It could be a good app but the app wont let me find out and I’m not spending 119 dollars to find out.

I am trying to log back into my account but it’s not letting me it just shows me the free trial and it’s not letting me just like skip it please fix it!
Bad karma for not playing…
I installed Fretello because I needed a simple guitar tuner app, and previous apps had become bloated, pricey and unusable. Well, I finally needed to use it again so I could quickly tune my old guitar and impress my girlfriend - yeah, I have both of those, ha. Guess what…? Fretello had turned into another bloated, pricey mess. Also unusable, because I couldn't even make it past the first screen without paying a pricey subscription. Sigh… That’s what I get for ignoring my guitar this long. Deleted and found a simple, free guitar tuner app.
Can't try the app unless I pay
this is expensive , I cant pay something I haven't try and I cant relay on "cancel subscription later" This app has a unique feature through out a competitive market and there is a potential but yea thats what I see , Max three stars which I think its generous for not being able yo use the app

Fretello is horrible! When you log in, it takes you to this screen where it asks you to pay. Fretello is free, so I said no, and it gets you back to the log in page. It’s an infinite loop!
Motivierend
Als jemand, der mehr Gitarren hat, als er Akkorde spielen kann, finde ich die App sehr gut gemacht. Ja, der Abopreis ist nicht billig, aber die App finde ich sehr motivierend und ich entwickle endlich mal ein Rhythmusgefühl. Ab und an wird mal ein Ton nicht von der App registriert, aber zu mehr als 90% haut es hin und es macht Spaß. Mittlerweile seit 3 Monaten..
Gut strukturiert aber
Die Erkennung von Noten funktioniert oft nicht, auch wenn die Gitarre vor jeder Übung gestimmt wird.
It won’t pick up the sound of the string
I’m trying to move on lessons but it won’t pick up the sound right. I then go pluck another string that I know that isn’t the right one and it recognizes as the right one. Is it a bug on my phone?
Works well
Developer was responsive to a problem I was having, and now the app does exactly what I wanted. Excellent live feedback learning app.
Very bad programming. Scam company.
This app is unusable. Frquent errors during signup and other basic actions. The tuner can (sometimes) hear the high E, B, and G strings -- however, no luck on D, A, or low E. I have tried some other applications like Yousician, Rocksmith plus and Simply guitar and none of those has issues like this. I suggest that this app is made ready for primetime and until then removed from the store. Update. I cancelled this subscription and a year later I was still billed for it. Very unhappy.

I love it I just don’t like when it teaches me how to tune because I know how to and it takes a long time
Frustrating to say the least
The app has potential, but it just not accurate. I tried placing the phone away from the amp, close to the amp, left, right, you name it, it just struggles to recognize my playing. I had to cancel my subscription because I stopped using it out of frustration. It kinda works with slower stuff, but if you are trying to go for the speed classes and what not, it’s going to be a nightmare.

Great app but not the best
This app had a couple of things that did not work for me.

idea is good but they give 1 free lecture which is "if you want to hold the guitar use your hands" type of instructions. nothing fancy
Room for improvement
The layout of the app & program is solid but within that there are problems.The lessons are do the job , quick with a linear system.The practice section is good except for the fact anytime I try to create a practice sheet for legato it always switches back to alternate picking,I have yet to use this to practice legato.Also on the lessons where it’s supposed to listen to you play & move along when you play the (which I haven’t used much) has a is very bad at listening and recognizing the note,most times I’ll have to play a note multiple times for it to register & that defeats the purpose of the exercise because there’s no keeping time when you can’t play a bar without being stopped because it didn’t recognize the note.

Needs work
I was on the lesson and when I played the correct string on the correct fret (before someone says it’s a user error I triple checked that I was playing the right thing and I was) it said that it was wrong and when I played a bunch of random muffled notes it said “great job” and I moved on.

App doesn’t pick up my opening notes on exercises and I frequently have to play a note four or five times before the app hears it. If you press retry on an exercise, it tells you to press play to start the exercise but none of the buttons are mapped. You have to do something to force the device to refresh the display to get the buttons to come back. Talking to Siri or long press on the bottom of the window with a slight movement does the trick.
Too expensive
14.99£ per month? Seriously? I gave 3 stars trying to be neutral since I’ll never pay that much and I’ll never know how the app is.

I take full responsibility for not reading the fine print. IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE FREE TRIAL AND DON'T WANT IT MAKE SURE TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT 24 HOURS BEFORE THE TRIAL EXPIRES. I WAS JUST CHARGED $100 FOR THIS JUNK.
overall this is really good
the only problem is the add for premium is so annoying! especially on computer.
Lessons seem good, but it has trouble hearing.
I really like the lessons, but the exercises expect you to play each note and it doesn’t always hear when I do. Despite having my phone sitting in front of my amp, I often have to pluck the string 2, 3, or 4 times before it registers it. Forget staying in time, there is no hope. This app might be awesome if this part would work.

What can I say except for THANK YOU!, I recently came across one of your advertising posts of instagram and I was very quickly linked to your application on my iPhone, in total I have enjoyed and learned with ease comfortable confidence and a new commitment to become an guitar player and song writer in just a half hour of instruction from your application, where have you guys been all my life! I am 60 years old and enrolled in a audio recording engineer school and now also confident that I will be able to play the guitar on purpose enough to make real music and produce multitrack mix demo’s to share and possibly make money in the entertainment industry. I am definitely a fan and student for sure.
Bait and switch
Another app that pretends to be free but waits to you sign up to tell you it’s $19.99 and lock you into a deal you didn’t want. Wish they would be upfront about subscription services and prices.
Good app!
It’s a great app if you just starting out with playing the guitar the lesson and interactive practices are great! The only downside is the variety of songs and music. Other than that I purchased a year subscription and planning on strengthening my skills using this app!
Great idea, some issues though.
So, this was a genius idea. Free guitar lessons, test songs and warm ups, a digital guitar tuner, etc. This app really thought of it all. However, with all of these great features, I was so disappointed that this just wasn’t the app for learning guitar! If you already know how to play the guitar, you know how to tune and all of the parts on a guitar, and you’re just trying to practice extra, you’ve found the right place. But for beginners, this was so not easy! I had to keep googling terms and parts, it was like the people in the video were speaking a different language! The guitar tuner was completely unusable and no matter how hard I tried, something always was off. And, guys, this isn’t my first music lesson! I take piano lessons (which I’ve been playing since I was seven) and practice voice. I know notes and I understand the music symbols and timings. I was so excited that I had this untouched guitar sitting in my closet and that I’d finally learn it, and was so disappointed to find that this app really was far too good sounding to really be true. Just a few suggestions: 1: For VERY VERY new musicians, you should give them basic lessons on notes and symbols. 2: You should definitely make a better guitar tuner that’s more accurate. 3: You should have an in depth video explaining all of the parts of a guitar. That’s all! I hope this was helpful to anyone considering downloading this! I also hope you put my suggestions into action, Fretello Music!

uhhh. thre is so much potential! but you literally can’t do nothing without paying a subscription. i just wanted to play and learn new songs. theres just no point to download this app unless you are gonna pay. but... know a lot of people dont hav a problem with a subscription.. but on the other hand, a lot of people (including myself) dont have the extra money to spend on something you really want to pursue and improve on. also theres a lot of competition in music apps. which almost all of them also hav subscriptions, but most of the time theres always alot of things you are able to do with out spending any money. i think thats what this app is missing so... Dear Developers, 3 stars cuz i wanted to spare yall. i have yet to find the ‘perfect’ music/ guitar app, but i seriously thing this could be it! all yall need is move verity, accessibility & advertising. make this app accessible for everyone, and you WILL make grate sales (with optional premium subscriptions) and you’re doing a great job!.. just dont stop here :) also this is just my opinion, with REAL ADVICE. take it into consideration, and you’ll be G O L D!! i believe in you. hav a great day! beyy!

Eine App mit Potential
Die Videos und die Tips haben mir geholfen, mein Gitarrenspiel zu verbessern. Die App ist schön gestaltet und gut gemacht. Was mir fehlt, ist absolvierte Lektionen ggf. auszublenden.
2nd try and disappointed
I tried the free trial and now unpaid for and month and already got disappointed. The app hasn’t nice way to practice but there are a few bugs a huge lack of content. - very slow app - just work in my iPad it doesn’t sync with my iphone - the scale practice repeats the same scales all the time I already made the same exercise more then 70 times it just keep repeating the same scales. Also there is no written or video explain how the scales works as you “progress” in the exercise - lack of music, there almost nothing! - there are only the introduction, not event a beginner level of trading, of a few practice topics, you are not able to go to the next level as a guitar player all the exercises. I really liked the way you can practice scales with the app, that’s why I gave it a 2nd try and only 2 stars, but I totally regretted since there is no more content =( I should have bought a book!
App support anyone?
The app looks like a good idea. They certainly attracted top talent like Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani and Sophie Lloyd. Looking the App over, it looks like it will be fun. So I open it up and it says it wants to access the microphone. Ok, no problem, let me head over to settings and let it take input from my audio interface (verified working in Mac settings). That's strange. I can't seem to do that. It seems like a GLARING oversight. Clearly I must be missing something. I click on App support. The "Support" page shows the songs, the blogs, how to pay to subscribe, the privacy policy, and even a careers tab, but not a single word about how to get actual support if you have issues. So no input from audio interface and no way to get help - 2 stars.

As an expert guitarist and a not very much expert guitar teacher, I was very curious and interred in this app. Superb and very promising introduction! (the French language version needs major corrections, but it's kind of cute to read. Like if I heard a strong Canadian accent. ;-) I did the first exercise twice because I didn't understand it the first time. I agree with other users who said it was weird to follow and understand what the metronome wants. I then wanted to go faster but didn't see how. I moved to the first improvisation or jamming exercise, which I accept it is boring since it is the first exercise. And then I moved to the second one, which is suppose to be a 16 Bar Blues Rock in C. Man, what is that??!!?? I believe this is wrong, just an incomprehensible bad chord change form that has nothing to do with a standard. I mean... I've been playing guitar professionally for over 25 years + 10 years of apprentice and this is the second exercise shown in an app that promises me to learn guitar? And in the next step, I'm invited to pay yearly for the use of the app? I would like to help you to make your app better so you'd get more subscribers: show the structure of the music you want your student to play with and, while in at, select a standard form for a second exercise, like a 12 Bar Blues. Oh, and the notes suggested on the neck were those of the previous exercise A Minor and do not all fit with C7, F7 & G7. Just saying. I would really like your app to be a major success. The entire concept is, I believe, in the right direction.

It's a nice little app. A little repetitive for me....but that's not to say it wouldn't be beneficial for a beginner. I'm going to keep at it for a while and see where it takes me. Will update on progress
Impressive content and high quality indtruction
I’ve worked professionally since 1968 as a liturgical organist and accompanist but was not successful at learning guitar until now. The Fretello Method has been inspirational and entertaining in a professional, logical and systematic manner. Song selection
Maybe spend less money advertising your app on the front page and spend a bit more on licensing more songs. The selection is extremely limited. Anyone whose not a fan of their small list of music is sure to be disappointed
Cool app so far.
Really liking this so far, though I'd like to see some sort of visual representation or what beat of a bar is being represented by the click track, or some sort of accent to better display which beat/click defines the start of the measure. Finding if I slip up it's hard the tell which specific beat I'm on, and the get started again at the next measure. I can watch for the next measure dash to trigger, but that puts me a little behind on the next Measure too. Outside of that one change, great app so far.
Very annoying
It is not possible to skip a session or change the speed of practice manually. When these issues resolved it can be a great app.
Not bad, but lots of room for improvement
This could be a great app. I sure hope they read these reviews and take them to heart. It's not always 100% clear what you're supposed to be doing in the exercises... Most frustratingly: I was trying to complete one of the tempo detection exercises and for some reason I got distracted, and it registered me as only able to play the scare VERY, VERY slowly. And it LOCKS you into that tempo for the rest of the session. I ended up having to abandon that session entirely because it was forcing me to practice the scales and an unbearably slow tempo. You don't seem to have the ability to manually adjust the practice tempo. Very frustrating!
