I’m Back Baby!
Let me be clear, this app is really, really good. That being said, it use to crash a lot. But I’ve recently given it another chance and I honestly, honestly can say… it HAS NOT CRASHED since I’ve been back. I believe the last update really made a difference. I hate crashes because they pull me out of the mood to create. This app has regained and renewed my faith in it. Now, if they will continue that structure with maybe another update, which is more of a way to just confirm they haven’t abandoned the DAW like so many other great apps… I’m all in! And YES… I’ll give it that 5th Star!
Crashes after update 3.0.17
Anyway to get version 3.0.16? I have an older iPad with iOS 12 that I only used for Beatmaker3. It auto updated and crashes on opening now. Tried restarting device, reinstalling app. Nothing has worked. Would be great if I can get it to work again.
Good with a great potential
The UI is simplicity and great for lazy creators such as myself, but there are some areas that are lacking. Mainly the sounds/instruments available- even in the store- are severely limited and “synth” dominated. The bundles are affordable but they mostly seem to be the same sounds altered with different effects. Guitars, strings, organs, winds, bells, vocals and other instruments are poorly represented if at all. And if you*ve had BeatMaker 2 your purchased library DOES NOT TRANSFER which is a major FAIL as the store for that app no longer exists. ALL of my purchases for that app are gone. If you’re looking for workstations such a Korg Triton or Roland Motif keyboard would offer, you won’t find them here. Severely stifling for musicians who don’t have instrument sampling or creating skills. Quantizing still needs work, but is manageable. Plug-in’s are confusing as well. Haven’t found success with getting that to work. It’s good app to start with, but if you’re a more dedicated creator look elsewhere. It has room for growth, but doesn’t show that it actually will. More likely that there’ll be a BeatMaker 4 and all the time and money you’ve spent here will be wasted.

Not working in AUM or Audiobus since last update.
Disappointed
I tend to make music with a lot of arpeggios and to my disappointment I tried to use king of fm plug-in and the app interpreted the arp as a single note and repeated it over and over in a linear fashion..I’m sorry but it’s a dealbreaker for me and I’ll have to ask for a refund Edit: so I clearly didn’t get a refund. The only plug in that works with arpeggios is Animoog z but if you put your latency high and master a recording it will mess up the arpeggios. bump up to 2 stars, 5 stars when native arpeggios are supported and can we get an optimization update? It randomly stops sound from auv3s and it just craps itself since it can’t handle most used plugins

Can’t use it
It’s buggy. The pitch and mod wheels jump all over the place causing the audio to stutter. It’s been a problem for a while now and I couldn’t get a refund. So, money in the trash I guess.

This is actually a real good app for iPad and it’s been out for quite some time. I’ve been tinkering with it for a few months and I’m really impressed. I hope INTUA continues to expand on its capabilities.

This keeps crashing on me and losing my projects.
Excellent But…
Hi, this is a good beatmaking app. I use it when traveling and on easy startup tracks. Otherwise, im asking the creators to please update. I’ve had this app for a while, it doesn’t need much but it could use at least a new template OANDA color scheme feature. Also, when I use AU3 plugins it doesn’t save well and or crashes the beat on reopen. This is a good app. I use it a lot, but something is missing… Please update 😀 thank you
Gaps in implementation
As someone who didn’t experience BM2 I came to this app fresh and found it impressive...indeed, the most compelling iOS DAW, particularly because of the clip launching alongside linear sequencing. Also, it has a very well-rounded feature set with internal instruments, plugins, plus sequencing and sampling of external gear. Sadly, as is so often the case with iOS audio apps, it doesn’t quite deliver what it appears to. I tried to hook it up as the hub of an outboard rig and it appears there is no way to set the main output - this is hardwired to the headphone out, so the metronome is always routed this way rather than through my class-compliant soundcard. Although it will record in it will not output any sound through my soundcard despite ‘seeing’ all the outputs and allowing them to be assigned to tracks. Logging in again a few years after writing this review, I'm disappointed to see no updates in two years. Apparently, the software is dead. Intua, why did you acquire this only to let it rot?
It’s more powerful version but needs more work..
I really enjoyed beatmaker 2 version but this version 3 is a bit more complicated and confusing… samples on first pad load up automatically as notation on pad then it doesn’t on other pads, on the song sequencer, you can’t hear notes or sample until you hit play, most daws give you a preview when you draw the note.. hope version 4 will be better, it does have potential..
Simply Amazing!!!
I started using BeatMaker 3 as a sketch pad when I’m out and have ideas to create when I get to my home studio. Now I’m creating complete sessions solely on my iPad with BeatMaker3. The sampling is simply amazing!

This app needs an update. It’s just been a while. Still really functional, still really good, but as all apps do, it deserves constant development. Still is my go to for iPad music production though.
Updated from BM2, but.....
I'm a casual music maker and I was using BM2 which was great with the included instruments. But BM 3 looked much more powerful with more plugin options and the ability to use TP apps. Firstly the bundled sounds are pretty useless with almost nothing by way of variety and the free packs, or free pack, is pretty useless too. However, even more frustrating is that whenever I use AUv3 or IAAs BM3 constantly loses connection with the apps, or the apps freeze or no sound comes out of the keyboard or BM3 freezes. This makes it totally impossible to create tracks as I never have a stable environment which will play all tracks or plugin synths/drum machines. I've tried having the apps open before I open BM3, or opening them after BM3 is open. I've tried dedicated midi channels. All to no avail. Even using BM2 via midi channels is hit and miss. So at the moment it's an expensive GUI that does nothing. If anyone can help me get this to work I'd be really appreciative.
I used to absolutely love this daw
It is the easiest and most functional daw I’ve used on the iPad, so much so that I sold most my gear and used this primarily. I’ve gone through a stint of using my mpc as I needed to learn it better and have now come back to bm3 as I prefer mixing in digital then analogue style. Coming back to this now has made me realise how buggy it is. Things like au effects just dropping during playback, deleted automations resetting. Tracked out stems having missing audio. It’s a shame as bm3 used to be that guy but it needs updating, or at least realease a bm4. Also how do we still not have bm3 on the iphone, it would be great to work an idea on the go and bring it back to the iPad. I thought maybe the devs were putting out different apps and that’s why there hasn’t been a new bm or update for a long time but they just have this and the previous bm’s, unless they release other apps under a different company. It’s a shame as there’s more and more people moving to iPad production but there doesn’t seem to be another app as easy to use and as functional as bm3, I just wish it didn’t have all these issues (not to mention constant crashes) the devs do seem to respond to feedback though. I think for now I am just going to have to find an alternative and hope that this issues get resolved as I’ve spent around 2 hours trying to get 1 effect to work properly in bm3.

Why!?
I got BM3 because it was advertised as the next big iOS DAW. AND IT WAS! But what happened. The app performs sooo poorly now. And now there’s a sale for it?! No updates in forever. AUv3 usage is a waste because it can’t handle the load. It crashes frequently and stops loading plugins randomly. I literally had to export all my project files from the app and delete it. Made my workflow slow to a turtles pace making it more frustrating than fun. Unless there’s some surprise updates coming…I’m done with it.

Seriously needs more updates…we the users of BM3 have given up all hope in this happening…in the 5 years I’ve had it we had one SUPER small update in 2023…that’s it!!!…and it needs to get on the iPhone..if Cubasis can do it then it can be done

Great app but crashes a lot (Known Issue)
I love what I can do with it but it just crashes daily, when I put a vast, when I record, when I add a sample, there is no precise reason it just crashes randomly, at least once or twice a day, have to save at every single step it’s a big problem that they never fixed...a LOT of people experience the same, a majority from what I have seen on their own forums and other communities even... It would get 5stars otherwise, BE WARNED before buying!

Easy access to spice samples
think beat master is great app for music but if it join up with or have access to splice on this it would benefit from it greatly.

I’m not sure that buying this was such a good idea as it doesn’t seem to like plugins and I’m spending a lot of time reopening it. It’s a big disappointment so far and I think it’s a waste of money. I know that others like this program and rate it highly but it’s not much good to me if it doesn’t work on my iPad Pro. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it makes no difference.

So much lag on the pads that I cannot even make a beat. New iPad too. Have given up now.........
THE BEST EVER
I have been consistently using BM3 since 2019. Better than FL STUDIO, and that’s not a knock to FL, that is where I started making beats in 2001, but BM3 is the best product I’ve ever used to make music. As a person on the go, I’m able to make music ANYWHERE, and the quality is unmatched. 10/10
Has massive potential but..
Still too buggy.. plugins auv3s constantly crash..gets very laggy with even moderate samples running…meh.. could be awesome ….
Piano Roll improvements
The piano roll could be easier to use to allow the user to make melodies faster and more effective a pencil tool and cut tool will be needed and the grid needs to be easier on the eyes
Doesn’t play nicely
There are some things I LOVE about beatmaker 3, like the amazing sample chopping abilities, very nice to use. And it’s flexibility as a drum machine. But unfortunately There are a whole bunch of things I find super frustrating. Here’s a non exhaustive list. Auto save is rubbish and often doesn’t seem to save everything and save/file system is confusing (eg there is at least 3 different save buttons and multiple places where things are stored) this had led to the loss of MANY a banging tune even after thou rally studying the manual. It also doesn’t seem to save effects settings/ presets so that reverb you spent an hour lovingly sculpting... gone next time you open. The midi editing screen is lacking in some basic functionality eg. You can’t copy a section and paste where you’ve placed the play head, in fact you can’t seem to even place the play head from within the midi editor! , it just duplicates next to original and you have to manually move which gets annoying and fiddly in a large arrangement. Also you can’t seem to trim the start of a section, only the end, WHY? But the absolute worst thing is that beatmaker 3 just does not want to play with other Daw type apps like Cubasis, AUM or audiobus. I have wasted hours upon hours trying to get beatmaker to play (or sometimes even just load) inside these apps so that I can simply use it as a drum machine and it just keeps breaking/failing. Super frustrating, it could be SO good but just falls short on some simple but vital elements.

The Only Sampler I need!
As an iPad producer this has been my go to solution for production since it was released. I have yet to find a solution for sampling better for my workflow than BeatMaker 3. I wish it would get regular updates. I come across bugs or issues I’d love to be addressed. But even with that… It’s still an integral part of how I work on my craft as a producer.
Not working, not reliable, no support
Constantly crashing, then not opening, persistent through device reboots. Terrible support.
Cpu problems
Beatmaker 3 a good daw for creating quickly and really easy to use. Only thing is I’m having 30/40 % cpu problems from using plugins like pure synth platinum. Some of my sounds cut out. Intua is there anyway to fix this problem ? And is there anyway to copy a high and low melody on two different octave at the same pattern Besides that intua good job on this daw
Won’t work with AUM
Latest IPadOS on Air 2 but cannot get BM3 to load into AUM, even though it’s on the list inside AUM. Needs to be stable for live radio so cannot use at all. I hope it’s something I’ve overlooked but have tried all combinations, even though I shouldn’t have to... Finally got it to work by starting BM3 then starting AUM, even though AUM doesn’t tell you to do this. Still cautious about live performance with AUM but will update once fully tested.
Needs custom scales and chords
This app would be brilliant if I could create custom Scales and chords, this would make it easier for the beginner to make a melody for different genres .

Very buggy
I am having lots of problems with this app, it cannot handle plug-ins the audio it out or distorts and pops and the app keeps crashing. Tried to get a refund but the developer doesn’t permit refunds. Tried reinstalling the app. Same issues. The developers contact form doesn’t work and they don’t respond to email. My iPad Pro is running the latest iOS and works perfectly with Cubasis, Kong Gadget, GarageBand and AUM, so not a hardware issue. A total waste of money for me and a very expensive useless app. Please allow refunds for those of us who have issues with this app!

No free samples
As per the title, I have watched many youtube tutorials for this app. All of them showing the free kits and samples that come with the app. I have only got ashes and summer keys. I have messaged Intua via facebook,Twitter and email and have never received a reply. I have no idea how to get the extra free kits, trying to register or subscribe within the app just boots me out with invalidmailchimp and a load of numbers. If someone from intua reads this, please reply!
Poor in app purchases
This is a very capable DAW. It let down by an uninspiring collection of in app purchases. They are titled by the studio that produced them and are not genre specific. All the pack demos sound the same, I would call it elevator music. If you don’t buy your own sample packs you will be making the same rubbish. I would like to see a rock, trap, dnb, urban 90’s and packs like that with loops, samples and instruments.
