i’m one of those starving artists but I gotta say bases and base is a very faithful to its customers ex people and they keep you and support them all the way down the line no matter how many years and that to me is freaking awesome
Great DAW, but disappointed by the new guitar pedals
There’s a “feature” in the new guitar stomp boxes that kills all sound for about a second when activating a pedal sim. The devs say this is intentional and for realism, and that it can’t be changed despite plenty of devs having implemented something similar.
Portrait mode for iPhone??
It would be nice…..but my iPhone won’t rotate the Cubasis app…. I have a 17 pro max (1 TB)
App is nice, but Midi constantly freezes
On the new M5 IPad Pro with 1 terabyte, the app freezes constantly whenever using the Audio Units for MIDI. Doesn’t matter which ones. It always happens. Especially with multiple tracks and multiple units.
It is decent and it’s stable.
It comes with usable effects. I use it regularly. It’s better than logic in the sense that it does not have flashback recording. I hate that about logic. It’s better than Zenbeats in that you do not need a midi controller to record plugin automations. It pales to logic because you can’t save plugin chains. It pales to Zenbeats because it does not have vca fading inline for midi file. It has fading but it is velocity based so it is choppy. Also the fades do not allow sinusoidal curves. The audio editor is very rudimentary. All in all it is solid and updated fairly often. There is no way to route midi notes to audio effects that I have been able figure out so you cannot use vocoder effect and vocal effects such as BLEASS voices as intended. It may have to do with plugin pins but you cannot use vocoder do it in logic. However because of its ease of use and solidity it is my go to.
This daws is promising
I think wave tunes should have AUV3 Effect Plugin Support like how Neural Amp Modeler is with Studio Camera
Stop making it worse!
So the swipe up to leave the app now requires doing it twice, which is an absolute nuisance. I’ve never accidentally left an app, so I don’t understand why there needs to be a little “lock” on it. Also, the Help button is way too easy to touch, and it’s right next to the X button that I use constantly. I feel like I’m tapping the X, and Help pops up every single time. It’s so bad it feels like a bug, but I’m sure it’s been designed this way.
Not bad, UI needs a lot of work
Been making music with iOS for a decade and this DAW is packed with features and abilities that put it way up on the list. It’s VERY clunky, however. Lots of controls just aren’t very intuitive when compared to NanoStudio (RIP) or even GarageBand. If workflow is something that can hold you back, this might not be the one for you, but if you want maximum features and don’t mind an awkward flow, this one works fine.
No cloud importing?
I primarily work with samples and have over a terabyte’s worth stored in the cloud which I apparently can’t access through Cubasis. It appears the only way to use samples in Cubasis is to move them into a designated folder on my iPad which is severely limited in storage. Am I missing something? Other music apps i.e. Koala allow users to import sound files from multiple sources, why wouldn’t Cubasis? I’ve searched for solutions but haven’t found any. I also agree with other reviewers that the Cubasis workflow isn’t seamless and users have to go through several steps to implement an action that would normally be achieved at the click of a mouse. Some of the modules and effects look and sound like a possible good time but are hindered by the concerns above.
Please integrate Splice or make it work!
I make music on the go in my work truck. I spent an entire day installing all my iOS music apps on my iPad, including the Splice app. I use a lot of samples in my music… it is integral to me using Cubasis. Well… when Cubasis is open, Splice makes no sound. I don’t want to have to close Cubasis to hear Splice or vice versa. I need to hear the beat playing so I can determine what sounds I want to sample. This is such a workflow killer for me… I understand it may not be entirely Steinberg’s fault, but whoever’s fault it is, I just want it to work how it should!

Thank you for the wonderful app! Cubasis one of the closest to the desktop DAWs and pro workflows. But can you add some little midi effects like Pitch, Scale, Chords?
Broken after update
I have been using this app for over three years and loved it. The last update completely broke the app. The UI color is different every time I open it and every time I close the app and reopen a project the audio will only play at .25x speed. The one time I tried to mix down a project, it got stuck halfway through and never finished.
Discotex
Ive been using C3 for quite some time but just recently it keeps crashing and all my third party plugins don’t work, Pro Q3 and so on. Does it need an update? It’s been quite some time.
Counter intuitive interface
The interface is extremely counter-intuitive. There is no way to import audio file to a track that is apparent by searching for and using menus. my ipad screen is too small for drag and drop if that’s available. I have used Mixcraft 10 on windows for years and never had a problem. This is actually unusable. Even the pdf manual is vague about it. I am not willing to waste any more hours with AI and the manual trying to figure out something that should be apparent without consulting a psychic. Obviously designed by morons.
Will no longer render mix files (flac or mp3)
App worked great the first few times I used it but it will not render any mix files (flac or mp3). Try to render a file and it just hangs forever. Restarting it doesn’t seem to help. V26.2. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to send any logs or crash reports to the support team.
The DAW for iPad. Period.
If you come from Pro Tools, and wished for the same experience on the iPad, this is the tool you need. I never used Cubase before, I was all in with Pro Tools until I was in need for a mobile version. I tried a couple, until I found the one. This app is perfect. Now I’m thinking to try it on desktop as well… this app has been so good that it may change my mind about Pro Tools. Seriously.
poor daw
It has everything to be great with the simplicity it offers but there’s not enough to even fully mix n master a rap/hiphop song nowadays on this… bandlab for free offers more…. Needs A LOT MORE and could be doin a lot more! Us iPhone artists need more
Need 32 but float recording

Not from the same family of Cubase products that I know
I just started using Cubasis for creating backing tracks. I have been using Cubase since version 1.0 and released 3 successful albums with it. If Cubase could talk, it’d probably say, I am not related to this thing. Cubasis has not inherited the great features of Cubase. For example, its piano roll. Did the designers ever use their own creation to see how frustrating and counter intuitive it is? Or what’s up with adding Global tracks without a chord track? Or what about the stability that Cubase is known for? I understand that at this price point you are not going to get anything close to Cubase. But at least inherit a subset of features that Cubase has without redesigning it from scratch!!!

Waves not working

I love this developer, he a freaking work horse that values his communities inputs and implements everything we ask for. Stoked for visual browsing added for Aube. I love the fact that you can edit pad layouts. I would love to be able to save them as presets to recall. So I don’t have to change them every new track. Unless this is already possible. Seriously thank you for your phenomenal hard work.
MIDI Composing is Clumsy
There should be the ability to do more actions without switching tools while composing with MIDI. That is, we should be able to do all of this without switching tools: Draw a note. Delete a note. Change a note’s length. Move the note up/down/left/right. Select multiple notes. Pan around the screen. Zoom the screen in/out. MIDI composing in Cubasis is clumsy because it requires swapping between tools to do these actions. This slows the flow and does not feel intuitive. This is a mobile app and should allow for all of these actions, without requiring switching tools or changing the state of tools. I reviewed the videos linked in the reply to the original review. Those videos don’t address the points above. The key challenge with using Cubasis is composing when using a phone. The above behaviors slow down the process greatly. FL Studio Mobile feels much more fluid in this regard. Would love for Cubasis to be improved because everything else about it is excellent. The integration with Cubase via dawproject support is perfect. Overall the app seems like it was designed to be used with an external MIDI controller, with only editing of recorded MIDI being done in the app. However, if the use case is composing by directly entering MIDI notes then there is a lot of room for improvement.
Good potential
Cubasis had good potential and is probably easier to use on an iPad, however, on an iPhone it is difficult. The controls are often too close to the edge and cut off. I also wish there was a player mode with simpler controls. I want to play tracks created with Cubase on the Mac and have the ability to adjust the mix. The current workflow is awkward.
The Most Valuable, Most Feature-Rich iOS DAW Offering
Cubasis is the most capable and most useful music tool for iOS I’ve ever used. I can pull off mixes comparable to what’s possible with Cubase or Ableton. Essential and highly recommended for any music producer with an ipad.
Not fitting properly
The UI is not fitting properly in my IPhone 16Pro. The side track information with the inserts and fader gets cut off. Even after trying the different settings “phone, phone xl, and phablet”, it has not fixed this issue. Needs updating

I can't make my music without ghost notes
Glitch
Would give 5 stars but I constantly get a glitch where at least one letter from every word is missing so all I see is a bunch of random letters. I restart Cubasis 3 then restart Ipad (7th gen version 18.4.) sometimes I get lucky but usually get frustrated and quit. If you have a solution I’m willing to try.

The Best DAW on IOS!!!
The closest thing to me, iOS has to Avid Protools for mobile! A professional, portable tool for sessions on the go! I have a couple requests though…. Can you please add aux bus tracks for sends and group inserts per track for the ability to send and record audio from one track to another, 2. the ability to drag n drop samples chromatically to the mini sampler to instantly spread across the keys, and 3. Track settings to save and recall vocal and effect chains. Outside of that a dedicated multi sampler chopper for chopping samples like a MPC to send to the pads! That’s It!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
