Good game, DLC not required
The game was overall fun. Bought this game on release so I got one of the DLC characters for free. The base game is great. Levels are big and take a little bit to complete (but I’m also a novice at RTS, so I could be new to it). The army stuff was diverse, and I didn’t even complete the skill tree before I finished the final boss. DLC is interesting, but I’m not about to fork over $3 or more dollars for a unit in a game that costs only $5 and provides 3 perfectly cool units as is.
Way too hard
I am not the kind of person who plays mobile games to make myself sweat and get frustrated. I have a PS5 for that. I’m just on here to kill some time. ON CASUAL DIFFICULTY I have no idea how people beat the first planets boss without paying to play. So annoying. I’ve looked up walkthroughs and skill tree paths, and I still can’t win. Stupid game
Graphics! Pay to Play
Since this a real review, by a real user who actually paid for the game: This review will be balanced from new player's veiwpoint. So amazing the graphics. A lot of care on sound design, with hyper-detail to voices and music. I love how character, like Starcraft, have their own personalities and catch lines. The other part: Gameplay is simple, not a lot of strategy like Starcraft, with level bosses to defeat. Pay to Play. I've found one hero I like, but she is too underpowered for conditions. So, I have two choices, play at casual, or purchase coins. The game is basically designed for you to have to purchase coins to get enough kit to complete the level past the casual stage. Many of us want to play above casual to make the game seem more real and exciting. But, unlike Starcraft, you don't just buy it once and have everything you need. You have to keep paying. Last note: The antagonists are weak, which might make the game repetitive and boring. At least Starcraft had a strong story and back history for the antagonists. What makes then any different than a zombie shooter or ordinary TD? Not much. 🤷♀️

I’m a 58 yo AVID gamer since childhood when the FIRST video games were created!…lol I truly appreciate the GREAT GAMES of my time and THIS IS ONE OF THOSE AMAZINGLY CRAFTED GREATS!!! I sooo wish I could transform my “Aviation Science” degree and gaming experience into a spot with this game developer because they are truly amazing! Story…. but not dragging!; Depth… but simplistically FUN; PLAYABILITY WITHOUT ADS OR DEMANDS FOR $$$$$!!!!! Art and overall graphics are insanely good and sound is spot on! PLAY THIS!!!!! You WILL NOT Regret It!!! Enjoy!

Overall I love the game! I used to love you’re kingdom rush series I still like, but now I love iron marines better. It’s much more challenging and u can build defenses and control troop's u explore the map in your level it’s just awesome! To be fair this is a RTS game and kingdom rush is a TD game. Also I love the sci-fi feeling of it it’s like u got it from movies and it kind of feels like Star Wars TBH. Overall I love it! I do hope u developer’s make more missions/planets because it gets boring when u finish the game. Hope u read this thank u!
Iron Marines 2.
Hi. I love all the Ironhide® games so far but especially Iron Marines... been coming back to play it again and again. I love the progression of abilities and having to choose the best combination for the level. I’ve worked my way through all difficulty levels and am (finally) on planet 3 Impossible difficulty... I really hope there’s an Iron Marines 2 in the works... or another epic game from you guys... I’d liked the Sci-Fi feel. Was a nice break from the previous Fantasy games. PS. I especially love all the cultural references hidden in the games... “Yippee-Kai-Yay Mother£*^%#...” LOL. Keep up the good work. Phil
Fun, But Hero’s Are Kinda Pay To Win
This game is fun, don’t get me wrong but it’s kinda pay to win. In the game your main character is you’re hero and most of the hero’s you have to pay for. Most of them cost little to nothing but I still think that this game could maybe take off the prices for some hero’s. I would recommend this game for 8+ because some of the levels have strategy’s that a 10 year old could not figure it out. This game is fun and I still play it to this day.

A let down
The game is very poorly balanced, it doesn’t feel enjoyable to play through, and most things that make an rts fun, such as economy or massing army, just aren’t there No unit abilities to micro, no real sense of progression or macro, in or out of levels, just pick 2 or 3 units and go, but wait! If they’re not the right ones no matter what you do it’ll be futile, such as the very first boss being impossible without a specific unit, despite being given 2 others advertised to deal a lot of damage - oh and there’s no almanac to see anything such as damage - no hard numbers at all in the game for that matter If it wasn’t a different team that worked on this game, then Kingdom rush was a fluke with unowned references, which is a sad fact to consider

Not for Casual Gamers
Unless you’re already a fan of real-time strategy (RTS) games, you’ll find this frustratingly difficult. The amount of grind just to get through the first planet is unreasonable. The proverbial juice is not worth the squeeze. I don’t mind a grind on a game that makes the grind fun, but this comes across as gatekeeping and pay-to-win. There’s very little help in regards to how to actually play the game aside from basic controls. The general feeling is that you need to know about RTS games before going into this one. I’m sure the kinds of guys who call people “whining plebs” would disagree. Anyway, if you’re a casual gamer, save your money.
A 10/10 Game With Added Nonsense
I typically don’t like in game app purchases and that’s where my issue with this otherwise perfect title lay. If they would add a bundle for all hero’s to make it like purchasing the steam addition, it would help with the sticker shock of wanting to be a hard core fan of this tittle. I don’t use the coins and have plenty of them, but the ‘mortar combat’ dudes are hilarious and fun to use. You don’t need the dlc characters to complete the game on any difficulty. Same goes with the coins. It’s still an annoying distraction to have in an otherwise perfect game. 7/10 - Can’t give half a star so I rounded up 4/5.
Extremely frustrating and broken
after i bought the game i played it for a bit and then the next time i tried to open the game it would not open at all, the game crashed every time i tried to open it. i kept trying and no matter what after over 2 months it’s still the same issue.
Skip cutscenes
This game rocks with only one hitch. It won’t let you skip cutscenes for missions. Difficulty is fine just need to use some strategy. Having to fail a mission and listen to the boss for the umpteenth time really pulls from the experience.

Great game, but it wastes time to get resources
Firstly, I don’t like the fact that there are in-app purchases on the app. It takes unnecessary amount of money to spend, and the number of levels are very few. The last planet has multiple levels which are purposely meant to be aggressive just to waste my time for getting more resources. The number of units are also few, and changes in this game should be made regardless of the date this app has been made. The heroes I have purchased though are mostly not even worth spending as a special pack, and most of them have no significant effects when playing on each level. I won’t invest my money on this game anymore, as I know for sure future models can do worse, and this especially goes for when a new free hero is out and maxing takes a lot of levels to do. What I did like was the graphics, abilities units and unique abilities only some heroes can do, as well as tower abilities (some cost too much energy, which wasted my time just to get maxed out). There was also no cause of crashing.

The screen shakes constantly

I am a big fan of premium games. I will gladly pay more for premium product. Here we are receiving paid game which is asking for £14.99 to unlock heroes only 3 are available in bae version of the game. The game itself in fun to play and has quite nice graphics. Could be great if not IAPs
Polished, But Difficulty Spikes and Grind Ruin It
The Good: It’s polished, has intuitive menu and controls, low cost for base game, good graphics The Bad: It’s extremely grindy, boss spikes are insane and encourage grind/paying for new characters, levels can take 10-15 minutes with no save points, side missions are not very rewarding. Teammate AI/shroud of war ruins a lot too. Your tower may have a broad range but the shroud will make it near useless meaning enemies can stand in front and shoot at it base with zero repercussions. This has happened often and ended a match with little warning forcing to restart a 10/15 minute level bc of poor design. The P2W is the greatest culprit. You can watch ads to earn their premium currency to unlock one time attacks, or pay for new heroes. Either way you’ll need to grind like crazy to level them up even once. All this AFTER you pay the game.

Why are there in app purchases?
When you pay full price for a game like this, I don’t expect there to be in app purchases. I get that you can play without them, but the fact there’s a way to buy gems ruins the entire game. 2 stars because the gameplay is OK but the IAP should be punished.
Was a fun game when it was not an ad.
This used to be a fun game, then it was updated to put an ad over the splash screen that cannot be cleared. Clicking on it takes you to an ad page in Safari and does not dismiss the ad. <sigh>

Bad game
The game is fun enough as any rts genre plays very similarly. The hero concept and story is a nice touch. My issues stem from a couple areas. First off, the game is littered with loot box mechanics and microtransactions. In a game that you initially have to pay for and boasts offline in the title, it’s insulting to incorporate microstransactions that increase your ability inside of the game. Aside from that, there is no ability to move units en masse nor can you adjust the in-game time, like you can in most other rts games. While the story is fun, the characters and overall upgrades felt very underwhelming. There is a major incentive pushed to the player, to purchase hero packs and hero points rather than leveling up through the game. I wish I did not waste my time and money on this game.

Developers got greedy with update
This used to be one of the best games on the App Store, sadly now ruined but IAP greed. Before the update, I had 100% completion, every upgrade. Now, on the new world, it’s impossible to complete levels on anything other that basic difficulty levels, even after purchasing new hero’s and coins for upgrades. Very disappointed, would far rather pay for a new world. Isn’t a surprise, they did this with their previous games! Rebalance required.
