Scam
This is a scam app. No stories, nothing pops up when you subscribe or purchase it. There is absolutely no content in this app. Run.
Mated to the Cold Hearted Alpha on HOOKED
I’m only up to Chapter 3 but this is, so far, the best written book in this genre that I have read so far. I am addicted to these online books and movies and I’ve read many in the Werewolf genre. I must congratulate the author on this one as, unlike many of the others it’s understandable and intelligently written. I hope this keeps up.
Scam and greedy
Before it was free I didn’t finished read it now they want me to paid paid paid
No longer free
After spending hours reading on this app, I can no longer finish what I started because subscriptions are mandatory. I’ll be deleting it.
Octavia
Great stories but looks like I won’t be reading anymore $9.99 a week NO THANKS
Gone down hill
Honestly, having to pay to read the stories which is ridiculous and it’s all AI slop now.
Update
I want to make stories again and turn them into movies
Miss the old app features
When I was like 12 this app was free and then all of a sudden I want to download it and now you’re gonna tell me, I have to pay to look at words on stories that are sometimes not finished please bring back the free feature
It’s okay
This is definitely not the worst book app but I wish there were more ways to earn coins. All the books I’ve started are good and make sense so far.
hooked on hooked!
i love this app so much bc it’s my new favorite thing to do. the stories really keep you guessing and you just can’t stop reading.
Concern
Back when I was young this was free….
Make it free again
I liked it when you could read the stories without having to pay but now if I want to read them I have to pay please make it free again
Definitely not a free reading app
Many apps allow you to either buy coins, stars, or whatever the call them, or, you can earn some daily plus watch ads, play games, do surveys, whatever. Some even allow you a new free chapter every 6 or 8 hours. This app does give you daily coins, but only enough to buy 2 pages, and you have to wade through pages you’ve already read to even get to those 2 pages. They do have 1 book I can’t find anywhere else, and if I have the patience to ever finish it, I’ll immediately delete the app when I’m done. Hopefully I’ll get to finish the book, and it won’t become paid only when you hit a certain point.
Glitch
So the stories are good so far. I’m new to the app. They just included a way to gain more coins and it worked the first week but now whenever I click the daily reward, it takes away any coins I had so I’m left with nothing. Just a big ol 0 where there should have been more. I’m giving a 3 because the stories are good and I found a way to get chapters by reading and earning that way and not clicking till after(just incase it one day works) I wanted to buy coins but afraid to now. The attempt to help readers access more is there so I appreciate that
Subscription
Love the stories but where can I subscribe for monthly reading and not have to buy coins?
Unhooked- don’t waste your time
I had points saved up to read stories, opened the app today and it’s changed to subscription $9.99 a week. I’m so angry and annoyed. $40 a month? nah.
Confused
I’m confused how to get it for free I can’t get passed the opening thing and I logged in and everything
New Feature Is A Failure
I’ve reached out to customer service on several occasions for various issues. Customer Service is Nonexistent. The latest issue with the app is the new bonus/daily rewards feature. Whenever you open the app, you can claim 15 bonus coins if the appropriate amount of time has passed. After claiming the 15 bonus, then you can go into the daily rewards feature where you can “unlock” the day’s reward. Upon unlocking the daily reward, the 15 bonus coins are taken away and you’re never given the daily reward coins. So Hooked has added a great feature but it takes away instead of giving you bonus coins…FAIL!! Hooked has taken over a week’s worth of bonus coins. Very frustrating!!
Problems
The update is stuck, I can’t access it, also why do i have to wait more than a week to be able to read?! Im not paying all the time for this.
Review
Solid action, great plot easy read.
Disappointed.
You have to pay a subscription in order to access the app which was understandable at first I suppose. It wasn’t until after I gained access in the app when I realized everything is Ai. Every story and every cover??? Why? Not to mention how the stories I went through were so underwhelming.
I love it but...
I love the app but there's this thing and it stops me from playing it says that seven day trial thing😭☹️😭☹️😭☹️😭
Coins are too difficult to acquire
You have to pay coins per chapter, 60 coins or so per chapter, and coins are essentially 100 for a dollar(4.99+tax for 500 coins). Free daily coins and needle coins but if you read a lot, that leaves you still needing more
It’s nothing special
I got the free trial (thank goodness) because I remember the old version where it was free, and wanted to look back at the old stories (+ the ones I made in the past), turns out they removed all user-created stories and replaced them with new more high quality stories, although they’re all nothing special and I got bored after reading 2 I wish they kept the old user created stories because there would’ve been more variety, not to mention that there’s not many stories in this new version anyway and it’s a shame what happened Perhaps worth the free trial but not a subscription of 8 AUD a month..
Wonderful Customer Service
I had purchased a decent amount of coins and the app was not reflecting no matter what I did. I contacted their customer support and instantly got a response along with immediate assistance to put the coins onto my account that I paid for. I greatly appreciated the swiftness and kindness shown. Stories are great and customer service is even greater!! 10/10 recommend!!!
Would do zero stars if optional
I used to LOVE this app, it was fun and interactive, I loved being able to make my own horror text stories. I went to download it again for the nostalgia and now you need to pay $10 a week to even access it? That is the most insane ask I’ve ever seen from an app. You also offer a free 1 week trial, but when I went to use the free week it automatically tried to charge my card? (Luckily my card is locked when not in use) this is so sad to see. I hate seeing apps that I loved as a teen get so money hungry. You didn’t need to do that, and you knew it. This is unfortunate, and I hope you’re reading these reviews and taking them into deep consideration.
Good game
I love game because it gives me something to do When I am bored on thing I wish is that you can get on scary stories
Needs work
I like the books but I can’t put the back screen black when I have my bedroom light out. Also, when I turn a page sometimes it just goes back to my app page and I can’t ge t the page/book back. I have to keep deleting the app and go and download the site over and over again every time. It’s very frustrating to keep starting and stopping again.
UGHHHH👹😒👎😡
i really hate this, i have to wait soo much and i wasted 1 hour of my life
How do I use for free
I want to use this for free. How do I use this app without getting premium? Please reply quickly.
Too expensive
Having to pay $10 per week to even have access to the app is insane. That’s over $500 a year for horror stories. Immediately uninstalled
Gr8 app only 1 prblm
I have been on hooked since 2018 and it was the 1st app to introduce chat stories and I’ve also seen massive updates the team launches but I don’t know why in this update I can’t see any of the video stories once I waited for bout 30 mins but it was still showing that buffering circle.
Have to pay to use it now :(
Sad that I have to pay to use the app
It is ok.
The premise is good but to get a proper experience you must get past a past a pay wall
Hooked
Very good app.. and it’s free!! Love the stories
$10 a week!!!😭✌️hell nah
Used to get in this all the time but not for $10 a week that’s crazy who In their right mind would pay $10 a week to read horror stories
Loved it but now hate it here’s why….
I used to love this app so i decided to get it again bc i deleted but it said i have to pay and my sister had this app and didn’t delete so we tried it on my sister iPad Hooked but it still said u have to pay and the update made it worse so please change it back If u wouldn’t have paid i probably give a 100 💯 out of 5 From:Tanisha To:This Person Who Made This App
Meh
Stories are good but it’s stupid that it will stop in the middle of the story and have to wait 15 minutes before you can continue, and you have to pay like $7 a week. I’ve had the app for like 2 months and now I can’t read anymore because all it wants is for me to make an account and take my money before I can even read anything anymore. 🙄🙄🙄
In app purchases
I have to pay by some people don’t have that kind of money
Use to be the best app
This app used to have stories that actually spiked my adrenaline. Now, all this app is, is a money grab. You have to pay $9.99 just to get anything. Worst thing they could have done to this app.
Ads instead of 15 mins
I would much prefer if they had ads instead of making you wait for the rest of the story, other than that.... this app is great
Have to pay
I used to use this app all the time for free it just didn’t let you answer the calls or see the pictures you also had to wait about 15 minutes half way through in order to finish the story. I didn’t mind doing that but recently I went on the app and it wouldn’t let me in unless I payed the trial I was very disappointed as it was a good app sad it had to ruin it. I am 15 so don’t plan on paying for apps :(
Ok
I like the romance and horror/creepy stories, but how can I open the app now without buying the subscription?
Love the new hooked
It’s surprised I got super into these stories I definitely have recommended this app and shown all my friends and fam😻💋🔥❤️ Keep up the good work hooked team I can’t wait for more 💋
$9.99 a week?
I remember when this app was completely free to use. I decided to redownload it because I had not used it in a few years and figured why not. After seeing that I had to pay to even get to any stories I deleted the app again. I did go and read some other reviews and am glad I did not opt to pay because I suppose there is a huge increase of AI stories and I do not superhero use of AI. I just wanted my cute free story app back but I guess companies just like being greedy with money than actually keeping their apps the same when all users initially enjoyed them.
Unsubscribes
I would like to unsubscribe to this as it is trying to charge me money as I don’t use it!
So why do we have to pay now?
So like, Hooked used to be free, then it went to “you can pay but you don’t have to” and now it’s “you have to pay”
Used to be better
I had this app awhile ago but deleted it because I didn’t use it. I just recently re-downloaded it and am disappointed. I can’t even get into the stories because of the stupid premium promotion that pops up. There is no way to get past it and it really sucks. If I’m honest, Hooked was way better when everything was free with limited advertisements. Really hoping that I can actually get in to the app soon because I still miss reading the stories.
