Incredible APp
Use this app for all my podcasts it’s amazing. I just wish the developer would make it for The Mac
Horrible audio quality
The audio quality of recordings is awful. Very tinny/tunnel sounding. I used the same mic, conditions, script, etc to record in other apps and it sounds fine. It’s only this app that records poorly.

Disappointed
I got this app thinking I could make voice sound all funky and make my ukulele sound better but then I realized that I have to get a pass to do all this cool stuff but all I can do is change my volume! My dad looked up apps good for what I want to do and the reviews say good things but it’s so disagreeable that I left this review. I will keep this app for a little bit longer and if I still can’t figure out my problem I’m leaving a 1 star review. PS:just so everyone knows I am not a music writer.I just do it for fun.
Needs this feature!!
This app is really good but the only feature I want is that when you live record you could overlay audio or play audio when I push a button, that is pretty much all I want. But other than that really good app
Super Handy
I have been using the pro version for incidental bits for my show. Helps me precisely layer speech over music. I can quickly brew up all those elements for a show, using my iPad.
HORRIBLE INTERFACE
I need to do some simple VO editing and tried this app. There are next to no tools and the ones there do not seem to work. It’s not intuitive it’s so minimal that it’s useless.
Top Tier, but…
This app is worth the asking price, feature complete and I’ve used it since version one, I do wish there were bubble pop ups for menus and the help guide as it would make navigating the app much easier. I would also like it if the app had a way to create a profile of all my settings so if I install on another iPad (ai have bought two copies from two different stores to support the developer) I don’t have to hunt down all the little preferences I had set up on the previous iPad.
I’ve tried.
I’ve tried to use this app but the layout is just unusable. For someone that needs to monitor DB levels and do quick edits like trimming and cutting this just doesn’t work.
For voice over
I downloaded this because all the reviews said this was the one for voice-over. It is not. Don't get me wrong this is ok. However doesn't have punch and roll. And wasn't as packed as a PC or Mac recording editor. I switched to wavepad. I didn't think it was like a full-fledged recording app until I went to the suite tab and found Express Mix. I am not sure if you can get it separately but I downloaded both Wavepad and Express Mix. Now I can edit multi-tracks using punch and roll and use compress to normalize noise reduction just the way I did in Audacity on my computer.
Still the best iPad app I have
It's been yet a couple more years since I last updated my review. Ferrite is the biggest reason I still have an iPad. It is indispensable for my podcast editing. While for my purposes I haven't made full use of everything it's capable of, what I care about is that it continues to be steady and reliable through various interface/OS updates, so I happily continue to subscribe!
Limited usability
Only exports at 44.1 for free tier. Maybe the paid version does higher and by higher I mean 48 kHz as that is the max a pro max phone can do according to apple support.

Eigentlich toll, aber leider viel zu buggy
Das Programm finde ich eigentlich sehr gut und habe mich gefreut es gefunden zu haben. Leider ist es bei mir (Ipad 2021, alle updates und alles läuft ansonsten) so buggy, dass ich es nicht benutzen kann. Zum Glück habe ich es bemerkt bevor ich die Vollversion gekauft habe.
Used to be great, now is unusable for me.
There is a very annoying bug in which, after pressing play, the pause button disappears and the only thing on the screen is the menu at the top and the bookmark button. I literally cannot pause, only bookmark, apart from swiping the app away. This makes the whole purpose of the app annoying to use and not worth the trouble, even if the rest of the app is so good.
Ferrite recording studio:
Will there ever be a way you could make it where you can record with both front and back stereo mics activated at the same time? That would really make it great! Also, is there a possible to make it better record more than an hour? Thanks!
Buggy
I regret paying the $30 for this app. It crashes so many times. The editing controls are very limited and clumsy to find and use. Currently can’t recommend this app. Disappointed
Wonderful app. Could use more features.
This is an absolutely wonderful app. The interface is iPad optimized and intuitive. It is modern and clean. As a recording app, it excels. Where it falls short is post-recording features. The built-in features work well, but as someone who records audiobooks and needs standardized RMS, limits, de-clicking, de-essing, and such, I still have to export to a laptop to finish my recordings in Audacity. These are pretty standard audio editing features, and it would be nice to see them baked in to Ferrite. These app also doesn’t support iCloud syncing of files, so working across multiple iPads requires exporting and importing, which is tedious. I still recommend the app wholeheartedly. Just know it is missing some key features that could make it even better.
Pro version trial?
Sorry, I can’t purchase the pro version without knowing if it’s worth it. Would love to test the pro features. You should have a 7 day trial fully unlocked. Moving on.
Im Vergleich ein wenig teuer
Leider erscheint unten in der App eine ziemlich große und dadurch aufdringliche Anzeige, die man nicht wieder weg bekommt. Dort wird darauf hingewiesen, die App für zu kaufen, was dann mit 32,99 € zu Buche schlägt. Mir erscheint dieser Preis etwas zu hoch im Vergleich zu anderen (Multitrack-)Recording Apps. Die von der Farbgebung her unaufgeregte Arbeitsoberfläche gefällt mir.
Makes iPad Invaluable
I’ve used Ferrite for many years to edit podcasts and it’s incredible. I could not produce the amount of content I do without Ferrite. Incredible app.
Sometimes *does not record*
When this app records, it’s awesome! However, when using an external mic/interface, it’s 50/50 whether it actually records any audio or not. And because there’s no real-time visible waveform on the screen, I have no way of knowing whether it actually picked up any signal until I stop recording and see that there’s no sound during playback. This is nerve-wracking when the recording is vital, and the definition of unreliable and makes the app essentially unusable in my experience. I don’t have this issue using the same external equipment with other iPhone DAWs, and I tend to check and double check to minimize user error. This issue occurs nevertheless—again, unpredictably—on both iPhone and iPad.
Great app but needs updates
I have paid for this app twice now which shows how much i like the app and is my goto for all video recordings on my 2020 iPad Pro, but the app is missing features that would make it better to use for ex smart folders thanks for adding these but why cant i record in the Smart Folder and automatically add that new recording to the Smart Folder(if this is not doable then make a folder where the only files in the folder are the ones recorded in that folder) I could go on with more suggestions but my previous review which i wrote was deleted by apple thanks for that.

Good but annoying
Good and simple, great quality recording tool. Incredibly annoying and intrusive internal advertising for a next level upgrade. Two parts of the screen are taken by a REMINDER that you still haven’t paid for extra features, which you obviously don’t need... Reminder on app start, reminder here, reminder there... I fully understand how the developers make money and that it’s good to be informed about available additional features. However this app takes to the extreme, clearly assuming that you’ll be so annoyed by the constant pop ups and slide ins that one day, for the sake of sanity, you’ll buy the features you will never use. A footnote - I have contacted the developer with this issue and haven’t heard back, so I decided to write this review. Nov 27. I have replied to your email.
The best editing app!
I love using this while doing my podcast! It makes editing so easy especially for someone who has just started into podcasting and as a hobby. Great quality and easy to use!
Needs a lot of work.
One of the most basic things for an audio editor is to simply cut a small piece from the clip. In case for example an slip of the tongue. You cannot easily do this simple edit. In addition, the UI is poor with an amateur look through out.
I think it’s missing recording in WAV
The new features in V3 are very nice, specially on the edit section. However, I know for a fact that files in the WAV format can be recorded in an iPhone or iPad, could you please add it as an option at least? Then I think that the definition of Pro for the app will be complete. Thank you!

Ich habe selten eine so unübersichtliche Bedienung gesehen. Habe mir für einen Anwendungsfall mal die Pro-Version gekauft. Finde, dass ist rausgeschmissenes Geld.

Any chance of a loop function. Sorry if I’m missing something but seems like a pretty simple function that any audio editor should have.

Amazing
Often does not work for me at all since the last couple of updates
I used to really enjoy using this app but now I have a love-hate relationship with it. Most of the time I cannot use it I often cannot open it. I often can see everything there and I try to record and everything just disappears off the screen. I have such a hard time with this now once I’ve moved my projects to something else I’ll probably just delete it all together. I’m really disappointed because I used to enjoy it so much.
Full integration with Luma Fusion would be excellent

This app is good but it’s not worth the £28.99 it’s a £10 app at best.
Lack of purchasing option transparency. Make it clear!
Was always interested in this, but the purchasing options are so unclear. Which IAP do I get to have everything? Is the new upgrade a full upgrade to 2? It has always felt like if I bought one, there would be another still in hiding that I had to buy. How much is the total package for all the options from an original purchase? Make this stuff transparent in the descriptions instead of making the process feeling like a trap.

Immer mal wieder verschwinden Aufnahmen direkt nachdem sie aufgenommen wurden. Da nutze ich doch lieber die nun deutlich besseren Sprachmemos von iOS.

Need a record pause button
The app is actually quite good ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️… but I have to give one over one feature and your “Support” page. I tried going to your website and ask quietly… but you have one of those support pages where you arrogantly believe you thought of every question. You did not. When recording voice, how has it not occurred to you that users may need to pause the recording? This is a simple fix. I like your app, but now I have to find a genius app developer that simply looked at the controls of a regular recorder and just copied what they saw.
Needlessly crippled
Version 3 looks nicer, but the dev still refuses to implement 24-bit export or allow for 48kHz sample rate. Says no “professional” workflow requires that, which, as an audio professional, I completely disagree.
Serious Audio Editor
I'm still learning the full capabilities of this app but so far it's met my expectations.
Not intuitive at all.
When you're new to sound recording you need everything laid out to the lowest common denominator so that it's very easy to understand. This app is just not. The interface is boringly black and white. The instructions should be in bubble format, because there is nothing worse than having to trawl through pages of instructions, and options. It does what it says on the tin, but I'm finding it a bag of nails to understand....EASILY! It's impressively comprehensive but unimaginatively put together with lots of ambiguity built in. In other words.....unless your instinctively clever at understanding 'sound terms' and are used to recording then this app is far too dodgy to learn with any ease.
Very good app, but...
Firstly I must say that this app functions well and produces 'useable' results. It's not going to compete with something like Adobe Audition but being able to get audio recordings edited on the go - with useable results - is great. What cost it 2 stars is not the app itself but that I feel a bit conned by having to buy 2 apps from the same developer - as well as a hefty upgrade from Pro 1 to Pro 2 - that essentially do the same thing in slightly different ways to get the full editing options. You see, Ferrite is a non-destructive editor that has excellent tools for cutting out the silent sections of some audio and having the eq and a few filters is handy for refining the sound quality. I paid for all upgrades (2 x £9.99) and now the upgrade (Version 2) which is another £14.99 to get new features. That makes it a £35 app! But, hang on a sec because the same company (developer) also makes Hokusai Audio Editor which does a lot of the same things. The main differences (other than slightly different ways of editing) is that this app is non-destructive and Hokusai is destructive (unless the user makes a duplicate before editing) and it has many more effects. That's another £9.99 for the 'pro' feature pack on that app. I see no reason that the developer has 2 apps that do largely the same thing other than to rake in more money. We're not talking about a few £/$ either. These are expensive apps and the results are 'useable' but not 'pro'. Having the freedom to create and edit audio recordings for a podcast is nice but I think the developer could have made the all-in-one perfect audio editing app by merging the 2 apps together rather than making 2 apps that are almost the same.
In a word, perfect
I record and upload several podcasts. One of them is quite successful. The other is mostly for fun. I record and edit all of my podcast audio right on my phone. With the noise removal feature , compression, multitrack capabilities, and more, it makes being a podcaster using nothing but my phone so quick and easy. I have been a paid customer for two years now. This review is long overdue.
Warning - No Family Use!
I want to warn anyone who thinks they can buy Ferrite 3 Pro and use it with their family. Ferrite doesn’t allow this. Why does Apple even allow family groups to share apps when developers ignore this and code around this restriction? I’d love to sit down and work on an audio project with my son, but not if I have to buy two copies of the same app.
Really great software and interface
In general this is a really functional and intuitive way to edit audio on the iPad. I haven't been able to find a better alternative to this kind of thing.
Not sure what to make of this
You guys try to play it as a non music making app and yet you charge almost 10 bucks more than the same price as another major DAW... Via IAPs. Maybe once you guys make up your minds as to what this is intended to be, I will drop the money on what looks like a pretty decent music making tool.
Vocal comp. would be great for recording music!
I agree with the other reviewers. As much as this app is for voice over etc it can really be a well made daw. That can really assist vocalist to record a perfect vocal comp.. already have the shure mv88. Would be bless to important a comp into my mainstation daw. Make the jump ill purchase the inapp.
