I’m trying to do Ukrainian lessons but it keeps teaching me Russian words?! I know enough to be able to tell the difference thankfully but they’re two different languages and shouldn’t be mixed up at all!!!
Learning Catalan
I’m so glad Mondly has Catalan as an option! I wish the lessons moved a little faster with more dialogue longer than one sentence. I also wish I didn’t have to click so much—I wish the screen would advance automatically more often. Thank you.
Frustrating at times
The app seems okay, I like that it offers many languages. The lessons are all over the place and could be better organized and more flexible. Mondly could also easily offer lesson plans based on the users goal. I am learning for travel yet I end up sifting through unrelated and generally unhelpful content. Having focused learning plans seems like it would be pretty easy and would make the app so much better. The app is frustrating at times with its speech recognition, or lack of. I’ve recorded the app saying a word and played the recorded back and the app won’t recognize the word. The deeper I get the more I run into words the AI simply won’t pick up on. This wastes time and is frustrating. There is also a real lack of conversational content that’s not scripted. I’ve downloaded a second app for that. This app seems like it has a good start but it’s also really lacking essential features. Better than Duolingo but then what’s not?

Ich finde diese App generell eine sehr gute App, da ich damit sehr gut lernen kann und der Umgang sehr leicht ist. Trotzdem finde ich es sehr schade, dass es hieß man kann die App auch kostenlos benutzen nur mit paar Einschränkungen, wie zum Beispiel bei Duolingo, jedoch war dies nicht der Fall, statt dessen konnte ich nach einer Woche nichts mehr machen außer ich würde was dafür zahlen..

Very Fun!!
The bottom line is…I got this wanting to learn Spanish. And after 3 years, I only remember 2 things, hola, and adios. This app teaches you nothing! It stinks! I’ve started using Duolingo, and it is so much better! And it’s free! I’ve learned so much more from it! Whatever you do… NOT EVER BUY OR USE MONDLY! It’s a. Complete waste of your time and money!

It’s a slight peeve that when new words are introduced we aren’t told their gender. Speech recognition is pretty good, though it sometimes seems to get hung up on words beginning with b (when said on their own). Also, when it asks me to say “Mei” it hears it as the homophone “Mij” and says I’ve got it wrong. When asked to translate Dutch to English (my native language) I’m told I’m wrong if I don’t use the exact words the app is expecting - even if that wording is a bit stilted. NB this only happens rarely. You could probably get around this without needing a huge heap of extra code. ETA just had a huge struggle with the speech recognition over tiener/tien uur, but it got the hang in the end.

Easy to use but not sure of the practicality of the lessons
I've used a few lessons and find it very engaging. I am brushing up on modern Greek and found that the lessons are focused on phrases and topics that aren't practical on a day-to-day basis. I need to find my hotel order something at the restaurant find a bathroom get on a taxi. I don't need to tell somebody I'm interested in architecture.

Great AI, Good If You Already Have Basic Language Knowledge
I use this app along with Duolingo and Mango. I think it’s a great option because of the AI. Practice is easy and straightforward. BONUS: They have Catalan. Few apps offer that language. PRO: 1. The AI is better on Mondly. It also corrects you. Compared to Duo, much better because Duo mis- hears OFTEN, and the conversation sections don’t always give you a breakdown on mistakes and how to improve. 2. Conjugations: Mondly gives you a much better breakdown than Duo. And it’s structured in an easy way to find it. The stats section is great because you see all the words you’ve learned and can review. CON: 1. It doesn’t have a grammar section so you could see or understand sentence structure. That would be nice to have. Or if there could be an introductory section before lessons saying what to expect to learn, how sentences are structured/grammar and comp type stuff that would be helpful. Mango has something like that, though not as thorough as could be. Overall, I love the app. And thanks for having Catalan!
Good learning but would come off as disrespectful for Korean…
The app is good but it teaches casual Korean, in Korea, if you try to speak to someone higher than you (eg, Teacher, doctor, strangers, even just people older than you) with casual Korean, it will come off as super disrespectful.

Teaches phrases
I’m using mondly to learn Romanian. I like it, it helps me build my vocabulary and also helps with phrases. There aren’t really any lessons on sentence structure, grammar etc. I’d also like a way of accessing the verb tables outside of lessons. I find using this in conjunction with books is ok but by itself I feel like I’d struggle actually learning the language.
Terrible voice recognition and constant freezing
The concept and intent of this app is good, but in terms of real world functionality it’s not in a lot of ways. Who actually reviews vocab from a list!?

The speaker's pronunciation is bad, the speaker's speed is fast, the Persian meanings are primitive and not the real meaning, and the language used is street language, which is wrong.

Problem with account
I purchased the full access last year. However whenever I try to access the premium account, ithe system suggests purchasing the premium access again. The support is not able to solve this problem and does not reimburse.
Mondly
I think Mondly is an good app but there are a few things that I wished it had for kids to understand it more. Like for example I wished it had a game of the language that way kids would be able to learn and have something interteaning. It’s a good app though because you can speak with this robot on the computer and it really feels like your taking to a real person. You can also do daily lessons which help a lot. Another thing though that I wished Mondly had would be more talking with the chat bot because there aren’t that many lesssons you can do with it.
Better Options Available
I‘m very disappointed in Mondly. I wanted to learn some Czech and based on what I had read this seemed like a better option than the more popular apps. Boy, was I wrong. I am unable to go back and review the words it says I already know…and there seems to be no clear reason for Mondly choosing the words and phrases. As further evidence of its disorganization, it shows I’m learning Spanish, Korean and French?? What?? I feel like I wasted my money on the premium version. My simple advice, stay away and find a better option.

Deberían incluir español de España y Español de Latinoamérica porque hay muchas respuestas que según yo están correctas y me las marca mal!! O sea ahora no solo necesito aprender un segundo idioma si no que necesito aprender español de España también )= quien carambas le llama barca a un bote? Aparte de los españoles!?
Best way to learn
The way Mondly walks you through every aspect of a language is intuitive and the app is very responsive. The AI chatbot is helpful once you have a grasp, too! I just keep the annual on renew in hopes to practice every language at some point.
Terrible AI Voice Recognition
So many of the lessons are dependent on you repeating words back in a conversation with an AI that refuses to accept any form of pronunciation and even though it can write out the literal sounds of the word as Katakana, it doesn’t translate it into Kanji. Even though it’s literally in a repeat and call back exercise of the exact same word. This prevents you from progressing.

Not sure what it is teaching
While there is an opportunity to practice speaking, the app does not seem to pick up what I am saying. I think I am saying it reasonably well but the app does not recognize it as such and provides no feedback for improvement. It just says say it again over and over and over again. It also likes to start with difficult phrases right away. Keep looking for a better app.

Multiple Languages!!!
This is very user friendly and fun! Everything is clearly labeled and broken down well. They have virtually all the languages you’d like and the scenarios you’ll use them. From very specific to general use!
Poor Tagalog translations
I just wanted to brush up on my tagalog having not been in the motherlands for years, and right off the bat Kamusta isnt even on the learning curriculum, its just “Hello” with a filipino accent read back to you instead of using “Kamusta” the same went for “Magandang Gabi” they translated “Good Night” as “Goodnyt” with a pinoy accent instead of “Magandang Gabi” this just felt like such a disrespect to our language, it’s already hard enough as is finding a fun way to relearn/brush up on tagalog, but to havee english words in an accent as the ACTUAL TRANSLATION, is insanely disrespectful

This is really difficult to do so if you are trying to learn more than one language it is very frustrating

I thought Duolingo was bad, but Mondly is worse.
The taught phrases are not useful. The speaking challenges don’t work if there is a number within the sentence (it’ll change uno to 1 and mark as incorrect). The patterns become predictable so you’re just solving patterns instead of learning language.

This app for Hindi is the best choice out of a very poor offer. I have purchased it after DUOLINGO has stopped developing their Hindi course, which was far far faaaaar better designed. Mondly has such a lot of mistakes, translating continuous tenses with perfect tenses, teaching one NEW word but using synonyms in practice, and i just saw the past tense forms of the verb "to be" labeled as present tense. I kept the screenshots. I got in touch with customer support and presented my concerns, but they used politically correct words to smart-arse talk me into how wrong I am. I keep it as a rather expensive practice reminder, but i would not recommend purchasing.
Very specific translations
This program is fairly basic. It covers a lot vocabulary and has lots of languages. It’s decent for the price, but the translations are incredibly specific and you must get the exact wording or it will be wrong. It’s frustrating because correct answers will be marked incorrect because your translation was slightly different.

Buggy, unfinished and not useful for serious learners
Trying to learn Greek. Hands free lessons are an absolute nightmare : voice recognition works half of the time, when you pause a « lesson », it’s impossible to unpause and have to do it again from the very start. Zero acknowledgment of your position in the leaderboard at the end of the month. Helpful if you want to learn phrases to repeat like a robot (tourist) but hard pass if you’re serious about learning the language, a waste of time and money.

Boring
I bought a lifetime subscription and I wish I hadn’t. It teaches language in such a strange way. I can’t retain anything I learn. It doesn’t remember what you have trouble with and reinforce it. It is not worth the $200 I paid for it and now I’m stuck with it..
Great so far
I’m happy that I chose this app. I’m learning Russian and enjoy the lessons. Particularly like the hands free option as it means that I can practice speaking Russian in the car. I recommend it 🙂 I really would like them to add Welsh in the northern dialect to the app
