Unannounced Changes Alter the Game
I have played this game almost daily over the last eight years. While it is like many “freemium” games which offers significant playing advantages to high spenders, over the last six months, they have accelerated this, including altering internal competitions to significantly disadvantage players who do not spend liberally. IMO the game developer has recently made a change that appears to want to drive low/no spending players out of the game entirely. While elements of the game have been fun over the past few years, I can only recommend this game for highly competitive people who do not mind spending hundreds, if not more per month to achieve high status.

I agree with the review that StarsNite said and TOTALLY DISAGREE with the response he got.. the game is all about the money..I can’t even upgrade knowledge to enable me to train Tier IX troops.. that makes the game sucks

At first you can level up pretty quick..once you hit 21 things start to take forever to upgrade im talkin weeks..it’s clearly pay to win..otherwise the bigger players will make sure you never reach their power..cool to play for a couple weeks though

Why? ••Your account will never belong to you .. read company regulations. It belongs to plarium who can block it or ban you whenever. •• Game is geared towards people who spend 500-1000+ usd per month. Be prepared to stay frustrated- if you don’t. •• Company customer service is awful. You will get reply. But looks very Ai generated. For every issue you report, you will get same reply. ‘We will look into it. Thankyou for reporting’ (no follow up) … ‘our game had no glitch so we can’t help you’ (yup you lost $10 worth stuff) •• you want better similar game? Play whiteout Survival. You can spend $20 a month and be just fine! Thankyou! Hope this helps you save a lot of frustration and money

Do players spend a lot of money? Yes. But you can compete without doing this. Just be prepared to take a bit longer. Get into a good clan. Have fun. You can still get contest rewards, win cvc comps and earn rewards
Used to be good.
Been playing this game for years but now plarium get more and more greedy every month. Update after update costing more and more to stay competitive and once u do the upgrades they make minimal difference to your strength. If u want to play something find a game that doesn’t cost a £1000 per month

Good but
Vikings is an amazing game, but the only thing is your soldiers eat all your food and it is really annoying because you can’t get rid of the soldiers. The only way to get rid of the soldiers is to kill them or disband them. They should make soldiers not eat lots of food that’s the only thing.
Poor game management
I have played this game for many years and tolerated the games approach too pay to play. Recently due to there maintenance they admitted to running early they removed items known as shards which are costly to obtain all because our siege ran into there maintenance schedule which was not notified during the game. We were instead given back troops that died. Plarium are going down hill and I would advise any new players to not waste your earnings on this game.

My next entry: they just broke the game and are again, lying about it! They added a new feature Monster Generator (which allows the player to create an invader or ghost on their own.) I believe this feature was introduced without adequate testing because now, no resource lairs are produced when killing ghosts or invaders. These resource locations are the literal lifeblood of the gameplay. When I reported the bug I was told by support that it is the new design change, but other kingdoms are still today posting results showing that their’s are working as expected. Support is lying and not escalating the Fatal Bug! > > > My original honest review (below the line) just got a reply from the developer. They said, “Thanks for the review. We process each request individually. Please tell us more about the difficulties you have faced by email and we will assist you. We'rewaiting for your feedback.” Well, it would seem to me that they’ve already got my feedback. Although my negative review may have gotten their attention briefly, it is highly unlikely anything different will be done this time - but, I will send a copy of my previously ignored complaint to the address they provided to see. I will update with any positive changes... If there is no update - then it just means my recommendation given here stands. ------------------------------------------- After year's of frustrating play, where other players don't honor their agreements, I’d finally accepted that players with bad attitude were just a part of the game I was going to have to accept. What has finally, after several years, led me to post this review has been the consistently bad attitude, Service (servers continually going down, server lag causing one to miss plays or get killed, etc.), and dealing with a company that is fully incapable of even the slightest understanding of what the word Support means. I can say, without reservation, that for the money required for you to effectively play at the higher levels (and if you want to quickly succeed at the lower levels) this has to be some of the worst support I have ever received. After several years, I have finally determined (after this final fiasco) that I will play out the value of my accounts, and never again play again afterwards. Waiting for several days for the delivery of crucial purchased resources within the game, being charged for those undelivered items accompanied by a refusal to refund the money, having those items then credited to the wrong account... I am done with it! I was a fool to continue playing. My advice: Don't be a fool and don’t start playing this game in the first place.
Light at the end of a tunnel
There are many good features to this game,but it is hard to play solo, you need a strong clan. Without partners the targets are getting harder or impossible to reach. The light at the end of the tunnel keeps moving to stop you reaching it. Instead of making towers 1-6 easy and higher levels harder the low number towers have been made too strong. A degree of balance would make the game better.
Upgrades
Good game but the update of things is taking to, I’ve 1 that’s going to take 4 weeks, really.
New Players Please Read
This game was extremely fun to play when it was still newer. Presently the game is approaching 1000 kingdoms, when I started the newest kingdom was 83. Back then the game was a blast, wasn’t crazy expensive and relatively easy to be competitive if you were willing to spend a little on it. Now, I wouldn’t suggest starting unless you’re willing to drop tens of thousand of dollars. They say it’s free to play, which it is, as long as all you want to do is start an account and play FarmVille. It is impossible to play competitively free and many of the items needed to play competitively are not free. The volume of updates, which all require spending to accomplish have ruined the game for anyone that’s not one of their whales (big spenders). Now, if your rich and willing to spend absurd amounts of money on a pointless games go for it, you’ll have a blast. If that’s not you I wouldn’t suggest this game.
Different RTS game apart from competitors. It lets you shield for unlimited time.

Good game, getting more complicated all the time but you have to spend money to compete effectively. I have read many reviews some of which I agree with some not. the fact is it’s a game you can play without spending cash but it’s very difficult and slow to progress. the only way to be effective is to buy mega packs. that said you need to be in a kingdom that has strong clans otherwise you loose all competitions but strong clans can be hard on small to medium sized players in my experience as they want you to max out in comps or get kicked and you can’t progress if your not in a clan. Some clans try to control a particular kingdom and won’t let anyone in that is not a big enough influence player which spoils the game for me.
Game looks really cool but…
It’s too hard to understand anything, there’s nothing in-game to help you understand anything. Also there is an online FAQ and other things but I’ve always thought that’s horrible design. The game should let you know how to play it, in the case of very high complexity games, there should be guides right there within the game that are easily accessible at every step. Someone panicking because they don’t understand the game will not just go check out some guides, because once you put the game down, it doesn’t feel like you’re playing anymore and you will just do something else. Update to the developer response, there’s no “how to play” tab in the menu… There’s a game guide which is a very intimidating index sorted alphabetically with game jargon and you’re left confused if you’re in need of actual guidance on what to do.
Mixed feelings
First of all, I like this game to an extent. The things you can do in the game are pretty good but they’ll appeal so much to P2W players so much. VIP 100… no F2P player will ever reach that within 2yrs unless they join the best clans that are likely already full This game isn’t clash of clans and neither is it Vikings:war of the clans… it’s Vikings: war of the whales. And if you’re not a whale then you’re insignificant in your own kingdom and basically nonexistent in major events… getting certain resources is also difficult without spending an X amount but luckily that’s improved over the years but wait until they drop a new update like they just recently did and drop packs related to said update lol I’m a whale so I don’t really care much about that but this is what puts a lot of people off about the game and it’s become very niche that leans towards those who spend and those who are carried by those who spend
Not The Same
This game used to be fun where you spend just a little money and still enjoy the game. Now it has become a money robbery scheme. The developers are building an enterprise for themselves based off profit, I get. Not going to hate but I also won’t be participating upon understanding how things work ✌️
Overtime pay required to play
I have played Vikings since before Aristocrat mobile and MTG owned Plarium from 2015 to present day. I wanted to dial in a few facts supporting the 1 star review. 1. Plariums customer support absolutely sucks and they are 1000% copy paste responses and beat around the bush that never helps your issue. 2. Literally a 1/4 of the in-town screen is bank offers. Floating majorly around $10-100. If that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what else to say. 3. The game is pay to play, I have wasted thousands on this game of the course of 11 years. 4. The game is no longer fun for numerous reasons. The updates are non stop. You cannot keep up with the updates no matter your play strategy without paying approximately $200-500 per update depending on significance. 5. Constant lagging 6. Any legendary event is already owned by whales who are suspected to be handicapped with money to spend and they absolutely will not give up.

Used to be enjoyable
But then they introduced Helheim, with possibly the most boring drawn out sequence ever devised in a “game”. The rewards for completing it are great but the effort and number of screen hours (days, months, years) required is immense. Calling it tedious is a compliment.
Rich people game
The league levels should based on how much players spend to play. So those dropping $1000 a month should be in competition against each other. And those who haven’t spent money should be against each other. Or go by influence. I have personal competitions and I’m in the same league as players 10 times my size.

Updates for spenders’s only
Unfortunately, all the fun in this game has gone for 90% of the community and the developers will not listen. They just keep adding updates and catering to the players that spend money and I’m not talking small amount of money. You have to spend a huge amount of money to keep up in this game. I personally am slowing down and not playing as much because it is not fun anymore. If they could just stop the updates and let the players enjoy the game or maybe listen to the English community suggestions instead of only a select few that would be great, but unfortunately, like I said, the developers are out of touch and don’t care what the community thinks it’s all about spending for bank packs to keep up these days.

Now I wouldn’t mind spending $50 on a cheeky little phone game, if it would benefit you. I’ve done that on previous games and after a month of playing them I was placing top 10 on the server in troop kills events, etc. This game is not that type of game. The devs are more racketeers than software developers. Spend gold to unlock top tier troops, then spend gold to train them. Then they’re completely useless, unless you complete all the knowledge associated with them. The only reason I still play this game is to see the hero attack animation when you attack Norther Vultures.

- (o_o) - \/ \/ It’s a good game and many, many people say that it’s pay to win But I I’m a lvl 21 who hasn’t quit and I haven’t spend a single dollar on this game. Some of the stronger players definitely spend cash on this game but I’m doing all right. If your in a good clan with strong members you can get by pretty well. When you don’t you can look for a clan that’s not dead and have good members (I know about the clans that you need to send a request to) The one thing that I hate is when your shield runs out at a non reasonable time and some strong player will absolutely destroy you... other than that I like it
Ubba upgrades rip off
It’s extremely infuriating when you work for weeks gathering materials for just one upgrade then have a message saying 100% chance of upgrade only to lose all the mats you’ve gathered when the upgrade fails. By all means keep the Hellheim fire, but the hard won and costly mats? This smells of Plarium ripping off the players. Not a good look if you want your top players to stay in the game. I received a wholly unsatisfactory response from Plarium about this matter. It is not just me saying this, there are a great many players saying all Plarium are doing is ripping them off with this. Plarium has become too greedy and is not listening to the players. Still another unsatisfactory message from the developers. There are thousands and thousands of people unhappy with losing all their hard won mats with unsuccessful upgrades. Instead of spouting the same response you need to do something about this. Yet again Plarium have come back simply reiterating how the system works. Let’s be clear here. WE KNOW HOW IT WORKS, WE THINK IT IS UNFAIR AND WANT IT CHANGED SO WE RETAIN THE MATS IF IT IS UNSUCCESSFUL. Now please give me a response.

It’s a great platform for multiplayer interaction, with a heavy focus on team play. Lots of things to learn, lots of people to have fun with! Wish that there was a push notification for when your shield was about to drop (like the push notification for when a military boost is about to expire) Downside: essentially need to pay to play, as the cost of upgrades swiftly outgrows the ability to produce the requirements to do so :)
All the new updates
It is supposed to be a war strategy game but Helheim has nothing to do with strategy and it is a slot machine in the strategy game. A huge negative point. Specifically the very last step of the Helheim. You may pass the last node with 3 stars and in the same token, you may fail without even a star with the same gear or champion setup. where is the strategy here? You just have to waste your time for many hours playing luck in a strategy game. Just not a good setup for the players looking for the strategy game. Dot hire a slot machine developer for the development of this game. Too many unsatisfied players.
