Best Pantry APP

This app has made our life so much easier in taking control of our inventory management for our home and bed and breakfast.

Excellent Excellent

You will not be sorry with this application it’s the best of the best. Now if they could tie “InstaCart” with this program we would have the ultimate grocery and shopping and inventory list application. Keep up the great work Guys. Raymond Alfano

My dad and I love this app! It has been so so helpful in keeping track of what we have. Our only feedback would be that we’d love the ability to add our own categories, or for there to be more categories added as my dad scans everything that has a barcode!

Really handy, but gross that you charge money to add any more than 200 items…

Please don’t mess with a good thing lol, it works amazing as it is, update it if you need to but the way you can scan everything in and it usually knows exactly what it is is so cool, and in the event it doesn’t, I like that I can contribute a picture and some info, and then it WILL be recognized by someone else’s app, keep this the way it is more or less and I’ll keep using it

Could be even better

Love the app - but they really need to add the option to manually type in a UPC code. Sometimes the camera isn’t the best option. Sometimes I want to use my physical scanner. Sometimes the barcode is damaged and I want to just type the numbers instead of entering the item in as a new product. I would even accept batch uploading a collection of UPCs but the app doesn’t allow that either.

Amazing Fantastic App

This app is wonderful. It is clean and well designed and makes tracking pantry inventory a breeze. I use this regularly as I decant my items into glass for ease and organization, and it’s helpful to keep on hand the brands, instructions and expiry dates. As well as knowledge of any recalls you have all the info! A must have for anyone who buys packaged food!

Seems very efficient

Edit: I have downgraded my rating as I got logged out and cannot get back in for an app that I paid for. I keep trying to reset my password and the reset email never arrives. Been checking for over half an hour. Of course without being logged in there seems to be no way to contact any customer service either!!!! They are thieves since I have paid for a service that they are not providing me a way to access. I have been using this app for a short amount of time. There is at least one feature that I believe most everyone would find helpful to have added…the ability to indicate items (or a portion of the item) that are already going to be used in planned meals. I do my meal planning on Wednesday, put together my grocery order for pickup on Saturdays (if not done early I don’t get the time slot needed based upon my work schedule). I found myself having to review what my meal plans are to make sure that items in my freezer or pantry are not needed for a recipe. The other feature which I know would benefit me and perhaps a few others is if it would integrate with eMeals and my WalMart grocery app (don’t expect this as it would require a lot of coordination between many different companies as you couldn’t just go with one grocery order app or meal planning app).

good simple pantry app

it’s a really good app and really useful when I’m out and can’t remember if I have something or not in the fridge or pantry. The one thing I really don’t like is that everytime the app refreshes on a new day or a new release happens all the ingredients are marked as a blue dot which usually means you added something new, even though it’s been there already.

— Capnsnake

★★☆☆☆ Canada · v2.6.6 · 17 May 2020

Way too complicated for my purposes.

It won’t let you add a new food without a photo, and you have to jump through 8 different windows in order to enter anything at all. I just want to be able to list what I’ve got in the fridge.

If it only worked as advertised

I spent days putting my entire food inventory in and now some of it is missing. What’s going on? I can find the food in my timeline but it doesn’t show up in my inventory. What a waste of time. I would have sent a private note but this is the only way I can see to communicate

Store checkout doesn’t work

Whether I’m in the store or outside of the store, I can’t check out with my items. It says looking for location as in the stores location. It doesn’t matter what store I use. Costco, Smith’s, Nel’s Bilo or Fred Meyer’s

Good, but could be better

This works pretty well. It’s great that I can share it with my spouse and we can keep track of what’s in our pantry. The one thing that would make it easier to use if it was really quick to get to the barcode scanner. They could do that by adding actions if you press and hold on the icon on the Home Screen of your iPhone. But the best way of all would be to have a custom URL protocol or a Shortcuts action. If they did that somebody could put an NFC tag on their pantry door, tapping it with their phone would launch them right to the barcode scanner. You could even have two tags: one for looking something up and a second for adding items. This is an iPhone app: it would be great if it took advantage of useful features of iOS to make it less of a hassle to use.

★★★☆☆ United States · v2.9.1 · 25 Apr 2026

Almost perfect

I have been using the app for a few months and it really good. Scans fast and easy to add unidentified items and move products around. My only struggle is that I REALLY want to set my own categories and be able to organize the categories manually. I waste too much time finding and organizing based on automatic categories.

Not family friendly

When my husband and I paid for the panzy app we fully expected it to have a login option so we could log into the same account on our iphones. We each have our own iCloud account and there is evidently no way to link our use of the app. What good does that do us when we share cooking and shopping? Plus there is no contact or support for the app. Very very disappointed.

Very Handy

I am so happy I found this app. My wife doesn’t do steps and all our extra supplies are downstairs. Instead of running down with a list or trying to remember her list for getting meals ready or ordering things, I can just open the app and find what we have. I find the interface a little inconsistent but once you get a hang of it, it’s usable. I wish there were features that could be turned on and off. In my example, expiration dates are useless. Let me turn them off.

Perfectly functional

This pantry inventory app that allows you to scan barcodes and add expiration dates two items works amazingly well. Scanning the barcode pulls back pictures of the exact item. It is very quick and very easy to use. It even makes a satisfying 'boop' sound when the item is scanned. I'll be subbing when I hit the limit.

Great app, but IOS only

I really like this app! It’s easy to use, you can add locations for you items and it classifies the inventory well. My only problem is that it’s only available for IOS, and my husband has android. This makes it complicated as he uses things and they don’t get marked off. I know they’re working on a android version, hopefully it comes out soon.

Okay

One critique I have for the app is when it refreshes, all the catalogues/locations collapse and i have to expand all the ones I want (which is most of them) one by one. An expand/collapse button would be nice.

Practical and helpful!!

Very helpful so far! Easy to use and love the expiration tracking. I wish it had a ‘desired stock qty’ per item that would make creating a generated shopping list more accurate, but either way, this app is ABSOLUTELY worth using.

Did not record all inventory

Spent 1 hour scanning over 200 products, when completed, only about 30 items were in my inventory. The bar codes produced the picture of the actual product, so what gives. Do I have go back and it again? Not happy as no warnings came up

Better than the CozZo app, but unfortunately doesn’t let you list item quantity in weight or physicality which is crucial for produce or meats.

★★★☆☆ Canada · v2.8.2 · 9 Jan 2022

Great for knowing what you have But needs to do more.

I love the user friendly and minimalist design, has majority of items and adding items it doesn’t is simple. If you go over 200 items it prompts you to pay a reasonable fee which is fine, just wish you could use the app for recipe suggestions based on what you have. Don’t really see much use in it besides tracking what you have and honestly don’t think that’s worth paying for, I can do that in my notes. Kind of disappointing that it doesn’t include the recipe suggester.

★☆☆☆☆ Canada · v2.8.3 · 27 Aug 2022

Not user friendly

Very hard to navigate. Adding inventory is easy but changing quantities or removing items should be much simpler. Should be able to share the app and allow family members to use it, otherwise they have to write down what they use when you are not there. Might work for a single person but terrible for a family with kids old enough to cook. Not worth the bother.

★★★★☆ United Kingdom · v2.8.3 · 12 Apr 2022

Good, but missing a key step

I really like this app, but it's really frustrating that you can only add photos of products you take with your camera - then have to doctor the picture using the app. Why can't I just upload a picture?!? Then I can use the pictures from the manufacturer / producer - which are 100 times better than my grainy photos.

Lifesaving!

I’m not sure what I would do without this app! Honestly. I’ve used it for many years now and it’s proven indispensable. I’m disabled, bed bound, and unable to visually access my refrigerator, pantry, etc. I use the app to keep track of everything, with my caregivers scanning in new items. I especially love the product photographs as I can show them exactly what they need to be looking for when I request something. The shopping list section works brilliantly. There’s a bit of a learning curve involved, but I now have my usage tweaked to suit me. I really appreciate all the flexibility. There are still new discoveries from time to time. Thanks, Pantry Check developers!

The best in its category

I’ve tried a bunch of these grocery inventory manager apps and so far, this has the best and most intuitive UX - I like the quick add option so I can just photograph and barcode tag things as I get them home from the store, and come back to add detailed info later. Compared to other ones which have a low maximum for their free version, I haven’t run out of space yet for my usual stocks. I’d love for there to be a bit more barcode recognition (maybe tie into another nutrition API?) and being able to pin favourite categories so I don’t have to keep searching for a list, but this is the most trustworthy and smooth apps that I’ve used. Props to the developer and I hope you keep improving the already great app.

Stellar

Review: The End of "Do We Have Eggs?" Panic Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’ve ever stood in the grocery aisle staring blankly at a carton of milk, wondering if the one at home is half-full or a science experiment, Pantry Check is about to change your life. It’s rare to find an app that actually solves a "mental load" problem rather than just adding another digital chore to your list, but this is it. Here is why it’s a permanent resident on my home screen: Why It’s Stellar: * Effortless Inventory: The barcode scanner is snappy and reliable. I spent twenty minutes scanning my pantry, and now I have a digital twin of my kitchen. * Expiration Tracking: This is the "killer feature." It sends gentle nudges when items are nearing their end. It’s saved me dozens of dollars by reminding me to use that heavy cream before it turns into cheese. * Smart Shopping Lists: It bridges the gap between "I'm out of this" and "I need to buy this" perfectly. When you use the last of the olive oil in the app, it can automatically jump onto your shopping list. * Reduced Waste: Beyond saving money, it feels great to actually finish what you buy. It’s the ultimate tool for sustainable, conscious eating. The Bottom Line: Pantry Check turns the chaos of a kitchen into a streamlined system. It’s intuitive, sleek, and—most importantly—it works. Whether you’re a meal prepper or just someone tired of buying a third jar of cumin "just in case," you need this app. "I no longer manage a pantry; I manage a high-efficiency kitchen, all thanks to this app."

Fake, Useless Scanner

The so-called “best barcode scanner” doesn't recognize ANY products. It picks the code and then you have to enter the product name - completely useless! What is the point if having search and features that use the scanner if it doesn’t work?
