I absolutely love this app! It connects seamlessly with my Apple Music library and gives me a completely different way to enjoy my music. The interface is beautiful, simple, and easy to use, and I love the way the Now Playing screen looks with the album artwork. Everything feels smooth and well designed. If you use Apple Music and want a fresh music player experience, I definitely recommend giving this app a try! ❤️

Previous Versions Were Better
The app was great until about the last couple of years, I wish it could go back to the 2023-24 which was version was perfect for my needs as a music listener. Recent versions have lost some of the previous sorting features and customization while simultaneously mimicking many unfavourable design choices from Apple Music which was the whole point of getting this app as an alternative. I’ve read some feedback from the developer something along the lines that the goal of the app was to “keep pace with Apple Music while giving an offline option” but in my opinion having the focus being on a classic looking music player is more what attracted us to the app. It doesn’t matter if it looks matter if it looks more square/rectangular or “outdated” that’s was always the appeal! The Liquid Glass and rounded edges on everything is especially disappointing. At best it would be good to give some optionally to turn on or off these features. CS was my favourite music player app for many years and I wish it would go back to that winning formula of a classic music player instead of uncritically emulating everything (whether it is good or not) coming from Apple Music.
What happened
Worked great for years. Maybe I need to give for another coffee or pizza. I would if I knew it would bring back playability 😕

No user guide
I can’t figure out how to download music to the app and I can’t find instructions anywhere. Not super tech savvy so might just be me but would probably be helpful for a lot of people to have.
I love it… but one minor qualm.
I love this app. It’s a clean UI interface, and everything you need is just right there. The only thing I think is important is better Apple Music integration. It should also have search have the option for Apple Music search and allow you to, if you have an Apple Music subscription, listen to/download music from there.
Unnecessary flare replaces simple functionality
BUG UPDATE - saved podcast episodes started landing in my music playlists. I don't have any podcast shows or episodes in my music library. I use the podcast app for those. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This seems to be a "more flare, less function" release. Please return the metadata sheet to its previous functionality. I used to one-tap on the song title many times a day to see its metadata. Now there's a pointless additional menu that adds no additional functionality, only yet another tap to get at the metadata with no additional benefit that I can see. There's also no way that I can find to list and play all songs by an artist in order, which was a brilliantly simple feature in the last iteration that I used at least once or twice a week. Now the songs are listed alphabetically by album. Who listens to an album alphabetically?!? Put back the “Show All Songs” button in the artist list to show all the Artist's songs chronologically. Finally, bring the album title back to the player controls, especially since you now require an additional tap to identify it. There's plenty of room for it in the big blob of white space below the player controls.
Frustrating app
I love this app! The layout is simple and great. But it's also super frustrating because NEARLY every time I open it, it hangs there in a frozen state and I have to close it, reopen, close, reopen, 2-3 times before it is actually usable. Developer, please! Work out this bug. It makes a good app incredibly frustrating to use!
Still the best!
I genuinely appreciate the slow, steady pace of this app. Updates don’t come every other day like so many vibed-out apps these days, and that feels intentional, in a good way. The developer takes their time, the app stays stable, and it just does a darned good job at the one thing I want it to do: play my music. No constant churn, no needless reinvention, just a solid music player that works. I’ll take thoughtful, deliberate development over an endless stream of updates any day. Keep it up!
Pointless App
This app is actually pointless You cant add any music from anywhere else than apple music library If i wanted to use apple music library , i would use the iphone’s default music app
Bring back audiobook playlists!?
I have audiobook chapter playlists built thru iTunes, yes iTunes, not the music app. I have an older version of this app (5.0.11) that shows those playlists. It’s amazing. Anyway to bring that function back?
Startup issues
Edit: Is the startup issue ever going to be fixed? This has been my go-to for many years, but I haven’t been using it much recently because it takes 3-4 tries to launch it. Tried it again and it STILL has the same issue. This has been going on since iOS 18 came out.
Option to remove artwork in Genres.
Long-time user here. I really enjoy the extra customization we get with this app as opposed to Apple’s locked up music app. The one thing I prefer about Apple’s app is that the genres don’t have any artwork next to them. It’s just plain, neutral text. It makes sense to have artwork for the Artist and Album tabs but I don’t want to see one artist plastered over a genre all the time. The genre tab has so many view options but none to hide the artwork.
Please don’t update to Liquid Glass!
This app does an awesome job at replicating the classic music experience on iOS, which is a minimal and declutterred way to access your personal music library. It also looks very clean and bespoke, and I don’t want to see it ruined by the new SDK that forces glass elements🤞
It’s Dead!
Man, I used to love this app. Waay better than Apple Music. But, for some reason, it has stopped working. My guess is that encoding or file format has changed. The songs just don’t play. Too bad.
Almost perfect
Why did we lose the alphabet down the right hand side of the artist view? That was so handy. Now I have to scroll forward to get to the Y’s and Z’s. Otherwise I love this app. Far superior to Apple Music.
Slow and buggy
For years this was my primary music app, but in the last several months it has gotten really laggy and buggy. This used to be the best app for queuing up lots of music, and now that functionality is basically lost. It’s a shame because if this app worked like it’s meant to it would still be my favorite, but right now it’s practically unusable.

Been using this app for years. This is how I prefer to be able to see my music I have on my device; I’m not interested in Apple’s streaming service and sorting is front and center, not buried in menus. Happy to see it is still being actively updated too.
No longer the default player
I love this app but recently Apples “Music” app has taken over as the default player. I can’t seem to once again make C’s the default player. :-( Update: down 2 stars to 1 since the Apple Music app has completely usurped Cs. Cs is unusable in this form. Apple’s app now plays ALL music!!
Great app, but bug issue
Been using this app for quite a while. Clean, minimal and customizable to exactly what I want, it’s been a great value. Unfortunately it the past few months it loads frozen every time I swap back to it after a period of disuse. I have to swap to it, close it and reopen it every time before use. Nowhere in app to contact the developer, so leaving feedback here. If this bug is fixed, def a 5 Star app for me and will update review.
My review was removed
My original review was removed but as stated this new update took away the old player and added what feels just like the Apple Music app. Some options settings were removed, I also didn’t like that the full dark background was replaced by the light grayish background, please bring it back. I literally had to fully restored my iPhone to have the older version and removed automatic updates, went from a 5 to 2 stars review for me.

Better UI features!
Yay! Version 7.2, running on iOS 26.0.1, the “Play Later” feature works! Thanks for fixing this pesky issue. Works much better than the native Apple Music app.
Constantly crashes/doesn’t load
I’ve been using this music app for many years now and always enjoyed it. The last update killed that for me. It only loads when trying to launch the app every 3 times and it will crash or freeze up sometimes. Looking for a new app because these issues have been going on for months now with no update in sight. What once was an awesome app turned to garbage
Great app with a bug
I’m having an issue lately when I click a song it goes into pause mode and doesn’t auto-play. Some tracks do autoplay as I click them, but some don’t. It’s an odd issue but is annoying because it meant I have to click a file twice to kick it into play mode. A little annoying. Otherwise the best app for playing music on iOS !
Great app, lots of new bugs, support links broken
I love Cesium/Cs and have been using it for many years. I was thrilled to finally see a new major update recently after years of apparent abandonment. However unfortunately the new version introduces a lot of new bugs, and the developer seems to have no way to contact them any more. The email on their website bounces, their twitter acount is deactivated, they apparently have no other web presence I can find. I am posting this review in hopes they will see it and fix this so I can send them bug reports and the app can get back to being a 5 star app.
Update not great
Update 12/17/24: Recent update freezes/crashes frequently. Update 12/15/18: My mistake—repeats in shuffling issue is Apple’s fault, not Cesium’s. I guess the “resume queue” feature was making up for Apple’s shortfalls before. In any event, without queue management both this app and the default music app are pretty worthless. Unfortunate because I love the interface here! Update 12/4/18: Disappointed with new version. I was prepared for queue management to go away (though I miss it dearly) but did not realize that I wouldn't even be able to see upcoming songs. So now I have to use this and the default Music app (which also saves your place in the queue). Hardly efficient. Also, it seems now that shuffling a playlist causes some songs to be duplicated in the list. I can't see this unless I look in the Music app, but I keep hearing songs I've heard earlier in the list, and viewing the Last Played info in this app confirms that. Update 9/24/18: While resume queue now seems to be resuming in the correct place, it now asks if I want to resume CONSTANTLY. As in, even while the queue is currently playing, or if I reopen the app 10 seconds after closing it. Freezing and unresponsive controls are still issues. Update 8/28/18: Unfortunately practically unusable now. Freezes constantly. If you can get it to start playing, going back to the queue later is a lesson in frustration. A cycle of freezing, crashing, and the play button not doing anything. Now I just kick off a playlist in this app and resume playing in Apple Music. Update 8/7/18: Issues below still occurring, but now the app frequently doesn’t bring up the now playing screen after resuming my queue. So the queue resumes in the wrong place (the song plays for a couple seconds then stops) and I can’t even see the song controls or queue to fix it. I have to go to Apple Music to resume my queue. 7/15/18: Have been using this app quite a while now and much preferred it over Apple’s, but the last few updates keep getting worse. Constantly freezes and crashes, sometimes the play button doesn’t work at all (changes to pause as if it’s starting to play, after 2-3 seconds of silence flips back to play), and the queue resuming to the correct spot is about a 50-50 shot. I’m holding out hope it returns to its former glory, because I still hate the Apple Music app.

No alphabet scroll bar?
I’ve been using this app for a long time and love it, but am stumped as to why the alphabet scroll bar was removed during the last update. As someone with 1000+ songs on my phone, to have to scroll for several minutes to find one specific song or artist is ridiculous. Please bring it back!
Used to be Perfect
Was perfect a few updates ago. Big sweeping changes introduced new problems. Now playing only covered 90% of the screen, ratings are not centered anymore, shuffle is constantly being disabled every few songs. I wish I could revert to the previous version. It was perfect.

I am a paying customer and will change the rating once I hear back from Mike. There is zero way to contact Mike, even an old email address I found on his blog bounces. I am interested in customized rewind/fast forward buttons, are they currently available and I don't see it? I'd like the ability to set the rewind/fast forward length to say 10 or 15 seconds.
Love the app, but not the latest update
I’ve been using CS Music for a few years. It’s great the way it lets me catalog my music. My absolute favorite feature was the track grouping function, which you can set up in iTunes. The feature would enable you to play either an entire album, or just the tracks in a particular grouping (for example, listen to any one Beethoven symphony rather than all nine). But with this latest update, that feature seems to be gone. Certainly I can’t find it. I’ve requested help, I’ve even asked if I could download a previous version, but I’ve gotten no response.
Recently played - pls bring back
The update is fine overall but you took away recently played or activity or whatever that tab was called that showed recently played and added music. Please bring it back. Edit 10.31 to say: also realized the option the customize app icon is missing. Why?
Kicks you out of your playlist every time.
I love this App. I haven’t used Apple Music since it came out; CS Music became my main music player but one single issue is that whatever playlist you’re on; whenever the phone’s screen is off, when you go back in the app, it puts you back home, essentially kicking you out of your playlist; you then have to figure out where you were, very frustrating.
What’s missing is a tip jar!
This app is so much better than Apple’s. For some unknown reason, I landed back in Apple’s for a moment and was horrified at how difficult it was to navigate back to my playlist once my song was playing, and that I couldn’t see the composer’s name. You need a tip jar so I can give you one.
Forgets what it was playing
Listening in my car, I pause when I need to get out for 10 minutes or so. When I come back it's forgotten what it was playing. It goes back to the first track in the playlist so you need to find where you were and cue manually. Very annoying. That plus the fact you need to keep the Apple Music app installed when the whole point is you're trying to replace it. Very disappointing. Not sure why it gets so many good reviews.
Album Name
Why was the album name on the now playing screen removed? I really like it and gives it that old iPod nostalgic feel. Is there a way to add it back?
Essential
Play Count and Ratings no longer sync back to iTunes which is a shame. When it starts working again I'll update my review. Other than that, it's great and I've been using it for years.
Hybrid view in new update
I have loved this app for years, but the new update removed my favorite part— the hybrid view. I loved the pinned at the top for quick access, but still able to see the rest of the music. Please bring it back!
Great app! Please add a setting to group compilations
Love the app. By far the best iPhone player for downloaded music. It would really be great to follow other app’s conventions of having a setting to choose to group compilation albums with multiple artists under “various” or “multiple artists”, so when browsing by Genre then Artist/Album, all the compilation albums don’t clog the Artist listing with the dozens or hundreds of single song artists. This also makes it easier to find and play such compilation albums too. Please consider adding this feature? Thank you!

Needs iTunes??
It's a nice app but it seems to need iTunes to manage your music library. iTunes from history. I think there should be other ways to put music onto the app.
Sadly Broken For iOS 15
Really like this app and prior to iOS 15 I used it instead of the stock Music app. Since iOS 15 however the app refuses to display anything except the Cs Music logo UNLESS the stock Music app has been used first to start the music playing. Emailed developer. No response as yet. Such a shame. Back to stock Music app for all my Shortcuts and day to day music needs.
Update is terrible
I was using this app daily for years but after the update is disappointing. There is no longer a tab for new music, recent music, the favorites/loved. It’s p close to a duplicate of the worst music app which is Apple Music app. Hopefully they’ll add some options to allow more customization.
