This app is great to contact my girlfriend who I met in the same facility as the one I went to and to keep in touch with the friends I’ve made For American people it is Canadian only but it’s so convenient instead of waiting for a call they can just text you wow it blew my mind

Notifications
The notifications do not make a sound. If you don’t check your phone or see the notification pop up you won’t know you have a message. It will not make a notification sound.
Punishes Users For Long Messages
It cost $0.20 to send a message with a maximum of up to 2,000 characters. However, they punish you for sending too long of a message. If you send one over 1,000 of the 2,000 allowable characters they will leave it pending for days or may never review it at all. When short messages, in contrast, are approved in hours. Which has to in some way be against apples ToS since we are paying for the service.
Notifications
This app would be great if it notified you of messages. Seem to be an issue with iPhone. I’ve used Samsung and received notifications but when I use my iPhone it won’t even pop up the number on the app or make a sound. Have to constantly check it to see if there are messages. Everyone I know who uses iPhone and uses this app complains about the same thing.

I’ve put $65 into this app and can’t even get a msg out. 0/10 would not recommend. Update, I finally got in to where I can use message and some other stuff, it’s still a POS app. You’d think with the sinful price it at least be worth a damn but it’s really not.

Great Idea, Terrible Delivery
This app is terrible, when you need help it leads you to another app which leads to another to get a response months later. They used to charge $3.33 to add the minimum $10 for messages which were 25 cents each. Now it is $5.45 ish to add $10 and messages are 50 cents. They are ridiculous. I also get contacts added without my approval, I have like 15 inmates which now have my personal phone number and are trying to reach me.
What is going on with this app?
All of my current messages have disappeared along with my contacts. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it signed out nothing.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND APP
They continuously lie and don’t know WTH they’re talking about. I had to get refunded 20 dollars because of a simple lie and now I have to wait for 10$ in the mail for 6-10 weeks with not even a full refund of what I spent. This app is so terrible and their customer service doesn’t even know what the hell they’re talking about! It’s absurd!
Horrible
The app keeps giving me an error message that I cannot get rid of and it freezes the whole app, so I have to delete it and reinstall it. Actually, that used to clear the message and now it does not! What must punish the families, friends, and loved ones as well?
Needs updating
Love that we have the app to talk to our loved ones but hate the fact that it has no ringtone and we have to miss the calls because they don’t announce. We all can’t stare at our phones 24hr a day to wait for the little icon to pop up i think this is a real issue i need to hear the notification this is something that needs fixing

Why does u guys have a app that pictures b pending forever ?
When it works it’s fine, but is very frustrating when it doesn’t.
Compose your messages in a separate word processor and then copy/paste into GettingOut. Because I’m lazy sometimes I don’t do this. So occasionally when I go to send the message it will say “Message exceeds body character limit,” and then deletes the entire message. There is no way to save drafts. Extremely frustrating.
Needs updates or bug fixes
It took over a few hours to send a picture before and you couldn’t leave the screen. Now it always says it’s not working to “try again later”
The absolute worst
Quite possibly the worst designed app I think I’ve ever seen in my life. After speaking with Customer Service three times to send a simple text message to an inmate. The app still doesn’t work and after being on the line with an operator for 15 minutes to try and figure out why they simply hung up. I’ve spent $30 trying to send one text message and can’t do it and spoken to three different reps, and they can’t seem to help. Absolute garbage!
Setting off out works
Still setting of it works. Send messages, and says messages that don’t get through are not refunded… They charge for messages that don’t deliver…. Who the real criminal here?!

Sucks
You can never upload any videos. It’s always saying some kind of error message. The app is annoying as hell to have to deal with for all the money that we pay. You would at least expect a decent app.
Doesn’t even deposit money
This app is terrible and there’s no customer service rep you can even talk to the phone number just gives you the run around bouncing from different options UPDATE THIS APP PLEASE if I can leave no stars I would
Adequate, but …
Remembering first that this is not a commercial app with competitors, it is generally adequate for keeping in touch with family and friends who are compulsory guests of the government Yes, it can be a bit unstable more often than is ideal, but better than snail mail especially for those who need to stay in touch from overseas
STOLEN MONEYYYYY
I would give this app 0 stars if I could! I deposited money to talk to my uncle and all of the sudden the funds went missing overnight and it had said I was messaging two other inmates which I’ve never even heard of in my life! I only my uncle and that’s it. It’s BS I gotta waste my own money for other people’s convo! Ridiculous!

the app itself works okay and i’m able to receive messages but it’s a money grab that i have to pay to speak to my loved one!
I would like my credit back
Before the last update I never had a problem with the app. ever since the new update credits have been taken dramatically in size, normal approval pictures, don’t get approved, but I get paid tax for them like somethings gotta change her because you guys are taking and not sending my pictures and taking my money for calls like that I don’t even make. reimburse my credit. And I will change my review to five stars. Because I really do enjoy the app

it was workin well until the new update crashed & now I can’t view any of the messages except mine. Nor can I see the status.
Thankful for the app regardless
The app, although comes with a lot of glitches and isn’t super reliable as a well working app, is still better than receiving a few phone calls a month. This app has allowed my husband and I to talk daily and I am so grateful for the opportunity to hear his voice every day. The hardship of having a loved one in prison is indescribable, however the reality for my husband is much more grim. This app has brought back some of his feelings of being human, allowing him to participate virtually in my day to day world. He has gone 7 years with little to no outside contact at different times during his sentence, this has been a life changing experience for us. I am truly grateful for the decision that led to this opportunity.
Can’t make a deposit
Deposits not working. I have been unable to communicate with my loved one for two months due to not being able to make a deposit online. The app and the website don’t work. I have tried setting up a new account with a new number and email and it still doesn’t work. They always say they can take the card info over the phone which i refuse due to someone using my card information to make personal purchases. They need to do better and f ix the issue.
Update done
I update the new version and now it won’t let me go on the app keeps saying update available and I did it 😡
New app is poo.
As out dated as the old app was this new app is POO! It keeps crashing, logging me out, not letting me open all messages and taking literally over a minute to open a message! I have gone back to using my browser on my iPhone for this reason. Messaged the company with the issues and have had no response. THIS APP NEEDS FIXING.
