Practical & still getting better
I use UniChar primarily as a way to add symbols for renaming Pokemon in PokeGo. It made life so much easier for gaming! Sorting & assigning characters & symbols to represent skills, elements & stats saved hours of time once setup. UniChar has been useful outside gaming too when I needed to find & enter symbols not supported by the default iOS Keyboard. The most surprising part was how responsive the developer was. Every-time I ran into issues & contacted him (via the support email), he replied within a few days & addressed the issues once confirmed with an update. Thank you for making UniChar.

Update Broke
This app used to be great. I’ve used it daily for years, but the most recent update broke it badly. Tons of characters are missing from the actual keyboard now (unfortunately, ones that I regularly use), and the character display size on the keyboard is too large to be usable. I’d love to see it returned to its original functionality. The only features I’d like to see added, to the extent possible, would be: (1) add a search feature into they keyboard like the one in the app, and (2) install a relatively complete font that includes many of the Unicode characters that are missing from the basic iOS fonts (e.g. the et ligature characters).
Unbelievable there's no iCloud syncing
Probably around 3 years ago I spent a long time favoriting hundreds and hundreds of characters. There was an issue with the app, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. They're all gone. I'm also pretty sure I contacted you about this app and requested iCloud syncing around that time. I don't use the symbols as much anymore, but just very disappointing to see that everything I saved is now gone
A great app
Its a great app! And i like the variety of symbols i can choose! and the "favorites" place for the keyboard is pretty cool!
The scripts and extensions not showing but…
It says “Unlock All Categories”. Don’t pay for R$29.90! This is not free for most users, please don’t install it. Thank you.
Very useful to find special characters
I find this to be an essential app on my devices. I’m a big confused about the search by drawing function. My attempts to draw a flat symbol does not seem good enough to get the actual flat symbol. Or a sharp symbol for that matter. In the widget the drawing thing that pops up confuses me. Is it to practise my drawing skills? Drawing with my finger is never very tidy. On my iPad I would use my Apple Pencil but on my iPhone my finger does not provide good results. Why is it asking me to draw characters other than what I’m looking for? When I get to this drawing screen what I’m actually trying to do is find a specific character. Drawing it in the provided space is not having the expected result. I suspect I am not understanding the instructions correctly. In fact I find the instructions confusing.

Terrible, terrible, terrible.
This is a pay app. I was looking for the “plus-minus” symbol and had to scroll through a dozen or more categories and hundreds and hundreds of characters/symbols before it appeared in the “mathematical’ category. You cannot see all the categories and cannot scroll them so you cannot filter a category that you cannot see. I was left having to wade through hundreds and hundreds of characters before finding the plus-minus symbol. Only to be surprised by the pay-wall when I tried to insert the character in my text. Hiding the pay-wall until the last possible moment is unethical and poor business. Delete that app!
Useful with one potential caveat
I find this keyboard convenient when typing notes for my math and computer science courses. The favourites category is good for keeping frequently used characters in one place, but I think the app would benefit from allowing for a user to select multiple characters at one to add to favourites. As of now you have to do it one by one and that can be frustrating.
Quits Unexpectedly every time now after Purchase
I had purchased this app a couple of weeks ago and recently it has started quitting unexpectedly every time I click a character to be copied. It has been like this for a couple of days now. If it were fixed I would give it at least 3 or 4 stars.
New Update Broke Keyboard on iOS 26.3
The keyboard used to work just fine, after the most recent update inputs get ignored and cycle to the next installed keyboard. I must then cycle through each keyboard to get back to UniChar to type a few characters before the cycle repeats.

Was charged $5 without my consent
This dev is a shyster. Do not download. I downloaded this app about a week ago but did not purchase anything, nor did I sign up for a free trial to the paid content. I left the paid content behind the paywall and did not request access to it. Yet I was charged $5 today without my consent. There’s no place in the app that I can find to change this, and it does not show up in my iCloud subscriptions.
Keyboard setup is confusing (edited)
The instructions for setup are wrong. There's no "UniChar" in my Preferences. For a while there was no "UniChar" in the list of keyboards, but then it appeared after I moved the app to the Home Screen. Is this needed for the keyboard to show up? I don't know! I still don't have it in the main Preferences, so either way, the instructions are out of date and cause unnecessary confusion and anger. Previous review: I paid $5 for something I could get from a quick browser search. I'm very disappointed.
Question mark blocks
Even after paying the $4.99, a majority of the symbols only display as boxed question marks. Not at all what I paid for,

Unique functionality
But there’s a few things that could make it better. Not that it needs these features, but searching by visually similar symbols (the same way the macOS Unicode pane does) would be great. Rarely am I searching for a symbol because of its actual meaning but simply because of how it looks. I do love the favorites, something macOS does not let you do or maybe I just haven’t found i yet. Maybe not the best keyboard, but the app is super useful. Maybe at least allow adding symbols to favorites while in the keyboard mode, that would be nice.

Needs More to be Worth $6.99
You have a very polished application here but there’s one feature missing that I consider quite glaring -being able to search unicode characters by name or even by code would probably make it worth buying. -A scribble search in the keyboard would be an instant buy. -I would also appreciate folders, The favourites thing is probably sufficient but folders are always nice too
Really Good App, But…
So, UniChar is a really good app. I use it every day, definitely worth the money spent. Just, I wish you could add a feature where you can press a button and it downloads some font/fonts that support most of not all Unicode characters. Another idea, you could add a feature that allows you to view all the characters that are supported in the font that you are using.

Almost perfect
I just wish it had a search in the keyboard, so I could find characters quickly without changing to the app!
Keyboard function
The app is great but I have not found out if it is possible to add a set of characters to the keyboard. For example, I do not think it is possible to add glagolitic characters to the keyboard to use outside of the app. If they had this function it would be 5 stars.

My keyboard disappeared
I have been happily using this keyboard for months. Then suddenly it was gone . The app symbol will not stay loaded. It no longer shows in my keyboard listing. And it will not let me down load it again. I want it back

I downloaded this, hoping to find one of the most basic characters for a North American... the sign for cent (which should honestly be available on a standard iOS keyboard). I was surprised to find out that YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE in order to get this simple, basic character. Alright, NEXT.
