Great tool to see heat loss
FLIR helped us target areas of heat loss and address them . Looking forward to lower fuel costs
Firmware update broke my unit
Performed the latest firmware update and now my unit won’t connect to my wifi. I’ve reset the unit, deleted and redownloaded the app, reset my iPhone 100x. Nothing is fixing the issue. Thank you for the frustration with the amazing update!
Ok but watch out
Works great. The only thing, just a reminder to those looking to buy one is that, for those who have upgraded their iPhones, which I have the iPhone 16 pro max, the camera is no longer is usable because the phone now uses a usb-c. Just to be able to use it I bought a usb-c lightning adapter. I’m not even sure if the usbc camera will work on this because it says “android only” Update: I was contacted and apparently there is a new version of USB-C of the camera for IOS. Awesome.
Not as anticipated
Poor connect-ability making setup take tens of minutes not seconds. User interface not great either. For the cost of the kit, which seems great, the app seriously lets the side down
New app not as great
I love my camera but the recent app updates have been clunky. I have a lightening port version of the camera and it used to work great. Now it has trouble connecting and disconnects for no reason.
FLIR is love
I would like to give FLIR the highest possible rating and they have great customer service. Thank you so much 😊
App does not work on iphone 17 pro max.
I plugged in my flir one after fully charging it, held the power button and then waited for it to start flashing green, and it just sat on the stupid screen telling me how to connect. Tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling the app and the same problem. The camera worked fine on my android, so I can only assume it's ios being garbage. Putting 1 star for now, if an update is put out fixing it I'll give a 5 star which is what it would be if it connected.
iPhone 16
Do you make the same camera for the iPhone 16 the 16 has a Samsung USB connector
Stopped working on iPhone 16 pro max
It stopped working on iphone 16 pro max , can not connect via addapter. I have used compatible adapter, but no luck.
Poor UX, only real option
The user interface is counterintuitive and does not allow for simultaneous capture in infrared and visible, which is a feature of other cameras clear produces. Similarly, the connection between the phone and the camera are extremely unstable, and the camera drops its own Wi-Fi signal frequently and has to be rebooted. I can usually get about three pictures before I have to shut down and restart both the app. Customer service was blind and unhelpful.
Great for finding animals
At night I look for rats and raccoons I’ve found a family of raccoons and a lot of rats running around in the forest with this, it is also good for finding leaks.
It is not working ob iphone 16 plus
It’s not working
Alles gut…
… nur das Starten der App dauert recht lange und der Akku ist recht schnell leer.
Ot connecting to iPhone 15
Flir One Pro worked fine with Android phone but refuses to connect to iPhone 15 Pro. Goes from red to flashing green but doesn’t ever actually connect. Cycled power on phone, uninstalled and reinstalled app etc. but still the same. Now I’m in a bind and can’t complete a time critical project. 🤬
Good - but could be better
Love what the app can do but it’s not very user friendly to use the camera with the unit on the bottom , when you rotate the phone 180 so the camera is on top some of the display will rotate with the phone but the record and shutter button does not which is pretty poor. Also not to happy that you make a product designed especially for an iPhone/iPod but don’t have the software that you have for windows available for a Mac. Pretty pointless, if I knew this before I’d of looked at another thermal camera system.
Founder
Outstanding
Hard nope
Never got to try the app. was going to purchase a FLIR one for personal use after using a flir at work. , wanted to explore the too and pricing. never got todo it because of terms and conditions that had to be accepted. completely unacceptable in its scope. Well beyond what i am comfortable agreeing to.
not for iPad
The App works okay with my Apple SE phone (2020 model), but It will not work with my 11" Pro iPad. The Camera flashes green, to show the connection, but that is all. I'm using a lightning to USB Type C adapter, which I know works as it allows me to connect my iPhone and iPad to my Windows laptop to upload and download photos.
Why does it need full access to photos
This app used to work with limited access (add only). Now it needs full access so it can see all of my photos. Why?
If only there weren't privacy issues
Know how sometimes there's something in life that would be absolutely perfect – but one little thing spoils it? I *love* this app, and it works as advertised – it makes it super simple to add thermal imaging to your phone when you have the FLIR ONE. But to save any photos, you have to give *full access* to your photo library. Why? To be frank, I don't really trust any developer to have access to all of my photos – especially when iOS specifically has an option to give add-only access to the library (or pick specific photos to access). Alas, the "Limited Access" option doesn't work with this app. Until that's supported, the option to save any photos from the app is off the table for me.
Great tool for the kit
valued piece of tech. I rescue animals. many are new born, kittens especially, they’re dropped off at night by people with no good sense. I use the FLIRONE to find them in the dark. They’ve run and hid in the ground cover and cry. Their crying gets you close enough to you the FLIR then they glow bright in the pitch dark. FLIR has saved a lot of these cute little critters from a bad way. The price is perfectly fair and a piece of FLIR tech should be in everyone’s toolkit.
Bad customer service
The worst customer service ever, I spent over $400 on the camera, sent many emailed to customer service and received no answer, tried to call and that didn’t work. Don’t invest with this crabby company
How to operate with FLIR one gen 1
Simply turn off WiFi, than gen 1 will work fine! Regard, have fun :)
Unnecessary Security Permissions - No data minimization principles
Similar to other reviewers, the main issue I have with this app is for its need of Full Photos permissions to even function (ie to take videos or photos and save them). In fact the entire facility is disabled (not even storing videos in the apps own working folder) if users album full access is not granted. This constitutes a violation of Data Minimization Principles from any Privacy frameworks, including GDPR. Further holding hostage functionality until extraordinary access unnecessary is granted is breach of responsible and ethical programming. Overall the concept of the facility that this app seeks to provide is very beneficial. However this benefit is reflected in its prices which the owners pay to purchase the hardware. Of them the necessary and accompanying software is arbitrarily restricted or even functionality hidden behind a paywall, it diminishes the ownership gained by paying the high cost of the initial hardware purchase. Before jumping on the subscription bandwagon, this device manufacturer should consider the total cost of ownership complete with content versus what os available is just paying the hardware and only granting necessary permissions. TCO inclusive of the the in app purchases, the hardware purchase, and the granting of security permissions which effectively is unbounded in price yields a product that has just out priced itself from carrying the above mentioned utility of the concept of this device. Limiting the tco to just the hardware, and not granting permissions and refraining from in app purchases, yields a product that can only perform real time scans (can’t save video and can’t access reference materials of how- to’s). — again a yielding price point which is not market capable. Beyond these considerations, an element of the app which is a source of frustration is the constant “recalibrating” that it performs practically every few seconds (probably 2x / minute). Additionally a scale which constantly changes with each recalibration prevents a single session to have a concept of what min and max the scale even represents. Granted temperatures can sway significantly , there should be an absolute scale and perhaps calibration brings into focus a subsection of the static scale that is applicable to the current viewfinder contents versus changing the scale each time.
Meh.
Seems like the rating of this app is higher than it ought to be. I looked over all of the reviews and at least 1/3 of them are 1 star with the same complaint, and the same canned response. But it doesn’t sound like any change for the better occurred in 2+ years. That is concerning. Top quality companies stand by even their oldest products. (Mercedes is a good example) Anyhow the app itself does its job as far as being a thermal camera goes for the model of camera I have (FLIR one pro gen3 iOS), but it would be nice if there were some more features. (Time lapse, better integration with laptop software (that doesn’t cost $200 per year), a way to graph or at least export data would be nice). I think for the price that this camera is, more features could be included.
Finding leaks
It’s been super helpful finding leaks throughout different buildings of property that I manage!
Pairing issues
Pairing with the Flir Edge Pro camera can sometimes be tricky, taking longer than expected, not recognizing the device, or buffering frequently. That can be pretty frustrating. I think it would be really helpful if it could automatically connect to your phone via Bluetooth and show up instantly in the app without any manual steps.
Works Decently
I saw the other reviews and was worried, but it’s working fine for me, hasn’t frozen or crashed after four or five uses, runs down my phone battery in the same way that having my phone camera open all the time would run it down anyway. My phone is a 2016-ish iPhone 6s, so maybe it’s doing better since it was released about the same time as this app?
Mostly good, but with privacy concerns and firmware questions
For the most part this seems like a good app. Easy to use and has the privacy policy right away. It lost two stars for needing full access to my photo library to take photos and videos. I would need a deeper understanding of why this is before I raise the rating. All other apps can save photos to an iPhone photo library with permissions restricted to only certain allowed photos, or no permissions. Why would the FLIR One app need access to every photo on my phone just to save pictures and videos? The other place it lost a star is it allowed me to see the camera firmware version, but didn’t indicate if the firmware was up-to-date or not. I thought a quick google search would solve that but I didn’t see any documentation of current firmware version or release notes for the FLIR One firmware.
App requires full access to photo library
The app requires full access to the user’s photo library to save snapshots which is not acceptable. Write permission and access to user selected photos ought to be sufficient. Apart from that the app connects and works fine with the Flir Pro device.
The best device ever
Love it
Flir
Battery life is awful and can’t be serviced by the user.
Seems to work ok
Just got the app, seems to work ok with the camera. Not sure why it’s getting so many one star ratings but the only issue I had was getting the camera itself turned on, the app worked fine.
Gallery issues
Gallery not updating consistently after storing a photo
Paid for itself in one job!
Excellent affordable option for home inspection. Found two showers leaking and disconnected HVAC before removing walls!
??
Again another app downloaded to my acct yet I have no prior knowledge knor consent of signinh up for this app, yet a bad actor whom hijacked my life has downloaded it to my acct and continues to exploit me on the daily!!!
Waste of time!
I bought the gen 1 a few days ago and the app just kept freezing up!! I saw this morning there was an update and excitedly installed it..... it doesn't even show the thermal image anymore!!! Thankgod for the other thermal 3 party apps on here!! I love the flir one but with the app rendering it useless maybe it's time to upgrade to a different brand for some better luck. Update - the latest update appears to have now rectified all the issues, no longer stuck without any visible thermal image or the camera not running or losing connectivity! Thankyou Flir for the update and fixing the issues. Will the palette ever include the reverse gray at all? I find that a very handy colour scheme in a 3rd party app. Would prefer to just stick with the flir one app if this became available!
New Version Sucks
How can I get the previous version??? This new version sucks, A bunch of options are missing the picture seem smaller now, I can go on and on Thanks
Love it
This is cool as all get out figured out was my cool air was going in 3 mins patched it for test 30 mins later it’s 12 degrees cool in my place and I got some awesome pics of my cats
Image alignment
Cannot align visible image with thermal image. Slider only does minor shifts.
Works very well after replacing defective camera
My first Flir One camera was defective and caused the app to constantly crash on load. After replacing the hardware everything works great. It is amazing to be able to see with heat. My v2 unit is very sensitive and I can see heating pipes behind the walls, even fresh foot prints after walking on carpet. The actual thermal camera resolution and frame rate is low (160x120, about 5fps) but works quite well if there is some ambient visual light due to the visible camera mixing. A marvel of technology finally within consumer price range.
App crashes too often
There is nothing wrong with the camera! And Flir tools works great! The flir one app runs like garbage sometimes. Will randomly crash and freeze my phone up. Needs a software update! Flir camera was still $600 minutes went cheap!
Verbindung
Leider verbindet sich die Camera sehr schlecht mit den IPhone
TB Ish
Works great to identifying differences in temperatures!
Waste of money
I don’t think the camera has worked since I bought it. It would always crash the iPhone. Got a new iPhone and the app crashes.
Some improvements for pro use
Would like to see two more features to make it more usable: 1. Add comment/description/tag to photos taken (in edit mode) 2. Allow two temperature spots to be set (in edit mode) Additionally, the in the manual described slider for adjusting the two cameras would be great to have in the options.
flir one
for the owners of flir one , can someone please tell me the overall of how it goes. and is it worth buying the attachment? please and thank you
Image Export
Would be good if the app automatically exported the thermal image as well as the normal image to the phones camera roll
