Great app and hardware
We love our OpenSprinkler. We’ve used it since 2018 and it’s been reliable and easy to use. I also love the open API - I use it to prevent false alarms on my water leak sensor.
No network connectivity
After the current update, it does not find the OpenSprinkler server any more. Sorry guys, you should better test your software before releasing it. Not my favorite any more after that experience.
I love the app I love the sprinkler controller.
Even though I love this app and this device, twice now in one week we have had two updates (thank you I think), but twice now I need to reconnect to my devices connection info has been lost and I’m starting over again. Please if your going to update it again, can you figure out how to update it with out losing my connections and forcing me to start over. Thank you.
New update has bugs
Great app have used for years. Latest update has a bug. When activating a sprinkler the countdown clock is not displayed and you don’t know if it is going.
Loses Settings on Updates
I set this up for my 75 year old Dad and it worked great last season. Recently, I keep having to re-add his two controllers to the app because it’s losing its configuration on app updates (presumably). He can’t do this (I’ve made an instruction document with screen shots since I’m 300 miles away to try to help); he is so frustrated. So yeah, kind of wishing I’d gone with some plug-n-play commercial system now with a better phone app. Also, the UI could be better.
Odd UI, great engine
I am very pleased with the overall solution of OpenSprinker: price, packaging, hardware, support, quality, and being open. Regarding this app specifically, the scheduling engine and workflow are solid. The UI is a bit awkward, mainly due to the slide out and pop up menus. Like Pinterest, I dislike the way a floating dialog is too easily dismissed (and input lost) by tapping anywhere outside of its border. I wish this app followed iPhone UI standards and felt as solid as the scheduling engine and controller hardware.
Terrible connectivity
Constantly crashes and fails to connect with my system. Terrible app
Language support doesn't work
Great app! But language support doesn't work. In the settings I selected German language support - but even when I restart the app the language is still English.
Update deleted my OS sites (update: Twice now)
This app has been fantastic for years. It managed two openSprinkler sites perfectly. then this last update deleted both sites and appeared to require a new login. I had to recreate the site settings. overall not a happy update experience. Review Update please let me know exactly many more of these fun updates i can expect that delete all my site info - 2nd in two weeks! yay!
Won’t connect to controller
Now it won’t connect to the controller. I’m able to log in using safari but it keeps saying to check IP/port and try again.
Latest update broke connection
The latest update that I downloaded just a day or two ago has broken my connection with my system. It is one of the early build it yourself units running FW 1.8.3. I can connect to it from a browser on the same device, but not through the app any more. Passwords and addresses verified, but will not connect. *** UPDATE *** The latest update did fix the problem! Upgraded from 3 to 5 stars.
App could’ve been so good
I use this everyday in multiple greenhouses & I love how I can customize it down to the second with patterns but everything else seems so old school. You having to be on Wi-Fi to interact with the device is a huge hinder. The app also refreshes & updates super slow, if I want to stop a zone from running if I accidentally run the wrong one then I have to wait a good 20-30 seconds before it updates & I can stop it.

Needs a lot of work
There are several major issues with this app and the hardware. For one the hardware unit loses power randomly and reboots. I've checked all my wiring with a multi-meter etc. the app adds additional programs to the end of the program list. In general the entire system needs more work.
Still NO Temp display
Hi Sammer, updated to latest firmware in this App. There is No display of Temperature in the home screen as stated. Maybe another issue?
Great controller
Runs on my 12 v solar system. Controls solenoids for sprinklers, lights, 12v pond motor and inverter. Easy and trouble free. Great system and great support
Incompatible with voiceover
I have been using this app for several years and voiceover compatibility has always been a bit of an issue. With the current version it is impossible to edit an existing program or create an new one. Disappointing.
Good product but the app doesn’t work on my phone
The iPad app works flawlessly however on my phone and a few other peoples phones I’ve installed this app on there are missing functions and buttons. Please fix this on the iPhone.
No checks on unintentionally operation
It’s far too easy to accidentally turn on valves and make system changes. The equivalent of “butt dialing” with this app may leave your sprinkler valves open for a week while on vacation. The lack of practical controls originates with the device's firmware design. But this app amplifies those deficiencies by making system changes easily accessible. The app is well organized and seems refined. It connects easily to the open sprinkler controller. The controller and the app are well documented.
Resume
Same issue as other reviewer, if the program tries to resume after phone was locked everything is frozen and I need to quit the app and reopen it continue using. The app itself is well done, intuitive interface, clean and simple. Would easily rate 5 stars once the frozen resume is resolved.

Latest update
What did you do?!?! Used to log in flawlessly no matter where I am. Now I get password error UNLESS I first VPN into my home network.... Why did you change things?!?! Please undo this change you made. I travel a lot and do not want to VPN just to use your app
Firmware update doesn’t warn you to back up your config
Opened the app, it said firmware update available, never once said it would wipe out my config. Have to start over.
Clock does not seem to operate correctly
I've tried now for several weeks to get the GMT feature in the mobile app to accurately reflect my location. Every time I do, the mobile app just spins until eventually it just crashes. Then the GMT setting reverts to 12 (i.e. the default setting). Accordingly, I can't program any intervals or operational times to get this device to work excepted in manual mode.
Allows me to control zones, but crashes often
If you try and take a picture to assign it to a zone, the app crashes. Didn’t used to, but I’m finding that with this developer, they don’t care much about fixing issues. I’ve been waiting for them to fix a dhcp / static IP bug with their OpenSprinkler for well over a year.
Amazingly Wonderful App
If you have an open sprinkler or OSPi device this app is outstanding. The interface is much more pleasant to use than the mobile webpage. I'm very happy with this app. It's well designed. This app is awesome. Thank you to all the developers!
Poor support
I’ve had nothing but problems with this WiFi device. Power surges, messes it up. Little to no customer support. Maybe he knows what he is talking about but his directions are Chinese to me. Go figure!
Great app, one small glitch
In the latest version, the weather location always displays as "11, Tottori-ken", regardless of where I set the location. Any clue as to why this is happening?
Resume
Resuming the app on iPhone 7 doesn’t seem to work. Have to force quit and reopen. Few seconds but thought I’d pass along.

The latest update has rendered OpenSprinkler completely unusable the router can’t find the units and the app only opens to the manage sites page
Outstanding!
The app is excellent and makes programming my OpenSprinkler much user friendly than the device's built-in web interface. The OpenSprinkler controller is a great piece of hardware and this app just makes it even better. I've only had the unit/app installed for a month or two, but I have yet to have an issue. Btw, the logging feature requires a microSD card (on my arduino unit, anyway). Plug in the card and the unit starts logging. Fantastic work!
