ED physician
I’ve been using EM:RAP since residency—over 15 years now—and it has consistently been an excellent resource for staying current with the latest medical literature and developments in emergency medicine. I particularly value the monthly EMA episodes, which provide a concise and practical review of important new research
Lacks External Button Control Option
Needs option to switch External Buttons from Next/Previous to Forward/Back like the native Apple Podcast app offers. I want to be able to tap my AirPods or car steering controllers to rewind 15/30 sec NOT restart/skip my entire chapter
Ron
Love the Em: Rap team but very disappointed no longer covering primary care. Was a PCMA listener since the 1990’s. I attribute Rick and Jerry’s insights allowing me to this day to give good care to my patients. ROP with Ken and Steve was a pretty good substitute but now that is gone.
This app is so painful
I love EM:RAP as a podcast but this app is terrible. It loads so slowly, if at all. Even when it loads it can’t always handle itself; visible buttons won’t click because it runs so slowly. Even trying to post this review the app crashed. The is way too much fluff on the app; just have it load the content I subscribe too. It defaults to load the dashboard tab which is useless so I have to wait for it to let me click to audio. Even the audio tab has “continue listening” row that doesn’t work because it shows segments from a decade ago that I’ve never listened to. If I click “mark as listened” then that segment disappears and replaced with another never ending list of segments I’ve never listened to. Lastly, the new weekly format is dangerous. EMRAP has acknowledged that most listeners listen while driving. It used to be two easy access monthly chapters (EMRAP and EMA) but now they separate it to weekly so we have to do even more clicks that don’t load? Plus, each EMRAP chapter is inserted with several EMA summaries I’d have recurrently skip; just give me the autonomy to choose to listen to a summary or not.
Video organization awful
EMRAP as an educational organization is amazing but this app needs some seeious restructuring. It used to be much easier to stay on top of the new videos using the app. Now I don’t know which ones I have seen and which ones I have not. It’s all jumbled up. Help!
Great app
Best app ever I’m so grateful to have this resource to lean on and learn from, thank you!
Slow buggy iOS app
Content good, app terrible
Need ipad version
Can we get an update with ipad version? This way can listen and read the abstracts on my iPad instead of only on the iphone
Won’t Download to iPhone
Have been an EMRAP listener for 20+ years. Love the content, hate the App. Haven’t been able to download it to my phone for years now. Not a huge issue but there are areas on my way to work that don’t have strong cell signal (or some flights) so can’t always stream.
Cannot add podcasts to playlist!
The Add button to add videos to a playlist does nothing. It does not work!
Thank you for what you do
I am a mid-level provider (practitioner) I work in a rural days ER where we don’t have a lot of specialties around, we don’t get the opportunity to practice many of the procedures and diagnosis that you discussed here. So I thank you for helping me stay on top of my game to do the best that I can do.
Download doesn’t work …just stream
Quite frustrating in low coverage commutes to count on streaming. Sleep timer would be a bonus and the ability to start and stop from headphones without having to open the app should be standard. Still a glitchy app. Fortunately the content makes up for the frustrating app!
Needs CarPlay compatiblity
Works ok but needs CarPlay compatibility
Horrible design
They updated this and chopped it into weekly and it’s so glitchy and incapable of seamless delivery. It’s highly annoying to use and the lack of user friendliness is making me a lot less forgiving of the fact that the content is going down in quality
Great Content, logistical problems.
I use this app a lot. Between EM:RAP and EMA, I listened to 176 hours in the last two years. I don’t like the new weekly format but I understand why it happened. Two things just need to be fixed: 1. CME needs to be in the app. There’s just no reason in 2025 that we don’t have this yet. Show us that this is a priority. 2. Those of us who listen to the monthly recap still have to go and individually check off the sections we listened to before we can get CME credit. This should be an easy fix.
Best study pod on the market
Every manicure, commute, long walk. I love emrap
No network connection
Can’t log in half the time bc it always say no network connection.
Fantastic app buggy software iPhone 15
Been with EMRAP for years. At this point, it’s a core source of info and staying up to date with emergency medicine. Good production goes into the audio and videos. That said, the app is buggy at times. Sometimes long load times. Although improved recently. More recent problem since upgrading to iPhone 15. The video playlist won’t completely load. So I can watch the videos visible on the screen and can’t scroll down further, cutting me off from using a lot of videos on shift. Keeps it from being a 5/5
Super glitchy app
For the past few months, the app has become super glitchy. I love the content, but the app really needs an update. The app crashes about every 10 minutes when I am listening to it through Bluetooth In my car. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no improvement. For the price that I pay for the program, I would expect better.
App issues
Content is great. And the app has improved over the years but still buggy. The end chapter does not show up as played. If I don’t manually mark them as played, the unfinished episodes accumulate. Other issues as well.
The best
Required listening to maintain competency. Always some need to know stuff and “I didn’t know that” stuff
Getting worse with updates
The latest updates have caused the app to frequently crash when listening with the screen turned off, to lag more, and to use more battery
Great content
Great content the app is kind of clunky andfrequently forgets how far I am in an episode or fails to download things I ask for
Update app for stability
Longtime EMRAP listener (2012) and fan of the content. Recently app seems unstable, frequent crashes and very laggy. Tried to reinstall, deleted cached (downloaded) content but still unstable. Wonderful medical education content but I’d encourage the iOS app developers to review their most recent updates. Thanks Mel Herbert & company, truly wonderful stuff
App is buggy
Content great, app works great in theory but often times freezes or stutters or refuses to scroll down through content. Tried deleting and reinstalling but same problem. Unusable for content at this time.
MD
Keeping up on the literature for 30+ years. The BEST.
Love the content, app is terrible
I love listening to EMRAP and EMA every month and have been doing so for years. Ever since the app “revamp” it has been increasingly terrible to use. Downloads are in process forever and never download, downloads are impossible to cancel, it plays one segment at a time, lots of wasted space on each screen, have to log in to the website in a browser to access written segment summaries, and when they say things like “see the photo associated with what we are talking about” in the details, i never can. I am sure they spent a lot on this app development but there is a lot to learn from more effective podcast apps like Overcast. Even updated this morning again to see if that helped to minimal avail. App problems ongoing for months
Glitchy App
The download function does not seem to function. Gotta stream, it seems
App provides a frustrating listening experience
For last several month, I have had difficulty downloading EMA/EMRAP via the app despite attempting multiple different internet sources. Even once downloaded, the playback would frequently crash and regularly lost the bookmark of how long I was listening
Content is great, app is trash
Great content but app is glitchy, slow, and freezes/crashes often.
Essential
There are some glitches with playback on the app which regularly occurred other than this, These people have created the best resource we have available to us all! I can’t thank them enough, and one day hope to join in production. All the best, -Pat
Bad app
If you bought em rap to listen to the podcasts on your phone you’re outta luck because the app doesn’t even open
CarPlay?
Please update to allow show/chapter selection from CarPlay
App crashes frequently
Love the content however the app crashes so frequently it’s almost unusable.
The app is buggy
The content on this is great. Commend the team that put this together. Easy to search. However the app is slow and shuts of randomly.
Great content
Incredible amount of content (impossible to study it all or listen to each month’s new stuff and practice full time). And great quality. Reliable. App is pretty good. Sometimes hard to control, organize, or sort through so much stuff I want to listen to!!
The new version of the app Sux
I’ve had to delete and reinstall, long download times. Difficult to navigate. There was nothing wrong with the old app design.
All in one place!
Great to have quick access to all the past episodes, quick downloads and keep track of what I have heard- nice to use to catch up on old episodes. I'd love to see the written summary pages for each month on here too. I just can't listen to all that talking!
Glitchy app
I love EMRAP content and the website, can’t say enough good about it, but I find the updated version of the app awful to use. It takes a long time to load, doesn’t save my place very well, and most importantly to me, does not allow me to download episodes. There is a function to download each segment individually but it does not work at all for me, it just gives an eternal spinning wheel with no progress. As I often use the app to listen while traveling outside of cell reception, this is a huge frustration!
Content is great, app underdelivers
Loses your spot, frequent glitches, etc.
The best in the business
This really is the best medical content for emergency medicine education. There simply is no other resource as good as this.
bad app. good content
app is terrible. not optimized for ipad
Keeps shutting down
I can’t get through a ten minute segment without the app completely shutting down. And then the cutesy start up screen has to run. If the content weren’t so nice I’d give up.
Great content. Poor app
The app takes too long to load. It does download in the background It crashes sporadically For this high quality content the app should be better
Glitchy app
Love the content! 10/10 content. App is glitchy and freezes constantly on my iPhone 15 Pro
Slow to download
Ridiculously slow download is making this very frustrating and waste money!
70% of the time, it works 100% of the time
Excellent content, buggy app. It’s been a little faster recently but the search needs some help, it takes a while to load, and it currently is not downloading anything for me. I just want to hear Mel’s sweet, sweet voice on the plane!!
Need CarPlay
STILL no CarPlay! Love the service, but the app is difficult to use if you’re listening while driving. CarPlay would be a great addition.
