Clean crossword failure
New format for a few days. Now all I get is a blank dark grey screen. Some up grade!
Clean Crossword
The first game took a while to load and I played that game on the easy level to get accustomed to this app. I could not get a new game to load.
Spelling
Please note that the capital city of New South Wales in Australia is Sydney, not Sidney. I know it’s not life changing but still pretty annoying.
Halva isn’t Oriental!!
The game is alright, been playing it prettily consistently the past couple of months. The one thing that keeps getting me is how bad some of the clues are that really don’t make sense to the answers. The worst one I’ve seen just happened there. Clue reads “Oriental sweet” to which the answer is “Halva” which is Middle Eastern. I know it’s in Asia but come on! This game could be so much better if someone else was in charge of the clues.

Good crossword but let me select zoom level
I like the format of this crossword puzzle with the clues being on the puzzle. I play it often. Please developer let me choose the zoom or be able to revert from the latest update. I want to see more of the crossword puzzle and not have to scroll up and down due to the current zoom.
Poor quality crosswords
Even the difficult level is not too hard. Some of the puzzles are incomplete - e.g. missing black squares. Many, many reused clues. At least twice the answer to questions relating to the Australian city were “Sidney” though a further puzzle included the correct spelling. Also, though British focussed in subject matter, often answers are in American spellings, e.g. “odor”.
Great puzzles, crashes constantly
Really want this to work! Great puzzles and design! But con start crashing. If ad free version fixed this, great but don’t want to buy and have continuously crashing during use. Update planned?
Great app - hours of fun and learning!
As of yesterday, I finished all the puzzles. While I don’t know for sure how long I’ve had the app, I know it’s provided me with hours and hours of fun and learning. I wish there was a way to refresh/start over with the puzzles or to download a new set of puzzles. I like that I can do as few or many puzzles whenever I want, not dependent on a “daily” puzzle delivery, and I like that there are options to check my work as I go. The app almost never “froze.” Would I download this again? Yes!

The new update is crap I will never play this again
Okay for England
Error button!!! Why? Too many English words for America English! Doesn't set up for a new puzzle when your done, even though there are no errors! Doesn't skip completed words. Clunky navigation. Easy is childish, med is elementary, & hard is sophomoric.
Becoming unplayable
Some ads now filling and blocking the screen with no way to advance. Screen just freezes.
Game from hell
Free version has ads that take over the screen. You must either kill the app or open the advertiser’s website. Yes, it is only ? $4 to remove the ads, but why reward that behavior. The audio ads override my audio settings, so I must silence them each time. I won’t be bullied into paying for the app. How many 1-star reviews can you take?
Really Enjoy this app
I especially like this crossword app. I find the easy level challenging enough. I do a crossword every day.

Your clean crosswords crashes with iOS 14.1. Pls correct so that it’s usable.
Rather unique format
Quick and easy. Mostly useful words for developing quick recall, though a small ratio are uncommon to Americans and would best be eliminated.
No good on iPad
Grid does not fit well on iPad screen. Several clues pointed to wrong squares. Kinda cheesy when letters don’t intersect with more than one clue; that’s not a crossword. To each his own. Meh.
Challenging
They do a nice job of mixing it up. Not always the same words/clues/answers like some apps. Its great that this one offers a clue or two without requiring payment. Huge fan

Too many proper names of British celebs no one in USA has heard of.
Poor puzzles
Whoever writes the puzzles doesn’t work at getting words and letters to fit correctly. It’s hard to read the clues. Not much of a crossword puzzle app
Well conceived, but oh so British
A constant source of delight for its streamlined design and “difficult” setting, which calls on vocabulary you never knew you had. Be warned that plenty of localisms pop up, from soccer stars to labor organizations to news broadcasters, which are common knowledge if you happen to live in the United Kingdom; otherwise, not. To be fair, there is plenty of Americana to balance the scale, as well as tidbits from nearly everywhere else in the world.
Ads too distracting
The ads in this app are way too distracting. They interrupt the puzzle during critical times. Had stopped playing it for awhile and came back to it. Now I remember why I stopped playing it. Find another crossword puzzle.
Not bad
This is a fair app with a few problems. On occasion the arrows pointing from clues are wrong. Not all sequences of letters spell words like a classic crossword. Also, British spelling and words are used making it a bigger challenge for those not familiar with British English.

There are so many errors in meaning in the clues - it really isn’t enjoyable. Whoever is making up the clues really needs a good dictionary.

Way too big for screen
This is clearly not designed for an iPhone. The puzzle is at least 4 times the size of my 4" screen, so I'm constantly having to scroll around. Annoying. It's also very annoying being interrupted in the middle of the puzzle, not just once, but 3 times each. I probably won't keep it long.
Fun game
Fun game to play. Learn new things with each puzzle. Some are hard and really have to think what the answers are they sometimes you need to do a reveal a letter to help. The only downside is that once you do every single puzzle there aren’t any more to play. Would be nice to have more puzzles to play once a category is done for example once you complete the easy ones there are no more. So bring in more puzzles to keep you on your toes. Other than that I have fun *udate:i finished them all so now I don’t have any to play...what’s the purpose of you can’t play more...makes you wanna delete after you are done with it as it will take up space on your phone. Add more puzzles!

It’s a shame that I had to drop the last star. The app is really cool apart from the repetition of clues. If they could sort that out I think it would be a great improvement.

Frustrating Glitch
This app was really frustrating. It kept locking up mid-puzzle and the app would close, losing half of my answers. Ads would also pop-up and then become a blank screen. There was no way to get back to the puzzle except restarting the app. Liked the app a lot until I started having problems.

Every time an ad pops up- generally a few times per crossword, the app freezes and must be force quit.
Ads due to Free
I LOVE crosswords when they have Easy, Moderate and Hard levels so this is a GREAT compilation. The ONLY issue is the constant ad pop ups since I LIKE to beat my times and they make it nearly impossible. I understand they are necessary in order for this to be FREE but it should be limited to ONE time per puzzle being solved!!!!
Needs Dark Mode
I love this game and play it most nights, but it’s one of the brightest apps on my phone with the white background. To reduce eye strain at night, I would request adding a dark mode option, or color options.
Not a Crossword Puzzle
This isn't a crossword puzzle. Not all of the completed blanks form words. What a disappointment.

Easy to use - probably too easy for folks who are used to really tough crosswords but it's a decent enough medium difficulty puzzle.
Not bad
Quite a few errors with the questions, such as wrong question pointing to wrong direction, amongst others. Questions are also repeated. Can't see a way to go back to a crossword iv 'abandoned' to continue it? Otherwise enjoyable.
Not quite there
1. I'm having the same problem that a user mentioned back in March. Puzzle completed but won't advance to next puzzle. Report error function does not show any errors. Only way to proceed is to skip puzzle and do the next one. Very minor 2. I'm miffed that I spent $3.99 to eliminate the ads. It worked for that session and then went back to the somewhat annoying ads. Annoying because I paid you your vigorish, but you're still flogging the ads. Not so minor.
Brilliant
It is a very good puzzle. Thank to makers. The only problem I have encountered when the ad about “Hacks” starts, which freezes. I updated, still same problem.
Jumbled mess
Ugh, the formatting of the crossword is awful. I hate how the clues are in the boxes of the puzzle. It makes it look so messy and busy. There is no order to the clues and no way to tab through to the next clue. You have to tap on the screen to get to the next clue. Too much back and forth tapping instead of just going down a list of clues. Frustrating to go through the puzzle.
Enjoyable, though a couple of oddities
I am enjoying using this app, playing the different levels is good as I can keep switching up and coming back to things. Only slight frustrations (as others have mentioned) are the repetition (I fear this will increase as I continue to complete puzzles) and also the Americanisms and occasionally over abstract clues that dont always translate. Still good to challenge the little grey cells and enjoyable.
Too many clues repeated
After you have done a few crosswords you realise the same clues keep coming up time and time again and the more you do the more frustrating this becomes. It's like they could only come up with a small number of questions which they have to keep re-using. The other annoying thing is on the first level most of the clues are really easy but the some of the answers are completely obscure words which you would never get. Disappointing overall app
Some issues
1) There are often two letters together along the edge that don’t form a word. 2) Sometimes a box with 2 clues have arrows pointing to which spaces the clue belongs to, but you can’t tell which it should be. 3) You can’t revisit finished puzzles. 4) Show errors option makes incorrect letters dark red, which is hard to see. Color background a light red instead. 5) After 34 puzzles in easy mode the puzzles stopped advancing. Had to skip to the normal mode to continue. Interface is easy to use. Reasonably happy with this app.
