Worst app I’ve ever tried in my whole life
This is the most poorly designed app I’ve ever seen in my whole life. I work with software and apps all the time. I’ve seen all kinds, but this takes the cake as the absolute worst. Horrible user experience. There is literally no way to just set a frequency and have it play indefinitely. That’s not even an option. The frequency constantly rises when you said it at one thing and it gets higher and higher and then it cuts off after a certain amount of time. There is absolutely no option to make the frequency stay steady. There is no option to make it play indefinitely. All of the commands and the buttons are grouped in a horrible way
Frequency Generator
Your basic Frequency Generator with nothing spectacular or special, but I do appreciate how many options come with its basic layout from the gate on the free version. Extremely important to individuals such as myself to set Amplifier Gain Levels correctly in Car Audio installations…….
Well done!
This app is very well designed and useful for an array of tasks. I love it and highly recommend it!

Can’t do anything without upgrading to the paid subscription.
Where is Adjust Offset ???
I like this app. It works and has a lot of customization however, there doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust the offset. Would love to be able to use controls to set a positive offset value of 100%. Hope this helps !!
Good but..
Suddenly removed functionality in existing app to push paid version.
VERY SOLID APP!!
Seemingly almost zero complaints aside from the stop playback timer not functioning as intended. Other than that a very solid and a highly recommended purchase for those wanting such utility!
Deceptive
To listen to tones above 10k, you need to pay for the pro version.
Request
Add a 9th multi frequency row please!!!
I bet it’s great, but I can’t use it.
With no VoiceOVer support, this app is pretty much useless to me; it’s just as easy to use my physical function generator with my iPad as a magnifier. At least it has physical buttons that I can memorize; meanwhile this app isn’t useable if you’re vision-impaired. Apple makes it fairly simple to add accessibility to apps; even things like having correct labels on buttons and menu items would go a long way. It’s too bad, as the developer seems to want to make a good product, but not including accessibility, even on a basic level, makes it hard to recommend.
Helps with my Tinnitus
This is a great tool for those that can us it as a sound therapy for Tinnitus. I set this app to control mine.. Works great!
You'd be better off whistling
U cant generate sounds under 100hz anymore... Including EVERY IMPORTANT SOUND (25.125hz limit of human hearing, 40hz, 60hz, 70hz basically anything that sounds good) and you cant even go that high either. Just put (SILENT) adds in the app instead of ruining it. And either way SPEAKERS CAN GENERATE SIGNALS HIGHER AND LOWER THAN 21Hz & 21kHz (usually 8hz-25khz) SO EVEN IF YOU PAY YOURE NOT GETTING THE BEST Edit to response: It’d cost me less to buy a dolphin and train them to whistle than to but this moneypants app. We will resist your sonic monopoly. Freedom is privilege unless extended to all!!!
Most useful of the tone gen apps
The developer calls it a signal generator, which is more than a tone generator. Apparently however 95% of the people downloading a tone app are using it to clear water out of their iPhone speakers. If that’s what you want, you can do it here, but that doesn’t seem to be what the dev was thinking when creating this app! For me, it’s been useful for identifying specific frequencies, and for testing and breaking in speakers. The two things I like the most about it are that frequencies can be dialed in to at least two decimal places (e.g. 73.42 Hz). Some generators in the App Store only give integer precision, and at least one popular one only gives multiples of 5, with no way to manually key in the desired frequency. Dumb. This one lets you get very precise adjustments and also allows you to select the waveform (not just sine wave). The second great and useful feature is the ability to select frequencies by their musical note value, for example, D2. This is a very useful feature for me. But here’s also where we find the reason for my four-star rating instead of five-star: the frequency input and the note input live in two different worlds. For me, it would be quite useful, for ear training if nothing else, to have the frequency indicated at the top of the screen when a note is selected. As it is, I have to switch back and forth between two different apps. Worse, the note selection is not preserved when switching to frequency view, so you can’t even “cheat” to see what the frequency is. That said, if this one detail were addressed, I’d give it a solid five stars for my purposes. It’s a great, robust, well thought-out app.
Too many paywalls.
Newest update changed lowest tone from 20hz to 100hz. I don’t like that. Finding a new app.
I love this app.
I love to play around with this app and discover more and more features every time I touch it. The tutorial opens up the world of signal generation and so much more. Love this app! The pittance I paid to unlock the advanced features was well worth it. I am not a paid reviewer.
Developer got greedy
Just about everything in the “pro” version was 100% free before February 2025. Google has free 1hz generators bro.
Great!
Great tool, but please add a “continuous” option to the sweep so I don’t have to keep pressing the play button.

Audio frequency generator
I Purchased the professional version of this program, and when I had to replace my iPad all of my apps and programs were loaded onto the new pad. But since this has happened none of my preset default frequencies are staying in the very first page as I have set them. This is something that should be happening with the free version. But I Purchased the professional version a few years ago. This app should be saving my presets and does not. Thomas Gruber if you were out there… Help!
Best app I’ve ever paid for
In terms of straightforwardness and functionality this app is best in the market. I’ve tried all the tone apps for a very long time. THIS one has amazing attention to detail and fine tune functionality settings. But the main thing is that it works and it is reliable for a variety of needs in this area of utility. Also the dev is super nice and knows what he’s doing. All in all worth paying for imo great app!
Money hungry
Used to be useful for diagnosing vehicles, now it wants you to pay for the lower frequency
New row option
Please have the ability to have 10 rows in the tone generator
Waves
Sound generator is fine, same old story; you gotta pay to get all the features. Typical ..... generate income from advertisers and users!!!
Why can’t I open it?
This app has always worked the way it’s supposed to however since I’ve updated it, I can no longer open it from my phone screen nor can I delete it. I can access the app through the App Store only
Highly recommended
This App is super PRO
Charge
Downloaded app, doesn’t do what I want. Then out of blue I get a charge. Um hello it’s illegal to just charge people without their permission
Functionality
The features of this application are great! Intuitively designed with predefined functions providing spectral audio for automated frequency generation make this app’ superb. Volume adjustment control’ can be improved. Sinusoidal repetitions via frequency alteration with the burst upgrade! Surely cannot find a better represented, easy to use audio frequency range generator on the App Store.
Vorsicht!
Ok but not great
Works as a audio generator but not really as signal generator; all the waveforms end up as sine waves after 11 kHz. So using it to generate a signal for electronics above this level is useless unless you're after a sine wave.
Works
Best app for frequency
Basic features paywalled after update
The use of an update to remove the full frequency range without paying a subscription is absurd and unacceptable.
Some features are pay only
It’s £1.99 to get all the features . But worth it.
Latest version sound distorts if display is on
In the latest version of this app, the sound distorts when the display is on and doing "stuff".
Need to fix,but useful.
After unlock this apps, output gain of L and R are different during testing each channels at separately. I hope fix it. And Default button is necessary at phase shifter setting.
Add a download file function
I love this app! I use binaural beats to meditate and this is an easy way to create whatever custom sound you want. The only thing I wish it had that it doesn’t as far as I know is the ability to create and download a file of your custom sounds. I’d like to save them to make tracks with music, white noise, affirmations, etc for YouTube videos and the like. Also, I’d like to use them on other devices like my PC. Otherwise totally worth the money! Love it love it! I would pay a little extra for this feature though!
Need to pay for what I want!
Not good! I needed to pay for all of its features including to extend the frequency range because the free version of the app only has a frequency range from 100 Hz to 10 kHz and I don’t like that! This app also has frequency sweeps but the free version of the app only makes it so the frequency sweep setting can only be set at 440 Hz to 1 kHz which I do not like! There are so many more features that I needed to pay for to even do those! The price for all those features is $8.99 but my mom and dad does not allow my to pay for apps that are like these!
Practical generator
This app does everything you might want for stereo audio applications. I identified a faulty capacitor in a LS crossover using its white noise output plus a spectrum analyser on a smart phone. On an iPad mini there is a second or so delay on the controls. The screen frequency readout on a swept sinewave lags well behind the actual audio frequency. April 2018: Just measuring some new speakers. The steady coloured noise is fine. The swept frequency has two problems using it over Bluetooth, which puts in 3-4 seconds delay. The initial bit of sweep may be lost somehow I think. Also the sweep is linear with frequency increasing >200 Hz/sec or so. This means the lower end <1khz is swept much too fast and the top end takes forever. Would a log rate work better? Also having probs with the phase shift controls. Don’t do what I expected. May 2018: I have got my oscilloscope connected now and it confirms that the phase shift controls are not accurate. Sliding the top one to 180 deg. only gives a 45 deg shift. If I then set the bottom one to -90 deg I get a 90 deg approx relative shift and a bit more if it’s set to -180 deg. Could the Bluetooth be doing this?
Fait ce qu'il dit
Bien pour mes besoins ... Les fonctions avancées payantes
Great but two pieces of feedback for Developers
One - on the sweep setting, it always resets to 440 hertz so you have to manually adjust it every time. And also would be nice if the start/pause button were bigger so you could use it without looking at the screen.
Limited
I updated the app and all of a sudden available ranges disabled, unless i upgrade to paid version can’t use it the way I always used it. It’s useless to me now. I’ll find another app that doesn’t limit the frequencies. Dev; instead of crippling your software, introduce new features and offer them in a pro version. You are giving a middle finger to everyone who downloaded your app before you decided to cripple it.
Excellent function generator...5 star
Excellent 5 star
Good, but needs added features...
Could really do with being able to mix a pure tone with one of the preset 'noise' tones.
