Tax act has been easy to use and is a fast process with the picture uploads
Nothing but pop ups
I can’t see my return details and every other time I click something to try, I get a pop up to rate the app. Apparently the only thing it does well is collect ratings

Not really useful
The web interface for TaxAct is still good, tho it was much better 2 years ago. I have been using them to file my taxes for at least 25 years. This web app does not display documents well and is impossible to navigate. Using the web interface in the mobile browser is far more effective. - E.G. The app should be able to rotate when there is a document that is trying to wrap a second column and only fits like 10 chars.
Tax act not quite the same
In prior years the TaxAct software provided a very detailed interview process. It was harder to locate some items this year such as the energy credit form.
User Friendly
Most user friendly tax prep app that cuts right to the chase without extra unnecessary questions and I have used several popular apps. By far my favorite!
Booooo
So over being forced to pay to do my taxes because it’s not the most basic return possible. And an extra $60 for paying with my return? Terrible terrible terrible company. But the alternatives aren’t really much better.

TaxAct let me down!
I know I shouldn’t have waited until the last minute but, at 11:45PM on 4/15/2026, tried to file my return. TaxAct told me I had to complete the final steps again. And again, and again, until I was FINALLY able to file it at 12:08AM on 4/16/2026. I hope I don’t hear from the IRS about late filing. If I do, TaxAct will be hearing from me!

We used the standard deduction and didn’t use our 1098 and we STILL HAD TO UPGRADE TO DELUXE :/
Easy to Use and Affordable Tax Filing Service
I had a smooth experience using TaxAct for filing my taxes this year. The platform was easy to navigate, and the step-by-step guidance made the process simple even for someone without much tax knowledge. I also liked that it was more affordable compared to some other tax software options. The refund estimator and error checks were very helpful. Overall, a reliable and convenient service for tax filing.
State refund
I cant find my state refund the app is making it hard for me to see when my refund coming back
One issue
The section for long and short term stock sales would only allow a purchase date. It would not allow you to type various for stocks that were purchased at multiple dates.

It won’t finish and let me file it keeps taking me back to my starting place and I have no idea why or what I may be doing wrong

PAYING FOR TAXES WAS DIFFICULT
When I was done with filing, paying for the service to use TAXAct was difficult. When I was trying to pay by credit card, it told me that I had to turn off the Recapcha? what the heck does that mean? So without any explaination, I had to pay for doing my taxes a more difficult way, which didn’t make the process as convenient and not finished. The process of entering the info was easy enough. will be trying a different service next year.
Still My Main Squeeze
I’ve been using TaxAct for years, and the movie app still continues to perform well. Easy to navigate and rather stable. Thank you!

Keeps opening a new return. Finally figured out how to see the one I already entered all the information in. Only using because I’m getting a discount through T-Mobile. Wish it was TurboTax!

I’ve been using this group in 2007. For the first few years, service was good. But through the good and bad times of the economy, TaxAct service costs have become out of control and they have the nerve to force me to purchase documents I don’t need. And when I need help, no one is available. I am done.
I won’t go anywhere else!!
I’ve been doing my taxes with TaxAct for years, and I’m a truly loyal customer. My boyfriend once insisted I go to his accountant “just to make sure everything was accurate,” and guess what? The accountant got the exact same result I was already seeing on TaxAct. (Of course I ended up submitting my taxes through TaxAct) That was all the confirmation I needed. TaxAct makes the entire process incredibly simple: step-by-step, clear, and completely self-explanatory, almost like just filling in the blanks. It even pulls all my information from the previous year, which saves so much time. I love that! The experience is always smooth, fast, and stress-free. I trust it, I rely on it, and I’m not going anywhere else.
Would not listen to me.
There was no place for me to put a promo code, and the person on the phone with me wouldn’t listen. Very frustrating, and the only good part was their AI helpline. I never got to put in my promo code. Plus never got a call back either.
