Possible new AC update
The game is amazing and very fun but it would be amazing if in the AC you could choose for it to only show project pets so we wouldn’t have to search every single one. It would help me and others to find what we are looking for

reposting since my original review was mysteriously deleted, so weird! this game is a neopets ripoff that teaches you next to nothing. enjoy wandering around the application not knowing how to do a single thing. it took days to figure basic functions out and apparently it’s normal for things like research to take….three days or more? I’ve lost interest and forgotten about this app before the timer is even done. the fact people PAY for this blows my mind.

Rough start, becoming slightly annoying.
Okay I had a review before and I’m completely re-doing it. When first started playing got stuck on the tutorial multiple times, having to delete and remake my account because you’re able to get softlocked if you spend the credits you need to do the research tutorial on something different by mistake. There’s little-to-no help besides vague instructions at the top, and you’re expected to blindly figure out that there’s a whole help section off to the side. When I first started playing that would have helped if it was more visible. Speaking of visible, in the tutorial besides the text at the top that doesn’t go away even if you want it to, there’s this faint pulse pattern that shows around where it wants you to click next, but it’s very faint and almost blends in with the background of the app. It took me a while to see it and realize what it was. Auctions and buying pets with credits in it’s entirety requires an in app purchase or a subscription in order to use. Compare this to other pet apps and you can see they very much want your money to lock a whole important aspect of the game behind a paywall. Better luck next time kids, unless you convince your mom or someone to fork over their credit card! (Please don’t do that.) There is BARELY ANY way unless you use the auction to get credits. Which are needed for the mutations aspect of the game because you research species and then research mutations and everything with that costs credits. You can breed already mutated pets if you got them from the adoption center for free but you don’t get to choose what you want in that aspect, it’s completely randomized. If you’re free to play, the only way you can get credits is if someone just happens to buy your pets, or if you turn eggs for people. If you’re not very social like me and just want to play by yourself or yourself and close friends and don’t really like talking to strangers, then you’re very likely not going to sell anything. And, if you are doing egg turning guess what? You are REQUIRED to have friended the person you’re turning eggs for and it’s NOT EVEN GUARANTEED that you get credits. It’s like 1 credit per egg too so it’s super slow compared to what people with paid accounts are doing. This game is pay to win: plain and simple. I’ve read the other reviews the people saying it isn’t pay to win are lying to our faces. Oh, and if you do the adoption center guess what? There’s a cooldown, which is fine in itself. But it takes literally like 5 minutes. And 9/10 times if you saw some pet you wanted while you had a cooldown that pet is gone before you even get a chance to get it. Happened multiple times to me so far. It is extremely frustrating. And I’m not even 100% sure of this but from what I’ve gathered it seems even the individual pets have cooldowns when you send them like once you send them in there’s a cooldown for it before anyone can grab it even if their personal adoption cooldown is ready. And if that’s not what that is then it goes to show how little explanation to how this game works there is. There’s a really cool feature called “Tattoo” where you can create your own patterns and put it on your pet. I’ve done some pretty cool looks with it, safe to say it’s one of my favorite things about this app besides the mutations. There’s a catch though, of course from many things in this game: If your pet has mutations in the area you’re trying to apply the tattoo, the tattoo will go UNDER the mutations and/or get cut off or cropped. The area that the tattoo can be applied to are completely scuffed: I was doing a tattoo on my raccoon’s arm and instead of doing the full arm like it showed in the preview it was cut halfway and so half of the arm was blue like I had put and the other was default and it looked horrendous. 😐 Oh, by the way. There’s pure colors in this game. But it isn’t in the way you’d think where it’s all the color slots being the same color. Nono, it’s if a SINGLE slot is the hex code of a color (like white being hexcode FFFFFF) that it’s considered a pure color. And, if you’re trying to make a pure of any other color than the recognized ones, like say FFFF99, then it will never be pure because there’s no little dot for that color saying that it’s pure because only certain colors get to have one. WHO DECIDED THIS??? As an artist and a pet game lover who has played games like Flight Rising before, this is GENUINELY the worst implementation of this concept I have EVER seen. Last thing. There’s a “discard” feature that’s supposed to be getting rid of your pets if you don’t want them and don’t think it’d be worth to send to the adoption center if you think nobody would want it. What does it actually do instead of getting rid of the pet? Put it in a “Discarded” tab under the skull button, where it’s there forever and never goes away and you’re able to take it back if you want. WHY. ON EARTH. WOULD I WANT MY PET STILL THERE IF I DISCARDED IT??? It’s supposed to be gone!!!!! Why is it still there just on a different screen than the main one?!?!! You’re telling me theres no actual way to get rid of them unless you make another player take it from your account?! This is friggin ridiculous!!!!! This game SERIOUSLY needs work. I’ve seen players who have played this since 2012 and it is now 2026. YOU GUYS HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF THIS IN 14 YEARS??? Genuinely unbelievable. Whoever made this game please please hire a new person to create features for this game, thank you.

10/10 Cannot Recommend Enough
I’ve spent years looking for a game that would hit all of the itches that come from browser based breeding games. I found this one through the Equus (horse) portion, but have expanded to 5 species I breed and many more that I collect. I absolutely love the freedom for creativity in the mutations and breeding. You can create your own projects (I’m already working on three, and I only started 4 months ago), which have specific color and mutation combinations. The OviPets community is absolutely massive and sooo wonderful as well. People are so friendly, and always ready to help or give guidance. Many players have created info guides and other informational resources to help ensure everyone can fully enjoy the game. The community is absolutely fantastic and just a huge perk. There are perks to being a paid player, however many of the paid players will work with FTP players to make sure they get to have the full experience as well. There are paid tokens, which permanently turn you into a paid player that you can get through raffles, giveaways, paid players, or for buying it for $5 in the store. There is an additional level of paid players, called Ovi+, which I cannot recommend enough. It keeps all your pets fed (biggest thing for me, as I have over 2k pets). Overall, I absolutely adore the game, and don’t really have any negative feedback, as it’s rapidly become one of my favorites. The only suggestion I have would be a way to filter out options in the search, such as excluding certain colors or mutations! Thank you to the developers and creators. This game is so amazing.

This game is very fun. I love that there is a vacation mode so players don’t have to worry about loosing their pets if they are inactive for some time. If you do not like sorting, collecting, or “pointless” games Ovipets will probably get boring for you. Fortunately I love organized groups lol
Fun when it actually works
The app really need to be better optimized. I can’t go into my pets lists without something timing out and the app crashing.
Ui ux are annoying
PLEASE hire an experienced UI/UX designer who knows what he’s doing 🙏🏻 current interface is BAAD and very frustrating to navigate. I will stay on browser mobile version

It’s Pay-To-Play
I used to play this game when I was younger on web, but gave up when I couldn’t do any of the basic game mechanics without paying a subscription. Was hoping it got better but if anything it’s way worse. You can’t do anything without the in game currency, which pretty much can only be gained through real money. For example, the whole point of the game is to breed and mutate creatures, but you can’t buy them without being a paid member, and you can’t mutate them without loads of in-game cash. Would rather just spend $10 on a functioning game than pay a subscription indefinitely
Amazing community
Like the title says, the community is amazing. The pets are fun to breed. It’s not something that forces you to pay real money to have fun or participate. However, I’d love to see two slight changes to the app. 1. In the friends section on browser, there’s a friend requests section. I’d like to see that in app as well. It took a week to figure out how to accept them in app (go to their profile and click the settings wheel at the bottom) 2. In the pets search feature, it’d be amazing to be able to set a filter to exclude or specifically search for pets in a project. (The amount of Slime Halation is honestly obscene in searching adoptable pets.)
Very confusing!
Just started, and it just throws you in, and it’s so confusing! The UI is so confusing and there’s no tutorial explaining how to get started other than a little help section that is hard to find and NOT helpful! There needs to be a little tutorial and introduction to the app and how everything works, because it is not clear and very confusing and leads to me not wanting to continue playing.
Great community, but…
I do not prioritize video games over real life. So having to feed our pets in a breeding game take way too long, I just know they’ll eventually all die or I’ll be in forever vacation mode. This is in no way practical and make that aspect of the game horrible. We already take long just to turn eggs to get credits. For said credits only to go to mass feeding pets make it way too. Wasteful. It’s a breeding game, we should be enjoying that aspect instead of having to worry of our pets dying. If you still wanted an aspect of death, they could simply die from old age! I mean all this in no way to offend. I do not put money in games & everything else is fine. The people playing it are absolutely amazing. I just know, sadly, that I won’t be playing it for the long run. The community itself is what made me play it for longer than I thought I would. They make their own fun mini games that are great to play. But if we take out the people, then I wouldn’t have been playing it for that long & would have stopped playing it on day 2. The only bad thing with this community is their overuse of AI art. It make me worry & not want to participate in any art challenges in worry that this game might feed our art to AIs. I like the pets, they all are very cute.
Overall review
I’ve been looking for an interesting genetics game that I can play just about anymore vs browser games like Lioden. This one achieves exactly that! Pros: -You can create your own projects -Engaging, overall positive community -Research for mutations with new mutations being added regularly -They also appear to be considering new species to add Con: -There is technically a paywall. HOWEVER, there is a way around having to spend money on the game. The game itself allows other players to send in-game paid for currency to others or has what they call a paid token. Because of the friendly community, users who purchase these can send them to unpaid players, this allows free to play (ftp) players to become paid players permanently. There are jobs in the game you can do for users that are offering up these methods to become paid or occasionally you can find giveaways for them. Overall? The game play is engaging if you love playing around with genetics. It can take time to get used to, but there are guides and players that offer to help others learn the game. Breeding can be done for specific colours, mutations, or both. Definitely a permanent game in my opinion!
What?
It’s so annoying opening an app and having to make an account. I didn’t understand the game at all even thought I read all the info and held the logo in various screens for more information. I figured out how to adopt a pet, eventually, but couldn’t understand why I could adopt it and not others. Don’t know how: breeding, genetics, or literally anything in this game worked. It had seemingly no explanation and the dashboard was hectic. Maybe Im simply stupid but the hunger function and many others just didn’t display/work. I also don’t know whats fun about a game that’s only purpose is to post your pets and interact with others. (No gameplay as far as I could tell). My suggestion would be like a short display screen explaining the point and or what to do in this “game”. I was on for 20 minutes and couldn’t tell your squat about this game.
Returning to the game
Play this game back in high school and came back when found out they had an app and it is super fun. Some things I think could improve the game are A section to teach you about the game would be great. Allowing more access to features for people who don’t pay and maybe an easier way to find eggs to turn.

Best Time Ever 😁!
Haven’t played this game quite a year yet, but I can tell it’s gonna be a keeper for years to come! Found the game by chance, it’s super fun, so artistic and such a healthy community to play in, I’m really impressed by the devs ability to foster such a welcoming community. I love the complexity of the genes, I’m still figuring stuff out to this day. I also love that you can enjoy like 99.999% of the game without having to pay. And the updates with the new mutations are always amazing, so much care and thought goes into everything they build into the game! This is truly up there in uniqueness, like Stardew or Don’t Starve. 10/10 recommend!
Fun but seems buggy
Basically a things are not showing up or are not working though, it could just be me but there’s no tutorial to teach you what to do I was quite lost there’s no way to tell what you should do first. Or if there is, it did not show up for me. Example: I can’t place a bid when I have enough, it’s all just very confusing and I wish things were clearer, since the lack of direction is confusing and even with the info here provided it almost feels like they expect you to know this
Very cool and complex genetics… but…
Yeah, it’s like Sims 4 genetics. Super cool and complex. But the game doesn’t load even when I have a 1gbps internet plan. Is there any potential issues? And yes, I have about 1gb of space left so my iPad isn’t full. And it did load when I restarted my iPad but then stopped. If this issue can get fixed, I’ll update the review to 5 stars. But excluding the endless loading screen bug, this game is pretty fun. It is slow to progress in, but not so slow it feels like torture. Also, why’s this app 12+? There’s nothing bad in it… or maybe becuase it’s a social media-like app it is 12+
Just started and a little confused?
So I’ve played it for around 10 minutes, I’ve made an account and got my first pet by adoption. It doesn’t give a tutorial or anything so I’m not sure what to do. I’ve explored a bit and I ended up getting 100 of the currency from logging in. I’m not sure what to do with it besides from bidding bug every time I try to do that it doesn’t give me the option to bid. This isn’t a complaint, just please make it more clearer of what to do or how to get pets and mutations:(

Honestly I haven’t been addicted to a game like this in a long time and I love it. It would be cool if it was possible to add a mass naming system like if you have tags on some pets you could mass name them. But honestly I love the game!

I’ve been a member since 2014, and I have to say I’m incredibly impressed with the new app! It has made the game much more enjoyable and has really enhanced the overall gameplay experience. The breeding system is so much easier to use, and the improved search features are fantastic—they save so much time and make finding what you’re looking for a breeze. My only wish is that the hatchery was unlimited, like it is on the web version. Because of that, I still find myself switching back and forth between the app and the website. If the hatchery were expanded, the app would be nearly perfect for me. Overall, I’m very pleased with the direction the game has taken and can’t wait to see what comes next. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun, engaging pet-breeding experience with an amazing community!
Needs a tutorial
I was so confused, you don’t start out with an egg or anything. It’s a neopets clone, some of the creatures are almost direct rip offs of the site. Neopets is more user friendly
Great, But Improvements Needed
I love it. It does need a bit of improvements. There needs to be a tutorial because it took me a whole day to find how to breed. They need to make the turn time for the eggs in hatchery much shorter. 30 hours for one turn is too much. More pets and more mutations. Decrease time on research. It’s too long.
Fine but not much to do
Its a good game rlly nice concept a lot of animals and mutations etc but the fact that so much of it you have to have a subscription such as bidding or buying animals or mutation parts which is rlly sad as then the only use for coins is to revive animals. You also cant have too much otherwise you hae to individually go through and feed all. Would be nice to have the auction feature for free play players and just to give paying peple benefits.
Fix please
I love this game I just recently discovered it and I can’t get enough of it. The only thing is of recently it’s been messing up or disconnecting me a lot. I would appreciate it if it’s looked into.

Some improvements needed
Fun game, a little hard to understand the functionaries as a young teen, but surprisingly enjoyable as an adult My largest complaint with this game in all forms, is the performance between looking at eggs and the repetitive movements needed to turn eggs. The performance is dictated heavily by your network speed; which great on my PC but makes it pointless to even try on my phone. I would much rather load a lot of information at once for a longer upfront time, then have to wait for a long time to turn each egg, especially since this is the main gameplay loop. Perhaps you can make adjustments so the egg turn option is disabled for others when someone turns an egg 10 before and 10 eggs away from their last egg turn, that way the user doesn’t have to wait for the server to check if the egg was turned or not EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also I don’t need to know if the egg I tried to turn has already been turned unless I tried to get a credit from it. About the repetitiveness: it is damaging to joints to complete such an action so many times. Obviously it is our job to pace ourselves, but perhaps there can be some way to reduce this strain such as an egg turn mode, so that only one button press is necessary (to open the egg you want to turn) rather than two actions (open egg, and turn egg). Other improvements: as a newer player, it’s hard to find information about all exclusive/charity mutes. I want to know the timeframe they were available, their original price, and I want a central location to be able to see all of this such as a FAQ page. I can’t find any information about when the deer exclusive mute will go away. I also have issues finding the roadmap image for 2026 unless I go to other players pages. That should be pinned somewhere for everyone to be able to see. As a newer player, the names on this roadmap are often meaningless to me, I have no idea what “mane event” or other themed events mean. It would be nice to get a little blurb in advance to understand what will be coming, you do well with the upcoming medley, and exclusive mutes on the roadmap. Finally, there is no indication to players that you must be friends in order to turn eggs, which is one of the only ways to get credits consistently
Long time player please read!
Hey! This game has incredible depth once you get the hang of it. For anyone saying you NEED to spend money on the app to play, they’re wrong. The paid features are there to help prevent “account abuse” while frustrating at first, it’s also quite necessary as you can only have one account. Some people have played years without a paid membership and have just utilized the paid community’s (real people) kindness and willingness to help where possible. The community is amazing and so helpful, you can ask a question and it’s usually answered within 15 minutes. I read some other reviews and they say that you need to have a membership in order to gain paid access, this is wrong too. ANY one time purchase grants you paid status for life. If you wish to continue supporting the Ovi team, you can continue with your purchases, but you do not need to as there are ways to earn currency in game. What some people are mistaking as a pay to play is Ovi+ this IS a membership but you do not need this in order to play. Ovi+ is “quality of life” and keeps your pets fed, cuts down on hatching times, research times, etc. long time players usually have Ovi+. In any case if you have a question about anything, ask it on one of the community posts any someone will answer ASAP, there are no “dumb” questions. Please ask!
Not Beginner Friendly
I’d like to think as a 22 year old woman I’m pretty tech savvy. I usually don’t have a hard time navigating through things. But this app / game or whatever is like dang near impossible to learn if you don’t know what you’re doing. And there’s not much of a tutorial, just a genetics breakdown basics. I thought it looked fun, hatching eggs. But after spending 30 minutes just trying to figure out where the hell I can even get eggs. I gave up.
