Great Ethical Browser
Ecosia is superb! I’ve used it for 2-3 years now and really enjoy it. It has added perks for those who wish not only use the company but then access other ethical websites through a little symbol. There have been bugs here and there, but these are fixed within a good timeframe. The AI feature wasn’t great when it came out, but for myself I choose not use AI and have turned it off - this is part of its friendly and customisable user interface.
Kept saying robot
After a few minutes use this claimed unusual traffic, challenged to prove human without issuing check and then refused to work. I’m very dyslexic. This isn’t a good tool for me if it quits after 1 five minute search as I’m a PG student studying remotely.
Very green option - Please don’t use the AI!!! The ai is not green but the browser is x

i used ecosia for ages but it added ai overview? so hypocritical since they’re meant to care about the environment. at least you can turn it off

Listen it's a great alternative and really is a good idea... BUT now I don't know if its just me or the app but the ai feature always gets things wrong then when you say that it's incorrect it proceeds to simply guess its getting very annoying and I don't know how much I can take. Examples: when I asked a question about a specific Simpsons episode it jumbled up the episodes and spoiled major things in the film despite me saying not to. Example two: when I asked about a character in the hunger games it told me that character does not exist in the hunger games world then when I asked a question that would force it to mention that character it made up a different character that was never mentioned in the books. Now I could go on and on but don't wanna bore you so thank you and I love the idea just few tweaks thanks.
Silly captcha
Every time I try to search something it says “Our system has detected unusual traffic from your network. Please solve the challenge below to show you’re not a robot.” So I click on the cloudflare thingy but it just reloads the page and gives me the same message! So disappointing! I was excited to use this browser because of the positive climate impact but I guess it wasn’t meant to be 😭
One small issue…
I love this app with my whole heart, and have been using it for months now. A problem that started to happen a month or so ago is I cannot search anything up anymore because I need to make sure I am “not a robot.” Now, I’m pretty sure I’m not, but every time I press the verify symbol it just stays on that screen. Ive tried reporting the problem, but it hasn’t been fixed. Please fix this! Thank you!

Das Konzept, Bäume zu pflanzen finde ich toll. Allerdings speichert Ecosia scheinbar Einstellungen nicht. Wenn ich KI ausschalte, geht diese nach einigen Tagen einfach wieder an. Ich finde es sowieso fragwürdig, dass eine angeblich umweltfreundliche Suchmaschine KI implementiert, aber na ja. Ansonsten ähnlich gut wie die meisten Suchmaschinen.

It’s a great concept and when it works it’s great but it constantly freezes and is unusable and you have to delete the app and its data then download it again
Good for me good for the planet
I’m so glad I’ve moved to this search engine. It works well and I love hearing about the trees they’ve planted and the great advertising they are doing on solutions to the catastrophic climate changes we are already experiencing. A glimmer of hope in an otherwise very bleak political landscape.

The absolute irony in talking about climate change and planting trees when this browser literally uses an AI overview on every single search. Isn’t that literally wasting all of the water on the planet? How is that helping climate change? if someone actually wants to invent a search engine that doesn’t give me some awful AI answer every single time, whilst simultaneously making everyone more collectively dumber and using up all our fresh water supplies - then let me know and I’ll be the first to use it. There’s no point in planting trees if there’s no water left to water the damn trees! And yes, I’m aware that you can disable it, but it shouldn’t be there in the first place if you value the planet

GenAI? Really?
For a search engine whose entire identity revolves around being (relatively) environmentally friendly, it’s ridiculous that they’ve integrated a mandatory GenAI feature. Sure, there’s a box to deselect it, but I’ve deselected it several times, but every time I make a new search query it shows up again. Bad enough that it piggy-backs on Microsoft Bing, but it’s just gross that AI Overview is even an option in this app 🤖🤮
No search access
Verified I am human, but still won’t search can only access by entering url. Troubleshooting suggestions do not work. Only reporting available seems to reporting a bug that will no be looked at until the next update

Greenwashing wrapped up in a clunky unoptimised search engine
I feel like this browser is just a tool to make it harder to be an environmentalist the way it’s so poorly designed. And it’s new ai search engine which completely diminishes the entire point engine does more harm than it does good.
robot verification
I love this search engine but I got a robot verification without the puzzle and for several days nothing has changed :( I uninstalled I cleared cache, everything & it still persists, I can't search anything because the test isn't showing up I'm so confused & irritated

Where are the bookmarked pages?
I love ecosia for most things but the only issue I have found is accessing bookmarks on IOS. Idk if it’s the case on other devices but the homepage is quite useless.

switching to a browser that doesn’t push me AI-generated results. I know I can disable it, but at least have people opt-in to using AI, not having it set as default! I had greater hopes for you.
Can’t search
I love this app and have been using it for awhile on both my phone and iPad, but a few days ago on my iPad it got stuck on a never ending cycle saying I’m a bot, I can’t search anything up, pls fix this

Love the idea of Ecosia
I was happy to find a browser alternative, and was happily using Ecosia, but now for some reason I can’t use it at all because it is glitching on the ‘prove you’re not a robot’ screen, despite reinstalling etc
Quite literally non-evil version of Google
I love Ecosia so much, I like seeing how I can ,in even if it’s a small way, positively affect the environment.It works just as well as Google and even has a more environmentally friendly version of AI(if that’s what you’re worried).I made the switch and i’m not going back.I 100% recommend to any and everyone.

I attempted to open the browser and it has disappeared? I can’t open it and it redirects me?
AI + new updates
Isn’t having AI kind of counterproductive. Also i don’t know what’s wrong with you guys in the last few updates but there’s more and more space taken by different app things, and we can’t see the pinned websites anymore. We used to have like more than 10 slots and in the past year or so we progressively (and ridiculously) ended up with only 4 SLOTS. Super annoying.
Good but a captcha problem
I used it, but the captcha is so hard and it loads every time I search something and when I try to do it, it does not work, so please fix this. (That’s why I got a 3 starts rating) Yeah so bye
The only search engine to use
If you say you care about the planet, and our environment, and you don't use this search engine you are a hypocrite, or worse! Just as good as Google & they plant trees with their revenue. Already 87 million trees planted but we need 100x that to make a REAL DIFFERENCE! Please use it and tell everyone you have ever met to use it too 🙏❤️
More AI bull.
Clunky and awkward to use, I’ve turned off ai overview repeatedly and yet it still gives me an ai overview on my searches. The whole reason I downloaded this particular browser was to be environmentally conscious and also avoid ai, which I assumed - being the “eco” browser, Ecosia would by default not have any ai integration whatsoever. I was glad to see I could turn it off and then once again disappointed to discover it turns itself back on every time.

My App updatet on its own. Looks not good. More complicate to handle. Takes time to learn. Feels bad. Van you please offer switching to the old design/theme?
AI and ads not great
I’m mostly happy with Ecosia for its environmental initiative, but I’m not thrilled about the use of AI in the search engine - and not even displaying in my language. I moved from Google in the hopes of not having AI. Also, I understand that paid ads help Ecosia, but it’s been weeks that every webpage I visit is littered with video GIFs of some golden elixir being poured onto a big toe with an overgrown nail…. Yay.

Crash/lag
It used to be a great browser. It keeps freezing on iPhone recently and I need to close the app. Other web browsers don’t seem to have this issue.

I know a few people are arguing that the AI feature is provided in a more sustainable fashion, if that is in fact true, the ai feature should still be dropped. It comes off as incredibly hypocritical, it normalizes the use of ai in general.

Great app but one major drawback
This is absolutely amazing bc Wdym we get to plant trees for something that we all do everyday? My only issue is that i keep getting signed out of my account both on my ipad and iPhone is there a fix for this or is a problem that you’re aware of?

I downloaded ecosia specifically because I was sick and tired of googles AI overviews. We know that AI is harmful and uses a lot of water unnecessarily. The claims were made that ecosia does not use AI and so makes it a sustainable alternative. I do a search using ecosia and what is at the top of the search page? An AI overview. How can you claim to be environmentally sustainable and use AI searches?
