What people like
- Extremely accurate for the Kansas City area
- Lightning alerts are surprisingly spot on
- Easy to use and simple interface
What they complain about
- Too many ads interrupt you constantly
- Alerts often arrive too late to be useful
- App crashes or loads very slowly
I love it!
It’s very accurate and it’s a very great app and I love it!
Sound on weather video broadcasts on app cut out 5-10 seconds in after update
There’s no way to contact anyone to make you aware of bugs or glitches. This is only one issue with this app- every time you post a video update of the weather forecast, the sound goes silent a quarter of the way through EVERY TIME. Way too many ads and every time you open the app you get a long welcome/Home Screen that takes awhile to go away. Seems like the app is getting worse.
Too much noise on screen
Please add the various weather cams showing views of the city to this app. The weather cams are on KCTV5.com but not in either of the KCTV5 apps. Also, the closer camera view of the KCTV5 Tower from Children’s Mercy would be a nice cam to add to the public list of cams.
Not location specific
The hourly forecast on this thing will tell you that there is a 90% chance of rain while the radar shows that the rain is 30 miles south. In other words, they’re only tracking location to generate ad data and make money, not to provide accurate weather information. (Which they don’t.)
Too many ads
Period. Just too many ads. Makes for a very cluttered app. Needs to be cleaned up!
Finally! A local app that works!
This app is fantastic. I’ve had all the various national apps and none of them take into account the nuances of local weather patterns. They are clearly just software. This app is not! It is reliable and accurate and has all the information you want. My favorite is the daily tab, that breaks down daytime vs nighttime weather, and the radar function. The only thing I don’t like is that some things are a bit small and hard to read/view, such as the video links on the home page. (Just a bit too much stuff on that home page.) I highly recommend this app to everyone in KC - even fellow Brian Busby loyalists like myself.
Idiots
Keeps asking me to change setting for "always on" when it IS set for always on, then the screen won't remove unless I change to "only while using."
Nice but delayed like any other weather app (read review!)
I LOVE LOVE ALL THE OPTIONS but tell me why I went outside and it’s pouring, 15 minutes later “Heavy rain detected near your location” I look outside and I’m excited to see how it could possibly get worse after how much rain I saw, and it’s barely raining, if sprinkling at all! I guess I’m giving it a 4 star review mostly because I was excited to see how much rain there was and got disappointed because of the delay. **Positive note:** Super cool app, I can even see when hails coming which I didn’t find on my other app. The lightning alerts are pretty spot on and I love looking at the lightning in the sky then seeing on the map where it striked?! Uh, super cool. And I even get alerts like lightning is 0.4 miles away from your location and then I get to watch it lol. So the lightning alerts are spot on once again. Otherwise from my small complaint maybe I’ll change it to a 5 when I use the app a little more. I usually don’t leave bad reviews because I feel pretty bad.
Notifications
I don’t want notifications about the weather being nice. I only care about severe weather. About to uninstall because these notifications are getting out of hand.
Good system
Timely information
Love you near the Ozarks you keep us weather alert ‼️
Love you and we don’t live in kc metro. We live in Tipton MISSOURI and still get accurate weather alerts for our area!!
Too many ads
There is far too much advertising in this app. I don’t wanna have to listen to a bunch of advertising to get my information and often times it loops through the advertising multiple times. The old version of the app never did this. I will probably uninstall it.
Weather updates
Over all your weather updates are good but they’re not very timely. It’s 8 o’clock Monday morning and you’re still showing Sunday mornings forecast. I need to be more current.
Great app, remove the ads
This is a great App, the only thing wrong with it is the ad banner.
Weather App
Preferred the radar before the update; however, I still use the app. frequently.
Love it
Love this weather app. The only one I use
Offensive ads
Keeps putting alt-right, radical ads on the site.
Confusing – I get lost.
The app is inconsistent. It gets into modes that I can’t understand. I can’t figure out how to get back to the normal function. It needs clearer links to access the different parts of the app.
5 weather
Basics are here but not good for other market areas
Need more volume
Volume is bad …..needs to be louder
Cluttered mess
Coming from a different state, with a different format for the local news weather app, and holding this one up to it is ridiculous. I just type in my new location on my old app from NC because of how messy this one is. Simplify y’all!
So far, so good
Have had the app a few days, so far I like it. Like the layout, everything is easy to find and navigate to. Would GLADLY pay for an ad-free version.
Kctv5 weather app
I use it daily,
To much fluff
For weather it has too much fluff. I have changed to a different tv station app which contains only weather related information at one button.
Great app
It’s good
Storm Track 5
I can get accurate forecasts on my iPhone isolated just for where I live or where I plan to be at any given time. I can even check the weather where my family lives all around the Country. It’s amazing!!
Problems with app
It seems lately the app is down more than working. I can’t count on it.
Weather at my finger tips
I love it . I can plan my summer with this always very accurate. Updated often . Perfect it sure works for my family and I
Makes me feel safe
I love this app. Whether it’s the middle or the night or I’m on the go outdoors; I can always access the weather the radar and any warnings to keep me and my family safe and informed. Thanks for putting this out for us to use channel5!
Propaganda
Used to enjoy this app when it focused on weather, traffic and power outages. Today got a “breaking” notification for an anti-2A story involving mass shootings in the US; no context, just random spewage. I don’t need propaganda garbage in my weather app.
2021 Snowstorm
I just want to commend you on your continuous coverage of the weather which is not being done on any other station. I really enjoy listening and watching as it unfolds . It’s so much better than watching all the crime and killings everyday. This is a new year and hopefully, a new beginning for KC. Onward and Upward👍♥️❄️🎄☃️cheers to Channel 5 - we love you!
KC News
Short, quick news, which is very good, though too many ads.
The best weather App for KC
This is hands down the easiest to use, most accessible weather App for the Kansas City area. I appreciate the accurate information, timely weather advisories, and simple interface.
Terrible app
Takes way to long to load/run if it does start without crashing. I usually have to use another weather app cause it loads up quicker. Recently, it sent out a weather alert regarding an Amazon sale, why did it send out an alert about a sale? I use Fox 4 KC app now
