A refreshing approach
Really like how simple and personalized the recommendations feel. Its actually easy to stick with.
Awful
First thing I did was throw it a simple recipe and state that I had 150g of it. Basic function in other tracking apps. AI absolutely butchered it. No amount of finagling would result in the AI calculating a portion of a recipe. This app is for performative food loggers who do it to feel better, not get actual results.
Nice UI UX but functionality can be improved
Compared to other fitness/weight loss apps, Welling is 1 of the best in terms of the user interface and experience since it has a ChatGPT-like platform to ask n reply to gather more info instead of just inserting your stats, which is very helpful for ppl who needs help in their fitness journey. Things to improve could be having the Steps fully integrated into the system like how our fitness stats from Apple health could help add on to your calories capacity for the day and not just as a display with no functions. Like why display the steps when there’s no function? Steps are equally useful to burn daily calories and should be used to offset your calories intake. I’ve seen other apps that includes the steps. The streaks are not functionally well too as I’ve started 4 months ago and diligently filling up the info but the streak is displaying incorrectly as 10+ streaks.
COST MONEY!!!!!
The app overall seems really good, BUT IT COST, $23.00 a month!!! Or $120.00 a year. I’m sorry but NO THANK YOU. Because it’s literally just AI, so you could ask the same thing to ChatGPT for free.
Identify
The Welling AI does not identify your meal very adequate even when I take a close up picture of my meal
Food Database
The app is super easy to use and has clean aesthetics. Their database actually does a great job showing a wide range of food cultures I eat from too
Smoke and Mirrors
They state free with in app purchases but….. it’s really free to download ( which is just stupid) and you owe $22.99 a month after 7 days of strategy and just getting started. But that’s the idea. I knew Cody at Wrangler Star had to be up to something shady. He said it’s a free app and that’s just a lie. Now they will give a BS excuse to me and need me to contact an email so they look sincere Don’t Believe it.
Looks good
Only just downloaded and the concept sounds good so hopefully I will find that out
Great Concept, Weak Database and Inaccurate Estimates
I appreciate the idea behind Welling — making food logging simple by just snapping a photo of your plate. The concept is smart and could be genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the execution falls short. The product database is woefully lacking, and the app’s generic guesses for what’s on your plate are often inaccurate. Because of that, I find myself double-checking its work, which defeats the whole purpose of an ‘easy’ tracker. I can’t fully trust the numbers it gives me. I even paid for the one-year subscription and now regret it — it just isn’t reliable enough to justify the cost. If they updated and expanded their database, this could be a much better tool. As it stands, it’s more frustrating than useful.”
Not true AI
This is a prompted response App not AI. Simple things I say like “I didn’t eat breakfast “ it doesn’t understand. It also scolds me for 100 calorie breakfast choices (Oatmeal) because it has “Maple and Brown Sugar” It says its High in calories huh? The oatmeal has less than one gram of sugar. And I gave it the entire label. It is not thinking -it is giving canned responses to the word sugar.
Great App
Setup was easy and app is great! No hidden adds or purchases
They take your information and then make you pay
They take all you info and you spent some time logging all of their questions. The. You get immediately prompted to start a subscription or you can’t use their product. Also, it’s all ai. No personalization just computer.
Great at first. Just “good” afterwards
At first and when comparing the app with other calorie counting apps, this app is great. It has the ‘most’ intelligent AI you will find. I got the trial period and it was amazing, then I decided to give it a go for three months and I started to see some flaws in the AI Sometimes I have to ask it three or four times to go back and change things for example. He estimated the threes most strawberries will be 225g which is completely wrong, so nowadays it’s giving me more trouble to go back and correct It’s estimate than to manually input one by one. I also miss the option to create my own meals with specific ingredients when cooking for the recipes I find online and that has no name for example.
Not Even Close to Ready
Welling is a typical food tracking app, but with the entry and search functionality replaced by a conversational AI. Unfortunately, the AI is absolutely not ready for prime-time, which means having the entire UX built around it is a terrible idea. It can’t retrieve basic search queries. It can’t adjust former entries consistently. It makes terrible assumptions about serving sizes, etc. You’re essentially forced to save everything as a favorite meal, which entirely defeats the purpose of the AI. I will say the interface is very smooth and intuitive. If you weren’t forced to access everything via the AI, it might be a great app.
Inaccurate and unreliable, but still cool
The idea is amazing and the ai meal prep feature is neat. However, I’ve found the ai estimations to be extremely unreliable and inconsistent. If you put in the same meal twice, it could give you two different sets of Macros. The app told me that 2 oz of my home cooked meal was 180 calories. I copied the same meal and adjusted for 3 oz and it told me, one extra ounce of the same meal was now 1,600 calories. I have to double check and edit each meal, something I thought I’d be doing very little of while PAYING for an app. Hopefully in a few years the technology is advanced enough to keep up with what this company is advertising. A little annoyed I payed for three months. My expectations were too high.
Made me lose weight
Ya i lost weight now i have a femboy boyfriend
Extremely Disao
This is actually the first time I have bothered to review an app, but the experience was so bad that I wanted others to know and hopefully avoid wasting their time. I was excited about finding a nutrition app where I could chat both to make it easier to track my nutrition vs. goals and to dive deeper into some of the metrics and how to improve. The first issue is that the app kept forgetting things already outlined. This memory fade cost a lot of time because I had to keep repeating myself. Second, there was an issue where repeatedly it would simply reply with something like “Sorry I can’t find the food you are trying to adjust,” even though I wasn’t trying to adjust anything. I would then just reply “focus” and it would get back on track. These kind of repeated inputs are what drove the final thing that put me off this product. I was trying to work through how to lower my sodium and all of a sudden I got a message “You have reached your limit of 200 chats for the day.” Mind you there was no warning, nothing I saw when I signed up ever mentioned a limit. This was my first day with the app, and I spent a lot of effort trying to figure out how best to communicate with it, and digging into a lot of questions, but probably half of my chats were trying to get it to correct when it had memory fade or glitched. Overall, even within the core product there are big problems. It was significantly off in calculating nutrition from a photo I uploaded. Other times even when I gave it a specific brand of something I ate, it miscalculated the nutritional info. Overall, like a lot of AI tools this one was clearly rushed to production before it was ready
Useful but needs improvements
I feel like this app helps me to be more mindful of what I eat because I know I’m going to log it. After some testing the AI seems quite decent at recognising food and estimating nutrition information. However the thing that makes me hesitate to continue using it is the UX. It is weirdly hard to do like, hey I have this food I eat often and I know the nutrition information of all the components. Can I save the final recipe as a favourite. Either I need to take one picture of the final food and then manually adjust the components. Or upload the nutrition labels of the components and favourite them one by one (so I have to save multiple things instead of one). Not sure if I’m missing something here, but this needs to be much more intuitive!
Bad memory, inaccurate
AI is awesome if you take everything at face value and never question the answers you’re given. If you want to use this app as an accurate tool, you’ll be putting in as much effort on prompts as you would doing this by hand.
Has potential
I was excited about this because I’ve been an avid user of MFP, but it would get the same things incorrect, the estimates would be way off and it would glitch often. I ended up going back to MFP. I really tried to make it work
AI = amazing experience
I tried MyFitnessPal a couple times, but it never stuck because it’s so time consuming to find and keep track of everything. Welling makes it so simple and fast. I was most skeptical that the AI would be accurate, but so far it hasn’t missed anything. Extremely impressed!
Inaccurate but looks nice
Pretty design but I found the AI to be way off with very limited options to correct the mistakes. Ultimately the convenience of the AI was undercut by bad results and limited editing capabilities and so I moved on.
Perfect Idea Needing Larger Database
I had been looking for a simple food tracker that allowed me to just throw in foods, approximate amounts, and brands, and it give me calories, macros, and an encouraging word. This app just does that. I find it great for people who have previously had a bad relationship with food or dieting in that it’s simple, doesn’t push numbers at you, and leaves positive words with you even if what you’ve eaten isn’t ideal. My only complaint is that branded foods entered (eg a specific brand of protein bar) show up with incorrect — normally higher — calories and have to be manually edited, and then those edits don’t save, so the next time you eat that same item, it has to be fixed again. I imagine this could be fixed by either growing the data being fed into the AI’s database or creating a way to suggest or save edits.
Love the look, hate the inaccurate tracking
Simple modern clean gorgeous! Unfortunately does not have actual AI tracking abilities and does not know calorie counts.
Need more tuning when it comes to portions
The app concept is great, but the scale is way too off, especially when measuring fruits,
It’s Like Having a Dietitian in Your Pocket
**TL;DR:** It’s fast, it’s easy, and it has everything I need. Fantastic work! Welling is by far the fastest and easiest way I’ve found to track calories. Whether you log by describing your food, using a photo, scanning a barcode, or scanning a label, it is incredibly quick and intuitive. The photo and description features are accurate to the label within 5% in most cases, and even closer if you describe your meal in more detail. The voice-to-text feature makes logging even faster. Its ease of use makes staying consistent less of a hassle, which is the most important thing for me. My favorite thing about the app is how you can actually talk to it. If I ask how my day is looking so far, it gives me a quick rundown. If I need to know how much more protein I need, it tells me instantly and even suggests good ways to get there. It also gives feedback after you log a meal, letting you know what was great or what could be improved, with gentle suggestions or alternatives. UPDATE: The app continues to improve with regular updates, and I’m happy to see the team is already working on writing nutrition data to Apple Health. The support team is responsive and open to feedback, which makes me excited to stick with the app long-term. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. It deserves Cal AI’s spot in the App Store, and I’m confident it’ll only get better.
Not accurate
This app is not accurate at all. While I was trying to make adjustments to what I had previously input, it just kept adding those calories to my daily total and dwindling it down until I had about 200 cal left for the day and I couldn’t get it to correct itself no matter what I said.
Has lots of potential
The interface of the app is great, and just taking a photo and letting AI itemise the dishes makes it easy to log meals. There are some discrepancies in calories for food items (compared to fitnesspal), can’t tell which is more accurate. The AI responses with different answers for the same food item at times. But otherwise, the app made meals logging interesting to do.
Wildly inaccurate
Maybe it’s because I’m based in the US, but I tried the weekly trial. Because I wanted to make sure the app was tracking accurately, I double checked everything I ate against the packaging and the app consistently under counted or over counted both calories and macros. I only had two meals where I didn’t have to go in and manually correct amounts. I really like the idea of this, but it needs more training.
Buggy
I really do like the app but has been fairly buggy lately. Won’t auto log, mostly logging issues. Making it take way too long to plan my week.
AI Calorie Tracker is a powerful and easy-to-use app
The app’s AI-driven technology quickly recognizes foods and estimates calorie counts, making it incredibly convenient for tracking meals on the go. The interface is clean and intuitive, with helpful features like barcode scanning, custom meal plans, and progress tracking.
Paid for a year ($120) and deleted it, so disappointed
I bought a full year sub for $120 and gave it a very serious try - entering everything daily and trying to teach the AI but after so so many errors I’m done as it’s way more work than it should be. Constantly miscalculating food. No ability to manually enter steps if you don’t want to link to apple health. Doesn’t have an app for Apple Watch as well! But ultimately the kicker for me was the constant mistakes in logging and really poor nutritional advice/guidance. Useless at best, erroneous advice at worst - constantly making mistakes. Brought zero value and a lot of frustration. At this high price tag it’s just unacceptable. Annoyed I wasted so much money trying to commit to this and teaching the AI for nothing.
Almost perfect
Clean and simple interface. It is also very convenient and efficient. However, AI can be better improved as it does not seem to record historical data. Similar meals / shakes taken daily need constant amendments despite already revising it several times.
Stopped allowing me to add new logs on 3/25 even though I'm a subscriber
App stopped working on 3/25/25. It no longer is accepting new logs and is basically a waste of money every day it doesn't work.
App wasn’t showing the logs properly
The app was working well for me for the past 2 months and now it wonky because no matter how much i logged my meals , it stated AI had logged it in but it just didn’t show up. If this is a bug , please fix it.
Genius
Trying out the three month version but an AI macro tracker is a genius idea. I hated manually putting in each detail on the lofesum app! The chat is a fun and easy format to use and I like that it suggests recipes based on my preferences that day.
The app keeps crashing
The functionality is ok and works well for calorie counting, but it keeps crashing. There are days when I log the foods diligently only to see the app frozen and not counting any of it. Additionally, if I go on airplane mode the app logs out. Both are frustrating especially for a paid app. If this doesn’t get fixed I will uninstall and stop paying for it - free versions of chat AI count the calories just fine.
Almost Perfect
This app is almost perfect! It's easy to use, more accurate with calculations than other apps, and looks beautiful design wise. I only wish it tracked apple watch move calories. Besides that, it's wonderful!
Buggy
Just downloaded it and I’m on the free trial and it’s not uploading certain things to my logs even when I send a separate message to add to it. Finally got it to after trying a few times and resetting the app. Then it wouldn’t let me update the quantity. Can’t imagine I’ll be going through with the purchase because it’s not doing what it should. Bummed cus it’s a really good idea and I love the design but just doesn’t deliver 🤷🏼
Glitch
I love the “math” that Welling provides, but the coaching is off. When I explain that I only eat two meals a day, she will ask the next day if I forgot to enter dinner. Also, I am recovering from major surgery and not able to log 8000 steps right now, which I have told her multiple times. She always promises to make a note and apologizes, but nothing changes. I even said moving forward to just do the math for me and not worry about the coaching piece. Again nothing changes. Heartfelt apologies and promises to make a note of the issue are nice but clearly are not happening.
Calories tracker
Most reliable way to track your Fiona’s hit your health goals.
Aplicación de pago sin que te avisen primero
Te obligan a calificar 5 estrellas y luego te informan que la app es de pago
Convenient way to track macros
Really easy way to track your calorie intake. Love that it can detect local cuisine!
No manual goal setting
Pretty useless since you can’t set manual calories . Double the prize of Macro Factor or MFP and you can’t do manual goals ? Really ?
Feedback
Some features of app not friendly. Not flexible in changing portion of food, deleted Favourites keeps appearing on the app, cannot edit a Favourited recipe. Hope bugs can be fixed, app can be updated and UX can be improved. Otherwise its a helpful app
This has a lot of promise
Used various calorie counting apps over the years but always abandoned due to the added friction of bloat and unintuitive ux. I’ll give it to LLMs for enabling such simple ux apps with a ton of heavy features. P.S. Although I think the subscription charge is a bit too much, I’m willing to try this out for a year.
Bad
Made me do a 30 minute long starting process and then told me I had to pay for it.
Great App
Love it. Great UI, UX it’s simple, it’s responsive and the model rolls with the punches. I have never had an easier time logging calories, it’s so seamless I almost look forward to it. With that said, it’s missing the ability to write back to Apple health. That’d hook me for the yearly no problem.
Make a demo version or a free one for new users
You cannot use it for free. How am I supposed to know if I like the application or not
Useful but app needs work
Useful and easy but reliability for the app is low. Often will tell you there’s a connection issue and won’t load. Unlike other calorie tracking apps that learn the barcode and nutrition after you key in for the first time, this does not. Which is not very intuitive and you have to keep taking a photo of the label each time.
