What people like
- Voice sounds very natural and human-like
- Helpful for studying and retaining information
- Great tool for editing written work by listening
- Many different voice options available to choose from
What they complain about
- Subscription cost feels too high
- Free version limits reading to ten pages daily
- Files do not sync across different devices
- Poor text recognition for scanned or blurry documents
Wonderful Experience
Reading long pdf documents was not my strength, especially “ small prints on raking insurance or signing up to some web. Now i can “ hear and understand” what a relief!
TERRIBLE!
Overpriced, the voice selection is awful, you have to take numerous photos to get it to come out clear enough for it to read. I sent several emails to support asking how to cancel my subscription over the past month, and they just ignored me! DON'T USE THIS AWFUL APP!
Good app
I think it’s a good app, although on an iPad is really useful and doesn’t glitch but on a phone it glitches quite a lot and doesn’t work as well. you’ll only get to read 10 pages a day, but you can trick the system by taking a picture of two pages at the same time then you will be able to read 20 pages :)!
Slow skips entire sentences
This app is horrible. Regularly skips entire sentences.
Kids love it
This is one of the best APP for kids
£20 a month is insane
go to the library instead and get borrowbox
LOVE! BookPod is Lifesaver
As a mom, executive, and life-long learner, I've had a learning disability that makes it difficult for me to read, affecting how I learn. Now with BookPod, I choose my preferred voice. I now have a support aiding me read through the pages, overcoming my learning anxiety and limitations. Thank you so much for this amazing technology that help lives like mine.
New version has an unuseable bug
Normally this is a wonderful app but as of late May 2026, it no longer generates speech, despite reinstall on iOS 26.5
Audio will not generate after purchasing year subscription!
I loved how the apps tone sounded while reading which inclined me to purchase the yearly subscription. However it now will not generate me any new audio. I wanted to try on my laptop but it also would not let me log into my account on another device. I payed for it 2 days ago and have contacted them about the problem but have not heard anything back!
Awesome app
Absolutely great and usefull app!!
False advertisement
It never said that it was a free trial and needs a membership to continue reading. Also, if you don’t scan a picture, clearly it would skip words or change phrases
BookPod review
5 out of 5, it’s a nice app it didn’t take long to generate the voice and the transition between pages, when it’s reading it is really smooth. The voice is nice it’s like a real person is reading the story, it mimics the emotions on the book really well. Though, it can only read up to 10 pages a day and the subscription cost 24$ which is a bit pricey for me but nonetheless it’s really nice.
Great but too expensive
Currently priced at $20 per month or $99 per year. No mention of the subscription model was present in the App Store description. You get 10 free pages of reading per day, which isn't much of a few textbooks.
Great App
Lots of voices to choose between .
Suggest a Fix
The app defaults to auto scan which is cool but I accidentally scanned something that wasn’t a page and now I don’t see how to delete it. Should be a long press menu option for that particular image but doesn’t appear to be…
AI voice with no additional fee
Love it!
Insanely Good
I was desperate to find a good pdf reader, for my study reading assignments. The reader voice is so natural and engaging, it is insane. I'd argue it is more engaging than the actual voice of my pre-recorded tutor. The app is simple and easy. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
How to cancel
I noticed this is a free trial how to I cancel there is no option
Good but need improve
I cannot go to the page I want, I have to scroll back and forth everytime. It's a watse of time doing that.
What a great app for writers!
I am in the middle of writing an audiobook series. This app allows me to listen to it, and then I can edit or change what I don’t feel belongs in my story. It saves me time and allows me to improve my narrative.
Good
Sadly it’s not free Need a subscription
great for school
i got this so i can use it for school. the way it read my pdf's to me so realistically helps me to retain the information as well as grasp the context from intent it was written in. This AI thing is great and very helpful.
Didn't like it at all
very bad AI, and unclear rading
Very good
I want to cry when I finally found this app
Glitchy
Doesn’t pronouns r letters and speaks gibberish every now and again.
