Flash Weather: Future Radar reviews
4.4 out of 5, based on 104 reviews.
What people like
- Lightning alerts help keep people safe outside
- Charts clearly show threat levels by distance
- Very accurate compared to other weather apps
What they complain about
- Radar and lightning maps often stop working
- Most features are now locked behind a paywall
- App crashes or closes unexpectedly on launch
- Location services sometimes show the wrong state
Dog thunder flight risk
Highly recommend. Been super useful to get alerts when lightning and thunder are close by. We have a dog that is terrified of thunder and jumps the fence. Now we can prepare and lock her in the house.
Pay for too much
Tried this app when first came out. Had issues, something’s changed. But way too many features are free on well known free apps. Paying for lightning alerts-nope, the metrics (showing humidity, uv, etc) never appears). Will stick with major names and forget all this AI BS.
Very nice!
I like the app a lot, but either I'm confused or it is missing a critical feature: notifications! I expected the app to send me a notification when there was an advisory or warning, but apparently you have to go into the app and check proactively. If notifications were added, this would be a great app but until then I need to rely on other apps that provide warnings via the iOS notification system.
Issues
This app was recommended to me with the caveat that it doesn’t always load quickly or at all. After a few days I would agree. I’m in the middle of a storm and the lightening feature won’t load. Seems decent but only if it works which appears to be about half the time. Certainly not worth the price they charge
Great app IF you pay.
Great lightning app and interface, but basic things like more than one location notification requires a subscription so I’ve moved to other apps.
Must Have Weather APP
Flash Weather AI has become my sole go-to weather. Everything I need weather wise in one place and extremely accurate. Site specific and easy to save multiple locations. The lightning prediction is unparalleled and a great safety tool!
Pay to use
I loved using this, but now more than 90% of the futures are locked behind a premium. Will be finding a different app.
Good start, needs counter data.
This app is unique in the lightning app area. I like the chart layout showing colored indicators of threat of lighting in set distance. What will set this app apart from other would be to have a lightning counter on each distance demarcation. Add in the trend rate (increasing / decreasing) would be amazing to see as this will allow a person to determine threat levels at each distance level indicated on the Y axis.
Was an amazing app till premium kicked in.
Used to be a great app for taking out to the golf course but with the latest update this thing is now locked tighter than Fort Knox for premium add ons. I’m reverting back to MY Radar since it’s also Apple Car Play accessible.
App
It is a very good app I’m actually a referee and always use it to determine if we are allowed to play, I actually recommended it to both my brothers, but recently it’s been crashing out every time I open it
Flapping my wings for Flash AI
Flash AI obviously gives weather notifications. I am an avid or an anthologist and have been seeking a European Stirling my entire life. Thank God, I had my lightning notification turned on because boy did I get one and boy did European starling all thanks to Flash AI!
App became horrible after premium came in
After the recent update close to everything became paid I would have preferred ads and not having to pay just to get notifications or the heat forecast. Very disappointing after the update.
Was working but since the upgrade.
It will no open up all the way then it closes. I uninstalled the software then reinstalled the software but it is still trying to open then closes. Was a great program be the upgrade. It will only show less than 12 miles . It used to tell you that the lighting was 1 mile or less from your area.
Beware - Ignore earlier comments app works well now!
With the latest update 5/01/26, I was able to subscribe, and the app works very well indeed. Highly recommended! The lightning alerts are magnificent, if they work. They now hide them under a Premium toll bridge; there does not seem to be any way to sign up for this on my iPod - when I go to manage account, all I get is a promo for Apple One. I have contacted the app at least five times, and have received no answer. I want to sign up, but can’t find any way do so…
Radar not working
Radar hasn’t worked in over a month
Very Accurate!
This app is so much more accurate than anything I have seen out there. Love it!!
No Flash?!
Radar and lightning maps are no longer working(IPhone 16 Pro Max)!!!!
Great app!
Love it!
Location
Turned on location and input location and still showed my location in another state.
10/10 Weather App
Best weather app I’ve ever used! Wish i could give it 10 stars
Meh!!!
Tried creating an account and it wouldn’t take, so no thanks…
Safety & Accuracy
It’s a go to app for our day to day operations running a golf course and keeping patrons and staff safe.
Junk
Sitting in the middle of a thunderstorm and this silly app says it all good. No need to pull kids from the pool.
Love it
his is a recommend app for sure it doesn't tell lies like the rest and it's very helpful
Not worth it
Just had a strong line of severe thunderstorms come through and nothing. It’s like the app is not working.
Great app
This app has been so helpful for me!! I coach youth soccer so I’m outside all the time, so knowing when lightening is coming has helped me plan my session well. I also like the radar way more than other apps. Definitely worth it!
