What they complain about
- Mobile app lacks editing features
- Sync issues break workflow constantly

Whole New Way Of Taking Notes
Life changing for me. Mobile app is in development but has no major bugs or flaws. Desktop is simply incredible. Works flawlessly with constant new updates. Heptabase is the visual notes app to use.

Good concept
Too expansive…
Smooth,Well-integrated and Highly Recommended
I remember trying this app 1–2 years ago and didn’t like it, so I uninstalled it quickly. Now I’m using it again, and it feels very smooth, especially across different systems. PDF support is also great, and I mostly read PDFs on it now. Many other apps have similar features, but none integrate them as well as Heptabase. The developers are patient and answer almost every question. I highly recommend giving it a try!
Absolutely unusable
Its absolutely insane to me to have an app suck THIS bad.
Where are the tables, the kanban boards? Where’s the rest of the app?
MIA: tables and kanban boards. Are they coming to iPad?
Awesome app
I was skeptical at first but once I got familiar with the basic navigation and features I am never going back to all the other tools I have tried over the years! Love it - keep up the great work Heptabase team.
Drawing functions
Sometimes I would need to draw graphs or shapes between cards or even in cards, especially when learning economics. So, it would be thrilling if you can develop or lead in drawing function. Many thanks
Don’t believe the negative review!
Heptabase is next-generation knowledge management: PKM + VUE (visual understanding environment). Nothing does it better than Heptabase. Nothing!
still need improvement on mobile version
I really like to use this on laptop, but for mobile, it’s difficult to use, not intuitive enough
Huge improvement. Great app
Below is my earlier, disappointed review of the app. I loved (and still love) Heptabase on a computer (it’s brilliant software) but the mobile app was a letdown. Well, the developers have put in some fantastic work, and have really made the app a proper mobile version of Heptabase. Top work! Now this is the app that Heptabase (and its users) always deserved. Great effort. Five stars. Heading: Needs a lot more work - and soon Text: I really like Heptabase (the fully fledged laptop version) but this app is poor on the iPhone. Look at the info for this app and you will see that it says the app will let you read all your info or access your whiteboards. Yes, that is technically true - but it is ALL that it lets you do. It is not possible on the iPhone to add new cards to a whiteboard, it is not possible to edit a whiteboard and it certainly isn’t possible to move or manipulate any cards on a whiteboard. Given that those things are what Heptabase is all about, that means the app is of very little use. Yes, you can read stuff and check it. But you can’t change or expand a whiteboard. A terrible shame, and it seriously hampers this app - which, to be frank, is no use to you if you want to use Heptabase seriously. The app designers need to put some hours in and get this sorted as soon as possible. It is holding back the whole Heptabase project. If users cannot work with the software when mobile with their phone, then it is not worth forking out for a subscription to Heptabase.
Daily Journal + Notion + Whiteboard
Love this app. Finally a daily journal style that allows me to write my most up to date thoughts, but also connect with previous data. I know I’m not maximizing the potential of this app, but just the journal + notion features does wonders for mental clarity/brain dumping. Cards are also helpful to create updates you can reference. Looking forward to the development over time. Thank you.

Core Sync Issues Undermine an Otherwise Great Tool
I've been a paying user of Heptabase for a while, but my recent experience has been quite frustrating. Frequent updates can be a good sign of an active development team, but in practice, Heptabase's constant updates sometimes cause more issues than they solve. If you don’t update, the mobile and desktop versions fall out of sync. But even after updating, core issues persist. For instance, after the latest update, no matter how many times I refreshed, logged out, or restarted, I simply couldn’t get the desktop app to sync with the latest notes from my mobile device. For a tool that positions itself around serious knowledge management, this kind of sync failure is a deal-breaker. Given the price point of the service, this level of instability is hard to justify. I genuinely hope the team can prioritize stability and core functionality over constant feature rollouts.
Like Notion With Mindmap
Phenomenal personal knowledge management platform. Notion is great for teams but for personal projects Heptabase wins due to it’s ability to “think in a graph”. I’ve been waiting for something like this for years. There’s real value here. It’s not just another notekeeping app.
Wanted to like this app
I was excited to try this app, but unfortunately, I couldn’t even get through the sign-up process without running into issues that made it impossible to sign up — let alone log in!”
iPad app is virtually useless
I love the Mac app and would love to move my workflow entirely to Heptabase from liquid text, but the I am unable to do so until I am capable of doing any real work on my iPad. The inability to edit the whiteboard or interact with pdfs in any meaningful way beyond reading on iPad, a form factor that lends itself so well to markup and spatial organization of notes, particularly when the Mac ui would lend itself so well to a touch interface, causes enough friction that Heptabase just isn’t viable at this point, what feels like a huge missed opportunity. I hope to see this functionality added in the future so I can actually rely on what is genuinely an amazing tool.
My second brain!
I’ve been using Heptabase desktop software for couple of months. It makes me happy with taking notes, helping me organize the info and develop a logical knowledge-net super efficiently when I am learning a new subject. The new mobile app is also great. I love the simple but efficient features for taking notes on the mobile and the seamless sync between the app and software.
Unable to sign up for trial from iPad 12.9
App won't let you sign in without an account. Can't sign up on iOS. Tried web and it's unable to continue when choosing between monthly or yearly billing. Nothing happens, unable to proceed.
BEST NOTES APP
I have tried many note-taking apps in the past. Started with Notability, then Agenda, tried Scrintal for a bit, then got into Notion (heavy), Obsidian came and went, and MiraNote was great for visual learning, but nothing really stuck…until Heptabase! It’s obvious to see I got sucked in to the shiny object syndrome when it came to choosing a notes app that worked for me. Why Heptabase stuck is because its easy to visualize what I’m trying to learn while also feeling free to capture everything that’s important to me. It’s just EASY. The learning curve is not too steep. And, I’m finding I’m retaining more of the information I research and write about. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive, one stop shop note taking app, you’ve found it. Would love to see more AI integration but otherwise I’m enjoying it! *I know it may sound like they paid me to write this, but promise you it’s just that good! TRUST.*
Does not Support PDF annotation on iPad?
There are tons of PKMs and many have whiteboard options. And many of those have iPad apps. PDF annotation is the main feature that differentiates them from competitors in PKM space but they aren’t prioritizing it for the iPad despite it being stated as what they are working on in their roadmap for a while now. iPads have styluses. That’s a large part of why people use them. Heptabase should have spent more time on the app before shipping it. It should at least have had their defining value proposition in it and then gone on the fix bugs.
Best app except one thing
Incredible app incredible service Remely fast updates. Four stars will change to five when the iOS apps will allow you to drag and re-order cards on the board. As of right now with the iOS apps, you could just make cards but you can’t place them same with the iPad apps. Otherwise, this is my favorite software.
