I can’t believe this is real. This is the whole game with TOB. ON MY PHONE!? I can’t stop playing this game when I turn it on my PC. I’m never stopping knowing it’s in my hand 247/7. Best rpg of all time top 3 video games of all time in my hand at all times. Thank you for this!
dead app no updates
this runs great on my old ipad . on new hardware the ui is hilariously tiny. please atleast update this gem to scale with new devices . also add purchase baring support across family thanks . get a version to work for ipad pros with the trackpad keyboard that would be sick . you could probably re-port it . i know bg3 players will start taking interest in this game .

When I go to the read the item description and tap on the red diamonds screen come up and I do know how to get it out
Recent update is wonky
Many of the sprites of buttons are worse and look blurry, select all button no longer works, tapping a portrait doesn’t select character nor does it let me go back to previous menu, please revert all that. I’m fighting the game now to actually play it
Good port but
It’s a good port but the resolution isn’t made for newer devices, so the screen doesn’t quite fit. Big black bars on the side which is a bit of a bummer. Same with on the first one, and Planescape. Doubt they’ll fix it too.

Useless on an iPhone
Menus are unreadably small, as are any help messages. They appear to have simply shrunk the pc screens to fit the phone.
Can’t enter Ust Natha
I killed the drow guards earlier. Adalon, the silver dragon changed me and my party into drow and we can’t enter Ust Natha. I looked on several forums. I asked on Reddit and this seems to be a bug. Please fix! Otherwise, great game
Limited
Limited avenues of play 1) While you have the option of being an evil character, the story and the primary NPCs revolve around being a good character. 2) You can only beat the game with specific party profiles - high-powered magic users and fighters. Your other character classes offer limited support and can actually become liabilities in combat situations.
Closing issues
Perhaps I am missing something, but I am really excited to play this game however can’t. Started plying but then item window’s will not close! I’ve tried clicking everywhere and nothing will close the item windows. Someone tell me what I am missing here?

Too many bugs
I have gotten very far on throne of bhal. Faced a glitch that wouldn’t let me continue. Same issue with black pitts. A lot of time wasted to not complete the game. That game was extremely fun until those issues

I have been playing for years. I have played the PC version and have recently started to mobile app version. I am having trouble playing Multiple player with my son because we can not connect to the same server. Help!!! How can I set it up so that he and I can adventure together?

Bug
Huge bug that prevent me from escaping the identification menu when i was wondering what type of shield i would be picking up. Couldn’t restart while saving my game and had to force quit the game and had me restarting fully my play... really upset.

Classic game, horribly buggy multiplayer
This is a classic RPG, one of the best of the old school (though, like all Black Isle RPGs, can be unfairly hard or unbalanced at times). Still, great interface, good story and a classic. Updating my review to remove the complaints about the multiplayer experience - it’s MUCH more stable now, disconnects are very rare and usually involve one of the players task switching or using the control panel for more than a moment. Still leaving off 1 star for some minor UI annoyances and some leftover frustrating elements of the original game design (enemies that require extremely specific counters, for example), not something Beamdog would be expected to “fix”. Overall, a fantastic updated version of a classic game, highly recommended!
My eyes hurt on the iPhone 13 pro max
I couldn’t make it through character creatation. As much as I love having these games on here this one cannot be played. It’s a small square on the phone. Civilization 6 does a better job. I gave one extra start bc I love the effort to bring it to mobile but it’s not there yet.
No X / XS / XS Max support
As good (or better) than the original, but I can’t stand playing it on my XS Max. The whole game is in a rectangle that takes up about 90% of the phones screen but isn’t even cantered. I’ve waited patiently for this support to be added, and won’t buy any more games in the series until it is.

Awful interface
Game unplayable. No way to select enemies or aim attacks. You have to pause to select options. End up dead just because the pause button is hard to activate. Spent 30 minutes creating a character which can’t ever be used. The view of action is so bad you have to read the text to very slowly figure out what happened.
Audio won’t work without headphones.
This game is really cool and interesting but I have experienced one technical problem. When I have headphones plugged in the audio works fine. However if the headphones aren’t plugged in there’s absolutely no sound, I’ve fiddled around with the options and found nothing. I am playing this on an iPad so maybe this needs to be updated for that?
Please update the resolution
The game doesn’t use the full screen on an iPhone 12. I guess this is no longer supported? Couldn’t play or read the text.
Great game with glaring bugs!
I had reached the fire giant boss, defeated him, and then his heart had disappeared because I clicked through the screen and it disappeared (never to be found again). Spent an hour and a half scouring the map in case I missed something- but no. It was just /gone/. Emailed the devs, received no response, so uninstalled game.
A treasure
One of the best games ever made with a flawless port. This is a must buy- the developer has done a sensational job. Thank you for this.
Buggy
I played to the end of the first dungeon. Opened a description window for a dire charm scroll. Suddenly enemy dialog and fighting is happening behind the window and there is no way to close the window. No x, no swipe, nothing. Just stuck in the scroll screen while everything is happening. All other functions are greyed out and unavailable. I have no idea what would have solved this problem but there were not a lot of options to try. I was forced to quit and I lost all the progress. 3 stars for a buggy port of a classic game.
How do you import a character from BG1?
I also have BG1 and I can’t import characters from BG1, the files don’t appear in the selection of BG2 (neither the BG2 ones appear in BG1)
So Many Bugs on IOS
Great games. Fantastic to see this in a port for iPad. However there are so many bugs still. I am completely frustrated with my game freezing up all the time or the Settings not working correctly targeting messed up etc. etc. if it was free I would not complain but I paid money for this. It should be finished. iPad 8th Gen. 🙁
Unsuitable for iPhone
Great game from my experience on the pc. However on an iPhone 6s Plus in my case it's far too small to be playable.
First game ever played
Proud to say this is the first game that 6 year old me ever played. And I find myself still playing to today. I could drag on about how great this game is or what not. But just know that all your favorite RPGs can be traced back to this series. 22 years old and truly revolutionary and as close to perfection as we can get to a RPG. 9/10

Love the Game. Played the PC version in the past and more recently the mac version. Happy to try iPad. Strange that sound only works with headphones. Why? Would get 5 stars but for that anomaly. Please fix / check. Sound works fine in other applications. I am on an iPad Pro.

GAMESTOPPING BUGS - READ
First of all this game is fantastic to play on the ipad air 2, it has not crashed on me even once, plays really smoothly and controls are easy and comfortable - this would easily have been a 5 star review if not for a bug that has stopped me from progressing... SPOILERS BELOW The first bug I encountered was Saemon Havarian vanishing after asking me to retrieve the horn for the ship. After reading up on it it turns out that if you leave the tavern before he does, he disappears. I did manage to work around this by going through the Underdark instead, but this is a coincidence really. Little did I know the same type of bug was about to stop me playing any further... When in the Drow city I did the quests up until Phaere asking us to betray the matron mother with the fake eggs. After taking this quest from Phaere, both her and the matron mother simply vanish like Saemon did earlier on. Once again the problem is that in an earlier encounter with the mother matron, I left the temple before she did and therefore she is now gone. As a result, I am stuck in the Drow city, as it is sealed and killing the matron mother is the only solution. I can't killer as she is not there! Somewhere on the internet someone suggested killing everyone in the city will let me leave but this is not the case and I have not left a single living soul there. So I paid the price for what is a fantastic game, but one that contains an unforgivable bug that is not letting me progress. I have no earlier save to use and having put over 20 hours into the game I do not want to start again. Be careful with those 2 bugs when playing.
Bug
My favorite game of all time. So glad to run through it again. I noticed what I think might be a bug. In ToB I am running a mage/thief. I have boots of haste which make me run fast. I just finished the flail of the ages and when I equip it my character slows down; as though I’m no longer wearing the boots. When I unequip the flail of ages I am back to normal speed. This doesn’t happen with any other weapon. Thank you for a great game, hope this can be fixed!

Can’t get a refund but I’m totally allowed to play this game that has bugs who destroy every play through I try to do. 1 star you greedy pricks
Good remake for the I pad but unforgivable bug
Played the original BG and BG2 on PC. This is a good remake. Not perfect, but considering I play it on an iPad Air, the commands and user controls are the best they can be considering. An unforgivable bug through: come on guys. Boo should squeak when you click on the image on him in minsc's inventory. He is one of the main reasons I re-purchased this game! It shouldn't crash the app!
Great game, but export issues
Love the gameplay but can’t export/import saved games to Dragonspear or BG2ee. Stinks having great characters but can’t play on. Using iPad so trying other ways to do file transfer but shouldn’t have to.
Crashes a lot
Purchased game a couple of weeks back and have played it a lot on the latest iPhone model and OS. Game has crashed several times on random occasions unfortunately. Hopefully the Devs will fix.
Wonderful
Many years ago I purchased this for my computer used for $5. My ex was beside herself upset because I’d never even played the first Baldurs Gate. I played the heck outta that game. I was so excited to see this ported over to iOS I gladly bought it several years ago and played the heck outta it again. Just as beautiful with all the wonderful effects, compelling story, and challenge. If this is your first ride, hold on. While it isn’t a 3d whirlwind world, it is a Dungeons & Dragons masterpiece that is likely to occupy much of my time yet again . . . and again . . . and again . . . .
Someone screwed up
This used to be playable, but it’s now almost impossible to manage the different characters during a fight. It won’t let you simply select which character you want to take an action using the character portraits on the right, and it won’t let you select who to even cast a spell on half the time. These are the worst gameplay changes I’ve ever seen.
The import option doesn't work.
I like this game. However I can't import my character from the original game. There are ways around the problem (you need a PC/Mac to do it). Given the cost of the game you would think the developer would have sorted this issue out.

Can’t finish game because bugged at very end challenge. Please fix bugs and make this a great game.
Wonderful nostalgia but buggy.
Great to see and play one of my favourite games, but couple of game bugs that need sorting. Aerie quest chain, werewolves are bugged and one hit you, and you can't click on Boo! Or the game crashes....
Impressive port, fun game
If you had told me 8 years ago when I first played through the EE editions of this game on PC that I’d enjoy them more on an iPad I would have called you crazy and laughed. I am surprised how much more I enjoy these on the iPad compared with my PC. As text heavy games doing the reading on the iPad is very comfortable. I also felt more connected to my party and NPCs compared to using a traditional mouse and keyboard. I’ve played the entirety of the main game Shadows of Amn and haven’t quite finished Throne of Bhaal on the iPad, yet. The long press can be annoying at times but usually works. Sometimes in combat it can be difficult to know for sure if you have the intended enemy selected, you have to learn to tap the “feet” of anyone you want to talk with or attack. These are minor gripes and in no way inhibiting from the enjoyment of playing this classic on iPad. I had one bug I don’t remember on PC, for the Skinner Murder’s in the Bridge District, I tried speaking with the tanner before I took the evidence to the chief guard. Afterwards I went to the chief guard and gave him the evidence and he ran off, however when I go back to the tanner shop the tanner is there and I am unable to initiate conversation or do anything else. I can attack but he is unkillable and never turns red. Only bug and broken quest I experienced and not in any way breaking. And I did a lot of the companion side quests etc. If you’re new to these types of games I would recommend starting with the Baldur’s Gate EE and also finding a guide online to help build your character.
Thought it would be turned based combat
I played BG3 and thought this would be a fun game on my iPad. Unfortunately the combat is chaotic and you have to pause the game, then select actions on each character but you can’t move the characters to be able to select enemies. I wish they would’ve stated that on the game and am unable to get a refund per Apple even after purchasing this less than 24 hours ago. Not happy with Apple or this game, so 1 star!
Buying and selling headache
Scrolling whilst buying and selling is ridiculously fast fix that and it's a glorious game. Huge amount of game play. Very entertaining.
Throne of Bhaal bug
Can’t initiate contact with any NPCs. . .real drag since story is 3/5ths of why I like this game. Can’t change party members can’t talk to the “butler” to combine items. . .unless convo is initiated automatically your quest is broken. . .if you can even initiate it.
Wait for patch
Very buggy. The aerie quest is impossible since the werewolves kill in one shot. Also after 4hrs of gameplay all saves where lost.
