Avoid wasting money on junk
They don’t test all products, but the ones they do I have had good luck with, I care about quality and CR helps me avoid paying for junk
Electric skillets
I just downloaded this app.to check on electric skillets and I had to chat with AI. It told me they never tested electric skillets. REALLY??? That’s all I wanted to know about at this time. Forget this app.
Small bug
When filtering for items at any price between $1000-$1999 the amount drops down to $1. I was searching for dishwashers if that helps
Love CR
After the new update to fix bugs, I now have bugs. Cannot get a full screen or search for topics.
Good, but...
It's great to have the ability to access CR easily and quickly in a store. However, the filters for most categories I've looked at recently are useless. I don't care about the brand of air conditioner, but I do care about how quiet an air conditioner is and how energy efficient it is. Give us useful filters!
I use it for everything
There are lots of products on the market, claiming to be the best… it’s important to do your research, and it only takes a minute with the app… from blenders to sound bars.. and recently my pillow It’s worth every penny
App no longer works
After the latest update, the app no longer works, all I get is an error message “IAP initConnection returned false”. Tried emailing, but all I received was a generic response that didn’t help.
Need iPad version!!!
I love the app on the iPhone, but it DEFINITELY needs an iPad version in portrait and landscape modes. Please, please make an iPad version.
Less Content Than Website
Why does the Consumer Reports iPhone app not contain all of the daily news articles that are emailed to me? Seems like the app only contains a small portion of the content available on the website.
Menu Problem
When scrolling the “All Products A-Z” menu on my newer iPhone 16e if it’s done quickly or when nearing the bottom of the list, the list starts jumping around and getting scrambled. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and re-starting my phone. I think it’s version 5.10.
Independent Reviews & Expert Advice
Consumer reports is my go to for Independent Reviews & Expert Advice with articles which inform on factors worth considering before making a purchase.
The updated release on 08/20/26 crashes on the app launch splash screen….
The updated release on 08/20/26 crashes on the app launch splash screen….
4 Stars for One Reason
And that reason is their outdated app, very inefficient navigation and search bar needs lots of work to come up to a modern standard. Also, you can’t copy text from the app, if you want to check prices on other stores. Apart from that, CR is my go to for product reviews and testing.
No Article Access
The iOS app does not support article access. Odd & unfortunate.
Error Message
I get a floating block with the words “ERROR An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again” every time I open and the app . I just noticed that it also appears when I try to build and price a car ; the screen then stays blank after the error message wanders off. Please fix
Useful Information
I sell appliances and Consumer Reports is a great way to show my customers some tangible information and ratings of the best buys. Thank you
Garbage!!
I paid money for this app and it does not list most of the items I need info on. Please don't waste your money on this scam of an app!!!!
Déçu
Ne répond pas aux normes du iPad quand à s’ajuster à la grandeur de l’affichage ...
No iPad version
There is no true iPad version of this app, that uses the full iPad screen. It just shows you a mini iPhone screen with a lot of wasted space around it. There’s no excuse for that.
No app for iPad
I love consumer reports have used it for many decades decision on buying just about anything that they review it was very happy with this issues I made based on this information go out. I got the first OK. Since I am a senior, I prefer to be able to use the app on my iPad, but I can’t use the app and be able on the iPad because this may put the iPhone which I also app but it’s just easier to read so perhaps they will in the very near future make it available on iPad. I can also always go to the website, but I kinda like to have it, my iPad
Go To Source
This is my prime source of info before I order anything. Well worth the cost of subscription.
Hasn’t worked in months
I’ve been paying for consumer reports for about a decade. I don’t use it all the time. It’s clutch when shopping for appliances or a used car. Now my dad needs hearing aids and his buddy spent $3k on some and they don’t even work, so naturally I go to open the CR app and “something went wrong” atop a white screen is all I get. This has been the case for months. Never seen an app fail like this for this long. I’m starting to wonder if Consumer Reports is failing as an organization. Might be just another case of greedy c suite management bleeding the organization dry.
Great source of information
Great source of information and recommendations only wish they have more departments
Very limited
Not very robust when looking for reviews. I usually have to go to their web portal to find what I’m looking for.
Separate hybrids from EVs
As there are so many different hybrids and EVs, can you please separate them under categories so I don’t have to wade through one to look at the other. Thanks!
Use CR all the time
The only downside is some products and codes aren’t available in Canada All prices are in US dollars
The website works but not the app
No matter how many times I load and delete the app it tells me that my password is wrong even though the website accepts the password. The app simply does not work.
Last update killed the app
Opening the app all I get is a threes screen ad(?) and no actual content. Please fix.
Not user friendly
You need to make your app more stream lined and user friendly. It’s not like it’s free. We are paying for this service. It’s in poor form, Consumer Reports. I’m disappointed in you.
Best advice you can get
I am a long-time member of CU going back to the print-only days. We consult their advice before making any important purchase. They have never let us down. My only wish is that the Canadian content would be restored.
Get paid commissions
Consumer Reports AI denied that they received commissions until I went into their details and found it and cut pasted it and then their AI admitted it. Used to play on words. Then kept saying, but that doesn’t affect any of their reviews. This is the third or fourth time I’ve tried to post a review
Website is infinitely better and easier
Using the CR website in a browser is infinitely more helpful and easier to use. App only gives you the name and picture of a product and makes you go on a mining adventure to get more information. Certain details only seem to be available on the website. If you misspell a product name, the app throws up a persistent AskCR window that won't go away until you spell the name properly. Easier to close the app. Extremely frustrating. Two stars for the app not crashing
iPad
Does not take advantage of IPad screen. Is made for phone.
Unbiased reviews
Trusted source. Don’t have to rely on so called star reviews on sites which are often paid or subject to negative troll attacks
Lost all credibility
Popups for Amazon prime deals, why pay for biased content… gross
Not recommended
I signed up for CR to research cars, but there are way more ways to search and compare models on the CR website. But the website is also lacking, so I find myself switching back and forth between the app and website to get the info I need. Frustrating. The app is geared toward new cars, so searching for info on used cars or legacy reviews is almost impossible on the app. Overall just not satisfied with how CR presents information.
Usually great
Usually great, but the car section is blank now - nothing loads in the app...
Way too expensive for my needs.
Would like to be able to access this once in a blue moon. Might subscribe for $10/yr but not $10/month. I guess if you buy a lot of items it would be worth it. I’m just going to find someone who subscribes to the Magazine & borrow it. App looks great though.
Upgrade keeps crashing
Keep getting a “something went wrong” message every time I open the app after the last upgrade.
It’s okay on iPhone, broken on iPad Pro
When launching the Consumer Reports app on my M4 iPad Pro, all it does is display a 3-panel “intro screen”, nothing else.
Basic function and info
Website has way more info than the app. Very disappointed in its simplicity, Altho it works well enough. I’d like more comparison and sorting features in the ratings like in your magazine. I don’t mind scrolling around to see the comparison.
My go to for before buying
While I don’t always completely agree with all their ratings, I always look up their opinions and ratings on things I’m in the market to buy. They are very good at weeding out the stuff NOT to buy and then their reviews give me a range to compare and compromise on. Love the objectivity and unbiased reports
A Mediocre app has gotten worse
I’ve been a subscriber for years. This app used to be somewhat useful in comparing products. Now it is not worth looking at. The website is gotten worse as well but with a little effort some good information can still be gleaned.
Useless
Website has tons of great info and using the app there is a single screen of standard info you could find anywhere.
Car buying guide
Miss the detail and hindsight of the car buying guide. Most people are not in a position to buy brand new cars and the info on used cars would be much more useful for them than the new cars. Also not as much useful info now that it’s been rolled into the main ratings app. Please bring back the previous years models ratings.
