È una bellissima applicazione molto ricca di informazioni, ma all’apertura la geolocalizzazione non funziona e devo cercarla io per trovare il mio territorio (Italia). Inoltre le durate dei voli sono sempre completamente sbagliate. Insomma, occorrono diversi aggiornamenti per renderla sempre più performante al pari di altre applicazioni di flight tracking. App freezes all the time
This app is pretty useless as it freezes all the times. You have to close it completely, restart and pray that it will work for a few minutes...

Unusable and no support
I have an old paper version that I found useful (I am an Airline pilot) so I decided to give the electronic one a go. I went as far as purchasing one area (14$) to evaluate the product. Maps don’t download, I went on the website and emailed the Company but, after more than a week, got no reply. So far it’s a totally negative experience
Overall a great app with small additions needed
Firstly there is no doubt that this is a fantastic app and a useful tool which I have had much use out of! Very detailed maps, just looks great too. I would suggest a couple of additions which would help improve the app further: • There are a few waypoints missing around the globe which requires manual insertion for your route/trip, it would be great if your manually inserted waypoints were saved to a database which could then be used for other routes/trips without having to manually add the same waypoint again for each trip you create. • Crossing 180W/E is a problem, it would be a lot better if the map was more fluid and you had the ability to scroll freely past this point. It would also more accurately represent the flight path. Otherwise a great app which I will continue to use in the foreseeable future.

I bought this app few years ago. It was sold as a one time purchase. Now it seems like my money wasn’t enough. Suddently I’m “offered” to pay again. My previous purchase seems to have disappeared.

Save your money. It’s really expensive and offers very little. Not very user friendly, in fact not much to say other than other apps are far better.

I am a Boeing 777 captain for an international carrier an decided to try out this app after searching for a good, comprehensive, in-flight addition to my iPad navigation apps. I combine it with a Bad Elf GPS PRO standalone receiver and it is just as incredibly accurate as the 777's on-board GPS's. Of course it's not used for navigation but it's accuracy is certainly capable in case of emergency. It raises "situational awareness" (SA) immense which is useful for any pilot or even non-pilot/aviation enthusiast" out there. I used it for the first time on a long haul flight from Amsterdam to Hong Kong - was able to input the entire route and plot all the waypoints with pin-point accuracy. Unfortunately you have to type individual waypoint names and as was mentioned already, no airways are capable of being loaded so waypoint entry takes time. Hope that changes. Good terrain awareness features, good data for enroute airports. Map doesn't "move" with you as you fly along like a car GPS so you must scroll-swipe across with your finger if you go off the edge of the map - but not an issue as there is a "present-position" button icon you can press to slew yourself to the center of your screen wherever you are. Plenty of filters to clutter/de-clutter as you wish. With continuous improvements this will be the app to beat. Very happy and money well worth spent just for the increased "SA." I bought the whole world and excited to travel with it. To the previous reviewer who couldn't view the active waypoints - I too thought I had this problem but figured it out serendipitously - just "double-tap" a waypoint on the active route with your finger and all the waypoint names appear. Double-tap again to turn off! Useful on a long flight with a lot of waypoints.
Doesn't work one the iPad Pro.
Been using this app for a while and while it's not the most Unser friendly at least it worked. Having just picked up an iPad Pro I'm sad to report that the app won't even download on the iPad. Not sure why but as far as I'm concerned it's bad compatibility, bad support and a bad app.

Absolutely useless. Every time I try to use in the air it doesn't let me use the content I paid for. Asking me to log on again. I can do that when I'm on the ground again. But I work in an airline flying to every continent and long flights. So to me it's useless. I regret buying it. And with the amount spend on the in app purchases you should think they would reply to support questions. I wrote 3 times the last months. Zero replies. Absolutely waste of money

Paper version has a lot more geographic data
I miss lots of the info about rivers, mountain peaks, gulfs, etc. that the paper version has, but the app lacks. I would love to see that info too, and then I’ll pay the high price of the new maps. Keeps getting better
I cannot recommend this app enough. I had every edition of Absolute's paper Pilot Atlases and they were great. This digital version is awesome and keeps getting better. Just found out I can even draw circles around airports so one can show adequate and ETOPS limits. You can put in ETPs etc. Brilliant. It also has lots of good database info-airports, navaids, mountains, POIs etc. Purchasing the whole world in HD seems pricey at first but I think, well worth it. The paper ones, as I remember, were around £25 and that was for either the U.S., or the rest of the world which was expanding with each new addition but was not the rest of the world. If like me you had both, it was £50 anyway, which is roughly the same as this app and now you really do have the whole world and can do so much more. It is becoming a really useful tool. The Captains Corner is a little fidgety in that there are now ICONS for each topic or item instead of turning pages but some of these are mini apps- conversions, fuel uplift, gradient calculator. In short, lots of good stuff as in the paper version but even more. The only thing that seems to have gone missing is the holding info but maybe I have not found it. A basic political map in the Captain's corner similar to the one at the beginning of the paper one would still be useful for "routing over" PA's. Would thoroughly recommend. Not very useful when in airplane mode
Can't zoom beyond 1-1/2 inch= 560 miles. Can't see any terrain detail features to use as point of interest. Useless airborne. Bought the North America map pack. Worthless. No tutorial.

Cannot zoom in enough.
While using in offline mode (while flying), you cannot zoom in enough to get any detail - which makes the map portion of the app useless. Paid for maps - but they are useless in the air for reference. The other features are available free in other apps. Don't waste your money unless you have internet in the air.
Still loses all my purchases
Despite updating this app and claimed bug fixes, I still have to re-download over 24gb of maps just to use the blasted thing. Used to be really good, but now it’s just frustrating

Great new features in ver. 2.0 and will only get better with pilot feedback which has been keenly taken note of thus far. Sure beats carrying the atlas around and turning many pages on long trips. Lots of quick and useful reference in captain's corners. Must have in your EFB!
Not able to download maps!
When decided to reinstall app after problems with downloading maps, not able. It shows connecting and download does not start.
Metric elevations and few mountains. Bummer.
There are few landmark mountains listed and those that are are in meters. Other than that the rivers and roads are labeled nicely and there are nice shortcut math features and calculators. Standard elevations and more landmarks would be nice in offline map.
Not impressed
Lack of functionality. Over priced. Lack of political maps for PA. Poor ability to draw route. It's worth about a third of the price.
Almost there
Would have rated higher if I was able to center the map in the centre of the South Pacific. Currently I have to scroll from right to left to see some of the islands in the pacific.
Just what the doctor ordered
Ipad version finally here. Very good No more dragging paper maps around. Fairly fast and responsive even on my ipad 2. Way more responsive than any other downloadable maps I've ever seen for ipad.
Cannot download maps
I cannot download SD and HD maps as promissed. Emailed twice trying to solve the problem without reply. I wish I had my money back.
Ansatz gut, aber noch viel Spielraum für Verbesserungen
Nachdem ich die App einige Wochen an Bord im Interkontinentalverkehr nutzte, habe ich sie wieder von meinem iPad verbannt, da sie nicht wirklich zufriedenstellend nutzbar war. Die Entwickler liefern aber erfreulicherweise ein Update nach dem anderen, so dass ich der App erneut eine Chance geben wollte. Die neuen HD Maps bieten immer noch keine zusätzliche Information, ihr Nutzen ist immer noch fraglich. Die App selbst wurde aber deutlich überarbeitet. Die Bedienung ist um einiges flüssiger geworden und vor allem die seltsame Helligkeitssteuerung wurde korrigiert. Gut so! Auch das Feature, nur Airports mit einer Mindestbahnlänge anzuzeigen, ist sehr nützlich. Wenn man jetzt noch zusätzlich andere Kriterien angeben könnte (asphaltiert, Fire Fighting Category, ...), wäre diese Funktion perfekt. Trotzdem ist noch nicht alles gut: - Nach wie vor gibt es viel zu wenig "touristische" Information (Gebirge, Täler, Landstriche), der Nutzen für vernünftige Ansagen ist immer noch mager. Aber genau DAFÜR würde ich den Pilot's Atlas brauchen. - Die Beschriftung von Flüßen, Städten und Gebirgen existiert üblicherweise nur in jeweiliger Landessprache (samt zugehöriger Schriftzeichen). Wünschenswert und viel praxisnäher wäre eine durchgehende englische Beschriftung (und idealerweise einer zweiten wählbaren Sprache) für Bordansagen. - Beschriftung in den Karten ist immer noch teilweise unleserlich klein. - Die Kartendarstellung ist teilweise arg zäh beim Zoomen und Scrollen (trotz iPad 3). Eine Optimierung täte m.E. Not. Es tut sich etwas. Zwar gibt es immer noch reichlich Ecken und Kanten, der Preis der Karten ist nach wie vor happig (die Breitling Werbeeinblendungen bei dem Preis dann tatsächlich eine Frechheit), aber die Entwickler scheinen sich tatsächlich Mühe zu geben, aus der App eine brauchbare Sache zu machen. Die kontinuierlichen Verbesserungen würdige ich mit einem zusätzlichen Stern. Bitte nicht nachlassen, Pilots Atlas könnte dann tatsächlich das versprochene Tool werden!
Definitely needs work
It's a work in progress but at $28 just for North America it's a total rip off. The zoom is lacking and the detail is very very sparse. Also, the labeling of highways, rivers, etc could be better. Hold off until they either address this or you find a more detailed offline atlas
Good start but database improvements much needed.
The app is a good tool for anyone wanting to gain better route awareness from GA to the airlines. The tools included are useful and the layout is friendly and allows for a smooth user experience. The 3 levels of customisable layers are helpful. The FIR boundaries are brilliant. One major drawback though is the lack of proper database which becomes evident on a long haul flight or flights in some eastern countries (Russia/Kazaksta/China). Also lacking is the ability to type some coordinates easily (i.e. the app should recognise the N41E065 format). This app would be a definite 5 if these few points were corrected!
Average
This App has Great potential. Be aware though that it does not include airways which is surprising. Also until zoom is used enroute waypoints do not appear. Building user routes from flight plans is a tedious time consuming affair. User friendliness needs to be addressed.
Do not BUY
I have a paper copy of this app and they are not the same. There are no points of interest on this program! Airline pilots beware!!! This is an awful Captains Atlas. There are other, much better programs out there if you are looking for navigation software.
Great App
A very useful App for long haul pilots.
No good for polar flights
1. Went to use this App for a B777 polar flight from EWR-PEK, and it will not allow flight planning above 85 degrees N latitude. 2. Sent message to developer asking for polar capability, but developer did not respond (poor customer service). 3. I have requested a refund through the iTunes Store.
Super App für Piloten und Avgeeks
*** ein Stern abzug, da ich fast jede Woche ein Update der Größe 650 Mb machen soll *** Ich selber fliege fast täglich über Europa und bin ständig daran interessiert, welcher WAYPOINT wo genau liegt. Da kommt diese App genau richtig. Man kann Routen einplanen, es gibt eine Captains corner für Umrechnungen und nützliches Wissen und detailreiche Karten. Einen Stern abzug, da ich mir wünschen würde noch näher ranzoomen zu können, um auch Flüsse und kleinere Städte sehen zu können.

Poor implementation
The basic mapping feature is useless, unable to zoom in offline to anything usable. Purchased the North America detailed "HD" map, and will not install properly - so far a waste of $28. Don't spend money on anything until the developer repairs the problem.
Could do with major improvement
Zoom level need to be closer, nowhere near enough detail. Few names for cities and features. Missing lots of small island names. Perth Australia is not in Southern China. Must have facility to bring up or at least plan via airways. Font is too small, should have a option to increase font size. Way too expensive for what you get. It's one thing charging $28 usd for a book, but an iPad version should only be $10 max. Not worth it for the money. Has great potential if European pricing level reduced to a reasonable level and the above issues are addressed.
A good start - but unreliable data and unfinished appearance
I guess this is still a beta app - it could end up very good but needs a lot more work before it is finished. Firstly, the data is not accurate. I bought the app for route planning of unscheduled flights around Africa, so I need to see at a glance on the map which airports have customs facilities (i.e. are international airports). Unfortunately, many international airports are listed as “regional” so do not show up when the airport filter is applied - e.g. Abidjan, Niamey, Ouagadougou, N’Djamena, Lome, Roberts, and many more are coded as “Regional” airports. The authors need to sort this out! There are also annoying bugs - e.g. the results of the leg-length calculator are unreadable as the field is filled with spurious text which obscures the result. There are also a lot of “Germanik” spelling mistakes which give the app an unfinished and unprofessional look - e.g. “Afrika”, “Antarctika”, “Kerosine”. I would not complain so much if it was a cheap app - but at the price I would expect much better attention to detail.

Needs improvement
Having used the excellent paper version of Pilots Atlas in the past, I must admit that I'm somewhat disappointed with the app version. As an airline pilot flying long haul on the B744, I enjoy bing able to identify landmarks and other items of interest when flying over them as the maps we use on the aircraft are not designed to show ground features. I have just tried out the app on a flight from London to San Francisco and I found it extremely frustrating to use the app on my iPad mini which accompanies me on all trips. The number one complaint being the text size on the map, especially when zooming in, remains miniscule and almost impossible to read for an old codger like me. Whilst I understand that the app is aimed at all levels of pilot, for me, it was disappointing because I could not read the text on the map and by the time I had managed to do so the location was far behind me and not visible anymore. Also, when entering a route, it does not plot the course as a great circle but rather as a rhumb line which is not strictly useable as a guide. Trying to construct a long haul route using the waypoints as published on our flight plans and in our Flight Management Computer (FMC) database is impossible. For example, when flying over some of the great Canadian wastes, there are some landmarks that we want to identify but our position is only referenced by lat/long. The method of entering the lat long in the app is cumbersome using the spinning wheels. It would be much better to just enter coordinates in NSEW which we can take directly from the FMC. Also, if the waypoint is only a lat/long reference, there seems to be no way to actually enter it as a temporary waypoint in the route. The route only accepts waypoints already in the database. For example, if one of our waypoints is N60 W070, we can enter that simply as 6070N and that is an accessible waypoint. There's no published waypoint in the database or any nav aid but it is still a waypoint that should be able to be referenced in a map application. On a paper map, I'd be able to find that point and mark it if necessary. Anyway, the app has the potential to be very good for all pilots who have an interest about the terrain they're flying over. The number one concern is to have the text on the map scale up as one zooms in so that you are not left squinting or searching for a magnifying glass to read the map. Enhancing the way locations can be entered as lat/long is also desirable. Being able to save those manually entered waypoints would be even better. So, overall, nice try but room for improvement.
Not the Same
I really like the absolute Zero atlas. The App. Version is NOT as good as the paper version. Different colors for the maps, different symbols, less details. You can't zoom in detail. A lot of things have to be adjusted to give the user the same feeling as he is using the paper version. Also the drop down menus are not the best why to use the App. Symbols like waypoints etc Must have a button to be deselected/selected in the main window. Just like when you are using Lido maps. And the Price is twice as much!!! If they fix the problems it will be a nice App.
