As of late when I have tried to use it, when I press “Merge Calls” nothing happens.
Can’t merge
Can you please update your app??!! This app was my go to. I used it every day. Now I can no longer merge calls. It is worthless. I have to find a new app
Automatic Merge Function Missing
While I love this App, I’m giving it 4 Stars because it’s missing the automatic Merge Button function that the non-Pro TapeACall App offers! TapeACall Developers- why wouldn’t you offer this function in the Pro version of the App? We’re paying more in the Pro version for ease-of-use.

Honorable
They sold me a lifetime subscription and I jumped to conclusions and gave them a bad review after they had an update. They fixed it and honored the deal. They’re great and very responsive. I had this app for 13~ years.

This app is more expensive than phone service. It used to be 69 / year. Now it’s 9.99 a week. Criminal pricing. Boooo!
Great quality recording
I bought the pro app minutes before an incoming conference call. The quality of the voice recording was exceptionally good, and it was good even though I was sharing my iPhone on speaker with another participant in the call. However, the initial merge of TapeACall into the call took several seconds during which I missed some of the conversation. The transcription did not clearly separate the speakers, but from this experience, I realize that I should identify myself as soon as I start speaking. An automatic merge would give it 5 stars.
Puts the caller on hold
It doesn’t just record your calls, there’s a timely process after answering. So the most important part of the call, name, company, etc gets missed, also puts your call on hold while merging so the caller hangs up anyway. Mega pointless. Dont get the paid version…
It works well most of the time
It usually works well, but once in a while, the recording just doesn’t work. Last time, the company told me there were « issue with the carrier at the time of your call ». It really gets me in trouble. Besides that, there is no more option to slow down the conversation when you listen to the phone calls. That is too bad.
Very simple to set recording inbound and outbound calls.
This app allows me to record my calls quickly with very few screen taps. Best record a call app I have used. This is the app you want. Don’t waste time trying the other app.
Lost everything. No support. Avoid.
After using this app for over 10 years, I cannot sign back in and there is zero support outside of an AI machine. I will be looking for another app. Lost everything. Backing up is also extremely tedious. Avoid.
Missing features
I would give this a 5-star. But exporting recordings is extremely difficult. I have hundreds of recordings and I can not do a bulk export. This is a feature many users have complained about, and not sure why this hasn’t been done yet.
Expensive & not user friendly
Too expensive. 7.99 a WEEK? That’s almost 400 a year for an app that isn’t user friendly. They removed feature to start recording before calling and to DL your calls you have to go through one by one to transfer. No mass exodus feature. Not worth the money or time.

I highly recommend this app. Very simple but extremely effective.
⚠️BUYER BEWARE!
I paid a one-time fee they offered (which was a lot) when I purchased the “PRO” version of this app. However, when I try to open and use it lately, it’s requiring that I purchase an ADDITIONAL subscription to be able to use/access the app… which I’ve already paid for! This is fraud – plain and simple. If you enjoy supporting businesses that scam people, this is the app for you. If not, I’d stay very far away. And it appears I’m not alone as loads of other reviewers are reporting the exact same thing. I’m beginning to lose trust in some of these developers and in the Apple App Store as a whole.💔
Good but update messed it up
This needs to be changed back to the previous way of recorder outgoing calls. The new way results in a long silence time in the recording before actually hearing the call. Also when you do merge the calls, it makes the call pause for about three seconds which messes up starting the call which is the most important part of a cold call. It does still record well but please turn that back!
Can no longer open and cannot get support
I have loved this app but it will no longer open for me - I deleted and reinstalled and it still won’t open - I lost several years worth of important recordings and am unable to get help from their website - At this point I want a refund

Great app, would love to see…
I’ve had this app since it originally came out. I have phone calls saved with family that is no longer with us. Their support was fast and super helpful when my subscription was glitched and got rid of all my old recordings. I was able to get everything back. I am lucky to have their “lifetime” plan. I still use it occasionally but mostly it’s for memories of loved ones who have passed away. One thing I wish was an optional setting was the ability to turn on beeping intervals throughout the call.
No recordings and no response
All of my recordings are "empty," showing no waveform and no file. I have used the app to report this to customer service multiple times, and have never received a response. This app and its support structure have proven to be utterly useless.

Often disconnects
Useful and easy to use app but it often disconnects, sometimes mid phone call. Sometimes the calls don’t merge properly and I hang up to find I have an audio track of silence. I’ve also ended a call to find no audio recording at all despite merging, which makes my job extremely difficult
Cording great, transcribing not so much
I’ve used this app a bunch of times to record calls and once you get the hang of merging its excellent. I’ve tried to transcribe two recordings, though, and it only seems to do about 30 seconds of each before stopping. There’s no way to do it over so I’m stuck typing out the interview anyway, which is a disappointment. I’m leaving this review here because there’s also no way for me to get support otherwise. Bit of a fail on that end.
Long-term user dissatisfied
I’ve been a loyal TapeACall user for over four years now. While the app hasn’t undergone many significant changes, it remains one of the most stable I’ve used. However, the annual price increase, which doesn’t justify the improvements, is a major downside. The primary reason for my low rating is the lack of easy access or download of all my recordings. There used to be a web portal that facilitated this, but it no longer works for me. Since I opted not to renew my subscription, I’ve lost access to all my recordings that weren’t downloaded.
Paid for App That Doesn’t Work in My Country – Requesting Full Refund
I paid $10 for this app, but after payment I found that it does not support my country (Iraq). This issue was not mentioned before purchase, and the app is completely unusable here. Perfect for all journalists
Super helpful app for recording calls. Recently I’ve been using it more and more and it’s so helpful. There’s a little tutorial on how to record incoming and outgoing calls which is very helpful and you’re able to easily rename recordings, speed them up or slow them down, jump 15 seconds up or down in the recording and share them out. I would just love if I could use this app to record all my interviews, not just over the phone!
Disconnects call
I’ve used this app multiple times for very important interviews. The first time it worked really well. The second and third time I used this app, the call would drop after about 10 minutes. I would redial and connect and the call would drop again after 10 minutes, despite having good cell service and trying different locations. The interruptions were annoying and completely disrupted the flow of the interview. Thankfully, the third time I used this app, I had the apple voice memo app open as backup.

Just got a $170 phone bill for using the app
The new owners raised their price to $130 a year but that’s nothing compared to the $170 bill you’ll get from ATT for an international call while trying to record a half hour phone call with someone from your town. Avoid like the plague. Used to be good, know it’s just a money trap.

Transcription service is useless
I have been using the app to record interviews for a few years now. I was excited about the new user pay transcription service but it is absolutely useless. It is not even worth working from the transcription and correcting the errors because it is so full of mistakes. Cancelled this on the same day after checking a few interviews.
Recording is fine but transcript doesn’t work
Recording is ok but when you make a transcript it does not make any sense and has nothing to do with your conversation unfortunately not worth the monthly payment for transcript
Subscription issue after update resolved by support
Had an issue after updating my iPhone and the app now requiring a subscription. Have had this app since 2014, before the subscription model was added. Emailed support with my phone number and they were able to restore access in less than a week.
Previous purchase no longer recognized?!?!? Please help
I purchased this app a year ago but since then they changed to a subscription business model. Now I no longer have access to the app and it says they can’t find my purchase. My previous purchase still shows in my apple AppStore purchase history but they still won’t give me access anymore. If my issue is resolved I will reconsider my 1 star review.
Very good
Very good app. I was using it wrong initially, but as soon as I figured it out - wow - works great. It’s a bit of a pain having to switch apps - call another number - merge calls etc.. All while the recipient of the call is waiting, but apart from that, it works great!
Recording function is great, Transcribing function is appalling
In-app subscription to transcribing function sounded excellent and given the quality of the recording function, I thought I’d subscribe to the Transcribing function too. Unfortunately, the transcribing function is pathetic. Nonsensical jibberish! Don’t waste your money on this add-on.

Change of service
I’ve had TapeACall for over four years. I paid for the premium service and at the time it was a one time payment. I tried logging in today and I’m being asked for a subscription fee. I don’t understand why they would change the condition of my subscription after I’ve been with them for so many years. What they should do is charge new subscribers with an annual fee but grandfather older members with the initial one time payment they offered.
Used to be good.
I’ve had this app for years. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don’t so that iPhone offload it sometimes. I want to reinstall the app today. And try to restore. Because I bought this paid version years ago. Now it is telling me that I have to pay a subscription to use it per year. When in the past, it would always work. I do not recommend this app. I would say go with somebody else, who is cheaper if you have to pay subscription. I got this five stars years ago. Now I’m giving you a one star. It is unfortunate that the company have moved to this model. I will never deal or buy any software that they create again.

Price went high
I like this app and used it for a year. I was going to renew it but the price went up from $14 to $28 unexpectedly. And lost all my recordings. Happy to renew if I get that price back.

After the changes in the app it no longer functions properly. I have been using this app since it came out. I went to the Apple forums and this seems to be a problem. Calls will not merge.
Great app!!
Admittedly I had to grab my wife’s phone and play around with it a bit to learn how to use it... Once you understand how to add and merge you will be most happy with your purchase. Thanks for this app developers - I can only offer 4 stars though because it isn’t simple enough for the likes of my dad. Word to potential buyers - this app works, anyone who says it doesn’t is likely in the ‘my dad’ category.
