What people like
- Tracks maintenance for free
- Alerts when service is due
- Easy to record services
What they complain about
- Can't fix wrong mileage entries
- Logs you out constantly
- Hard to add self-service tasks
The best tracker
It’s really nice to keep the maintenance tracked
Made for car dealers
This “service” doesn’t allow for any input from owners regarding defective vehicles. Defect issues cannot be entered into vehicle history. It is a service for manufacturers and dealers!
Canadian Version and no support for snow tires???
When I opened the app tonight it informed me that I am using the Canadian version of the app. And yet, when I wanted to add snow tires, there was no way to do this. Not very Canadian.
Needs more features
Lets you track oil changes, brake inspections and tire rotations. Thats it… there should be an option to include things in there. Transmission fluid, diff fluid, brake fluid, wipers, brake pads front/rear, cabin and engine air filters and so on. Carfax managed to squeeze in some cars for sale ads, and not the features one would actually use.
ugh
going to delete this app if you continue to log me out randomly
Easy way to track service reports
Enjoying how easy it is to record services
Good until it wasn’t
I’ve been using this app for several years now and absolutely loved it, until this recent update and it deleted everything in my account (all my cars, notes) everything! I’m not sure if I wanna start over again or not. I’ve done a lot of repairs myself and made notes in the app so I knew exactly when things were done, but since this recent update, all my stuff is gone. Not too happy with this and will probably be looking for a different app to keep track of everything, along with writing things down.
Good overall for keeping track of your cars if you are a DIYer
I do all of my own maintenance. The only reason my car goes to a shop is for the annual state inspection. Great app to keep track of everything and have a record when it’s time to sell. Would have given 5 stars but some of the items in the reminder services will not let you select self service and forces you to choose a shop. Not sure how to fix that but I have to ignore the reminder then add those services manually. If this gets fixed then definitely a 5 star review from me.
Logs out each time app is closed
The app overall works, but it logs you out each time it’s used. I have to re log in with google account. It’s been happening for 2+ months. I emailed support, they elevated the ticket & it still is not fixed. That was over 30 days ago now.
Good as long as nobody enters wrong odometer reading
Had issues because the app would not allow me to correct a wrong odometer entry. Customer support was not a help I was about to delete the app but a service was done and their entry corrected the issue
Service update
This Carfax Car Care is great it tells me when I need to do my services and I can put it in as well not just the shop.
Terrible, recent update. (Summer 2026)
A recent update has introduced frequent automatic logouts, and this is a terrible design decision for an app like this. I use the app to log my vehicles’ odometer readings roughly every 4–6 weeks so I can keep track of maintenance intervals. Now, nearly every time I open the app to update the mileage, I’ve been logged out and have to go through the email verification-code process again. That added friction is already making me less likely to bother entering the information. More importantly, being automatically logged out can prevent maintenance and recall notifications from being delivered. That undermines one of the app’s most useful purposes. This is not a banking or other high-security app containing particularly sensitive information. There is no reasonable need for login sessions to expire this aggressively, especially when doing so interferes with notifications and normal use. Please restore long-term login retention. This has been one of the best places to keep vehicle maintenance information—but only if the app actually stays logged in. Edit to your reply - I did contact CarFax (twice) about this degradation of the iOS app's usefulness and received pointless boilerplate "the app was updated for security" replies, indicating this botched 1-week login period was intentional. Personally, I'd like to get maintenance reminders and they won't work if the app is always logged out. It's not an issue you can fix for "me", it's an issue you need to fix in your app design.
Somewhat buggy
Lots of cool tracking features and reminders, but several times I’ve noticed it fails to update when I enter information. Just now I tried to enter my last tire rotation, but I couldn’t get it to take, even after restarting the app. Kinda frustrating because this has happened multiple times now.
Automatic Oil Change
Every service automatically records an oil change. Why?
Frustrated
Recently the app has just stopped working. Have tried to update my self service oil change odometer to keep track of my next change many times. Odometer never updated and just continuously says my next oil change is due in 3 weeks. (been like this for at least 2 months) Self service in general is a very badly done thing on this app. always super laggy and just never really works the way it should
EXCELENTE
Muy buena app para tener récord de todo
Records, car missing from app
I have been using this app and now one of my cars is missing, as well as other records
Historical data
I love how Carfax has pulled information that predates my ownership. However, I cannot enter historical data with the odometer reading if the service centre is not a Carfax member. It doesn’t allow me to enter an odometer reading that precedes the reading of my last service. This seems ridiculous to me that you lock this option. I can clearly enter older dates for service.
It’s ok
If a mechanic or third party makes a mistake on inputting your data, such as mileage, it’s impossible to override it, and the car fax customer service is non-existent to assist. And the app continuously doesn’t display the entire UI to make manual inputs in the “glovebox” section.
Printing History
It would be nice to print the service history records. For example, i can search on oil change and display all the pil change records. Id like to print those records out. I gave 3 stars because i cant do this. Its a great feature to add !
Reveiw
Great app love that I can track all my maintenance for free
Good app gone bad
I used to depend on this app to keep track of basic info about my car. For example, the DMV needs the last 5 characters of all my my car’s VIN numbers which I used to keep in the glovebox for ready access. Since they are now masking numbers (why???) this feature is now useless. Dumb, since it’s my cars. You can’t even reveal it. So I’ve moved on to other apps.
Rollback
When I enter my odometer reading it rolls it back by one KM. Why?
Better than Nothing, But Not Very Functional
This app does track your service history, but in an extremely primitive and clunky way. For example, you can’t pull up a record of your oil changes, a record of the last time you changed transmission fluid, etc. You have to scroll down through every single service visit you’ve had a read the list of things done. Also, it tells you what is needed, but only if you use the regular maintenance schedule. If you use the severe schedule, you’re SOL. Pretty embarrassing to have such limited functionality in 2026.
Broken
Just started using the Car Care app a few months ago after my previous app started experiencing major issues and became unusable. Now, with the latest update to the Carfax app, I can’t open any records on either of my cars. Spent a lot of time transferring these records over - very frustrating.
Carfax
Great to keep track of service
Feature request
Please make it so I can share the maintenance tracking of one of my vehicles with someone, and they can also have the car on their dashboard. Thank you
It only allows for one set of tires
In Canada, it is customary to have 2 sets of tires. Winter tires and all season tires. The app doesn’t allow you to track both sets or when you should swap them.
doesn’t store info long term- beware!
I thought this was a great app and I’ve been using it for a while. However, I got logged out of the app and when I logged back in, all of my manual input maintenance logs were gone. It seems they don’t keep your manually logged info in their database. So now I’ve lost almost all of my maintenance information and have to try to dig back through records from two or three different shops to figure out what I’ve had done. Looking for an alternative.
All my stuff is gone
All my info and services and avatar are gone, only things that show up in services is my registration renewals. What happened?
Great App
This app give a lot of information on your vehicle.
App won’t open
I just purchased CarShield yesterday but I cannot get into the app I downloaded on my iPhone 16 Plus. I can go to CarShield.com and get in but not the app. Why?
Could be more flexible
My maintenance handbook suggests tire rotation every 4 months, but the app only allows every 3 or 6.
Server
Constant issues with server cannot be reached. Unable to add car for tracking due to this issue. Makes app essentially useless.
A weak app gets weaker
The change in my garage behavior is rough. Bringing focus on shopping for a car is to benefit Carfax, not me.
Awesome App.
I have use this app for years. It helps me manage all of the services required and alerts me when it is time for the service.
Won’t open crashes
As of 7/31/26 the app will sit on the open screen then close itself after about 30seconds. Please fix soon
Basic Car
Nissan Micra is a basic car, which could let you go from point A to point B without any problem. Love it so far!
Update deleted 2 years of records
Greatly disappointed! Loved the app, used for two years plus. Added a fill up two days ago. Yesterday opened the app and it asked for l my vin and then opened with no records!!!
Great overall, but some issues
Overall the idea is great and it does what I need the most, combine carfax maintenance entries with personal entries to complete the picture. There’s a few things that I think could be improved 1. You cannot add your own custom intervals, it only shows you oil, brakes and tires). I would want to add custom ones like atf, diff, brake fluid, etc 2. Uploading and viewing images seems inconsistent, sometimes they load just fine sometimes not 3. You cannot view the full VIN anymore, this one frustrates me the most, I used to use carfax to quickly copy paste my vin number, now it’s hidden. I don’t see the purpose of this
Handy Tool
Helps me keep my Vehicles running the roads
Doesn’t open
Never had a problem with this app for years. Lately, I’ve been trying to open this app to update the data that’s not uploading automatically, as I’ve usually done before, and it constantly crashes. I tap the app, the fox image appears and after about 10 seconds, the app just closes on me. It’s been 3-4 months since this have been happening. I uninstalled and reinstalled it on my phone, same thing happens. It’s unusable. Unless this app isn’t working on iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 26.6, then I don’t know what the reason can be. I used it for years and loved how I could keep track of all the things I’ve done on my car.
Good but needs more options to track maintenance schedule
Want to be able to modify default maintenance schedule. Also to set other reminder on dashboard based on that maintenance schedule. Developers - it's so close! Add these options and it'll be perfect
Always "a network error has occurred"
Used to be great. Fairly useless these days. Constant "network error has occurred" somehow blaming my "network". Lol.
Odometer
Won’t let me adjust incorrect mileage even on manual service record entries. Error says “odometer reading cannot be lower than the last reported odometer.” Why not? I’m entering historical data and have already changed the date to reflect this, so that makes no sense. I have the actual correct reading on paper from a receipt months ago and yet it forces me to go with the auto-generated number because my current mileage is higher. This is such a basic feature and should have a simple fix.
Great App to track car care
Highly recommend, especially if you take care of your car’s basic needs yourself at home.
The most recent update sucks!!!
Quit messing with a good thing! You really screwed this up with the July 2026 update. I’m trying to find a different maintenance manager now. Stupid!!!
First available
What year was this app first available on iOS or google play?
Not stable
App needs work. Crashes and doesn’t function properly.
Could be much better
Two major annoyances. 1. My pictures of my cars keep disappearing. 2. If a shop is not listed (I.e. most independent mechanics) it is frustratingly difficult to enter maintenance.
