What people like
- Great for quick break time laughs
- Fastest place to see breaking news
- Less addictive than other social media
What they complain about
- Constantly drains battery and overheats phone
- Videos freeze or audio cuts out often
- Too many intrusive ads interrupt experience
- Bots post unwanted political propaganda
Gagtastic!!
Words cannot express how I have been entertained over the years with 9Gag. I have learned, laughed, laughed harder, supported others. This is a Gagtastic community.
Listens to your microphone even if you have it turned off in privacy
This use to be a great app full of memes. Now it is like any other social media platform. Screenshots from twitter, shadow bans for speaking out against communist china or any leftist wing ideology, outright bans for no reason,… not to mention the INSANE amount of privacy breaches. It tracks you across apps, listens in on your microphone, and tracks your location even if you have them all blocked on your phone settings. This company is located in Hong Kong and unfortunately now controlled by communist china. A lot of the privacy issue started once the CCP took control.

SO MANY BUGS
I have been a loyal user of this app for over 10 years, but the bugs see getting ridiculous. A new update every two days to fix bugs and create new ones. Get it together, dev team.
Not worth getting back to
I used to have 9gag and thought to download it again. You get blasted with so many ads, it’s a garbage app now
Bots
There are tooooo many bots
Phone burns up
You guys need to optimize the app… my phone burns up and battery drains quickly when I’m on 9GAG. iPhone 15 pro
Commenting Pic = Crash
When posting an image is the comments of another’s post the app closes.
Shrillen
Thrillen
Memory Destroyer
Absolutely gobbles every bit of memory until phone becomes unresponsive and always has. Nobody cares. Constant force kills to use.
It’s 9GAG
Needs to go back to memes and less videos. Also the app won’t let me sign in
Can’t download media
This app blows I can’t download my Memes
Videos keep losing sound on app
Every so often the sound from videos keeps cutting off completely, usually when an add begins to load up then no sound for any successive videos at all. I have to close and reload the app which then means scrolling back through everything as it’s brought me right back to the top.
I don’t have social media…..
I don’t have any social media, but I love 9GAG ❤️ it fills the “void” and much less addicting than anything else.
Clunky, barely works
App freezes. Loses sound. Videos don’t play. But the ads always work
Make it pop
Alright guuuud
Bug fixes?
Now audio randomly stops / starts playing (iPhone up to date)
Audio not working
Audio not working on iPhone 14pro
THE Best
Best app ever for break time entertainment
Ads directly to App Store suck
I used to love this app, but the ease at which the AppStore opens with normal scrolling over ads is infuriating.
Great app
The app is good and refreshing but starts to lag and the phone gets hot after 10 min of usage. Please fix that.
Keep fixing
I’ve been using 9GAG since 2011. This is the first time I had the app not want to load any new posts for me. 2 stars til it’s fixed.
Meine liebste App
So nice
A great app to use
Censored garbage
No freedom of speech cause it’s a Chinese ran platform.
Bug
Dunno why, but this app keeps pausing music in another app (Jet Audio) , maybe because of the ads , maybe because of this bugged app. iOS 17.4
Pr0n problem
This app has a porn problem. They have posted rules about what is mot allowed but the same accounts post full on porn images, gifs and videos daily racking up hundred of upvotes for hours before they get taken down. Offending accounts are back the next day posting again. Images that are removed from the feeds can still be viewed on the app by going to the posting account page or to other “collector” pages so nothing really gets removed anyway. There is an underground sub culture of accounts that post, comment or upvotes that find each other to look at each others porn collections. Support never replies to questions about the porn.
Update
Did the update (19/06/25) nothing loads anymore. And everything is the same page (fresh/trending/hot)
😎
👌🏼
Videos don’t load
All I get is the spinning arrow. Videos never play.
Too much sex
I love to go on 9GAG, but I find too much of filth and sex If it’s the Funny section, then why is there so much of dirt It should be purely humorous Make a separate section for sex
Use to be better
Currently it’s mostly political memes. Bring back the old 9GAG.
Censoring
Chinese app censoring war in Ukraine and deleted whole Section.
Love it
I get all the news of the entire world hero 9GAG first and then you have to check it out and verify cause there’s a lot of BS on here but I’ve not found any venue that’s faster at getting the word out.
Heavily censored
I've been on 9gag since probably around 2012 and it's been awesome over the years. The laughs were next level and literally helped me stave off depression. Used to even find out news there before anywhere else. Nowadays though, it's a heavily sanitized shadow of it's former self. Funny memes are mostly gone and almost every other video is a cat video or some recycled garbage from another platform. M9GA.. Make 9gag Great Again
Gooderest
Right on good kinda smile more cause you look stupid all huffypuffy mmmk down load it blah!! I said blah!!!
What happened
9GAG used to be great, it was funny had a NSFW section and funny stuff. Back then the community broke by the minute news, i remember it was the first spot to report COVID cases and war in Ukraine footage. I guess after leaking too much info during corona virus and the war on Ukraine, some entity decided to censor this app and now community doesn’t longer post, and hasn’t had NSFW. Crazy how entities will hit apps and censor information.
Too many political bots
The app used to be considerably more entertaining than it is now. Automated posts include bots which post political propaganda in whatever section, however inappropriate to the post’s content. These posts detract from the fun experience 9GAG is supposed to be. I will be happy to update my review when I see improvement in the content moderation to rein in these bots. One star Edit: March 26. The fresh section of the app is virtually unusable. The political bots are out of control and the app developers do not seem to care, no visible action is taken. Constructive criticism appears from users in the app but there is no change in the app’s behavior. This is not the experience I paid for when I purchased 9GAG. Still one star Edit: May 11. The bots have all but disappeared. It took a lot of complaining in posts in the app but at this time, it is enjoyable again. Upgrade rating to three stars.
Oh well well well
How you guys are doing? Im stock in misdle of no wherer
Censorship
Everything is censored, cant even share news just because the post has a swear word on it
Love it
When my brother sends messages with gags I love it… I really do.
Server issue
Since the new update. The app isn’t opening or displaying any feeds.
Fails to load every other post
Apps does not fully load, every other video fails to play. My internet seems to be working fine
Love the racism in the comments
Miss the days when all posts would be left alone. Miss nudity and hate that some posts are taken down.
Well that escalated quickly.
This app used to be fun. Now not so much. A lot more political and even racist than I remember it being.
No title
From functionality side working perfectly fine, from features side thatalso fine
Buggy
Constantly have to delete and reinstall the app. Keep losing sound.
Bugs bugs bugs
Earlier app worked perfectly now there is problem even with scrolling
