Good app, but focuses way too much on America and American footballers. Should also write a lot more about English and Spanish football.

The app crashed every time you swipe from match overview all the way to lineup. Been going on for like 6 months now

Articles not displaying to its full length
Enjoyed this app over the years but recent updates have made is more difficult to use. Most recent would be the way they have handled long articles, the full article is not getting rendered in the app ruining the experience.

Its a great App, resourceful and accurate. Lately there has been a mistake when a Player Scores, its named also as the Player who assisted, which often is NOT the case. Several updates have been made available since the problem appeared yet none has fixed this issue. But overall the best app out there
Consistent lag/crashing
The app consistently crashes, completely slows down and throttles the speed of my phone. App becomes inoperable and then I have to close out just to repeat the same thing a few minutes later. Had this happen on 2 different phones so it’s not me.

App sucks
App sucks. app is extremely slow. Just scrolling down the news feed, app freezes for a couple mins. Every article has an video ad, it’s annoying. It plays outloud every time w/o consent or any way of pausing it…. I cannot use the app w/o it pausing my music bc of these ads. Idk what is the vetting process for these journalists or what the review process is before publishing an article, but there are many typos, some don’t make sense… feels like a kid in hs is writing articles for goal. This app use to be much better. What happened?

ADs ruined the experience
The ads introduced are extremely irritating and unworthy when you switch on to see the stats or scores. Extremely disappointed with the app now. Wanted to send this to your end through the app however, I was not able to.

The best app for football news. It’s very easy to navigate and get around. Helps you with selecting your team and get specific information about your team.
Intrusive ads and videos
It’s so terrible how the allow these ads and videos to play at low volume without your permission and when you press the volume button to lower it, the ramp up to full volume. This is bad and I am just going to delete your app.
Less Substance than Before
It's prettier but harder to find previous/ yesterday's articles -- we want to track our own comments. Additionally, many of the stories are just gross click-bait with no truth -- just sensationalism and misinformation.

Leaving goal after 15 years
I’m not the first to say this, but the ad experience is so horrendous that it pushed me away from the app. I’m fully aware a business needs ad revenue to thrive. I don’t mind goal having ads. But now, every article I open will automatically start playing an ad OUTLOUD on my device without me consenting or having any option to stop this from happening. I put up with poor-quality, typo-riddled writing for years because I’ve just been a loyal goal reader. But them pausing my music every single time I click on an article? For the first time since 2010, I’m now on the hunt for a brand-new football news site. Absolutely shameful
Improving
The site has gotten more useable. It still freezes, occasionally. Not sure if it’s on your end or mine. Overall, pretty good!
Transfers Not updating
The Transfer Live section is not being updated. Last I can see is still as on 6th January 2024..
Few issues since last update
I cannot see points table for any leagues since last update and before this recent fix, I could see league standings only if I first select the match and then click on leagues title in Matches tab. Please fix it.

Never write these
Man oh man, I enjoy the app, sometimes we get some decent content, sometimes we don’t. That’s ok. What’s not ok is making sure your ads and videos have volume that supersedes whatever I’m currently playing. If this app shuts my music off one more time, I’m out.
Notifications of goals from 20 years ago
Goal.com devs, there’s something very wrong! I’m getting notifications of goals from games in the Championship from September of 2004. Please fix, it’s super annoying. Still a good app otherwise

I use this app daily, but there are currently serious bugs with the app and it’s functionality is at an all time low based on my many years of usage. Please fix and I will return to give better review. I have always appreciated this app but am here to let you know the app is presently in poor shape. Currently when I select a specific match, it is either extremely slow or impossible to load the different sections under the match (such as standings, comments, etc). This was never an issue in the past but is a persistent issue now, even with full wifi strength. By the way, why is it “standings” now instead of “table?” As an American, I can assure you, no one wants the needless Americanization of football terms.
Transfer page issue
After all those updates and you still can’t fix the issue with transfer page. It goes blank after 5 seconds of reading and this issue is persistent from such a ling time.

Volume on ads
Been using this app for years and now they have started auto playing the volume on their ads in the background. I’m reading an article why anyone would think I would want to hear the volume of an ad while I’m reading is beyond me. If I want to view the ad and hear the volume I will. Such childish obligation on Goal’s part. Nobody does that on other sites. I will delete this app of that does not change and go back to how it was

Force closing
Overall this is good but some tweaks to the following would be good: Whilst reading articles the app doesn’t shutdown but it does boot you out of the article to the homepage, this gets annoying. On similar apps they have more articles to read about the different teams although I would choose quality over quantity so this isn’t necessarily an issue. App doesn’t include first names of the players just initials.

You guys are having a malfunctioning application for over 6 months now and yet you haven’t had enough time to fix the problem.. it’s disappointing and I wish a new app that can give us more than what you are offering comes into light so we can dump you guys for good.. you guys need to fix the issues with your app now with too many missing informations that use to be there before
Sketchy Spammy Clickbait
I’ve used Goal for years even though I’ve never particularly liked it. The level of journalism is high school/first year uni newspaper, and the app and website are so heavily ad driven that neither is a pleasant experience. The main draw for me has been that Goal has all the social media transfer gossip that respectable news sites don’t always run, and I don’t need to use those social media sites (mostly Twitter and Instagram). Goal started forcing their cookie selection on users awhile back, and I should have uninstalled then. Now they automatically run audiovisual material without giving you the option to automatically mute or just suppress the material. That’s more than a step too far. I’m uninstalling this.

Used to be great
Used to be a great app but the adverts are a hinderance. The journalism really seems to have taken a downwards trajectory as well, far lazier than it used to be. The comments section is also an awful place filled with homophobic and bigoted comments that are never deleted. Such a shame.

The app because it pretty much violates users privacy by making it not possible to manager cookie preference. They have an option that says manage cookies but you literally cannot change the setting which is stuck on “always active”.

Crashing issues
App keeps crashing. Articles close unexpectedly. When you click on any news on home screen, it only opens the app and does not open the same article. Otherwise good articles.

I am using ios26 and the app quit giving me notifications of team starting goals scoring. I don’t get any notifications anymore. Why?
Good but can be improved
The app and information is good. However, the new ad placement as the app is opened causes delay in viewing live scores. Such ads can either be put in the background or after a minute of viewing. It creates irritation as you are unable to do anything for those 5 seconds while the ad plays, and no one completes it. Don’t be youtube!
App gives incorrect Match Result Details
The penalty win for Inter Miami Vs Dallas shows as loss to Inter Miami. The app shows a total of 26 penalties between Inter Miami and Nashville and shows 2 misses penalties for Inter. Whats wrong with the app?
