What people like
- Feels exactly like the real calculator
- Love using RPN input system
- Perfect for engineers who need it
What they complain about
- Numbers look wrong on new phones
- Button clicks are too loud to turn off
- App breaks after iOS updates
HP 15c
Great reproduction of the classic! Works great in the iPhone 6. I'm an electrical engineer who still depends on my 15c. Main complaint is the very loud clicks for the buttons which is very annoying, especially since there is no way to disable or lower its volume from within the ap. Turning off the ringer on the side of the iPhone to disable sound works but is unacceptable. Hopefully HP will fix this soon - especially if enough of us complain. However, the calculating capabilities work exactly as the original.
Jarring setback
Please give us faithful an option to bring back the prior look. The old version looked exactly like the calculator. This new version, not so much.
Display numbers are too high
For some reason, the numbers in the display are way up high compared to where they used to be, I think, and I think they could be moved down very easily.
Was soll das?
The app is great but lack features
The app is great and works well, but it lacks the ability to load programs from text files. I own a HP 15 Collector’s Edition, and the data cable: the ability to load programs is invaluable. I think this feature should likely come soon, but know that it is not available today. That is the only reason for not being five star.
Just Like Old Times
I have been an engineer for over 30 years. Always used HO 15. This app is even better than original calculator.
Lost the Vintage Charm
I loved the original version. It was essentially the same size as my real HP. Then they stretched it to fill the screen and did not give me the option to return to the vintage layout size. Most users will probably not mind but for someone like me who has stared at a real HP 15c a zillion times, I downloaded an alternative app that preserves the vintage charm. Sorry to give a bad review after loving the earlier version so much.
Why is the Display not ok?
- In portrait view the displayed numbers are located at the wrong Location on the Display. (very bad!) - In landscape view the „flip“ button from „back side“ is not working. (not so bad) The first failure was already reported one year ago from someone else in german language - is there nomore support for this app? (REALLY VERY BAD FOR THE PRICE!) (iPhone Xs Max)
Ok but...
Landscape mode is ok but the display on portrait mode is not centered when using the iPhone 11
Can’t live without this
Been using this for years!
Upgrades uncalled for
The recent uncalled for upgrades degraded the ability of this calculator to function
HP15c_app
HP 15c Scientific Calculator: The app does not run properly on iphone 11 ios 13.6 (numbers appear at wrong position) Fixing possible?
All good on iOS 14.3
Have used 15C on iPhone 10 for over 2 Yrs, with no issues. Upgraded to 11pro with 14.3, so far no problems👍
Nice but display does work
The numbers in the display on the iPhone XS Max r off. Pls fix!
Nice update
Thanks for giving the emulator’s vertical layout the same features as the original calculator and the horizontal layout.
Needs updating - no longer works
I used this app daily until I upgraded my phone to iPhone 13 Pro and IOS 15 and now the app doesn’t work anymore. Won’t open, just reverts to the iPhone Home Screen.
Display blinking
The app is good. #Nostalgia. I didn't get why when calculating combination/ permutation, e.g. 45 ENTER 6 Cx,y, the answer 8,145,060 is blinking. The blinking occurs also when running program. My solid state HP15C doesn't have this behavior.
Abnormal for HP product
The digit are not in they’re place on the screen of the iPhone X plus
Os13.3
Con OS 13.3 la finestra grafica espone i risultati disallineati
Faithful replica
Matches my actual 15C perfectly!
HP 15C
I had spoken with Apple, who in turn asked me to ring the Developer. Spoke with HP Support, sent them images of the numbers not lining up with the display window, was told that they were aware of the problem, but it was up to the Developer to make the fix. That was almost a year ago, and still it has not been fixed. Paid for the app, would expect bugs to be fixed as required. Apple should remove this app from the app store.
Mise à jour ... udapte
Update => IOS 11
HP 15C
Developer did a bug fix 3 weeks ago and didn’t bother holding the iPhone in portrait orientation to observe numbers don’t line up with display. Terrible QA. The developer web site (HP) on the AppStore gives an Oops .. page not found. Another QA master stroke.
GREAT, but...
...PLEASE, update to 64 bit!!!!
Excellent App
Very happy this spp is being maintained. Nice update. The 15c is one of the best calculators Hewlett-Packard ever made.
Great in landscape, buggy in portait
Great calculator direct from HP, all the same algorithms as the original and it includes the manual. The portrait version, which is a nice touch to include, could be a lot better though. On the iPhone XR the digits aren't in the display area at all.
Fast perfekt
Super Taschenrechner, aber bitte auf 64-Bit updaten!
Upgrade broke it.
The latest upgrade broke it, on my iPhone 11. The numbers are now out of place in both orientations. Please fix...!
Update please ASAP
Great calculator and HP charged a lot for this. BUT please update it HP so it works with the next iOS
Brilliant app
I use scientific calculations all day, and this app is silky magnificent. It has been worth the price many ties over, and I would hate to be without it. Fantastic!
Not as advertised - limited functionality
False advertising, does not have functionality supposedly paid for. Very disappointed, can you return apps and get money back?
Bitte schnell korrigieren.
Good, but ...
... should be updated soon. From time to time I see a warning regarding the lack of 64 bit support of. Also the screen size doesn't fit on modern iPhones like 6/6s.
RPN Rules
I love the RPN input system. I have this original calculator and this “app” will always be on my phone and tablet.
We need this calculator updated!
I’ve been using HP scientific calculators for forty years. The only HP15 I trust is the version offered by HP, but they haven’t updated it for IOS11. When will loyal HP customers’ needs be addressed?
Good app. Needs tweaking.
The app is good though a little bit pricey when considering that there are far more powerful calculator apps that are less expensive. (HP is preying on the sentimental engineer who misses their HP15C) The following improvements will be appreciated: 1) Expand options behind the "Menu" icon to include the following: a) Link to App developer support. (How hard would that be?) b) A switch to turn off key press sound feedback so that the user doesn't annoy their co-workers or people trying to study in a library. c) Turn off the blinking after providing the calculated answer given after using a programmed set of functions. (The blinking answer keeps blinking at you and it annoys the blinking blinking out of the user)
Please update for iOS 11!!!
Please update for iOS 11!!! I paid for this expecting it to be well supported. It works on my old 5C which is now, apparently, my calculator.
Update needed- and deserved, at this price
Good replica - but not yet upgraded for iPhone6 - nor even ios9. Main screen just a little too small on my phone, with borders in landscape- if it filled the whole screen it would be much more usable. Manual uses old style buttons, not iOS 9. I like it- but was not worth the $ I paid. Next time I'll try a 3rd party copy.
To use on iOS 12, delete & Reinstall
Updated to iOS 12 and it stopped working. I deleted it and powered down iPhone. Restarted and re-installed and it works again.
Ripped off!
Strongly object to having to pay for this app again, having paid a lot for the 32 bit version.
Some quirks
It is good that the HP 15C app is reissued in an iPad-native version that supports the iPhone retina display. But as a customer of the previous HP 15C app I find it inappropriate that I had to re-purchase it instead of merely updating it. And there are some quirks: (1) In the old version, it was possible to swap the decimal point with a comma. This functionality is lost in the new version. (2) The navigation in the Owner's Manual doesn't work. And, of course, it would be great if a forthcoming version could support the new iPad retina display!
Superb Scientific RPN Calculator
I’ve had HP15c calculators since the mid-1980s, and until I had a smartphone to carry around, always had one in my everyday carry. Now that this beautiful emulator exists, I have the best of both worlds. Thanks!!
Not updated for iOS 11
No 64 bit version -- current app does not work on iOS 11. No idea if it will be updated. (And no confidence as this has not seen any updates in years)
No Kachunk!!!!!!!!!
Why after updating did you get rid of the original key sound? If I wanted an iPhone tap sound I would download any calculator app for free! Please bring back the kchunk sound effect! Please!
