Learning vs time efficiency...
I love that it helps me learn chinese! The other app was all in English, and I felt dumbed down. But the other app was a tap here and a tap to and all good. This one is a tap and a tap to route then having to remember what the place was to find. A little more time consuming. But again, I’d rather learn chinese.
Outdated
This is the easiest interface to use that I’ve seen so far. Unfortunately a lot of the ‘newer’ (built 3yrs ago) lines and stations aren’t on here. Trying to get to an area and the app saying the station doesn’t exist isn’t the most convenient anymore... (eg Shanghai metro line 9)

I found this to be good and useful when traveling in different directions... it gives out info which all metro lines to take to reach our destination

Very out-of-date!
I agree with previous reviewers. It’s ok if you’re only travelling in the central area, but very out-of-date for the newer extensions of lines 9 or 5 for example. It seems the developers have stopped responding to these comments. It surely can’t be all that difficult to up-date the app?!
Great app
Its being 1 year since the last update, that makes me sad since its really and easy to use app and map, compare to other route planers in my opinion. Hope someday Mapway retake this app and take it back to the top as it is supposed to be ^^ keep the good work mapway!
Disappointed
It was the best app when I moved to Shanghai..... 4 years ago. Now there have been so many new lines opened and they're not included. I would avoid this app and search for a more cohesive one. Shame though
Great tool!
This is a great app, it is well thought out and has a very clear, intuitive interface. It would be very helpful for veteran expats exploring new areas of the city and tourists in need of a helping hand. All we need now, is a map update to take into account the new stations that have popped up this year!
Used to be GREAT. Now out of date.
I used this for all of 2014 living in Shanghai. But now it’s out of date. For example, it doesn’t have the Shanghai Natural History museum station. If it were updated, it would again become the best Shanghai subway app.
A the job done
Excellent basic functions. Clear interface to tell you where stations are in Mandarin and Pinyin, easy to use 'directions' functions which tells you how long it will take from one station to another. This does not take into account walking between lines when changing. A useful addition would be to allow passengers to see first and last trains, the intervals that trains are arriving, live train times and delays, station closures etc. It also takes a very long time to update when new lines are open. Line 13 had been fully open for months before they released an update. Overall fine for getting from A to B.

Very easy to use and better than reaching in to your pocket for a paper map. Just about every person on the Shanghai subway is using a phone, so you'll fit right in and look like you know where you're going. The ticket machines have an "English" button for easy ticket purchase.
Don't use this if you want up to date maps
My nearest metro station opened over 6 months ago but has yet to be included. Seems like they stopped updating this app. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

Inaccurate and outdated
Sadly, this once useful app is no more! Stations are missing on the iPhone version, most notably Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1 (a gross oversight) among others. Entire lines are absent, too. Shame...
Great app; less encouraging customer service!
This is a really useful app with clear graphics and easy to use. The regular interruptions, at start-up, of ads for the Hong Kong Metro app is annoying, simply because there is no way to stop it (even when, like me, you also have the HKM app installed). The most frustrating thing, however, is that this app really needs updating, to show the new lines on Shanghai Metro. I used the publishers' web site, to send in an enquiry, but they haven't bothered to respond. Meanwhile, I am having to use a different app, whose graphics are nowhere near as clear, nor the route planner as intuitive to use, simply because their map is up-to-date.
Map not up to date! Has missing stations!
This map hasn't been updated in a while and could do with an overhaul of all the new lines and stations in Shanghai. For example, line 12 extends further across more stations and there's even a Disney Resort Station! Where is it? You'll need another map to show you that...

Travel with ease
I don't always use the route planner function, because google maps gives more precise directions, but this app is a godsend. It keeps me from looking like a tourist because i don't have to study the posted maps, I can discreetly check my direction with this. The maps are clear and in both Chinese and English, so I need to ask a local, I simply change the language. I've gotten so confident with traveling now that I have many of the routes memorized. Everyone get this app!
Had the previous version which was better.
The previous version allowed you to just click two different stops and it would then tell you the fastest way with cost. Now you have to click one station then type in the other. Makes it much more difficult if two stations have similar names etc.

How is line 12 not on this app yet??? It has been opened for awhile now. It makes no sense for it to be easier to build and activate a whole metro line than update an app. Great app otherwise.

Need to add extra lines
This was my preferred app for the Shanghai Metro. It displayed names in English and Chinese, so could show to taxi drivers if needed. It showed quickest way and simplest route between two stations which was good. It also offered Uber rides, which I never used but it gave me a rough price of how much a cab would cost. But, they've yet to include the new lines. It's been a while now and I thought they would have added them by now. I was on my way home the other day and I suggested a way home, but my fries with another app suggested a much simpler way using one of the new lines. Needs updating. I may download again if they update soon but for now I've downloaded a different app.
Good overall, but should stay updated

I'm not sure if you (the creator) have noticed, but a few lines have had their routes either changed or extended. so this map app is that reliable anymore.
Not bad but...
Here's a suggestion - provide the option of viewing the map "to scale." For example, you placed Longyang Road directly north of Pudong Airport to save space on the screen so we don't have to scroll a lot. Yet, on a truly scaled map you'd see that the airport is actually southeast of Longyang. It's misleading and makes it hard to judge distances.

app not updated since 2013. new stations/lines need adding. first and last train, trip cost and travel yimes need adding/updating.

Good app but out of date. There are many new line extensions missing. There are now better aps.
