Good stuff

Simply Beautiful. In Content and appearance.

Great, but!

Content is equally the best around. Format and design is just right. Cost is fantastically affordable. I wish the font size could be changed though.

— RobJKennedy

★★☆☆☆ Germany · v16.0 · 25 Apr 2020

Why the small font?

Do you not want your articles to be read? If you‘d had a prior look at other MAZ apps, you would have known what was coming: a lousy programming job nowhere near the Republic’s journalistic qualities. What a waste of resources..

Superior navigation

Very well designed. Pages swipe downwards through an article and across for the next piece. With little need to peck around the screen, I can concentrate on the content.

★☆☆☆☆ Canada · v24.0 · 27 Aug 2024

My first article made me decide to cancel

The first article of the New Republic that I read was by Lee Dutrick and was as negative as the republicans are. I am Canadian and from what I witness President Biden was an incredible president and has done so much for your country. Many up here felt that way. He is a politician who gives me hope. All the people who referred to his disastrous debate have obviously never had an off day. And never had a felon, rapist, liar as their debating partner. Meanwhile I understand that Joe Biden was at the same time navigating and expertly negotiating a hostage release. I may have gotten Lee’s surname wrong. His article has so put me off that I am going to cancel and continue the uplifting and informative Substack and the Medias podcast where challenging issues can be brought forward knowing that there are things to do to create a kinder and fairer world. It's all in the content....?

It was a pleasant surprise to discover the iPad app 'New Republic'. As a life long English Socialist, now living in Thailand, I have often thought of 'apps' as excuses for money grabbing shysters. Consequently I was pleased to discover the app whilst reading the Guardian online. (Yet another thank you to that publication) Good content, thought provoking articles, such as the recent one on 'Loneliness' , means that I will happily look forward to each edition.

★★☆☆☆ United Kingdom · v16.0 · 18 Apr 2020

2 accounts needed. 2 issues behind?

Very disappointing to find this app so unhelpful, confusing and only showing the March issue. 2 months out of date! No information about the difference between 1. One’s ACTUAL subscription account with the magazine and 2. Creating an account in this app that will somehow allow one to view the TNR mag across “devices”? Something one can do quite easily by logging into to the TNR page and signing in using one’s said subscription account. This seems like a deliberate attempt to confuse people into paying again to read TNR mag in this app?? Very worrying! Also the latest issue available is the May2020 issue online. But March 2020 is the latest one available here in the App, despite the fact that when you are at the aforementioned “ create an account...across other devices” page as already mentioned. There is a picture of the 3 latest editions. MAY, March, APRIL. Which quite frankly only seems to suggest and add to the idea that one needs to pay an(other) subscription to read the latest editions in this TNR APP. If this is not deliberate obfuscation? Then why are the April and May editions not available through this App right now? Yet can be read by any bona fide subscriber, such as myself, using any device that can connect to the WWW & the TNR page - and has a reasonable sized screen???? This seems more like the sort of deliberate muddling The Dirty Digger Murdoch and his filthy employees on Fox News would do? The exact opposite of what the The New Republic is and has always been known for. I am very disturbed and confused by this. I would be most grateful if could please explain these apparent anomalies. And also why one this app is 2 issues out of date? Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Impressive Overhaul

A botched transition to be sure... But good things sometimes have difficult births and this is a vast improvement over original app. it is similar to New Yorker app but with some very cool viz innovations in terms of stills and video. Generally good re-design. potentially, one of the best magazine apps out there --once the access bugs are worked out.

Crashes and not Ipad mini friendly

★☆☆☆☆ Canada · v2.4.1 · 4 Jan 2016

Useless. Customer service terrible!

Do not waste your money on the New Republic app. They don't care that this app works for almost nobody. They already have your money, so why should they care if you don't get what you paid for?

— KwesiObroni

★★☆☆☆ Australia · v2.0 · 27 Jan 2013

Be careful

This app doesn't recognise my iPad subscription from the previous app and so I've lost access to my back issues. It won't let me sign-in, won't let me retrieve my password and I can't get a response from their customer support. I think they are trying to direct people to the print version and away from the tablet
