What people like
- Actors make the reading engaging and alive
- Helpful highlights verse while listening
- Good speed control and large print options
What they complain about
- Lost purchases after updates or phone changes
- App crashes or won't open recently
- Background audio stops when locking screen
- Expensive price for basic access
Please enlarge print for the Bible books list .
I love how you can enlarge the print for reading and slow down speed for listening . But when looking for a book of the Bible to read the print is so very small and can’t be enlarged. Can’t you Change that ? and make it possible to enlarge the list and then also the chapters list and then the verse list.
Lost everything
With whatever new update they did in the last 2 days I have lost all my purchases. I had both the old and New Testament bought and now I can't access either. I used this every night to fall asleep. It gives you the option to restore your purchases but my spins for a second and then stops. I'm not buy it again. I'm very disappointed.
Why no choices?
I’d love to go to sleep hearing Psalms 91, repeated through the night. Or The beatitudes yet I don’t have that option. Please add an update. Yes. I would gladly pay for this …
What happened?
This WAS the most beautiful and amazing streamed line app ever! I used to recommend it to everyone. But something has happened fairly recently that has made it very difficult for me to use. I need to use voice over in order to use this app. It is no longer fully compatible with voiceover settings. I used to be able to use the ALEXA integration to listen to my Bible every day. This is no longer an option. It appears that certain verses have been removed from this app entirely. Others have been altered and changed. I would love to see it returned to a more usable state! Still hopeful…
it isn't frendly to copy and past verses

Blessed
I 💕The Word of Promise 💕 I Read morning for 2 hrs. What a blessing it’s everyday. Praise Our Father Adonai & Yeshua’s is Our Savior!!!!
Not the original…
Why did you change the voices??? I can’t stand this audio Bible anymore… the original voices is not only better, but so were the effects. Ever hear the term, “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” I want an option for the original content, THAT I PAID FOR!!
Great App
This is a great app that I like to use while I’m walking. I enjoy listening while I walk however, I would love to be able to do this without carrying my phone. Is there anyway that a version could be created for Apple Watch? Other than that the only issues I’ve had with this app is using concordances and restoring purchases sometimes does not work. Thank you for all your hard work..
EXPENSIVE !EXPENSIVE !!EXPENSIVE !!!
I LOVE THE FORMER “THE WORD OF PROMISE “ BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP ON PAYING $28.99 to $38.99 EVERY GIME I WANT TO READ A BIBLICAL CHAPTER? HAVE YOU GREEDY CONTENT CREATORS GONE MAD? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? I HAVE ALREADY PAID THIS AMOUNT! STOP PROFITEERING, EXPLOITING THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. HOW DARE YOU!
moving text highlight whilst audio is playing eratic
The eratic movement of the text highlight as the audio progresses is very disturbing and the view of the text gets mangled up. Not a nice experience

Bible and Pricing
Well done to the team but! 1. Seeing all those controls at the bottom of the Bible is distracting me especially while reading the Bible 2. The Bible is quite expensive. I think it has an advantage over Youversion because of the dramatized version but the amount is too much. 3. I think that the spacing between the Bible verses should be more so that reading can be easier.
Winning way
What happened to the winning way sermons on the app?
This is my daily bread
This is like the air I breathe.
Word of promise.
I have an absolutely major complaint. Some time age I bought Word of Promise so I could have it on my iPad. I haven’t use it for awhile and just recently I went to use it again and I being asked to pay again. This is absolutely terrible. I’m writing hear because it is impossible to cont Thomas Nelson.
I love but needs updating
I love this bible. But I think it needs updating to a more modern stream line design and a subscription based model for people like me who can afford to buy. Hopefully new updates will come soon.
Restoring Purchases
I love this app. I have been using it since 2018 off and on as a study Bible; however, I recently bought a new phone and I am not able to restore my purchases. It works then goes away again even though I am logged in and everything. I really would like to continue to use this app but there is no customer service or developer contact where I can get help with this issue and the study materials is the only reason I use the app at all.
The Best Audio Bible App
I’ve used this app regularly for many years! I love the NKJV, and it is do helpful to have it read it to me. I am able to read along, because the app highlights the current verse. If I’m in a loud room but want to read the Bible, I can put in my headphones and let this read to me. Otherwise I can’t read by myself without getting distracted Thank you so much!
App stops playing
Older version of the app would allow the content to play even when my phone would go to sleep or if I wanted to do something else on my phone. Now it won’t do that. I used this app to fall asleep to but now I can’t do that unless my phone is always awake. Big bummer and very upsetting.
I love the living sounds, music and actors voices!
This audio Bible makes scripture come alive and the variety of voices keeps you listening actively — very engaging! It could be improved by making more versions an option—ESV & NIV!
Glitchy Update😡
Why oh why does it happen that every time they do an update, there’s a problem?! App was working perfectly before. NOW I have to re-download the entire bible that I purchased, chapter by chapter...😤🤬🥵
Phenomenal
The Word of Promise is such a blessing. I have been using this app for almost 7 years now and I love listening to it. I love the voices from the actors. This is a fantastic app and I would recommend it to everyone!
can't log in to restore purchase
Tried to log in and chose "forgot password". A pop-up window said "new password sent". I pressed "Ok" but I was not sent any email. Tried this several times already. App Support button leads to nowhere. Please advise.
I can't play audio in background
I can't play audio in background. It usee to be possible before (i guess before the update). Now i click the play button and as soon as i go back yo home screen, the audio stops. 🙂 please do something; thanks! 🙏🏾 i still love the app tho. Almost 4yrs now
Moses
I have the full audio and on the whole I would recommend it. However it’s been spoilt by the actor that voices Moses. He sounds like a lecherous old drunk and at times it’s difficult to make out what he’s saying. It’s a shame that it’s such a big part. I now use the audio narrated by David Suchet for the early books of the Old Testament so I don’t have to put up with the cringeworthy performance of Moses.
Buy it now!
It’s time to get to know your true Heavenly Father. I love listening while driving, errands, chores, fitness, or just morning & night. You will too! Life changing for the better! One Sinner Saved
Too Expensive
I used to have the first edition of the audio Bible. However as time went on my iPhone was changed and I lost it. I bought the nkjv study Bible - 2nd edition for almost £20 thinking that I would have what I had before......maybe even better. Moments later I discovered that this is just another Bible on screen - no audio. What is the point to that when I can get another app with the Bible for FREE? I have now found out that I have to pay an extra £40 or so to download the audio. My frustration is why it is so expensive and why there wasn’t a clear warning that it did not include the audio. I would have considered getting the audio regardless of its exuberant price if I had known before hand that I was not getting the audio with the £20 download. How much did you have to pay the actors to justify that high a price? You shouldn’t be making money on God’s free gift of His word but be part of promoting the gospel. I am going to cut my losses and free my device of the extra data it’s has taken to download your app.....put it down to experience.
Great app - footnote function could be improved
This is a great app. The voices/intonation of the actors really aid understanding of the verses. The additional atmospherics, through music and sound effects, are wonderful - because of this it makes you read/listen more than perhaps you would if reading by yourself. For me, the only thing that could be improved is that when the footnote box is open, it would be much better if it automatically updated with the footnotes for the verse that is being read, without you having to click each verse for each footnote, but apart from that, it's a really well delivered audio version of the Bible.
:(
Disapointed :( i purchased the audio, i have it on my ibooks but the reason i repurchased it as an app was because i couldnt easily find the books of the bible on the ibooks, it wasn't clear enough. I feel like the voice is not as good on the app :(
12.00.610 (Beta?)
This app has been a great way for me to hear the Word throughout my day. I’ve taken more in over the past few months than I ever did in a year. It’s brought me closer to Jesus, and it has elevated my relationship with God and by extension my family and friends. Thank you so much! One critique I have is below. I didn’t think about this feature, but I’d love to have the option, and if we could even play our own music, that would be a great option, as well! iPhone 16 Pro - I’m having trouble finding the option to take the music out of the background.
Can't open
After updating to latest version, app can't open..
Great app
Love the app.. Very handy.. But after latest update, there is a bug. After selecting book and verse number, while clicking on the verse number, it is not taking to that verse.
Love this app
I live this app. I appreciate their efforts to make bible reading so inspirational and enjoyable.
can't read without paying
the app might as well be paid, can't use it without buying content first.
Thumbs up !
Great app ! I just wished it looked more appealing I guess but other than that the dramatization of the scriptures are amazing ! It's not your typical boring old man voice , I love the dynamics and variation . Great job !! However .... Since the update the app will not open , help !!
Word of promise Bible readings
This app rocks!! It is a very good reading the Bible tool, I have always enjoyed reading this word of promise
What does free mean?
The first time I went to use this app it would only allow me to listen to passages other than John 1 if I got the paid version! What on earth does free mean?
Fantastic
This is probably the best NKJV audio app I own, previously I had bought a few of other NKJV audio CDs of different languages and the speed of the reading was like running a marathon, I could not process in my brain what was being read, but this app provides a good reading pace and it feels like the story in the bible has come to life, leaving enough space to think of what has been recited. The background music was mostly good, the only issue I have with this app is probably the narrator/cast reciting the voice of God could have been more solemn and majestic, the background music for voice of God should not have include the eerie sound effect which may diminish the power and sovereignty of the voice of God.
