Uploads disappear
Several attempts same result I have submitted requests and the error file etc and nothing. Very disappointed. Some updates great but every time I update I’m scared it’s gonna stop working again.

VERY limited use on iPad
I have been a satisfied iDrive user for many years - it is my primary backup solution for my Windows desktops. I was looking for a whole-device backup for my iPad to replace iCloud+ which i have “outgrown” (i.e. not enough space - sure, I could upgrade my iCloud to more storage, but why pay for that when I already pay for 5TB on iDrive, and have lots of room there for my iPad files?) But is appears that iDrive for iPad only does backups of photos, videos, contacts, and calendar - NOT files!! At least, I can’t find a way to make that happen - “Files” doesn’t appear on the list of items to back up, and I couldn’t find any online help which explains how I might do that. So, pretty disappointed.
Needs more fixes, very slow!
We are still using this app which we pay for. It freezes, is really slow upon initially loading into the app viewing and opening photos and especially in video playback it’s really slow, lacks quality and precision. Very slow uploading as well. The App needs much more optimisation and fixes so it runs a lot smoother. This is a paid for service that is keeping our very important family, work and life content. Be nice to have a bit more from the software and company regarding the app.

Lately the app is constantly in the island with an error message saying “upload photos task failed” I always had that error but didn’t know why and now it’s constantly in the island. Please fix

I have IDrive mini and I like that it was easy to link to iPhotos and appreciate the security. Uploading seemed to be in batches so was over several backup runs. Still seeing it finding unprotected files even when storage memory is equivalent to iPhoto. Wish more search options were available as in iPhone and wish iMessages included. I would recommend IDrive as my backup sues are nuances
Not user friendly
I wanted to switch out devices to backup. I found no way to do that.
Not a pleasant user experience
The service is a good value, but the iOS app has several annoying issues: - It can get stuck in a loop trying and failing to upload media it already uploaded (clear the cache in the app settings). - IDrive separates “devices” and “computers”. From a billing perspective this makes sense, but not from a functional perspective. The iOS app should not be limited to “devices” when you also have “computers”. It all feels like an artificial segmentation that has nothing to due with billing. They just don’t have a cohesive and efficient solution across the device apps, web, macOS, Windows, etc. - the iOS app doesn’t back up documents, only media, contacts, and calendar. This may be Apples fault, I don’t know.

Backup good / sync drive slow
Been using IDrive for several years on PC and they are great for keeping full data backups. Saved me a few times recovering lost files or previous versions. I tried also using the Sync drive component as a Dropbox replacement but found that it was comparatively slow/unreliable uploading and syncing across mobile devices compared to DB. So I completely ignore the drive sync part and just continue to use the actual backup component. So, I only wish they would make the sync drive an xtra option and give you the ability to just subscribe to Backup Only for a little cheaper cost. Then add on the sync as an option for a little more money -if- you choose to use it. Currently, subscription forces both backup/sync drive components on you and I feel I’m wasting a little bit of money on a sync component I’m not actually using. Having said all that, I will still continue to subscribe because the cloud backup service works great and has been very reliable for me.
Inconsistent
The iPhone app doesn’t have a great user interface. Status is hard to determine. It cycles through the backup multiple times. Repeatedly seeming to perform the same backup multiple times. The app quits and needs to be restarted most days.
Amazing potential
Not sure why the search is so slow and often never returns. It seems to backup just fine but unless you know right where the file is good luck. Maybe there is some assumption that you’re gonna leave this app running all the time so that it can stay in sync, but if it isn’t in sync, it should know that and go get a fresh copy of the index. Some small tweaks and it would be very awesome.

No files visible on my iPhone
Since getting a new windows 11 pc, I am unable to see my files on my iPhone. What happened???
Buggy
Update: turns out these guys are very responsive if you report an issue. While it’s been buggy, they’ve also turned around bug fixes pretty quickly and work with you to get it sorted out. Pretty cool Update: authentication failures all over the place, can’t write stable app. Makes me question keeping this. UPDATE: Having to regularly reinstall the app in order to see backed up files is getting highly annoying. Good service but app buggy. Have to uninstall every few months because it loses access to files and can’t see any backups or try downloading file and it’s corrupted. Reinstall fixes issue. Gets annoying.
To slow and must be open to work
I used to love this app/tool. Pictures upload really quick. However, videos take days and days and days to back up. Unless the app is open on my screen and I don’t use my phone for anything else is sloooowly will back up videos. Planning to uninstall on phone and home computer soon and move everything to Google backup.
What’s happening?
I just backed up iPhone. It said “All photos backed up.” I closed iDrive and restarted it. It found 4862 photos not backed up. I just backed up iPad. It said “All photos backed up.” I closed and restarted iDrive. It found 16 photos not backed up. I selected back up and it backed up 13 photos and said all photos were backed up. There weren’t any videos. This same sort of thing happens anytime I do a backup using iDrive.
IDrive is just great and works perfectly.
I have the 5 TB not limit machines package. I backup 4 laptops, a desktop and 3 phones. 2 iOS and 1 Android. I got locked out of my iCloud and Apple told me to recover my account would be 30 days. I canceled iCloud and moved to this on the spot. Recovered everything easily. I love it also because it has options like do not delete if missing. In other words when Apple delete a bunch of music from my computer because it was from my CDs and not their store. IDrive will not delete it from their cloud, thus it is saved. I have restored 2 full computer a from this. I 100% recommend.
Deleting
Paid for upgrade and now it’s saying you need to up grade . Then stop taking money out of my account 😡

Difficult to use!
Okay for what it is but missing functionality
Happy user of IDrive on my Macs and my wife's Macs. Today when I was out and about I got an email that there was an issue with a backup. So I thought, hey maybe there's an iOS app for iDrive so I can see what's going on. There is indeed but I can't find anything in it to check on the backup status of other devices. The app lets me back up my phone and access files backed up from my other devices. Nothing I need because iCloud. But I guess to access my backup logs I still need to use their website.

Gahh!
I just want to back up a given folder or SD card in a USB reader. The app won't let me choose a folder to back up! It insists on using Apple's silly media framework! Forget this, man.
Good Servicd
This is generally a good service. The problem is you can’t download individual folders or multiple photos together. This is really annoying. Also no duplicate file detection on occasions.
Could be better …
A better app that actually works would make this cloud service a solid choice for any user. Despite the good promo and offers but the app is useless as you cant take advantage of the service to its potential with the current app which is old looking, doesn’t load or stream content well, navigating your cloud within the app isn’t a great experience. Bottom line, this app gets you your stuff backed up but it could truly compete with other big cloud services if they could get a better app overall
What happened?
I was with carbonite for 15 years, until it became unusable, then tried a few others before settling on IDrive. At first it was great but lately something is up. It no longer updates regularly and prior versions are no longer stored. I have to delete the cache every time I use the app or it won’t give me the latest version of a document. It used to give multiple prior versions but now there is only one - which is always outdated. It also makes me put an emailed code in every day to “Trust this Device” which is supposed to be a one-time thing. Do the developers even use the product? What a joke it’s become. Will not be renewing.

This is a great app. Love it! Wish I had the cash to upgrade.
I made a mistake
I may have to go back to iCloud. I can’t open a file in the app like I did with iCloud and have it saved so that it syncs across all my devices.
Good but not great yet
Firstly if you have a lot to backup don’t bother with the upload as it’s very slow and will take forever but the good news is the express HDD delivery is a fantastic service and works well. Once they receive it back they get to work very quickly and copied all my backup into the cloud and it’s all encrypted.They kept me informed throughout the whole process by email. Once your backup is in the cloud you can then monitor the drive for changes but I have noticed not all the information from the incremental backup transfers correctly but hopefully this will improve over time. All in all for the price and space it is worthwhile and reassuring that you have another option for backup other than on external HDD. I think if they iron out all the issues and listen to their customer base and make the changes through updates. They have the potential to become the best backup service around for cost and storage space.
Intermittent issues still not resolved.
The overnight backup function that turns the screen black is a really good feature, when it works! Works on first install then never again. I have to reinstall the app each time to get it to work. After all these years, this issue is still unresolved. Frustrating. 1 star lost because it only works in the beginning and another 2 because this has been unresolved for years.
Basic app, doesn’t really back up the phone. But that could be apples limitations.
The app backs up the contacts, calendar, pictures and supposedly video. If I want any personal files or folders I have to. Is it the website from my phone browser and add them manually. Even then I have to add them file by file. The folder option doesn’t work in any browser. My phone ran short on memory and the Idrive app was using 17gb of memory. Multiple calls to tech support netted me no reason as to why or what information it was holding onto. I was told to log out, clear my cache and then log back in. I did and it came back. So I’m thinking it’s possibly data from failed backups. Which I’m scared to delete since I don’t know if the data is data that I’ve deleted already from my phone. So I carry 17gb of mystery data with me. .
Simple and efficient
Downloaded on my iPhone, my wife’s android, and my laptop. All three were backed up seamlessly. I have access to all three devices backups in the app. I love the piece of mind that years of our photos are safely backed up.
Poor customer-oriented safety strategy
Their whole security system hinges on an encrypted key. Key gone=all your data gone because there is no contingency plan for people being human. These young geeks think that everybody is perfect like them. But, are they perfect themselves? So, one has spare keys for contingencies when our keys are lost. Do these guys have a contingency plan for a lost key? Mind you the account was set years ago. Maybe an encrypted key wasnt required then? So, it is unusual that their system suddenly resets your domain, meaning that your data is ALL gone. I wouldnt even know how to reset the account. Yet, it was reset without my authorization. Attempts to log back in requires an encryption key… wtf… never needed one before. Of course, no idea what or where such might be, if there was ever one! This happened on my desktop. After exchanges with their cust svc, they proposed using “another machine” to log on, where iDrive was installed, since such would have the encrypted key. The interesting aspect is that the same problem popped up when attempting to log on with either of my two iPads and my iPhone. Now can someone tell why all of a sudden an iPhone or iPad from which I have logged on so many times without problems suddenly loose the encrypted key?! Interestingly enough, iDrive recognizes my iOS machines, but it only allows me to log on with a google acct, which I never used before for iDrive, and gives me the same amount of storage space I had contracted, but without paying, and, of course, there is no data stored at all… blank… But such is the case. The questions remain: 1) Who reset my account? 2) Will there ever be a human-oriented contingency plan for imperfect humans? 3) Since iDrive holds no data of mine, not by my choice, can I get my money back? 4) When was the last system update or hacker security violation?
Great on Mac, not so on iOS
Backup reliable on Mac. However since I turned on SSO / Auth the iOS app keeps asking me for my password & Auth code every 1/2 hour or so and isn’t backing up my photos. Not a massive problem as I sync my photos to iCloud and to my Mac so they get backed up there.

The main problem of this app is, there is no delete option or edit option

App on iphone and ipad not dependable. Works sporadically. Works well on Windows laptop that doesn’t use the app.
Wow!
After struggling with Backblaze for years and trying to decipher their confusing system with emails as the only form of contact, IDrive is proving to be a fantastic upgrade. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have a representative who will walk me through the steps on the phone. Heavenly!!!
Terrible App
For a few years the iDrive app on my iphone worked well. About a year ago while using the app it begin to crash unannounced right in the middle of a task without warning. I've tried everything, and I mean EVERYTHING to get the app to stop crashing. I contacted tech support and they determined that the reason for the app crashing didn't seem to be related to the app code itself but something with the iphone. Not knowing exactly what that meant or how to fix that I have simply stopped using the app. I can no longer get anything useful done with it before it crashes.
No FaceID Support
Passcode is so yesterday, please add FaceID support. It’ll make it easier to delete files, or stop asking for passcode each time we want to delete.
Useless app for restoring backup
Although the app is great for backing up the images & videos from my iPhone it is useless for restoring data. When the app is used to view backed up images or videos no thumbnails are displayed so I have no idea which image/video to select. Once a file is selected it does not display either so double useless. Please sort this to make me stay with iDrive.
Get what you pay for.
It can’t compete with the likes of Apple, Google or Amazon but for the price I didn’t expect it to. Automatic uploads from iOS are buggy and temperamental and ensure all your pics/vids actually are uploaded okay before doing anything with them. Even a few weeks on, not all of my gallery is backed up automatically even though it says it is. Manual uploads work fine as expected but not ideal to upload everything manually if you want to ensure they are backed up. Restores work well, gallery view is decent in the app too As an alternative to iCloud Photo Storage, it’s okay, nothing to shout home about but good for the price you pay.

Terrible app timeline stopped working no support
The timeline stopped working. They probably use a dark store for their data and this app does not retrieve files. Please, you are charging me, can you make this app work?
Good app with a shortcoming
Just signed up for Basic on my iPad. testing the photo backup and discovered a couple of shortcomings after 10 mins: 1 can’t search by file name. 2 by default does not backup original photo, only what is called good quality??
Ok but
I bought it as it describes itself as a mobile backup. It isn’t! All it does is backup photos, videos, calendar and contacts. About 40 mb in my case. I have another 50Gb of stuff that it does not touch. Including the key settings I need from a backup so that if I ever lose my phone I can restore it. The stuff it does, I already do with Dropbox for free. Save your money until it gets some useful features.
IDrive for iPhone & Mac
IDrive has a lot of catch-ups to do for it to be anywhere near Google! Sooner the Better! I have invested in the App, if see no improvement, next year would move back to Google.
