Serverprobleme des Spiegel
Seit mehr als 24 Stunden kann ich den Spiegel nicht mehr auf mein iPad oder iphone runterladen. Es kommt eine Nachricht von chapta, das der Server überladen sei.

I’ve been reading Der Spiegel since 1971, but the constant bombardment of flashing ads between paragraphs and end of article is a right bugbear. Do I really have to tolerate that when this is a very expensive subscription?!

Immer noch keine intuitive Bedienung
Leider - trotz vieler Nachbesserungen - ist die Spiegel App immer noch nicht intuitiv zu bedienen. Der Weg zu “alle Ausgaben 2022’ und “meine offline Ausgaben” ist unlogisch und erfordert zuviele Eingaben. Ausserdem klappt es noch immer nicht dass sich die app den zuletzt gelesenen Artikel merkt.
Great content, but soon all of it will be behind the paywall, at exorbitant fees
To me, Der Spiegel is one of the most balanced German new publications. I’d be willing to pay for it, but not hundreds of dollars a year, so I’m forced to just read the free content. That will soon be reduced to nothing as more and more of the meaningful content is high pay only.

But what amazes me about this publication is the worldwide accessibility of its articles and immediate translation to any language. A hurrah to a job well done.

Gut aber Bookmarks für Offlineausgaben fehlen
Ein hilfreiches Feature fehlt: die App sollte sich den zuletzt geöffneten Artikel der Offlineausgaben merken und automatisch dorthin zurückspringen anstatt auf Seite 1 zu starten.
Quality of articles has gone down over the years
Compared to 20 years ago, Spiegel articles more often than not lack depth but feed platitudes and preconceptions. If the reader expects surprising revelations, look elsewhere.

The app works fine but the amount of junk ads is annoying - especially for a paid subscription. 15-20 junk ads in every article, placed as click bait between paragraphs.

Manche journalistischen Kommentare sollten eigentlich unter Spiegel Niveau sein, würden besser zur BZ passen Können auch als Kriegstreiberisch gelesen werden. Mehr sachliche Nachrichten ohne persönliche Meinung wäre mehr angebracht. Leser können und sollten ihre Meinung selbst bilden .

Really terrible app
Unbelievably buggy and over designed. I’d rather have a simple app that works well. The saddest part is that Spiegel used to have this app (roughly 2 years ago). Then they decided to redesign it and add features that no one needs. It’s just so buggy now that I decide to cancel my subscription. So sad!

Inhalt gut, app schlecht.
Ich verstehe immer noch nicht warum ich einen Trailer am Anfang bei jeder Ausgabe wegklicken muss. Einmal die App zugemacht, komme ich nie wieder direkt zum zuletzt gelesenen Text. Beim lesen springt der Text rauf ind runter und auf den nächsten Artikel rüber. Andere Apps sind um ein vielfaches besser: FT, NYT, etc.
Verschlimmbessert
The German language has a word for what happened here: verschlimmbessern. It means trying to improve something but making it worse. The new app is so much worse than the old Spiegel app, which in my opinion was pretty close to perfection. The new app uses too many webviews (with Cookie dialogs and sign in prompts), is confusing to navigate (go back to content overview is on the right rather than the left) and does not feel like a native iOS app anymore. I wish I could still use the previous app, which was so good at the one thing it did: Offer the Spiegel magazine offline.
Good source of news outside of U.S.

Less and less free content
There’s less and less free content on this app. Mostly paid now. Yes, I know that quality journalism needs funding. But a news app should be more than just an advertiser for pay content. So I deleted the app.
Super app und beste News Seite mit einem Haken
Ist wirklich top und ich finde die +Artikel toll aber viiiiiel zu teuer. 10 pro Monat super aber das ist einfach zu viel. Sogar mehr als jede Woche die Printausgabe zu kaufen....

Seit vorgestern geht die App nicht mehr, die Anzeigen sind so platziert dass man nicht mehr scrollen kann. Stürzt auch ständig ab. Schwarzer Bildschirm. Danke nein, ich cancel mein Abo.

The Spiegel - a mirror for Germany
….what a terrible app! It takes ages to load downloaded magazines, no bookmarking functionality, the UI all over the shop. Seriously, this is the epitome of a failing Germany - old school, over-engineered, ‘komplett am Nutzer vorbei’. Take a look at the Financial Times app and you may find some urgently needed inspiration. Your developers need to be replaced asap.
Bleibt manchmal hängen
Ich nutze diese App seit vielen Jahren. Leider bleibt sie beim lesen manchmal hängen in letzter Zeit und der Inhalt der App wird komplett weiß. Ein erneutes öffnen ist erforderlich was natürlich nerven kann.

Best free app out there
Excellent balance and always the latest content - I read Spiegel Online every day. Free content has been greatly reduced recently so cannot award 5 stars.
Too busy
Vereinfachen Sie das Gesamtbild. Es gibt zu viele Details mit Werbung und sonstigem. Man weiß nicht mehr was was ist.
Nicht begeistert
Das neue Design finde ich weniger übersichtlich als zuvor und es scheint auch länger zu dauern die App neu zu laden. Die neuen Menüoptionen sind allerdings gut gelungen.
