Great practice for writing
Super for practising writing. Good quality app. I’d like a bit more time to consolidate the learning though and when the game speeds up it can lead to mistakes. Be nice to have it escalate some other way.
It’s good doesn’t want me to upgrade
Really good app, it helps you remember a lot of characters and learn then fast, BUT it doesn’t let me upgrade past HSK 1. My bank says it’s not them, Apple says it’s not them, I tried in all my devices and it doesn’t let me, I found ent fin your customer service place so I’m sorry to write it here but I really want to purchase it so please help me. I gave two because I can’t upgrade.

Pretty hard but good for learning Chinese

It's such a great app which is so helpful, thanks to dear provider. I upgraded the app on my iPad but it didn’t upgrade on my iPhone even though I’ve logged in with same account. The other thing I want to suggest to dear provider that is if you’re planning for another update Would you please plus combination of hanzi, I mean the words. I think it would be a great update. Thank you again for made study Chinese easier

I'm finally learning characters
Fun and low key enough that it's relaxing. I'm actually learning to write characters! After a long day at work it's important that studying is fun and not a chore. To be honest, I'm too tired after work to do mentally taxing work like study. This makes learning fun.
Start and end so different
This app the first time I did it it was absolutely amazing but as I keep going the app started to go wrong and I just can’t write 😡😡

Really love this app! For iPhone it’s 5 stars, but for iPad it’s 4 simply because the bottom bar with the information about the character cuts into the very bottom part of the character in game mode. Otherwise it’s perfect! Thanks for this awesome app
Where’s the support?
I bought an HSK pack and it doesn’t show up. I emailed tech support and they never answered. I like the app, but need a response

It’s a good app to learn the stroke order of words, but it sometimes glitches and it sometimes doesn’t recognise your writing even if you write the word correctly

Good but a bit boring
Good concept but major flaws
This app is a good concept, but there are major flaws. One of them being that you are unable to write the straight up to down stroke. For example the character 巨.

Title not able to sort base on alphabet. Cannot port data (words packages created) from ipad A to iPad B, have to use browser createvpackage, save into laptop, then transfer to google drive, iPad then open and export to Writer.
Syncing between devices
I would rate 5 stars but held back. Could you please add the restore purchase or a feature to sync between device? The app is incredibly helpful for me to remember the characters when I’m not using Chinese regularly in everyday conversations. However, I cannot unlock the full packagage on my ipad although I bought it on my iphone. Same appstore, apple account, and in-app account.

Hmm my mom wants me to learn Chinese but the order doesn't seem right for me tho just when I try to do some patterns I always am rushed and annoyed all I wanted was to do Chinese symbols but I got to worry about my time limit and it doesn't even show the order of the character! 😤😤
Limited use for a beginner
I am a beginner trying to learn Chinese and I was hoping to be able to learn the most common characters first. Unfortunately this seems to present mainly very obscure characters - 'Phoenix', 'relating to Phoenix', 'hairstyle used in medieval China' . Some of them even say they are hardly ever used! What's the point? I haven't come across any of the characters I am using in the excellent Chinese skill app

Please try and fix 巨 in traditional chinese
Good, but missing important functions
I like to use this app for practice and remember lots of characters but two important points must get better with an update: 1) currently full packs are only possible to learn with traditional characters. When switching to simplified, many characters will not be trained. This is a pity, as in china mainland you will see only simplified chars and will never recognize when just possible to learn with this app the traditional chars... When selecting simplified I expect to see all chars in training, and not just a small subset... 2) this is not that important now, but other apps are providing that... the writer training provides just "typewriter" characters (hard strokes), the written character Fonts would be more nice. When I write the chars from this app, my Chinese teacher sometimes says, a real unusual handwriting I create, as everything is very hard and not smoothly written. So something to improve in this app esp. when I need to pay so much for it. Afterwards I'm willing to give my full recommendation.

Not that great for actually learning Chinese. Starts with very conflicted characters, not for beginners.

Terrible
Rubbish app, you don't know where to start when drawing the characters so it keeps saying that you've got it wrong. You also don't have enough time to view the name/translation of the character, so you don't learn anything. Complete waste of time and very poorly made app.

The thing is I know I got the character right but if my finger goes off a bit it says it’s wrong so I hope you could fix that but still an amazing app.
cool app, terrible customer support
Ive used this app and think its quite useful. Recently I've had problem with the app on my new phone.. I tried to contact customer support four different times but without reply for a month.. Still haven't received a reply.. App support is terrible. Still can't use the app on my new phone.. Bummed
Problem with packs
Once I buy a new pack... I can't just select it, but have to create a custom pack... This is quite annoying.
Highly Effective System
I’m very thankful for this app. The additional $7.99 purchase is 100% worth it. Not only the creator built an organized system where it’s easy to look for specific words, they also make it easy to group the vocabulary & practice writing in a game. I gotta say this app is the best tool I’ve found so far in learning Chinese, especially in writing. The only down side is some words keep repeating too often and some others don’t pop up at all in game practice. I hope eventually they’ll build an extensive randomness in word falling down which would include all the words I’ve chosen. Bottom line, id rate this app 9/10.
Crashes all the time
I cannot even get the app to load (iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4S). Trying to use it with companion app trainchinese. Disappointed.
Great to character practice
This is the best game I have found for character practice. I basically ignored stroke order in class and never studied it but after playing this game over and over I simply learned from my mistakes. It's simple, write in wrong order and it will buzz you. Quick and FUN way to learn. Please add a feature to not write two character words but to just see an example of a two character word as we write one of the characters. Thanks for your time in this great app!
I want to love it- Not from a university student
I really do want to like this app. It's a great idea and very engaging but.... there are some serious flaws. The biggest problem is with the stroke order and direction. The strokes within Chinese characters are written generally left to right top to bottom. This app however wants you to draw some of them in weird order. It wants all of the horizontal strokes that tilt up to be drawn from right to left which is dead wrong. It may not sound important to some and may not be important to those who just want to recognize the characters but for those of us who want to know how to accurately draw chinese characters this is a huge oversight. This app needs an update desperately. How can you make an app to teach people how to draw characters and then teach people the wrong way of doing it? I've been self studying chinese for 2 years now. I still consider myself a beginner but I know enough to know this app will teach you bad habbits.
Beautiful...but buggy
This is a great way to learn characters, in sharp contrast to staring at flash cards. This app teaches stroke order, pronunciation, and meaning at the same time, though with more of a priority on the first two. The problem is the app crashes frequently, such as when pressing a button to review a word. All of a sudden I'm looking at my iPhone's home screen. They'll get five stars when they fix this.
Really great app! (One small glitch)
I love how the character packs are separated by HSK level and and you can choose between writing simplified or traditional characters for free. I just noticed one small glitch: In the review of characters played in the game, the link to the Train Chinese companion dictionary app isn’t working correctly. It does open the dictionary, but it searches for a number code instead of the character itself. I think the link to the dictionary is a very helpful idea, so I’d love for it to be fixed. Overall great app, though!
UI is Terribad
Why is the background spinning? Are you trying to make me dizzy, because this literally is the worst idea ever. I want to strangle whoever thought of this.

it's a great concept but you should offer character packs for medical terminology: anatomy (which can be broken down to bone structures and musculature or specific body anatomies), diagnoses, treatments, the different specialties, etc.; legal terminology: criminal, civil, business, tax, etc.; business terminology: IT, marketing, administrative, etc.
Game drills stroke order, but not learning characters themselves
If you wanted a game that will add Chinese characters to your vocabulary, this isn't it. In fact, the game actually discourages it, since you are penalized for taking any extra time when writing the character -- so you can't stop and read the pronunciation or definition, you just blindly trace character after character. It will not improve recognition or recall of characters. It *will* drill you very well on stroke order and direction, so if that's what you're learning, get this. If you actually want to increase your character vocab, try Skritter or something.
best app for chinese learner
My daughter of 7 is addicted to this app. I love how it enforces the stroke order and makes the practice fun and challenging. Cannot ask for a better app.
Failed to deliver
I don't know what is the purpose of this App. How are we going to learn by speeding up the time so fast? There is also no guide on how to write if we enter wrongly.
Well executed
A good app for recognizing Hanzi, with a small game that increases speed of recognition. Better than a regular flashcard system since it is interactive. Drawing accuracy (adherence to lines) is sufficiently wide not to infuriate you - unlike others I've tried. Some characters appear a little 'illogical' in drawing - but overall pretty good. I probably write 'the lazy way' and not necessarily following brush strokes! Overall a useful tool that will have you scribbling away for hours!
