Terrible site
Second time I subscribed to read about all my fav Cleveland teams. But Every time I try to read a subscriber story, I have to sign in and even then it won’t let me read the article and keeps taking me back to the sign in page. This is the second time this has happened, same issues. So, for the second time, I’ll cancel my subscription. This app blows.
What used to be free…. Ain’t no more
Sucks the entire website cost $$ used to like keeping in touch with a city I came to love after years of traveling to but never lived in… sad but oh well

The prior version was slow and glitchy. The latest iteration is a significant improvement in virtually every way.
Biased Reporting
The PD and Cleveland.com have fallen prey to the affliction of TDS. I am no fan of President Trump, but our only print news source in Northeast Ohio has swung far left. If only we could see both sides from a local perspectve.
App freezes
The content is great but the screen often freezes so you can’t scroll and have to close and re-open it. If that was fixed I would rate it 5 stars.

Excessive cost
I have far too many interests to pay this much to read Cleveland sports news. I’ll just take what I can get for free elsewhere.
New format
I’m still working my way around the site’s new format. I was happy with the old one, but I’m sure this will Just take some getting used to.
Buggy
It’s great that you added an ability to enlarge text. But you didn’t actually bother to test it. Otherwise you’d see that titles don’t actually wrap to fit the mobile window properly. Local community news (sun messenger, for example) is still really hard to find. I’d think a local newspaper would make it easy to find local news. And if I’m paying for this why are you serving ads? :(

Bring back the comments for news and sports articles. The chat during live games was awesome. Please bring it back, thank you.

Unless your a subscriber do not download this app. Every article is behind a paywall.
iPad
Long time user of app, primarily because of sports teams. But this app is the most clunky, frustrating app I use as a paying subscriber. The channel selection works once, then I have to get out of app and go back in. One thing that always works great though is their offers for discounted subscriptions and ads.
Their app works HORRIBLY
Click on an article and it’ll either throw you back to your Home Screen, spin for a long time and then say “fetching post”, make you wait some more, then either throw you back to Home Screen, bring up the wrong article or - oh so rarely - bring up the right article. I’ve written to the 5 times about this. No one helps, no one cares.
It’s Better
It’s a great app for me, living abroad, to keep up with all things current in Cleveland. The only issue I have is that the “refresh” seems to take forever. Lately though, it seems to refresh a lot quicker.

Pretty quick to load for offline reading. Some duplicates in the news because of several papers but still brilliant to follow what's up in CLE.
New App
I wish I could go back to the old format. It was so easy to navigate. The new app is very frustrating. If I could give it a zero, I would. I will not be renewing Cleveland.com
Extremely slow
The app is incredibly slow to respond. You tap an item, and you may have to wait 5-10 seconds for a response. You’re better off using the website.

Poor performance
Seems to lockup my iPhone. Affects other apps too with sluggishness until I kill it.
Nope
not even going to complain about how much of it is behind a paywall now. That part I get. The part that makes this app so bad is that it frequently crashes without even opening, and when it does open moves painfully slow.
Keeps crashing
I have a tough time getting the app to load then once loaded it crashes. Being out of town I still enjoy the writer’s but it’s getting tough to continue using.
Keeps getting worse.
6/29/26: Months after the below review, is that it’s gotten worse! I will keep dating comments to keep track. I really want support local news coverage, but Cleveland dot com wants to chase me away. Aside from the poor news coverage and an increasing reliance on AI slop, the app is less and less functional. When my subscription is up, I’m done.
Subscriber exclusives stil don’t open
For about 3 months after I became a PAID subscriber I could read those articles. Now I keep getting messages that I need to subscribe. What a rip off!
Worst app by far
The 1 star is for content, which I enjoy and pay for. What’s frustrating part is this app doesn’t let you get to the content. It’s slow, locks up and constantly tests your patience to use.
App constantly freezes
The app will be working fine then in the middle of an article it will lock up not allowing any navigation. This happens repeatedly and requires you to close and reopen the application. This is terrible for a subscription service.
Slowest app ever
It takes forever to launch and load pages.
Terrible Refresh Rate
The site is terribly slow with updating the news story list, and when a specific article is selected. I do have an older phone (7Plus), however this is not an issue with other apps, including from other newspapers.

The app takes minutes to open. Latest updates have made it garbage to open it and use it quickly. Please fix this issue already
