Can’t save photos to IPhone
There is a save button and o thought with the $4.99 fee I could actually file a Saved photo to my photo file. Lots of choices to send it places but not save it where it belongs, with my other photos. Why would this be? Control? Over my work?
Powerful but needs more functions
This is a powerful "painter" rendering engine, but I can only give it 4 stars because of the lack of user options. At a minimum there should be: • a "backup" slider that allows a user to adjust the amount of any effect, from 100% to 0%. If I find a look I like but it is too heavy, I should be able to reduce the effect until I'm happy with it. • an "undo" button that lets me step back through the last 5 - 8 changes, in cases where I need to go back in my experiments with color, density, saturation and etc. Sometimes I forget where I was, and need to jump back a step or 5. • a page of example photos that give me a general idea of how a change would look; by clicking on an example, my current work in progress would be rendered with the same presets, which I might never duplicate on my own. This list of functions would, in my view, greatly enhance the power of the app by giving more creative control to those who want it, while leaving the mostly click-and-watch functions to users who are satisfied with a mostly automated rendering function. Thanks for making this app available!
Minimal control
This is a canned app that applies effects across and entire photo instead of allowing you to paint the photo with more or less details in the areas you want. I suppose for those that want instant gratification, this is OK; but, I need a dedicated and robust painting tool. An example is CleverPaint; but, its developer is apparently not supporting it in iOS12. A real shame.
Mittelmaß
Nicht wirklich als Ölgemälde zu verstehen und die Feinabstimmungen nützen auch nicht viel. Allerdings taugt der Zufallsgenerator sehr gut um eigene Vorlagen, Texturen etc. für weitere Arbeiten zu erstellen. Erspart die kommerzielle Verwendung der Texturen anderer Massen Apps und sind auch noch Unikate. Drei Sterne dafür!!!

Die App verspricht Bilder wie Ölgemälde aussehen zu lassen, leider sehen die Bilder aus als wäre der Maler blind gewesen oder 7 Jahre alt. Absoluter Schrott.....💩🔫

Reviewing it just after purchase will probably have to delete it by the looks if it, doesn't even load photo just crashes so don't waste your money, apple should ban these kind of rip of merchants

Works as advertised
If you like the look of turning your photos into oils, this app works fine. It does exactly what it purports itself to do. And the interface is good and intuitive. I just find myself bored with the results, even with the watercolor upgrade which I bought. I thought I would get more mileage out of it, but most if the time I just find myself preferring the results of another photo-to-paint app called Painteresque. This in spite of the fact that this one has much more control over the painting parameters. This is strictly a personal aesthetic. Your mileage may vary.

I have really enjoyed this app. Great tool for editing when you don’t feel like going into Photoshop.
App doesn't work
I've deleted this app and reinstalled it and it's been no help. This app doesn't work. Perhaps it's an issue with the upgrade to ios 7. The app will open but nothing else. I'm greeted by a blank screen with menu options I can't select and except for a close icon box. I tap on it and that allows me to tap on the open photo button but the only result of that is to revert to the close button icon. Simply, the app doesn't appear to work at all at present.
Good App
I use it allot and like it. Wish there was a revert botton and bit faster at saving. Otherwise great app that i hope gets lots of updates.
Poor
Very poor, it's just a range of adjustable filters that don't really look like 'oil paint' at all, they generally just pixellate the photo and blur the borders. Wasted £1.79 on this app as there are plenty that do the same things for a lot cheaper.
A little disappointed
The free version fills my iPad screen. The paid version has more features but registers only iPod size on my iPad. Disappointing.
Great inspiration
I have purchased most of the apps in this family and find them all to be enjoyable for manipulating photographs before I pull out my paints and put my own spin on it. Its like visual brainstorming. They are also fast to reply with questions and problems. I own both the IOS and desktop apps and have only had to contact them once, but the reply was within and hour and the problem resolved right away. Awesome apps and company. (I recommend Impresso Pro and Aquarella too.)

Great effects and easy to work with!
Great but needs more customisation
I own all 3 of the 'Artista' series. This one (Oil) produces the most realistic oil effect available on the app store. If you really experiment with the small amount of customisation options then you'll soon be churning out brilliant results which can be made even better when combined with other app like 'Filterstorm' and that is where the app suffers. The customisation options are fairly basic. I want to be able to show really big thick strokes of oil, effect the colours of only certain portions of the picture. A "must have" feature would be to be able to paint on the desired portion of the picture with your fingers in the same vein that the colorsplash app enables you to paint on color (colour). Also with this app you can purchase the other apps in the series (Of which Haiku is the best by far and a 5* app). However I already own the Atistasketch app and cannot import it into this one without buying again? And similarly have (in app) purchased the Haiku app from within this one and cannot review it despite it being a 5star app that deserves way more recognition. Just a though. All in all, a little expensive but the best about. Also Great when combined with other app. Maybe give me gift me the seperate version of Haiku app that I've already purchased within this app so that I can review and give it a the 5 star rating it deserves yeah? ;) Messy Vignette

Formerly amazing - now doesn't work on iOS 6
Won't open photos from my library ------- Previous review Not just a gimmick. It seems to identify the subject and intensify it while knocking out the irrelevant details. Useful and good value. Note it produces high-res output unlike some of the 'toys'.

Yeah,
Yeah, quite good. You can't see the painting styles' difference from each other, and it re-renders every time you look at it, but it's alright. Auto paint is more fun, if a little basic.

Quite disappointed. It's not very user friendly and the sample pics don't really reflect what you really see when you actually use the app. Maybe if the developer included some tutorials or sample default settings it would be better. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what looks good...if there's anything that WILL look good. Like I said - so glad I waited till it was $0.99...though I still am annoyed I had to pay for this. Don't even want to give it a star but I had to.
Curious about update
I have been a great fan of this app for quite some time now. As I've written previously, the oil renderings are true works of art ( although I'm not such a fan of the Haiku and Sketch options- hence my rating of only four stars). I'm of the school "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and therefore I am a bit apprehensive about the latest update which was issued today. I am most eager to hear from other users about their experiences with this update, so I am going to put off updating until I can learn more.

This no so good as others products of this company, like Vintage Scene, but with patience adjusting the parameters is posible to obtain nice results. Tough, i prefer other apps where there is more control, like photo viva or artist´s touch, but here the procces is much longer.

It's a great concept to have an oil-painting app. But the rendering time is toooooo much!!!! Anyway, if u have plenty of time to wait for outcomes, then get this one. Overall, great oil-painting app.!!!
