What they complain about

- Packs fail to download or restore
- App crashes when opening photos
If you love to edit
It takes a deft hand and keen eye but this is one of the most useful editing apps available. Top notch. Get all the packs.
Horrible
If you’re not tech savvy then you’re not going to figure out how to use it. I paid 14 bucks to get this app and I can’t do anything with it.
Not restoring.
New iPhone 16 Pro. Birds Like Snow, Spirit of the Trees are not restoring. Error message says there’s a problem with internet connection or storage, but both are fine.
Opening photo crashes app
I loved using this app for adding that “distressed” look to images. Unfortunately, when attempting to open a photo, the app (iPad Pro) immediately crashes. I have restarted, deleted and reinstalled, to no avail. It’s unfortunate that I paid for the service and am no longer able to use it. Hopefully a fix for this issue will be released soon, as my iPad is up to date, and so is the app.
Has been ...
02/04/2025 App has now started giving download errors on the bird packs which is really irritating. I’ve reinstalled etc but no joy :( cannot find anyone to talk to either - hello, hello?!! A great app but no development or updates. I've written to the dev regarding another issue but have received no response from her what so ever, so I don't hold out much hope of this getting fixed anytime soon! I've purchased both full versions and all expansion packs.
Creative delicate editing
This is a gorgeous app by a woman who loved her peacocks and art.
I paid for this app and it crashes too
I just bought this distresses plus app because the cheap version crashes when I try to upload a photo, and i thought the paid version was going to be good for the 13 dollars I paid for it and it also crashes when I try to upload a photo, WTHECK! Too bad because the app effects are good.
Really amazing
But please fix the bugs. When you first download it, you will have to do it several times before all of it takes. Even if you paid for the full version. This gets frustrating when you have several devices.
Impossible to download the new Packs
I tried everything but the Pack always shows 0,00 € and there is no way to download them… can you please help? Otherwise the App is great… It’s now January and it still doesn’t work 😓
Can‘t download parts of the birds
I use Distressed FX and Distressed FX Plus for years. Lately, after I got a new iPhone I couldn‘t download the white birds and the trees anymore. I already wrote to the creators, but nothing happened yet. Please please repair this
Cube icon doesn’t respond
When a picture is taken in portrait with iPhone camera and you proceed to Distress FX Plus window, the text “photo can be masked using depth based data in this photo” doesn’t appear in upper left hand corner. The icon for the “cube” is greyed out and doesn’t respond for text to appear nor does the arrow in the upper hand corner appear so you can flip the texture in back or front of the subject. I thought you might like to know of the problem so this issue can be addressed. I got in touch with the person who created a video explaining Distressed FX Plus and while the “cube” worked for him when he produced the video, it no longer works for him on the iPhone 15. Distressed FX is a great app and am happy with the results I get but just thought you might want to be aware of this bug. Henriette
My trees won’t load
I do love the distressed look on my pictures, but find it very frustrating that the trees will not load, I have paid for distressed fxplus and I have loads of space on my iPad. I have messaged the owner, but no response…feeling frustrated!
Just started using it
Just started using it and it’s a lovely simple app with lots of presets & once you figure out how you can adjust the level of the look it is great fun to use. It can add with some trial & error some nice artistic touches to a photo.
Saddened 😫
Having used distressed Fx for many years, and having recently bought Distressed Fx+ Saddened that it is pushing me, on both apps now to upload straight away to instagram with seemingly no option to turn this option Off, or ability to tell the app Dont ask me again, Are these options avalible? If not,im sorry to say I will be uninstalling these apps with deep regret for what was once a beautiful and simple thing
Masking no longer works
I love this app. It is my go to for enhancing my photos. However in the last several months I can no longer use the masking option. I reached out to the company and they said they would look into it. I have never heard back. It’s frustrating not being able to use it to its full capacity.
Buy it…
This app does all the heavy lifting for your creative desires. Easy to navigate and deceptively simple interface… well done!
The Airbrusher
This used to be a 5 Star for be but I’ve already brought everything and it won’t download the packs and if I try to rebuy them it says I’ve already paid for them but won’t let me change any of the other packs etc ! The restore doesn’t work, removing and redownloading doesn’t work…
Very useful 👍🏼
A great app. Some really good effects possible (having fun experimenting). One thing that lets itself down though is the inability to Zoom into the photo. The main selling point for me was the masking feature, but not being able to ‘zoom in’ makes this procedure a bit awkward & not precise enough. Nevertheless, money well spent. Hopefully the ability to zoom into the picture will be added in a future version 🤞🏻
Where are the birds????
After updating my phone, when I try to put in the birds or trees, nothing shows up. Everything else seems to be working ok.
Misleading
There isn’t any real difference between the new and the old version. The images here give you the impression there is a cut and paste feature. The only difference I can see between the two apps is the free packs add-ons. Not really worth $12.
Nice
Very interesting
Once upon a time, I loved this app…
Update: 04-May-2022 Finally gave up and deleted the app. It became frustrating not being able to use it. Buy with caution. Once upon a time, I loved this app… I’ve owned it since its inception and for years it was a part of my editing protocol. Then another app became my go to, and for a year or two I stopped using this. Recently, I opened the app and saw what appeared to be some lovely updates. Unfortunately not one will download onto my iPhone without error messages telling me they’ve corrupted and to remove and reinstall the app. I’ve done this more than a dozen times, as well as written for customer support l, all to no avail. I guess she’s no longer supporting DistressedFx+ and it’s sad. This time, when I delete it, I won’t try again. I assume it’s a dead app. Sadly. Don’t waste your time and money. I hope I hear to the contrary, but I won’t hold me breath.
To expensive
I already bought all filters including the distressed fx app. There are some new features in this plus version. If I hadn’t bought the filters in the old app then this price was okay.
Still needs some work
It can be a great app, but it’s not yet finished. On the iPad resizing birds or trees doesn’t work very well, the range seems limited. Masking is very also very crude. But, really love the concept. Let’s hope she will update and improve the app a bit more.
One of the best apps
I’m constantly using this app. It’s my go to for every photo edit. I get so many compliments on my photo edits thanks to you the developers.
Not happy
I hadn’t used it for a while do I deleted it so I had extra storage on my phone. Re- installed it and clicked restore. I’ve tried several times to resolve the bug on their app. Bought nearly all the packs on plus. It keeps telling my to delete and re-download. The developers keep telling me it’s apples fault. Apple are saying it’s the developers fault. Don’t bother, it’s a con.
Awesome, But I would get a bit back with an interface.
The app is great, and I would gladly give 5 stars but I wish it will be an option to see textures and gels like it was in the first versions - as preview of current or even background (default) picture. Even better if an option to switch type of preview - modern (texture only) / old - texture applied to image was present.
Almost
Nice app. But since you can apply layers you should have a brush so you can mask off areas where you don’t want the texture. That’s basic so I’m surprised you did not include it.
Great Photo Editor
I love this - purchased all the packs in support of developers but also because they’re all so much fun and really creative. It gives the user the ability to tell stories with their pics. Thanks for this great and amazing app
Shuts down and doesn’t work anymore
They had a recent update. Now, when I select a photo from my album, the apps (both Distressed FX and Distressed FX+) just shut down. Broken app.
Great App but dying for erase option
Really love this app as it has elevated some of my abstract botanical artwork easily with a quick and intuitive interface. My wish list to make this 5 star, would be to add the ability to erase portions of my layered photos and possibly even the fX layers. This would allow me to accentuate / reveal portions of the underlying photo that currently end up with unwanted shadows or glare after just the right amount of blending / dissolving. Thank you for your time and efforts.
Very nice
I love it.
My most used app BUT
I upgraded from the original fix today via my IPad but it didn’t get stored in my iCloud just like every single app I’ve ever purchased, so I’m getting a prompt to purchase again on my phone. What’s up with that? Surely users don’t have to make two purchases to use on two different devices.?
Needs some tweaks
New app doesn’t recognize previous purchases so you have to start from scratch.-not happy. Also would really like a layer brush to paint effects in some areas rather than entirely of photo.
Superb!
Wonderful!!! 😇😇😇
App does NOT work and developer doesn’t fix
I select one of my images from the camera roll, OR, take a photo. To no avail. The screen is not responsive to selections. The stock photo that comes with the app (of a cow) works to modify with the effects, but not when I use one of my own photos. I paid $9.99 for this app and want a refund. Not happy. If I could give zero stars I would. Developer does not respond to emails
So fun!
I’m really enjoying Distressed Fx. I don’t buy too many apps but this one is special. I like to play around with all the overlays and textures and create digital art out of my photos. Great app!!
Not happy
Just down loaded no instructions seems to have trouble taking things out of photo library and editing Will play with it some more and then I add to review
