Wonderful way to bring people together
I like having friendly people to do activities with. And Meetups are perfect for that.
Ads and bad event recommendations
Can’t find anything near my hobbies or fun and I live in a big city.
Great for connections, needs bot cleanup
To be fair, this app actually delivered on the main thing; met people I genuinely click with, which is rare. But there are some things are killing the experience: The algorithm keeps showing me women-only events even though it clearly knows I’m a guy. Like why am I seeing events I literally can’t attend by their own rules? Feels like a filtering bug that should’ve been fixed ages ago. The job scam bots are out of control. Constantly getting spammed with “make $1k/week remote, just click this link” nonsense from sketchy sites. It’s everywhere and makes the platform feel unsafe. Please get some actual filters/moderation going to catch these before they flood every group. Fix these two and this easily becomes a 5 star app.
Pay money for human connection
It’s like dating apps but for human connection. I ran a 600 person group on on here for years before the hefty fees got to me. On the attendee side of things I think its a great app though
Too expensive
This app has become too expensive. Maybe offer a lower priced version or a free version like at one time you did. You can charge a price to people who want to list an event and maybe a free version for those just looking for events. It’s now out of my price range so I will delete it .
Insufferable
There’s paywalls and then there’s Meetup paywalls. What are you doing? It feels like a work i should be paid for - closing all your paywalls

Fine but I have suggestions
It is ok but it would be vastly improved by a few additions. One is the option to say “not interested” to certain groups or types of events. Also, it would be great if the app could remember my settings, like “in person only”.

Too many taps to get to events
I’ve been a member for about 17 years. In that time, the price has gone up roughly 500%, but the app has gotten harder to use — it now takes 4-5 taps to get to my own groups because of promotional content and member-contact prompts in the way. Could you pass this along to the product team: please add a way to default to “My Groups” instead of the discovery feed, and reduce the number of steps to reach content I’ve already joined. Also, as a member, not a host, we used to be able to access some basic info about riders (cycling clubs) to determine if it was a good fit. Now we need to pay monthly for that information. Great app for finding local meetups
Unauthorized charges!!
Completely unscrupulous company charged me TWICE on the same day for a subscription I NEVER authorized. Already filed a dispute. These guys need to be banned from App Store. Old review: Like Evernote, Bending Spoons take over an app and community and jack up all the prices, adding “features” nobody wants.

App has become expensive, full of spam (including their ads). Definitely used to be better now I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone
Convenient and accessible
Wonderful thought and so is the implementation of this product. Helped me and my friends to connect with new people. Technically the app is very smooth and sound.

I am seeing html in the text notifications for meet up events like the bold text tags
Too many requests to pay money
This “upgraded” app keeps trying to make people pay to join … what I thought was a “free” service. The organizer fees have doubled w/ less helpful customer service!

Increasingly unfunctional
It went downhill within 1.5 years, charged for previous basic functions, app was not doing what it said it would with organiser or pro function. Cost went up for nothing new. It was after 3.5 years, i decided to end my time with the app. Incredibly clunky and unnecessary first it was matching and connecting and then ads. Move on
Only for Americans
This app is only suitable for users in the US. You can't search for locations in the UK at all; the results are all in the US.
Unrealistic groups
The app is very user unfriendly. There are groups on there that are on in the evening but if you toggle evening groups, nothing appears. I was thinking about creating my own group, but that is impossible. The events that are being cast on there are really nuts. I seriously don't wanna climb up a mountain and I don't wanna go on a 25 mile bike ride. I also don't wanna get involved in other peoples religious beliefs, and the groups that were slightly interesting to me were all online. I thought the principal creation of Meetup was so that you actually meet up with people in real life. I was on Meetup about six years ago and it was great because there were some people I got to know quite well. I left it though because my circumstances changed and I've recently come back to it and seen how awful it is now. To be honest I'm thinking of just deleting my profile again and joining groups on Facebook or other social sites that create events that are not so wacko... after all I don't want to end up in hospital or debate with the crazies!
Crashes?
I loved using this app, but now every time I try to sign up for an event the app crashes. I even updated my phone and it didn’t do anything. Is anyone else having this issue??

RIP to my meetups.
Paying to use the site makes it inaccessible to those on a limited income. Especially when some groups also require money. I used this app so much to find new groups, not sure where to go now.

Mail link doesnt navigate/deeplink to iPhone App
From meetup mails which i click meets link it opens in browser, where i need to login every time. If app is installed in device, then mail link should navigate/deeplink to iPhone App.
Cannot Login
I have had an account for years that the app logged me out of and keeps saying "login error" which is their error not mine. Will not complete password reset etc. Im so delighted to be paying for this yet unable to access my account. I will be cancelling if they ever accept my email address - the same email they use to about 4x per day to keep me informed of the group events I can no longer get into. Meetup is quickly becoming a has-been
Notifications don’t go away once read
Please can you sort out the notifications?! They don’t go away even though you’ve looked at the notifications so now I have allegedly tons of notifications still to process when I don’t - this wasn’t a problem before

Le concept est sympa et permet de rencontrer du monde. Parfait pour les expat. Un peu cher pour être organisateur quand notre but n’est pas professionnel! Incredibly difficult to navigate or do anything on the app anymore due to constant pop ups and adverts. I had not used the app in a while so I had to recreate some profile details that I had previously done, and despite following a link from a webpage it took me almost ten screens of pop ups to get to the event I was trying to RSVP to

Good community, poor app
Meetups are great, but the app and website are not. Pretty poor usability (no way to filter out all those 1 people “bachata classes” semi ads, no way to properly sort, search function for groups often won’t find them even when you know 80% of the group’s name). Also their premium plan is nonsensically expensive, this is not a dating app
Good for events, too many scammers though
It’s a good app for events but lately, SO MANY scammers have been posting in groups. And in spite of reporting them several times, the same accounts show up and meetup wont block them.
