Sections
But I don’t Ike he new format. Less scrolling, less information.
$15 a month??!!!
My husband just infyme we are paying $15 a month for digital access. Sorry not worth it to me.
Review of app and more than the app the content
The app itself is fine to navigate and move around on. However, the stories remain skimpy as they’ve been the last few years. We see the same story 34 maybe five times. The sports commentators it’s all one not more now.
Worst app going
Constantly failing login, which it demands. It’s a Mickey-mouse operation the reflects the incompetence of the provider
Notifications are pointless
Clicking on notifications of breaking news from the app do not take me to the app. They take me to the website where I have to login to read the news. This is pointless. What’s the point of having an app send me notifications if it doesn’t take me to the app? Every other newspaper I subscribe to has figured this out, but not the Post Gazette. This is frustrating and it’s easier to go to another news source.
Toilet paper
What a liberal rag can’t wait for May 3 when it disappears
Can’t get content
I love the PG and the app for years ran flawlessly. But now I can’t log in and just get error message about the content not downloadable, check internet connection. Please fix and give me my beloved PG back. Plus I am paying for an online subscription I can’t really use.
No way to read comments
I haven’t discovered a way to read the comments on articles on the app, nor to post comments.
Complaint
I pay for a subscription.
Frustrating
One of the best daily news sources around but by far the buggiest app on my phone. The page freezes and random re-starts make it unreadable many days.
Sad about losing city paper
Love having a city paper!!! So sad they are closing. We wanted to get a daily paper delivered at a decent rate when we moved here 8 years ago from York PA. Originally from Chicago. Weird delivery schedule so we did online. Very sad for the generation who grew up with a physical paper. Sign of the times 😢
Content no longer visible
All of a sudden and can’t view any content on my iPad Pro 11” M4. Keep getting the message, “No content available for this page” I also am not able to get up-to-date content on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I don’t know what’s going on, but I can’t get any support either. Click the link on the App Store site for support and I get an Error 404 page on PG’s website. Terrible experience.
Great
It is a amazing app. It helps me get my news in just seconds. I would totally recommend this app.
Outside US access
I don’t seem to enable to use the viewer outside the US
Hope
One of the great newspapers in America. Hopefully a group of investors will respond. There cannot be a news outlet anywhere that covers local high school sports like the PG. One of the many reasons that PG needs investors. Mr. Nutting are you interested in helping save the PG?
No dark mode
How can you not implement dark mode? This is just one of many features lacking. I pay for a subscription for the content - it’s a shame there isn’t a better app to read it with.
Confusion
Logging is confusing when you have never sign up for one. I never signed up for one and I cannot get full access on articles.
PG is great
This is a great newspaper I have read since childhood. Sportswriters are terrific. I’m saddened that they will be shutting down in May. This was one way to stay in touch with the city you love when you live far away. Thank you for the years of service to the Burgh and for all the memories I have thanks to your coverage.
Stopped allowing login
Have used this app for several years on iOS but the login functionality no longer works.
Cannot display letter, editorials
This app is broken. It will not load many sections, including the letter and editorials sections. The “original” app, available here, is the only one that works well.

I will truly miss thePG
No NewsSlide???
The newest update of the PGe app got rid of the NewsSlide, and this new version is almost unusable. Very hard to read, slow to load, and generally clunky. We are subscribers to the PG, but will probably cancel because this new version is so customer-unfriendly
Sloppy app needs improvement
The Post-Gazette brings solid reporting and a breadth of regional coverage, but sadly the app is a mess. From an iffy search engine to the way going back to the same article counts multiple times against your free article limit, the app remains a mess and continues to lag behind so many other apps for newspapers of this circulation size.
I’ll miss this little newspaper when it’s gone …
I’m going to miss it … the Trib is no substitute for
Logs you out
The PG is a decent news source. Unfortunately their app is not that great. It doesn’t keep the user logged in, so there is a constant wondering if you are still logged in until you get the notification that you have X free articles remaining for the month. The app sends you push notifications, but when you click on them it takes you to the website instead of the app. The website then requires you to log in. The push notifications should take you to the article in the app.
Popups & stale news
I already pay for your service... why the need to bombard me with pop up ads for the News Slide app? Give it a rest, I have that app and don’t like it! Also I don’t want to see stale “Editor Picks” every time I open up the app. It shouldn’t be a multi-click process to get the latest news.
Sad it’s being shut down
Sad the trust fund babies who own the gazette who have done nothing but benefited from Their ancestors hard work can’t spare a few bucks to keep the paper running. God forbid being worth less than $100 million a year would destroy their lives. Incredibly selfish babies who think of no one but themselves.
Horrible New Version
Ap freezes up more than 50% of the time. Have to delete reinstall. .. when it works it is great. Worst ap ever …paying $8/ month !!!!!! If I had another choice for Pittsburgh News would terminate .. try to a live person at the paper to discuss !!
Lackluster not very well thought, disappointing.
As a long-time reader and fan of the PG, I am thoroughly disappointed in this app. It's as if it was written by someone's kid as a middle-school project. It does not perform its primary mission - to present a usable app version of the newspaper. It only loads a select number of articles from the paper. It has no search function. Quite often when you go to a section (e.g., Restaurants, Travel, etc.) the section will be blank! The app does not update headlines nearly as fast as the website (??) - thus don't go to the app hoping for up-to-date sports scores or breaking news headlines. After suffering through several versions of the app I give up on it. Why is this when even many smaller-town newspapers have far superior apps? Again, I am a big fan of the PG and have been for decades. Seeing the PG release this pathetic, half-baked app is like seeing a longtime old friend homeless and living under an underpass. Very sad.
Sad to see it go
Essentially needed for news
Trumpers
Endorsed Trump. Immediately unsubscribed.
Why limit content?
The insanity of this app is that it limits the number of articles that can be read per month, however you can read as many as you'd like to on the PG website. Also to get around the limit, simply delete the app and download it again. Aside from that the content is good.
Great read
I have always loved the PG Reader. Thank you!
Very old content
There are Steelers articles from 4 months ago. Political stories that are six months old. I tried it before subscribing as yet another displaced Pittsburgher. Too bad as I would have subscribed had it even been adequate.
