What people like
- Mixes many sounds together easily
- Great for blocking out distractions
- Huge library of relaxing sound options
What they complain about
- Ads interrupt you constantly
- Keeps crashing when using custom sounds
- Sound stops after screen turns off
The art of Zzzz
The app is simple to use. You can tune and mix different sounds together. You can also download sounds from the marketplace. Maybe you want to sleep out under the stars, on a beach, on a sailboat, sheltered in a cave during a storm, or cozy in the back of a car during a down pour. You can easily mix sounds together to create what you want.
Still has ads
First thing you see when you open the app is a pop up for either their other apps or their podcast. It’s infuriating and there’s no way to turn it off.
Volume control
I like this app and use it every night. However I don't like the change in the volume control as I now have to turn the volume up a lot more to get the same level of sound I had before the latest version. Not a good change, in my opinion.
Non-moving pictures
If you want a little movement in the pictures. This is not for you. One still picture per sound. I was looking for a replacement for YouTube ambiance videos. This is not it. The timer is a nice feature though.
Nice sounds
I hesitated to download at first because of the not so good looking UI. Looks like an old-outdated software of an old operating system. I hope the UI could match the beauty of its contents. But the sounds are beautiful specially the ones from White Noise Market library. The concept of having a supporting app to download or upload original sound tracks automatically import it to the app for free is really nice! I already have favorite tracks that I will be listening most of the time. Very relaxing soothing sounds! Very effective in masking unwanted noises. Tho, I think it is better to just merge the market app to the White Noise Pro app accessibility. I believe the software experts can do that. Also, Improve the UI. Make it look elegant at premium.
White Noise Pro is absolutely amazing
I’ve been using this app for YEARS. It’s my go to for everything bg noise related. I have fallen asleep countless times to the white noise // brown noise mix. I’ve got it tuned to the absolute perfect frequencies - and you can too with this app. It does everything you’d expect and more. You can combine one, two, three, four, five…. Whatever number of sounds together. Decide how they pan, decide the volume of each, just an absolutely genius app that I wish I’d written. Get it. Now.
10 years and now it’s unusable
Been using this app for what must be 10 years now. A few years ago there was an update that made it drain iPad battery. That was bad enough. Now the latest iOS update plus latest version of the app makes it shut off after 1 min of the screen being off. I’ve adjusted every setting I can find, but no luck. Still works on my phone, but I can’t sacrifice my phone battery to being plugged in all night like I did the iPad. This sucks. I don’t want to find a new app.

Used to be good, now crashes too often
This used to be a great app. It still would be, if it didn't crash so regularly. It's become very buggy under iOS 7 and rarely runs a full 6-8 hours overnight without crashing - in fact it's lucky normally to run only 2 hours without crashing. It solely needs an update.
Almost perfect
This is useful for masking noises near me, and selecting a mix, as in “mix with music”. However, the aforementioned setting option is not working! I have a Bluetooth speaker that lags unless it’s in AUX mode or sounds in the app mixes. It either complies or doesn’t whether I prefer something or not! The sooner the app is updated to fix that glitch, the better!
Best Source for Sounds to Listen to While Relaxing…
Best Source for Sounds to Listen to While Relaxing… Has everything you could ever possibly imagine inside as far as sounds go + users are constantly recording their own content and sharing their own experiences with sounds with the world!!! It’s definitely the most powerful sound sharing platform ever created and it’s stock sounds are absolutely fantastic but it’s definitely worth getting into this platform simply because of how much user content is available and created every single day and it’s got a huge library of FREE CONTENT in the White Noise Market App for users of this Pro Version!!!! Hands Down By Far The Best App/Platform For Users Who Want To Use Sounds To Help Them Get Relaxed!!!
Not worth it
If you can’t start it with a timer, what good is it?
Not Quite Ambience, But Close Enough
It’s not quite what Ambience used to be before its developer abandoned it, but after a long time spent away from iOS this seems to be a suitable replacement. At least I’ve been able to find comparable sounds to those I used to enjoy in the aforementioned app. There are only two reasons I’m not giving this app five stars: 1) The market for other sounds is another app entirely, and 2) The interface seems like it could be improved upon, maybe made a little sleeker. But other than that I’m fairly happy with it.

Great for Sound-Masking
As requested in a pop-up message on this app, I am reconfirming my rating above and what I wrote in the following sentences. I work at home, so I use this app to block out household noises and the conversations that tend to be distractions. It is also a sleep aid, especially since I am an early-to-bed kind of guy, and my wife tends to be a night owl. I used to use an app called Simply Noise, but it was not updated to fit the most recent iOS versions. I'm using White Noise Pro, which is much more diverse than Simply Noise and allows an ad-free experience. The developers have combined photos and sound to provide a very pleasing experience. There is a version for Mac, which I also use with satisfaction. A great app.
Sound shuts off with screen on iPad/phone.
Unless you leave the screen on, which lights up the whole room, your sound will shut off one minute after shutting off the screen. There are no settings to fix this and when I sent a request for help, it was ignored. Useless if it just shuts off.
Great as it suppresses noisy backgrounds
Great as it suppresses noisy backgrounds... Such as a snoring family member!
White Noise Creator
Leider ist es sehr schwierig eigene MP3s hinzuzufügen, dafür ist eine Mac Software nötig die mit den > 60 Minuten MP3s von whitenoisemp3s quasi abstürzt
Sleep Aide
Thinder is it!!
Was excellent but
I would be happy to provide five stars, but for some reason it’s crashing now that I use my own sounds. I need to get maybe three minutes before it crashes so there’s no point to the app anymore. If I get an update from the vendor that it’s been fixed, I’d be happy to put it back to 5 stars where it would belong otherwise.
Very good
Lots of choices besides white noise. Works for me!
Almost there.
Would like to see the ability to add my own music... also needs to fade a playlist entry in and out when starting and stopping.
Great update!
Finally, no playlist limits. This is a wonderful update.
Ads. Ads. Ads.
The ads in the marketplace are shown between every download. And I paid for it. Not ok.
Very useful app
Has great choice of sounds, but timer a little tricky to set up until one gets used to it.
Slowly turn off
The app is good, but what would make it great is if you could make the volume slowly get quieter over a period of time until it turns off instead of just going from on to off. The sudden quietness can wake you up, but your brain wouldn't notice if it was gradually getting quieter first.
this is app for your iphone, had this since it came ou
no negatives here, create your own mind distraction, this is the best on the markets i have seen, tried alot of em, and well they really were crappy
A ripoff
This app used to come with free downloadable sounds. Now the want to nickel and dime you or get you to subscribe. Just another money grubbing company.
3 Devices all have it
I have both the iPhone and iPad versions and so does hubby. We both use it everyday!
Pretty good
Great sounds. Lots of variety. However I cannot hide the catalogue tab once opened in landscape view. Also I would like to set the alarm with traditional settings not for how many hours and minutes away my selected wake up is to be.
BEST White Noise App!
I love this app. I have used it for years for myself to help block out noise while I sleep during the day after working night shifts. I also now use it for my son. So many options and just the best sound quality and seamless loops. I recommend it to everyone with a baby on the way.
No contact?
I am trying to figure out how to upload sounds I recorded, there is no way that I can find to do it on app or website, and also no way to contact via email for help??
Good product
Well designed and easy to use. Just needs a few extra sound variations and would be 5 star. Would like to have some more sea, wind and storm samples.
Another Perfect Night!
This is an almost perfect white noise app. It is the only one that has a built-in sound recorder, which is my favorite feature. I wish it was able to record for more than 59 seconds, but it is still worth the download!
No Advantage vs Free White Noise App
White Noise Pro If there is a difference between the Lite and Pro apps. I can’t find it. Save your money until there are additional features. My doctor has prescribed a med with interrupted sleep as a side effect. I downloaded White Noise to help “lullaby” me back to sleep in the middle of the night. It plays through my Bluetooth enabled hearing aids. It helps some, certainly better than silence. White noise offers a considerable selection of satisfactory sounds and the option of creating a playlist to vary them. I found it worth encouraging the developer with a paid upgrade of less than a dollar. It’s worth that. The app does have it’s issues: The option menus are not very intuitive, and they are confusing There are a few “tips” but no manual or help function The upgrade wipes all the playlist, mix creations, and manually recorded sounds. It leaves the old Lite app in place with a different colored icon. It’s just odd and awkward. I don’t resent spending the dollar, but I can’t see that it buys anything really The volume of the sounds vary a lot perceptually from one another. It’s just about impossible to create a playlist that does not have jarring volume changes. The app really needs the ability to adjust the volume of playlist entries individually. There is a shuffle function that reorders the playlist but no capacity for creating a specific desired order by moving items up or down manually.
Could be better if you could add your own music!
I think it is great however it would be great if you could add your own music to it , they would sell way better if you could add your own music.
Great for Studying
If you have a hard time finding a truly quiet, distraction-free place to study, this app (with a set of noise-cancelling earbuds) can be a great help. There are many easy-to-ignore ambient sound loops that will help to mask any otherwise distracting sounds. It is also great for sleeping if you get distracted by creaks, footsteps, and conversations around the house. Very valuable escape in our sound-addled world.
Was one of my favorite apps but not anymore.
I have used this app for along time. I have paid for the App and recently found that sounds I already have downloaded will not backup to ITunes. I am requested to purchase the sound again in iTunes. On top of that there are continual messages coming up on the App that the App isn’t appropriate for iPad. This App has turned into a scam.
Great for falling asleep
This is a great app for falling asleep to or even just to tune out more aggravating ambient noise on an airplane. I rather like the mixing feature and have made several mixes already. One slight problem is that occassionally a sound will "stick" and persist even in the presence of other sounds. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next version of the app.
