What people like
- Great daily prayers and meditations.
- Low annual price for content.
- Beautiful art and saint stories.
What they complain about
- Font size is tiny and stuck.
- Monthly issues fail to download.
- No dark mode for night reading.
Well Done
The Fold out is a Home Run
One star until they have a dark setting for night reading in the app.
Absolutely worthless app if you’re planning on using it at night. The app lights up my house more so than the flashlight on my phone. There is apparently a nighttime reader setting if you are online, but none in the app itself. What gives?
Missing feature: dark/night mode
I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars, because one feature is missing: dark/night mode. This has been a standard feature in all the operating systems I use. If I want to read a meditation or reflection during the evening or night hours, I must copy and paste the text to an app that has dark/night mode. Once dark/night mode is enabled, I will change my rating back to 5 stars.
Late arrivals
I ordered the book version of Magnificat and have been a customer for at least 10 years. For the past year the books arrive inconsistently. As of this month it is the 6 th of the month already and no book. I’m paid up until 2030. I’ve tried to download the digital copy which I should be able to do ,but every time I try it ask for more money. I’ve called about this problem more than once and receive guarantees that fall through. My next step if not resolved satisfactorily will be to cancel my subscription and request a refund.
App not working
Recently the articles, especially the art ones have been in such a small print on the iPhone that they are impossible to read Also the back button is not responsive. There seems no way to adjust the font even when pressing A+ noting happens. Something changed a while ago. Please fix.
Love this app
I’ve used this book and app for several years. I love the pictures and the stories about them; the saints—many I’ve never read anything about; the daily mass readings; the daily meditation; credible witness; and, great conversion stories. Thank you. The one thing I would like to know is whether I could go back to the book page set-up in the on-line version. It’s just a little easier for me to read.
Disgruntled App User
I am a subscriber if the Magnificat and have been for several years. My subscription runs through October 2026. The App stopped allowing me access as of January 1, 2026. I can access my January online issue at the Magnificat website without a problem. So it is the App that is not working properly.
Loading issue
I can no longer upload my Magnificat app without to my iPhone or iPad. Please help me!!
Won’t renew my subscription
Many months during the past year I get a downloading error. I have emailed my problem. I have gone to the gear icon and memory status. I have used different devices to try to download. My subscription was set to renew in November. I have already canceled it. I have used Magnificat for 10 plus years. Very disappointed.
Current Font Size Problem
Magnificat is wonderful. Currently, the font is so small and most text does not respond to in-app size-change buttons. If you turn it sideways, the text is the size it is supposed to be. Happy to send screenshots and provide device information as needed!
Great!
This app is great! The Magnificat is wonderful. Possibly the best daily prayer publication out there. I am happy they offer a reduced rate for digital only!! I can pray whenever I have a free minute!! Thank you!!
Not Working
Just subscribed but I continue to get a downloading error. I went to the settings to status of memory and it doesn’t download. The app is unusable.
Good app
Please add a “dark mode” to make texts easier to read.
No alternative English-speaking localisation
In the printed version we now have the UK, Ireland, etc... versions of scripture, but not in the online version or this app. The content is not user-editable: fonts, copy-paste, nor does it adapt to screen width... unlike Universalis. Basically, the texts are fixed image files. Please sort this out. In today's market it comes across as very amateurish.
Mostly good
I have trouble with the type size in April. Seems corrected now. Called the main phone number and the person said it was an Apple issue. Not!
This Best Spiritual Guide
I have been using the Magnificat for over 20 years and every month it comes up with something new and exciting to learn about the Catholic faith
Needs to be free
I can to this app when searching for a daily devotional. It is hard to pay online and honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it.
Wonderful but...
Could you allow us to copy and paste? It would be very useful when there is a prayer or hymn which inspires to be able to copy for personal use .... Thank you
Magnificat
Disappointing that it wouldn't let me purchase second month. Readability is not good. iMissal definitely a better choice at this point.
Where are the Bible notations??
I love the Magnificat app but why are the Bible chapter and verse notations not listed before the readings this month? They always were previously; I use them to read further in my Bible and now we have no idea where these readings are from. Please brings the notations back!!
Favorite Missalette
Magnificat hits most all of my needs for daily prayer. Thoughtfully laid out, beautifully curated meditations, and art that leads us via the way of beauty. It also helps me in preparation for masses with the Suggested Prayers of the Faithful on Sundays.
Site, app lack basic info
If there was another such magazine, I would drop Magnificat and subscribe to the other. How hard is it to include the customer’s subscription info on the site and the app, for that matter??? Every year is the same complaint. WHEN, exactly, does my subscription expire??? WHERE, exactly, can I find it without having to call Magnificat and speak to your customer service reps who always sound like they’re tired of dealing with customer care.
Magnificat daily prayers
This is so helpful especially when I am travelling - it's so "green". Thank you and God bless all.
Needs major improvement
The load screen and main menu are fine, but that is about as high quality as this app gets. The fonts and font size used for the prayers section are small and painful to read.
Changes in format
I much prefer the old format. This is way harder to read and follow. Please go back to the original format for this app.
Truly life changing
I subscribed to Magnificat 23 years ago after I quit smoking as a reward to myself and I truly believe the years I have spent nourishing my life with Magnificat has had a profound impact on my love for my faith in the Catholic Church. Good bless Magnificat and all they do for us.
Newest Version
Software update problems. Unable to change font size. Sometimes very large or sometimes very small. I deleted the app and shut down my iPhone 15 Pro Max to try to fix the problem, several times as a matter of fact. After a full day, I downloaded the app just a while ago and it appears to be working as it should. Very frustrating.
Magnificat
I was so excited by this app and have been looking forward to it. I was really disappointed that you need to have a connection at all times to use it. That's not always an option for an iTouch user. I'm further disappointed that this point isn't in the description. I really enjoy the Magnificat publication and was looking forward to having it on my iPod, but I'll be going back to iMissal for my daily readings.
Blank pages
In the a February edition, when I try to view any of the prayers that correspond to a date, the page is blank. So I cannot see any of the contents of this month’s edition. I wonder if this is related to the Apple software update (Using iPad). Other than that, it is a wonderful application!
FIXED - App no longer readable
UPDATE - Please go to settings (gear icon on the top right corner), then status of memory and force download the month. This bug has been fixed. Thank you! *********************** Last combination of updates rendered the app useless. The text is so small it’s completely unreadable even at Big+++ and iOS text size maximum! Everything from the title Mass through the entire Gospel is on one screen and can’t be changed - that’s right, font size adjustments only change the titles, not the normal text! If this is not fixed immediately I’m going to have to cancel my subscription.
Zero Stars If That Were Possible
Don't bother downloading. This is clearly an unsupported app. I'm a new subscriber who won't be recieving a print copy in the mail for a month and a half. The app won't work, does not load. The browser version is terrible on a phone/tablet--no responsive design.
Divine potential!
It can be improve and reach the succes of the French version In uop ;)
Essential daily Catholic Reading!
I love the Magnificat and so do many of my friends. The daily prayers are great for those who want to pray with the whole Church but don’t have time for Liturgy of the Hours. The daily meditations and other writings are concise and inspiring. And of course, the Magnificat is a reliable and easy to read source of daily mass readings
App does not work
App is inconsistent and buggy. I can’t download the monthly issues without error messages. I deleted the app and reinstalled. No luck. I also went to the settings and tried to download the monthly issue with the memory setting without luck
Most Grateful for the Magnificat
My wife and I treasure having this connection to Our Lord and our beautiful Church. The level of integrity that the Magnificat Team reaches is not surpassed in any other religious publication or app. It provides us with a most lovely way to begin and end our day with God Our Father, His Son (Our Savior) and the Holy Spirit! I would recommend this publication to anyone who is searching for the truth and also to those who are firm believers and want to enhance their prayer life. It brings us great joy daily and we are most grateful to all the beautiful folks who produce it. Thank you!
New change - Font size too small!
The font size on the latest version is much too small. The text is a small size and I can’t make it bigger than what was once the smallest setting. Please fix this.
My Daily ‘GO TO’ Catholic app!
Love everything about this app. Has brought me even closer to the TRINITY & The Blessed Mother, Angels and Saints. Like the low annual price for what’s in store for the reader. I’ve been with Magnificat for quite a number of years now. I use a variety of Catholic apps, but never miss a day with any and all portions of Magnificat.
Access cancelled before subscription ended
I have an annual subscription through April, but the app is not letting me download my March issue. I’ve tried to resolve by contacting Magnificat directly but have not received reply. I am frustrated that I am paying for something I cannot access or get resolved. I’m hoping a poor review will get their attention.
