Stopped working with iPhone 16
Won’t load, won’t download purchased gear, won’t let you contact customer support. I love this app and as an artist, I’ve developed a style relying on this app. What a dumb thing to do, because now it appears to have been discontinued.
still the best! however...
it stoped opening correctly on my ipad mini 6 several updates ago. the camera image is halfway off the screen and i can't shoot photos with it because the button is off the screen too. i assumed you or apple updates would fix the problem, but here it is many months later and i can edit photos from apple photo album and that's all i can do. i was one of the early users and it still works fantastic on my iphone, but can we get the same restored on ipad? ❤️
Need update
Love this app. Pretty have all the in app purchases but need to be updated and fix some of the bugs. I have this app since it was released but over time the app would crash and it was never seem to update or fix the issues. Sad it’s used to be what I used for years.

Super easy to use. The Jane filter set to 20-30% seems to work on almost everything.
What’s the point…
What’s the point of having the latest iPhone with much more resolution if this thing is going to cut it to 12 megapixels. This applications are a joke. And Apple is a joke as well, those people just follow the same marketing scheme.
Ipad update
I have been using this app for years now. But I am not using an iphone anymore and the other day I tried using it on my ipad. Unfortunately the app is not adapted for ipad and it works really weird. It is a pity cause I love it. Also after all this years it’s a waste do do not have it on android as well.
Not working with IPhone 16
I have tried repeatedly to get help from the app designers. This version will not work with IPhone 16. I have tried everything - there is no way to get a tight shot in focus like there used to be with older phones. Anyone else have this problem?
I love this app but there’s problems lately.
I can’t get anything to load on the app. The timer just spins and spins. I never had this problem before. I have an Iphone 16E running the latest IOS. PLEASE HELP!! I can’t even look at all of my purchases anymore. Thanks.
Still the best
I’ve had this app since day one and have always loved it. I have supported all their apps and I own every in app purchase this app has ever had. They have fantastic customer support. Yeah, it’s a bummer that a few of their apps have been abandoned, but they weren’t crazy overpriced and they functioned. My only issue is that with every update they still don’t fix the viewfinder. When you first open, you can clearly see through the viewfinder but if you change your lens or anything as soon as you go back to shoot your photo, it’s all a big blur. It’s not a huge deal since you’re kind of taking your chances with how your photos will turn out – however it would be nice to be able to frame up perfect. Especially with films that have frames and such that when cropped will lose the entire effect. Other than that, this app is still my favorite photo app.
Money grab without support!
It appears the developers are more interested in getting you to buy more add-ons than making their product work. If you want more people to spend money on your product, FIX IT!!

Take Care of the Long Time Users
I’m really trying to be patient with this app because I have used it and loved it through the long journey for nearly 12 years. First I have folders that will tell me I have a certain amount of photos and then I open it and only the last 4 recent ones load. Then if I go to my Hipstamatic 200 folder from over the years, it has a message at the bottom to “tap for editing, sharing, etc.” and if I do click on any of those photos and try to do any of those things the app crashes. Please Hipsta stop taking the things that the OG users have always loved about your apps and supported you for and trying to push them into some subscription. Find a middle ground that doesn’t entail stepping on the backs of the people that have kept you going this long to be like one of the other “here today, gone tomorrow” camera apps.
Great until it wasn’t.
I’ve been using hipstamatic for well over ten years. All of a sudden despite my app being updated I’m having a problem with the camera function. It’s like it’s looking to the side. I try to take a pic of something in front of me but the viewfinder is looking to the left… I don’t understand. It like the camera on my phone is crooked but the regular camera on my phone works fine. I’ve had to stop using the app.
Best film aesthetic
I’ve used Hipstamatic since the beginning. I hope Hipstamatic never stops creating new film, lenses, and flashes.

I use this app all the time but I’m not buying anymore packs until there’s a decent update…UPDATE: been waiting for this. Still can’t change the ISO without the app crashing. ☹️4/25/24: ditto 9/23/25: can anyone explain why the ISO has to remain on Auto? Every attempt to change it still makes the app crash. 12/26/24: still can’t change the ISO😒
Buggy
Good when it works. But as soon as you change the film speed it crashes. Feels a bit dated and unloved these days
Receipt doesn’t much product
Forbidden error when I try to restore purchases. Also the restore button is misplaced on the UI at the bottom it clashes with print lab and the button next to it at the bottom. Please fix
It’s great except…
Absolutely everything about this app and have for years, but the only thing is, the camera basically disappears when you first open up the app on iPad. It doesn’t align correctly and I can’t see the buttons or any of the other functions.

Best camera app
This is an amazing camera app. You will not be disappointed. I switched to a Samsung Galaxy and when I went back to IPhone, it was the FIRST app I downloaded. Absolutely amazing! Thank you hipsta for making my photos incredible!
Cinematic?
Don’t know what’s going on, but I’m not able to download my video feeds from the app something Coco pops up error what’s going on guys?
I want to like it, but it’s too cryptic
I like the photo results, but find it very hard to replicate them or choose which effects I will get next. I’m not a fan of the interface at all - in fact it’s so hard to figure out it feels like it gets in the way of creativity rather than enabling it.
It’s just the coolest there is.
This is the original app, all of my purchases from over 10 years ago remain easily downloadable. None of the pics look like filters, but real analog pictures with a fully customizable and intuitive loadout.
Stopped working on my iphone11
Lens does not open in app to take photos. Permissions to use lens is on. Same with the main Hipstamatic camera app.
Needs some tweaks
I love this app I think adding the ability to add or remove the frames would make this a perfect app.
Fan but performance has been a little slow lately
Have been using Hipstamatic for many years and always been a huge fan of the new lenses etc. Lately the app has been having severe performance issues, has lagged a lot. Despite reinstalling, same results 🙁 not sure how else to have this frustrating issue resolved.
Updates needed
It has been a while since last update. Now this app is basically unusable. Picking a photo to edit, it crashes, trying to shop for new gears, it crashes, trying to save to photo library and it CRASHES. OMG. I cannot believe this is the app that I have been using and loving.

App Rendered Useless by Bug
Starting today, I get an error saying “Image did not render and cannot be saved” whenever I try to take a photo. I’ve had Hipstamatic (now “Classic Camera”) on my phone for over ten years now, but lately I’ve noticed a lot more bugs and crashes—and now it can’t even save a photo, which is a huge problem for a *camera app*. I don’t know if this is Hipstamatic’s way of trying to push its longtime users over to the subscription model of the new app or what, but either these issues with the Classic Camera app need to be addressed or I’d like a refund for all the add-ons I’ve purchased over the years.
Great but i want improvements/additions please :)
This is a great app but it only gets 4 stars until loyalty is rewarded. I have supported this app since it first began. I buy every lens pak but then the large bundled paks appear and include every lens pak I've purchased BUT include an extra item like another flash or case for example. There's no way I'm paying almost a fiver for that one extra item, nor should i be expected to. The app should attribute the large pak automatically to owners off all the little lens paks which would give us that extra item automatically as a thank you for our loyalty and support. The other way solution is just to include the extra item within one of the smaller paks too. It's frustrating to see that my collection is not complete, especially as im a long time supporter. PLEASE sort this finally asap I've recently got to the point where i don't buy the small paks so that i can buy the big combo paks to get the extra item. The only issue here is that i have began to forget about the app altogether. Old review: In addition to my original review: Firstly I'll say that the developers are doing a really great job, especially lately, well done! Problems to address: Slight restore errors popping up at times when i havent asked the app to restore Uses battery far too quick and makes phone hot. I would suggest showing a lower res version of photos being edited so that results can be instantaneous as they take to long to preview different filter combinations at the moment and results in taking ages to experiment/edit a photo which will put people off being creative and defeat the whole point of the filter/editing features (which i LOVE by the way). Saving an edited photo usually takes two minutes on an iPhone 6!!!! WAY too long! I found i was messing about adding different paks as favorites (still not sure exactly what that does yet) and making sure they were all added.plus the paks should have a 'mine' label on the ones owned without having to go into individual pak pages to check (i own all paks and it takes ages and is annoying) I am really angry that people who buy the starter pack get a collectors edition case! I have all paks (apart from the seven pak cos can't justify buying it just for a few extra cases - i should be given this free for my loyalty! :) and have supported and used this app since day one and have probably spent over £40(!) buying the paks etc. Despite these teething problems the prospects of finally being able to apply filters to existing photos has got me excited! I have left my previous review here for now as i can't use the app enough yet to find out whether the review still stands as it is or not. I recommend the app though because i am confident the problems will get sorted out. This app is amazing and have used it for a few years ever since it came out. I have purchased all the extra paks over time and love the creativity it provokes. Original review with items that i want to see implemented: I have given this three stars (used to be four) as there is extra features that id like to see and most have STILL NOT BEEN IMPLEMENTED!: 1) being able to rotate taken photos (not sure if implemented yet although crop has been now) 2) user created filters that can be saved to phone and cloud account, exported, imported and shared would be the next step 3) simple things like a rule of thirds grid and timed shots I expect to be able to do this especially as ive forked out a ton of cash for the paks!!! Incidentally i think the developers r greedy with the in-app purchases - ONE lens and ONE film for 69p for example. Its just too tight. Be more generous guys! I can't believe its that hard to knock out a few filters. Although the starter pak is good for noobs and recommended
Disappointing lack of support
Certain features haven’t worked properly in years, for example the share to buttons - you just get an error message. Unable to flag or contact the developers as the link to contact them via this page is a dead link. Less new hipstapaks and more fixing bugs please
Used to be brilliant
I used to love Hipstamatic back in the days… I even had it in my dock in place of the default camera app. But since the big 300 update some years ago, it’s never been quite the same - even after they reintroduced some of the original, classic features. I hate the way I have to keep rotating the phone around when I want to look at the images I’ve just snapped. I hate the way I can only scroll up and down to view the photos. I hate the fact that you can’t zoom in on the images you’ve taken. The images it takes are great though and classic lock does away with the unnecessary ‘features’ that you don’t really need. I just wish it was like the old days…
Still the best
I prefer this classic version to the new subscription modern app. I’ll gladly keep buying films and lenses and when shooting random shots the results can range from garbage to genius and that’s so much fun.

Unusable on my iphone 11
Had this app for years, but now on my iphone 11 its just unusable, keeps freezing, wont let you go back pages, doesn’t so examples of photos of different lens and film etc etc im gutted, please fix it 😞
Used to love this app now it’s constantly crashing
As the title says. It was great, now it feels dated (and not in the retro aesthetics, which are expected) and crashes constantly.
I have loved this app which is why I’ve spent so much money on it
But it keeps on crashing upon trying to save my photos. Please Update!
The magic is gone.
No longer changes between film and lenses. Oh, it shows the changes, sure…but the images all look the same no matter what pak I try to use. This was money wasted. :(

Few bugs recently.
I love this app and have used for years. I take lots of food pics using the foodie settings. Recently it’s not stable, taking pics off centre. Also the viewfinder has become a bit unstable and changed from panoramic to zoom. Help!
Textures missing on classic camera iPhone 11
On the back of the camera on the right hand side of the viewfinder there’s a small slider button that used to be the wide angle button. Not sure what it even does now, it has an eye on it. The texture around the outside is just a white box, as if a texture is missing. The app is pretty laggy on the iPhone 11 and when you press the button at the top to go back to camera after reviewing a picture you have to press the button about 10 times before it responds. Clearly you’re not too bothered about Classic customers now you have your new app out. iOS 14 Edit: March 01/2021 and they still haven’t fixed the slider texture in iOS 14 for the iPhone 11. It’s still a white box around the switch. But they continue to release films and packs for the app. Just sort it out.
No photos
Seems to be bug in the app every time I take a picture it’s just white and this app is good when it works properly
Long time user for a reason
I’ve been using Hipstamatic products since they first introduced the first Hipstamatic app. I still use the first combo I ever made. Some of my favorite images have been made using this app. I’ve also tried all of the Hipstamatic brand products that have come and gone over years. These guys have great ideas and they ALWAYS respond when you need help. They pay attention to feedback and address potential bugs. If you’re new to this, jump in and have fun. Finding new combinations is my favorite thing to do and sharing with my friends is another. They also have a new version of this app that is subscription based that gives you ALL of the films, lenses, flashes and cases. Of course I use that too and it’s great fun seeing what people are shooting all over the world. Glad this is one app that was not killed over the years.
Constantly crashes
For the last several upgrades I’ve had, this app has frozen and crashed repeatedly. Won’t even work on iPhone 15 Max Pro. Really irritating.
Great fun app but....
The back to camera button at the top of the app is impossibly small to press on iPhone X, it takes me 3 or 4 taps everytime to get back after viewing the gallery, which can result in missing a lovely picture, please fix this.
The Zoom Doesn’t Work
Love this app and have spent god knows how much on paks over the years but the zoom doesn’t work on my 11 plus any more. The magnifying glass symbol is sometimes missing altogether and sometimes greyed out.
Can't change the film
For some reason the most recent version of the app on the most recent iOS won’t allow me to change films. The “case” moves to the right briefly but when I even touch the “film” it jumps straight back to the camera case. Annoying as I can change my lens and flash, but am left with having to shake my phone in an effort to get a good film on random.
