What people like
- Best source for Manchester United news
- Great for fans living outside the UK
- Covers local Manchester news well
- Easy to customize topics you like
What they complain about
- Most articles now require a paid subscription
- Ads are frequent and extremely annoying
- App crashes often or fails to update
- Articles contain many spelling and grammar errors
Excellent App for Man U news and opinions.
My go to place to get player ratings, gossip and other Man U news.
Don’t bother
Use a browser instead of this with ad blockers if you’re looking to read these articles (even the premium ones). Don’t pay them whatever you do.
Disappointed
Disappointed that now have to subscribe to read all news articles. It was better when there was free access
Not good
Slow, cumbersome website with too much going on which slows it down and thought through of the layout is awful.
Typos
Far too many typos.
Great App!
Remind me of the days when I lived in Manchester!
Dodgy 5*
How can this app have almost 5*’s when almost every recent review is 1* Somebody been buying reviews 🤔
Below Average
The content of this app is the average bit, however what drags it below average is the fact that every time you go back into the app, you have to reset your favourite topics, as the app has wiped anything you saved previously. I only go on to read around four different topics but you have to constantly reset them. Proper pain in the rear!
Premium
Will have to delete app, unfortunately unless I pay there’s not much news I can read!
Update
I have been trying for weeks to update the app , it just keeps pretending to update but never does , doesn’t matter if I am fully charged, plugged in or on WiFi or not - it will not update! Any suggestions?
Great App
Wonderful app ... always refreshing news about my favorite sport and especially about my favorite team Man United. Keep it up
Moons
Don’t bother they are so focused on charging £4.99 a month , literally no stories available to read - just about to delete the App - absolutely pointless
Manu
Great app
Great app if it wasn’t just crime and accident notifications all day
Moving to Manchester. Really wanted to support a local news app. However I’m so close to deleting it. Constantly getting crime and accident notifications and nothing else. Customise them please!
Poor
Bought this on a three deal but got charged for the full year on the f Day f purchase with the renewal date exactly one year on so ribbed of the advertised free three months. Also the app is supposedly shareable under family purchases but it won’t share so all things considered poor is the best I can say about.
Top shelf
My first source for news on Manchester United from here in the United States.
Poor reporting
The M.E.N need to get there facts right before printing articles! The amount of poor reporting and lies are laughable, yet people still read it.
Good app
Keeps you up to date with all local news and team news
Back button disappeared
Updated the app. Going through articles as usual. But then the’ back button’ while on a story, disappeared. Only way back to all the stories, was to quit the app.
App
The app isn’t too bad for the news and crime articles but why does the app make my phone so hot after only reading one article, I thought it was my old phone at first but it also happens on my new phone, means I read a lot less than I usually would have
Great way to stay in touch
Manchester Evening News is the best way to follow United!
Another one who’s deleting
Used to be a decent app this , had its for as long as I’ve had a iPhone nearly 20 years , but now it gone , 7 articles a week and they want you to pay for it , don’t think soo ,
Your Source for Manchester United news
This is the place to go for Manchester United news. This is the local paper in Manchester, England, so they have great sources and info for MUFC news and stories.
Disappointing
The app is now really disappointing as nearly all the stories are accessed by paying for premium and what is on there seems to be aimed at OK magazine readers. This used to be a good source of local information and news. Not anymore
Premium App
Slightly sarcastic title here - what I mean is the new revision pushes all your ‘need to pay for’ premium content. I appreciate you are a business & have to make money but I thought that deceived from the ads readers are bombarded with.
Manchester!
if you're interested in Manchester - you need this app
Terrible
Breath or waft over an advert it’s logging straight on. Limited reads and pay for stories. Getting deleted.
One of the best news app available
As far as newspaper apps go this is defiantly one of the better ones. Good UI and seems to be updated regularly.
Being forced to pay !!
Over the past few months most articles are all having the forced to pay banner on them - shame just means leaving and getting all the content elsewhere
Picture problem
In 'more pictures' sequences, the images don't realign when iPhone rotated. And often the images don't capture the subjects' heads.
men
Manchester evening news is a great source of news and information for those of us who are stuck here in the United States
Only 10 ‘free’ articles a week!!
Articles riddled with spelling mistakes and poor lazy journalism, yet they expect you to pay a subscription if you click on more than 10 articles a week.
Excellent journalin
I gave the MEN 4 of 5 stars, as there's always room for improvement. The home page is a little difficult to get thru, but the stories themselves really manage to incorporate all aspects new in the Gtr Mcr area.
Poor for a news app.
This is really disappointing as a news app. First of all I consider the writing and the editing of articles to be rubbish. Usually the headline is repeated 2,3 or more times. Secondly the selection of “news” is often poor and trivial. Thirdly, the main page contains sections I don’t have any interest in and can’t be removed; I’m thinking of football, ‘celebrities’ and what’s on. Next, it’s only a very small proportion of articles that allow comment. Lastly, the MEN never ever covers rugby as a news item (e.g. Sale Sharks being in the Final was never covered last year.) Somebody with authority needs to get a grip on this app.
Needs bug fix asap
Keeps crashing when you try to open the app.
Great app
Great app. Give me all the latest news about Manchester City. Although some of the headlines need some work nevertheless I'm satisfied.
Premium. Premium. Premium that’s all I see now. Deleted
All I see now is Premium enough is enough Deleted.
Great app
Love the news I get here
Older version
I preferred the older layout & it was more user friendly Thank you
Novel way to read
Good content- the interesting part of this app is the option to read ' spreed' style which is an update version of Bob Dylan's card reading. Not bad
Great app
Customized it just for MUFC news and love it. Great game reviews and articles.
App is a scam
The app is soon to be uninstalled. More and more premium content . I certainly won’t be paying for premium trash on this site . What has happened to the MEN it’s gone right downhill . Shame on you MEN . Goodbye forever
Not bad for the price!
Livin in the US followin me Reds is tough enough. This way I can plug into me favorite footballers like I'm sittin right next to the pitch!
Bad
Crashes a lot on iOS 7
Footy from the Blue Side
This Yank loves getting his City News from MEN on a daily basis.
Worst App in the App Store
Terrible app, stories are days and weeks old. Stories are covered in irrelevant adverts. Limited to 10 stories per week. I’d give it a mark of Zero if I could
Thanks
The adverts that have now appeared are the most annoying I have come across and I have heard the same from other users that I know, I moved to Australia Andover this app, but now it's bye bye, why would you do it like you have.
