What people like
- Great for temporary safety checks
- Easy to share with any phone
- Free and works for basic needs
What they complain about
- Updates make the app confusing and slow
- Stops tracking when you switch apps
- Ads interrupt you constantly
- Support never actually helps
A way to share
We use Glympse exclusively to share our locations temporarily while traveling. It is easy to use and sharing is disabled automatically. ☺️
Still trying to take my money
Why are you still charging me after I canceled my subscription
Great
This is a great app, but a bit more work is needed. Particularly instructions directly in the app to show how to use it.
Freezes
The application is picky on when it works and when it doesn’t. Most of the time it doesn’t update and stays frozen. The customer link is a circle that won’t let you submit any concerns.
A lot of faffing about
I use this occasionally. It’s a simple enough concept and it meets a need. But it seems bloated and overly complex and more so since the last time I used it. It should be a few taps and you’re done, and maybe it is for someone like the developers who are deeply familiar with it, but for occasional use you find yourself having to re-learn it each time.
“Safety first”
Meeting people on line is tough and most people on dating apps don’t always tell the truth , because of location Glympse give the power to make sure there where they say they are !!!
Worst app ever
Never works
Still great, but…
Please restore the on-screen counter that shows at a glance how many people have clicked on your link. It’s just not safe to be tapping on my phone to determine this whilst driving.
This was my go to app for 10 years, now I deleted it
I have not been able to get it to recognize my email address after numerous successful verifications. I'm done!
Apple Watch app please
Please please 🙏 really need this
Very useful and works great.
I’ve been using this app since 2022 and it’s a great way to share with your family or friends or your location and arrival time. I use it mostly when I’m on my motorcycle, but I also share it when I’m going to meet with people so that they can see my arrival time. Can be used to share with iPhone or android users.
Used to work
App no longer works with iOS 26
Great app…but
I’ve used this app for years and loved it. Shame about the recent ‘modernisation’ of the UI, which in my experience is subjective. How do you define modernisation? Change for change’s sake? Unfortunately the live updates are so slow with this new look, and a lot of screen space now taken up by the live info. Still a great free app but a backwards unnecessary step for me!
I only want location-- NOT an app-determinedroute
I now understand this is a rather restrictive "navigation" appI that pre-determines a route. This restriction does not meet my need for an app that simply indicates my location without presumptive route "clutter". I need to inform another only my current location--not upon an app-determined route as the app's solution is most likely not my intent. I ride a mountain bike upon trails: even when choosing the bike icon; the app indicates dots upon most-direct roads to a destination I eventually intend to get to upon multiple select trails. So, sharing my location data that is laid upon an assumed route misleads the tag receiver. This can also apply to anyone who might be out for a joy-ride such as with family who might go to s movie, than a restaurant not yet predetermined and then shopping, etc; too much to preload!. If the app allows one to remove the predetermined route--I haven't found how to control that feature via extensive time in the online manual and searches to include whether the paid version of the app provides that capability. So, I'll go elsewhere for an app that simply provides location!
On Blackberry it was great, but not anymore
When we could use our Blackberry phones BBM message system still in the UK which had as as side facility GLYMPSE, both were brilliant. Never had any problems at all with either. However, when the Blackberry system memory system got choked up with the updated apps and the Blackberry capabilities were not enough to be able to cope with the new systems, we had to move to another manufacturer phone. Since then we have just had no luck with either the message systems that I had found, text messages are frequently too slow or GLYMPSE at all. So I have had to look around again. Then someone suggested I have a look at telegram for my messages. It is brilliant. But it also has a few side features like the Blackberry system. Photograph access, but only the ones that you want, also not only the chat service but also an incognito chat as well. A link to a time limit map so you can see who is where, You can see any of your contacts who are also registered with Telegram. Access to many different types of settings so you can tailor it to your own preferences. Many, many different types of emoji’s, gifs, stickers and also moving ones as well. Lastly voice recording. I did use them both on my Blackberry until I did not have enough memory, but apart from that I cannot fault either when they were on the Blackberry. It seems as though Blackberry had more control over Glympse than now when it is available to all of the people and any mobile phone system.
Better except for
It performs as intended just that no consumer fee to get rid of the marketing. Advertisements are a nuisance.
Great app
This is one of my fav apps. Hard to say why but lots of options and let's people see your live location. Edit: Used to be good but now is glitchy, doesn’t update my speed or location. Unfortunately I believe the time has come to delete this app.
New update makes viewing speed cumbersome.
It was really convenient to be able to see speed at a glance when looking at the map. Having to click on the icon makes this more difficult.
2 hours of sharing
I was a good ok app. However, the app stayed open for 2 hours. Meaning it was sharing my location for those hours and then it stopped. My kiddos were tracking me on my 8 hour drive and got worried when they didn’t see it anymore. When I got half was to my destination to put gas in my car. I looked on my phone to see that I had one that was there. I feel dumb for downloading this app. I know better next time.
Super App with occasional hiccups
2024 December Update: Not sure when this happened, but Glympse no longer sends your location unless it is running in the foreground. This makes it near useless to me now. Typically I’d send the Glympse to my family and then pull up my map app for the trip. Letting Glympse run in the background, so I could navigate highways and traffic with my favorite traffic app. Bummer. Looking for alternatives now. Dropping rating by a star so now rating it at a 3 star app. 2021 Update: My old review below had a request for creating a Glympse for more than 4 hours, they have done that. Not sure which update created this but now the app shows every recipient as NEVER VIEWED even if they have viewed. I get the notifications if they check the link, but the app continues to show them as NEVER VIEWED. A software fix is required. Love it. Would like to see the ability create a longer time. 4 hours is not enough sometimes. After a recent update, when sending a Glympse via txt, the app says it was sent, but it really wasn't. If I reboot my phone, it starts working properly again--for a time. Then reverts to inaccurate "Glympse sent" messages.
Garage door repairs
Repairs. Badguys did an awesome job. He was so kind and generous. I was so thankful. I highly would recommend him to anyone. Please reach anytime.
Used to love
I was a devoted fan of this app but recently it became very onerous and my followers said it was not showing my position. It doesn’t want to accept my email to login, but keeps asking me to fix it. It seems to always want to use my last navigation destination and makes it hard to delete it to enter a new one. I am switching to Waze or Google maps. Deleting Glympse.
Not a fan of the recent updates
We have used Glympse for several years as a surveillance team. It has been great up until the recent update. The large bubble icon and the blue tracking lines that follow every team member have made it more difficult to use. Please offer an option to remove the blue lines. Other than that Glympse has been a great tool for us to keep track of one another while working.
Had to request a location
App ok but you have to request a location every time. This is no good for my children as they don’t see the request so I can’t track them.
Recent update made it worse
My wife and I have been using Glympse for years. It was a great app. A recent update made it less friendly. Now we cannot find where or how to stop sharing before the share time is elapsed. Also, for the first time ever, it gave me a dialog box that said sharing will only occur while Glympse is in the foreground. So I was driving and constantly making sure it stayed on in the foreground. I never had to think about that before. Overall, I think Glympse updates location more frequently than Apple’s FindMy so Glympse is very useful.
Great for Hot air ballooning
Super good app with great tracking if used properly, a little slow but for a free application that’s universal it gets the job done.
Confusing & Complicated
Needed to keep tabs of family while they are out since we live far from town in case someone needs help. This is not the app for this.
CarPlay Removed - Why?
Great app for sending location info to my clients However, it was more useful when it integrated with CarPlay. Please add CarPlay back into the app
Linking account to Twitter
For several years I was able to successfully link Glympse to Twitter. Try as I may as of late (iPhone 13 ProMax with iOS 16.3.1), I cannot move beyond the Join (link social media account) screen, as the app will not navigate beyond the Log In prompt (click the Log In link and nothing happens). Is it just me?
App was great before the recent update
Had to turn off notifications because they were sent by the app every few seconds when someone opened my glympse link to view it. Annoying. Also all info used to be easy to see at once. Someone’s location, speed and seconds since last update were all in one place. I still can’t figure out how to conveniently view that info since the update. Don’t mess with a good thing! Didn’t need a “sleeker” ui. Just need an app that works and glympse used to belong in that category.
Easy and accurate!
So easy to use I can send a Glympse while pedaling my bike to let my wife know where I am in my ride.
DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.0.11
Without warning or any kind of description in the version history, this app is suddenly showing ads and is using Apple Maps instead of using Google Maps, which I selected in Glympse’s settings. This is either a buggy update or they lied in their version history and snuck in a couple of major changes without mentioning them.
My thoughts
This app works extremely well. One observation is that it's complicated to add another person to my circle. Please advise on this concern. Thank you!
Not working for ios14
Unfortunately hasn’t worked properly since iOS 14. App crashes as you send a Glympse, recipients get ‘fatal error’. 🤷♂️
Latest update causes continuous notifications
I updated to the latest version and now when I send someone a Glympse, I receive constant notifications that the person I sent it to has read/opened my Glympse. It’s very distracting as it constantly pops up on screen every 1-5 seconds. Please fix this issue
Great and very to use.
Great and very good tool to help to track and the arrival of guest.
I don’t get it
I used to use your app and found it useful but I stopped as I can’t figure out hit to make it work. When you first started you had a much better idea about now to get people onto using the app.
Great app. Please allow deletion of recipients
This app has been a great help on numerous occasions. However, it needs a function to delete recipients please. You can add more to the list, but cannot delete.
Won’t link to twitter anymore
Used to love this app worked a treat, now won’t link to twitter get an error saying unable to connect to twitter, tried deleting apps removing per permission it’s driving me nuts!
GPS doesn’t work
They say it uses GPS when out of cellular range. It does not. When you have no cellular signal it freezes and stops updating location.
Great app to let people see where you are
The app lets you generate a link to share your location for a set period of time. I use it when I’m meeting up with folks, so they can see how close I am. Much easier and safer than trying to use my phone while driving.
Broken, in so many ways
Never would allow your to sh are more than 12 hours. Now constantly asks for email confirmation and won’t accept a valid answer. No contact or tech support in app or on website.
Not for me
Needed a tracker so wife could see my location when I’m out in my kayak for safety reasons. Didn’t work for me.
Unreliable
Very disappointing. It worked really well for a while but then suddenly stopped following. Can’t make contact with support to sort it out. Great idea-pity about performance
Won’t link to Evernote
This app is exactly what I need for my business, the only problem is when I click on the button to link my Evernote account nothing happens, I’ve tried on multiple peoples phones, and every time I click on the link Evernote nothing happens. Please fix this asap
Ballooning
We use this app in ballooning for almost every flight. Perfect for tracking crew and flight information!
HATE the new interface
Why is it now so hard to have a frequent contact on the center button? Originally you list someone to send a Glympse and it’s saved ready for next time. NOW it’s many steps to accomplish the same task. What an in credible time waster. I would reset to 5 stars if it weren’t for this incredibly lousy interface. O, And I’d fire the designer
Love this app
Very useful, I love using this app. And I like that you can select how long you share your location. The only setback is that I wish the app would ask you at least 2 or 3 more times if you want to view somebody’s location 🙄
Crashes constantly
App crashes when you press the settings icon.
Useful app
Have started to use this more regularly since installing. It is a good app but the BMW compatibility is really quite poor which is the reason for not rating with more stars. Support for CarPlay would also be a big improvement.
