This app is basically useless without buying the maps of the regions. This should be more clearly explained. That being the case, why does the basic app cost money? When you keep zooming in the map freezes and it doesn't let you zoom out again

Ich schliesse mich der Rezension von Kirue09 an. Ich habe vor Jahren auch drei Kacheln (Graubünden, Tessin, Ostschweiz) gekauft, damals ebenfalls für CHF 240.– oder sogar etwas mehr. Jetzt begrüsst mich die App beim Aufstarten mit dem vorwurfsvoll-frechen Text: «Sie benutzen Swiss Pro Map immer wieder ohne Abonnement. Wäre es nicht an der Zeit, ein Abonnement abzuschliessen?» Eine Rückenmarkslosigkeit sondershausen! Dann klicke ich auf den Button «Kauf wiederherstellen» und es tut sich natürlich nichts, was mich aber keineswegs erstaunt. Die App war – jedenfalls früher – in technischer Hinsicht nicht immer das Mass der Dinge. Und hier kommt noch der versöhnliche Schluss: Die App selbst ist top, macht Freude und funktioniert inzwischen wirklich ausgezeichnet! Und die Pointe: Ohne Abo läuft sie allerdings nur noch bis am 4. Juli 2024. Dann werde auch ich ein Abo für CHF 15.-/Jahr brauchen. Nein, das ist nicht viel. Andereseits habe ich bereits CHF 240.- (16 Abo-Jahre) bezahlt. Nein, das ist nicht cool. Drum fehlt auch ein Stern.
Braucht zu viel Platz
Die App speichert zu viele offline Karten und man kann es nicht einstellen.
Écran blanc
Bonjour, j’ai un écran désespérament blanc quand j’ouvre l’appli… y’a juste les boutons au bas mais rien ne se passe quand on les clique. iPhone 11. j’ai éteint le téléphone, tjrs pareil. J’ose pas effacer l’appli, pas envie de perdre tout mes POI.. ??? Merci pour renseignement Paul
Beste App für Offlinefunktion
Die Offlinefunktion ist sehr wichtig wenn man in den Bergen unterwegs ist. Swisstopo hat dadurch total versagt.
The worst app ever
Dreadful. I've just wasted 5.99 UKP on an app that has no instructions, no assistance, and no meaningful functionality. An utter waste of cash. Totally unintuitive and a very very poorly implemented idea. Can I get my money back? Who knows? There are no contact details in the app. Very dissatisfied.

Pur avendo le swissTopo su dispositivo Garmin, questa app è comoda per avere una visione rapida del territorio, su iPad ha un'ottima definizione e abbastanza veloce nel refresh e zoom. In mobilità si ha il vantaggio di disporre di un'ampia veduta.
Abstieg
Vor Jahren habe ich mit 1000 Fr die einzelnen Sektoren und inApp Köufe gekauft. Dann war das nichts mehr wert, ein Monats Abo wurde eingeführt. Mittlerweile gibts das gleiche von Swisstopo gratis, mit der gewohnten Kartenzeichnung. Swiss Pro Map hingegen hat vor einigen Jahren eine ungewohnte Kartenzeichnung eingeführt. Habe darum das Abo gekündigt.
Abo
Vor Jahren, ganz am Anfang habe ich pro Kachel fr 80.- bezahlt. Meine drei Kacheln kosteten also fr 240.- das heisst: 16Jahre Abo bezahlt für Oberland, Bern und Gantrisch. Darum nervt mich die Abo Aufforderung. War damals begeistert, dass die Karten der Landestopografie aufgeschaltet sind.

What a rip off
The app cost over £2 and I used up the credits within a very short space of time. The credits are expensive but really cheap compared to the cost of maps. I feel well and truly ripped off.
Very useful
For $34, I was able to unlock all 1/25k topographic maps covering a large area for hiking near Interlaken, including the Eiger, Jungfrau, and other areas nearby, along with hiking trails and Swiss Mobility information about public transit, lodging, and points of interest. All of the information is available for offline use, including train, tram, and bus schedules, and can take advantage of my iPad's GPS capabilities. An equivalent amount of paper information would cost considerably more, be much less convenient, and offer much less functionality. The product would be vastly improved by the addition of some basic documentation, but I was able to figure it out in about 20 minutes anyway.
Routen planen
Ich komme nicht klar mit der App, auch nach durchforsten der Hilfetexte und der Videos nicht. Immer wenn’s interessant wird, wird der entscheidende Schritt übersprungen. Viel zu viele Schichten und Optionen, ich fliege dauernd raus.
Baffled
The maps are great, but not sure where I am with it. Over the years I’ve bought many tiles which I could download to my phone, no problem. Then following a 2 year lay off, when I want to visit Switzerland, pop ups are telling me I need to subscribe. Not wanting to be on the mountain with no digital map I just paid. A similar thing happened with Memory map for UK maps. Will I be able to use the maps I paid for without continuing paying a subscription?

Im Gegensatz zur offiziellen App sind die Karten gut lesbar. Allen anderen Schnickschnack braucht es für mich auf der Jagd nicht!

This is a very good app, but it would be a really bad idea to buy it without first going to the Swisstopo website to see what you were getting. As some reviewers noted, for the base price you get only the basic app and a single demonstration map, and the map "tiles" are indeed expensive. However, you end up with beautiful high-resolution maps of the section of Switzerland that you want, the application has many of the usual GPS features (current location, track), and the panoramic view and "augmented reality" have great possibilities, though I haven't tried them yet. If you want electronic maps of Switzerland that reside inside your device instead of "out there" on the Internet, I think this is the only way to go.
Bonne appli mais non à l'abonnement
Il convient de s'informer en détail au sujet de ses fonctionnalités pour en profiter au maximum. Mais l'abonnement est trop cher et je préfère payer une appli une fois pour toutes. On peut d'ailleurs se procurer des cartes papier, utiliser un appareil GPS ou une autre appli.
Alleinstellungsmerkmal?
Welches Alleinstellungsmerkmal hat diese App ggü Anderen Apps welche es Begründet diese CHF 15.-/Jahr zu bezahlen? Dieser Abo-Zwang finde ich persönlich nicht sehr clever. Da es andere Anbieter schaffen eine App zu pflegen ohne Werbung und Abo-Zwang. Man gibt den Nutzern die Möglichkeit zu spenden.
Ideale Karten-App
Die App bietet wirklich viel: neben den Swisstopo-Karten auch Open Street Map - sogar offline. Höhenprofile auf Wanderrouten. Eigene Routen lassen sich einfach erstellen. Wanderwegnetz, Fahrpläne, SAC-Hütten und mehr. Die Suche findet alles. Entfernungen messen ist einfach: mit dem Finger auf die Karte zeichnen…
Maps are a rip off
This is a great app, BUT the maps are TOO EXPENSIVE for iPhone. You can buy map tiles but app updates LOSE THIS DATA and you cannot back-up. Bought entire route for trip last year and spent hours adding huts & POI to map, but lost it even before I went! I too have gone back to paper maps.
Keine Wanderwege mehr
Es werden nach dem Update (Version 3.40) keine Wanderwege mehr angezeigt - selbst nach einer kompletten Neuinstallation von Swiss Map Mobile, Kartenmaterial und Wanderwege, keine Anzeige von Wanderwegen. Sehr Ärgerlich!!!! Keine Verbesserung, eher ein Rückschritt mit der neuen Version. Null Sterne!!! Geht doch - warum nicht gleich so!? ... 4 Sterne

Wenn ich noch oft genötigt werde ein Abo zu lösen, werde ich die App löschen.
New version is too expensive
Long term user of this app which I found useful even if it lacked user-friendliness. I found myself in the middle of a bike ride asked to pay a steep fee to use the new version. This one appears to be much improved but a commercial gesture towards the old users who supported you would have been appreciated.

Gegenüber dem Schrott, was die neu von Swisstopo beauftragte Firma liefert, wende ich gerne die CHF 15 pro Jahr auf. Dafür gibts klare und gut lesbare Karten; nicht so unscharf wie bei der offiziellen App. Weiter so, danke!!
Hidden fees
Not impressed by the fee structure. I am almost 30$ in and now I have to figure what a tile credit is, and buy more to use the maps I thought I bought. I went on one 8 mile walk and used 420 tiles. I can't see how I used my tile credit and now I suspect I was debited multiple times for the same tile. That seems wrong considering how much everything is. I doubt I will use or recommend this app to anyone.
Swiss map
Excellent for skiers trecking etc. All maps fit on the iPhone and the GPS chipset gives you the right position without the need to connect to the Internet. One regrets though the poor navigating interface and track recording. Very basic from that point of view. Also could use the accelerometer to start and stop recording. Emailing position or sending it through SMS could be useful!! Other free apps give more functions albeit for poorer map quality. Otherwise very good.
Trop lent pour être utilisable
Chaque fois que je l'ouvre, la carte prend très longtemps a charger Même avec un très bon réseau Charger les cartes à l'avance n'a pas aidé car c'est trooooop lent On a l'impression d'un produit prometteur mais pas mûr pour être mis sur le marché J'ai payé, mais je ne renouvelle pas En fait je n'ai quasiment jamais pu en faire un usage efficace en randonnée ou en voyage à l'étranger

Wie teuer das Abo wird… Je nach dem ist das für mich ein NoGo Kriterium nachdem ich schon 2x für das Kartenmaterial in der alen App zahlen musste 😉

nicely done, but the economic model is bad. the app is very limited without additional very expensive in-app purchases (close to $700 for covering all of switzerland), so it definitely should be free. if you play a little after installing it, you will exhaust your limit and then the app is completely useless without spending a lot more monely. a well-done app, but the economic model is wrong. the app itself should be free instead of having to pay for the trial phase.
Gutgemachte Kartenapplikation
Zunächst eine kurze Beschreibung was man mit der Basisversion erhält. Diese Basisversion ist eigentlich ein Viewer für die verschiedenen Swissmaps. Einmal auf das iphone geladen, verbleiben diese dort und können offline genutzt werden. Im Umfang der Applikation selbst ist folgendes enthalten: Swissmap 1:1Mio, 1:500 000 und ca. 440 Kacheln (entspricht ca. 1/2 Blatt der gedruckten Version bei 1:25K). Zusätzlich geladen werden können Karten im Masstab 1:50K). Hat man das Kontigent verbraucht (geht natürlich sehr schnell) kann man nur noch Sektoren kaufen (ca. 60 EUR pro Sektor). Dies soll aus der Anwendung herausfunktionieren, allerdings tut es das zur Zeit noch nicht. Ich finde diese Lösung mit Sektoren nicht besonders optimal, da ich oft nur einzelne Karten benötige. Ich hätte es besser gefunden, wenn man eine bestimmte Anzahl von Kacheln (z.B. in 1000er Schritten) ebenfalls kaufen könnte. Die Applikation arbeitet stabil und schnell. SIe ist sicherlich ausbaufähig (z.B. keine Suche nach Orten, Einblenden bzw. Ausblenden von Karteninfos). Tracks können zwar aufgezeichnet werden, aber eine Exportmöglichkeit habe ich noch nicht gefunden. Fazit: Brauchbare Anwendung, falls man die Genauigkeit von Wanderkarten auf seinem iphone benötigt. Wäre schön, wenn man Deutschland (z.B. Landesämter, Magicmaps) ähnliches auf dei Reihe bringen würde. Den Aktivierungscode benötigt man nur beim Kauf der Sektoren. Von einem Kartenmassstab zum nächsten kommt am schnellsten durch einen Doppelklick auf die Karte
Good app, expensive apps
The app is great - a clever panoramic view (useful in a mountainous country), nice screen transitions. Maps are good - directly equivalent to UK Ordnance Survey or NZ Topo maps. However, the fee structure is terrible - *extremely* expensive maps, and very opaque pricing until you buy the apps. (And yes, 'this is Switzerland', but the pricing is 10x the cost in the UK or NZ.)

Awesome Maps
These are the best topo maps I have ever had the pleasure of using. The detail and clarity are great. The app makes it easy (not cheap, but you pay for convenience, and besides, this is switzerland) to access these maps. The interface has a few oddities, and more color might not be amiss, but I think these are great maps. The biggest downside is that they aren't available elsewhere!
Too expensive for what it is
I bought this application for ipad. However you only receive very few maptiles and you can buy more for a lot of money (50 pound for a small part of switzerland). Once you buy this it will only work on you ipad, it seems that if your ipad ever crashes it's not possible too back up. Swiss always like to overcharge but this is over the top. Would buy it if it would be cheaper and if you could back it up on your computer and use it also on your itouch. In this case if you uninstall application or if your ipad crashes you loose 50 pound or more if you installed other maps. I don't think anyone would buy this for that reason.
Confusing.
It's hard to know what you've already purchased and I suggest the user be prompted before the credits are used up.
Irreführend
Schaut man die Bilder der App an, denkt man, mit den 3,59 kauft man gleich Karten mit Wanderwegen in einem guten Massstab etc. Doch die muss man sich danach erst dazu kaufen und die Kosten sind beachtlich. Es gibt zwar einige "Gratiskacheln", aber was man damit genau macht und wie man sie einsetzt ist unklar.
Crashes while downloading tiles
3.01 crashes while downloading tiles. At approx. 8,000 tiles the app crashes and has to be restarted. 3.0 had no problems downloading all tiles at once. Please fix the download bug in 3.01. Thank you very much. (Using iPhone 4, iOS 4.1.)
Great idea but confusing about how charging works
We are cycle touring in Switzerland and need a light weight tool for the iPad to help us plan. This looks mouth watering. But after 45 mins experimenting and spending money ... I still can't figure it out ... Even with my Geography Degree Wife sat next to me. We are heading out the to book shop to revert to old fashioned printed stuff. VERY disappointed.
Useful but no backup
Great maps, but only temporarily. There is no way to backup, so you loose everything you paid for if the app is uninstalled.
Correcte
Application satisfaisante. Toutefois les cartes sont inférieures a celles de l'IGN (iphigenie) ne serait- ce que par le prix ( plus élevé). En revanche, elles restent en mémoire dans le téléphone et c'est bien pratique. Un autre bémol: les chemins de rando sont vendus a part. Je n'ai pas encore testé les tracés, mais contrairement a iphigenie, le GPS patine avec cette application: il mettait parfois 10mn a trouver la position!

Read up on the app on the website before purchasing. Temporary maps are availbule from £5. £10 will get you 6 maps until you reinstall.
Cache problem
As stated by another reviewer the map data is not saved to the iPhone. It does not work as described or advertised on the Swiss Topo website. The phone needs to be connected to the internet to access the map data. Map areas you have visited previously seem to be downloaded every time thereby using up your data allocation. If you have bought additional tiles, the way the software currently works means that these could be quickly used up accessing the same areas everytime you close down and reopen the app.
Tiles not staying on iphone
Think I was conned with this one. Bought Section 4, scrolled around loading tiles from the server. Turn on Airplane mode tiles no longer there despite the claim that they are stored locally! Would it not be better to download the entire section of maps in one go? I would hate to run up data roaming costs just to use this app. I live in the UK and this WOULD have been good for my summer holiday if it did what it said on the tin!
